Caroline M. Olmstead, 74, of 400 Lycoming St., died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at Williamsport Hospital. She did domestic work in various homes in the area and enjoyed sewing. She was a Protestant. She attended Williamsport Area Schools. Born June 9, 1926, in this city, she was a daughter of George and Ethel Houser Nittinger. Surviving is a brother, John Nittinger, of this city. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Lee; a brother, Raymond Nittinger; and a sister, Emma Jane Smith. Private services will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Maneval’s, 500 W. Fourth St.

Evelyn G. Lucas
Evelyn G. Lucas, 86, of 5650 Northway Road, Cogan Station, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at Valley View Nursing Center. Her husband, Frank S. Lucas, died in 1949. Born Oct. 10, 1914, she was a daughter of James H. and Martha J. Eisenhower Green. Surviving are a daughter, Sarah B. Frantz, with whom she lived; a grandson, Raymond Frantz; two great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Montoursville Cemetery, with the Rev. Phyma Day, open Bible Fellowship Church, DuBoistown, officiating. There will be no visitation. The family will provide the flowers. Arrangements are being handled by Spitler’s, 733 Broad St., Montoursville.

Anthony C. Flamini
Anthony C. Flamini, 92, of 1201 Rural Ave., died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at Williamsport Hospital. He and his wife, the former Anita M. Vannucci, observed their 66th wedding anniversary in August. He was owner and operator of the former Stern Bros. clothing store for many years. A World War II Navy veteran he served in the South Pacific. He was a life and third degree member of Knights of Columbus Lodge 366, Sons of Italy and Benevolent Protective Order of Elks. He was a member of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. Born Aug. 12, 1908, in this city, he was a son of Natale P. and Vinceza F. Casini Flamini. Surviving are a daughter, Elaine M. Carpin of Pittsford, N.Y. two grandchildren, Michael and Kristen; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, 635 Hepburn St., with Msgr. Francis J. Castellano, his pastor, as celebrant. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Friends may call at Crouse’s, 133 E. Third St., from 7 to 9 tonight, with a recitation of the rosary at 7:30.

Kenneth L. Anderson
Kenneth L. Anderson, 80, formerly of Muncy and Watsontown, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000 at Kramm Nursing Home, Watsontown, where he had been for a year. He retired in 1981 from the former Isaac Decker Furniture Co. Montgomery. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Born June 19, 1920, in Muncy, he was a son of Melvin and Carrie Sherwood Anderson. Surviving are nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Gilbert, Wilbur, Roland and Robert and two sisters, Ethel and Mary. A memorial service will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Muncy Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Wallis-Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.

Shirley K. Fravel
MILL HALL - Shirley K. Fravel, 73, of 436 Furnace Road, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at ManorCare, Jersey Shore. She was a nurses aide at SusqueView Home, retiring in 1992. She was the widow of Albert B. Fravel. Born May 5, 1927, in Lansing, Mich., she was a daughter of Franklin E. and Doris “Betty” McGonigal Swarm. Surviving are a daughter, Laurie M. Bechdel of Loganton; two sons, Albert W. and Thomas A., both of Mill Hall; a brother, Elwood Swarm of Castanea; a sister, Evelyn M. Bilbay of Avis; and a grandchild. She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald, and a sister, Helena Saxton. The funeral will be at the convenience of the family at Wetzler’s, 320 Main St., with the Rev. Ellen Evans, pastor of Mill Hall United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Mill Hall RR. There will be no visitation.

Florence H. Ujhazi
Florence H. Ujhazi, of 1961 Konkle Road, Montoursville, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at home. Arrangements are being handled by Spitler’s, 733 Broad St., Montoursville.

Millard F. Reasinger
MANSFIELD - Millard F. Reasinger, 93, of Mansfield, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000. His wife, the former Marian Youmans Reasinger, died in 1972. He white washed dairy barns and was a self-employed equipment operator. He was a member of Whitneyville United Methodist Church. Born Dec. 3, 1906, in DuBois, he was a son of Joseph and Celia Reasinger. Surviving are a son, Thomas of Wellsboro; two daughters, Marjorie Smith of Horseheads, N.Y. and Leone Goodwin of Wellsboro; a half sister; two half brothers; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Wilston’s, 18 N. Main St., with the Rev. Kirk D. Smethers officiating. Burial will be in Welsh Settlement Cemetery, Wellsboro. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday.

Charles L. Barto
HUGHESVILLE - Charles L. Barto, 54, of 70 Willow St., died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at the Muncy Valley Hospital emergency room after being stricken at home. He and his wife, the former Rose Ann Little, observed their 27th wedding anniversary March 17. He was most recently employed by Muncy Creek Township. He was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, where he helped with Ladies Aide functions. He was an avid hunter and bowler. Born June 6, 1946, in Penn Township, he was a son of Kimber L. and Zelda L. Shaner Barto. Surviving, besides his wife, are his mother; a stepson, Timothy Little; a brother, Glenn E. Barto; two sisters, Emilie L. Kuntz and Doris M. Lauchle; and four step-grandchildren, all of Hughesville. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at McCarty-Thomas’, 557 E. Water St., with the Rev. George E. Dorin, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Mary Olive LaForme
Mary Olive LaForme, 95, formerly of Montgomery, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at Manor Care North. Her husband, George E. LaForme, died April 4, 1998. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed square dancing, gardening, embroidery and bingo. Born Sept. 23, 1905, in Strawberry Ridge, Montour County, she was a daughter of Edward and Matilda Corterman Smith. Surviving are a brother, Lawrence Smith of Frederick, Md.; three grandchildren, LouAnne Bloom, Gary and Harold “Rusty” Huff Jr.; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Beatrice A. Huff. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Betzer’s, 108 N.Main St., Muncy, with the Rev. James R. Pentz, pastor of New Covenant Assembly, Montgomery, officiating. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Ethel E. Rump
WATSONTOWN - Ethel E. Rump, 69, formerly of Milton RR 4 died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at Kramm’s Nursing Home, where she lived for the past three years. Her husband, Michael Fred “Bud” Rump Jr., died Dec. 14, 1994. She was a licensed practical nurse at Devitt’s Camp, Allenwood, the former Gold Star Nursing Home, Milton, and Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, and had been a driver for Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit. She was a founding member of the Handicapped Boy Scouts in Milton. She attended St. John’s Lutheran Church, New Columbia RR, and Paradise United Church of Christ, Milton RR 2. Born Sept. 21, 1931, in Kelly Township, Union County, she was a daughter of Lloyd F. and Anna E. Shirk Gates. Surviving are three sons, Mitchell F. of Danville, David A. of Mifflinburg RR 4 and Donald E. of Milton RR 4; two daughters, SuzAnn Nonemaker of New Columbia RR 1 and JoEllen Thomas of Watsontown RR 2; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Chris Eugene; four brothers, John Miller, Reuben and Edward Gates, and an infant brother; two sisters, Mary Vivian Robbins and Louisa Gates; and a grandson. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Brooks’, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville, with the Rev. Darrell J. Lamos, pastor of Christ Wesleyan Church, Milton RR 4, officiating. Burial will be in Paradise Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Dolores M. Wheeler
Dolores M. “Dolly” Curchoe Wheeler, 69, of Canton died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at Bradford County Manor, Burlington. She and her husband, Bob Wheeler, observed their 51st wedding anniversary March 19. She and her husband owned and operated a restaurant in Canton. She was a 1948 graduate of Williamsport High School. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. Born May 21, 1931, she was a daughter of Ernest F. and Ann Petinko Curchoe. Surviving, besides her husband, are three sons, Robert Jr. and Stanley, both of this city, and Ernest of Montoursville; two daughters, Cheryl Ann Walter of this city and Darlene MacDonald of Canton; a sister, Phyllis Sykes of this city; nine grandchildren; a step-grandchild; three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, John. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at noon Monday in St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd., with Msgr. Stephen McGough officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. to noon Monday. The family will provide the flowers. Arrangements are being handled by Pepper’s, Springbrook Drive, Canton.

Florence H. Ujhazi
Florence H. Ujhazi, 72, of 1961 Konkle Road, Montgomery, died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at home after an extended illness. She and her husband, Nicholas Ujhazi, observed their 41st wedding anniversary June 20. She was employed by Kemper Insurance Co. in New York. Born Dec. 15, 1927, in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a daughter of Benjamin and Gussie Zurkin Surviving, besides her husband, are a daughter, Diane M. Abercrombie of Linden; a brother, William Zurkin of Fairhope, Ala.; four grandchildren, Michael, Luke, Danny and Sarah Abercrombie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 100 Walunt St., with the Rev. Thomas Shoback, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Montgomery Cemetery. Friends may call at Spitler’s, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. A prayer vigil is planned.

Robert O. Miller
Robert Ott Miller, 77, of 815 Las Cruces Court, Lady Lake, Fla., formerly of this city, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000. He was a retired teacher. He was a member of Pennsylvania and National Education associations and the Association of School Retirees. He was a 32nd-degree Mason, a member of John F. Laedlin 707 F&AM, Zafar Grotto and the Williamsport Consistory. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was born in Everett. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Miller at home; two sons, William of Berkley Heights, N.J., and Richard of this city; a daughter, Barbara Cooley of Blue Bell; and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 142 Market St., with the Rev. Kenneth R. Elkin, his pastor, officiating. The family will provide the flowers. Arrangements are being handled by Beyers’, Lady Lake, Fla.

Mary Verna McMahon
Mary Verna McMahon, 94, of 1742 Loyalsock Drive died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at home. Her husband, Robert Gerald McMahon, died in 1974. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Woman’s Club and an avid bridge player. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. Born July 18, 1906, in Shelburne, Ontario, Canada, she was a daughter of George and Edith Davison. Surviving are a daughter, Jean M. Soars of Eagles Mere; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday at Maneval’s, 500 W. Fourth St., with the Rev. Kenneth R. Elkin, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Muncy Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 12:30 p.m. Monday.

Joan H. Seidel
MILTON - Joan H. Seidel, 86, of 20 Upper Market St. died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. Her husband, Richard F. Seidel, died April 24, 1998. She retired as a teacher from Milton schools. She was a member of Milton Garden Club, Milton Historical Society, and had been on the board of Milton Public Library. She volunteered with the adult reading program and Meals on Wheels. She was a graduate of St. Francis Academy, Joliett, Ill.; Penn Hall, Chambersburg; Bucknell University, Lewisburg; Bloomsburg University. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and its altar guild. Born June 17, 1914, in Kenosha, Wis., she was a daughter of Henry C. and Blanche Colville Hill. Surviving are two sons, William L. of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Christopher W. of Chicago, Ill.; two daughters, Gretchen S. Sevinson of Wilkes-Barre and Lynne S. Slocum of Wolfeboro, N.H.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Philip C. Hill. A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church, Milton, with the Rev. LeRoy E.P. Reitz officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Milton Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Arrangements are being handled by Shaw’s, 400 N. Front St.

Lydia E. Bigelow
Lydia E. Bigelow, 87, of 743 Valley Road died Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, at home after a brief illness. She and her husband, Claude E. Bigelow, observed their 64th wedding anniversary Sept. 5. She retired in 1975 from C.A. Reed after 29 years. She was a member of Nisbet United Methodist Church and formerly played piano there. She enjoyed fishing and camping. Born March 16, 1913, in Nisbet, she was a daughter of Robert and Lulu Laubach Sitler. Surviving, besides her husband, are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harvey, Glenn and Charles Sitler, and three sisters, Evelyn Sitler, Mabel Beach and Arvilla Sander. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave., with the Rev. James E. Weibley, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. The family will provide the flowers.

Jennie Elizabeth Caccia
LAPORTE - Jennie Elizabeth Caccia, 85, of Mildred died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at The Highlands here. She was the widow of Edward Caccia, who was killed in action in 1944 during World War II. She retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation here after 15 years. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Treasurer of the Sullivan County Democratic Party, she had been its vice chairman. She was involved with the Sullivan County Area Agency on Aging and was treasurer of the Pennsylvania Retired State Employees and the Mildred Ambulance Association. She was a member of McDermott Post 452, American Legion Auxiliary, Mildred. Surviving are four brothers, Eugene of Phoenix, Ariz., George of Elmira, N.Y., Julius of Mildred and Anthony of Binghamton, N.Y.; and one sister, Madelin Rogers of Charleston, S.C. A sister, Mamie White of Lopez, died in 1998, and a brother, William of Binghamton, died in 1990. The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Homer’s, 206 Water St., Dushore. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Mildred, with the Rev. Michael B. Harris, her pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining parish Cemetery. Friends may call at Homer’s from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
