Robert Reuben Swisher, 82, of 148 Swisher Road, Montgomery, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at Muncy Valley Hospital skilled nursing unit.
He and his wife, the former Romayne M. Bitler, observed their 53rd wedding anniversary Dec. 20.
He retired in 1983 from West Co., Montgomery, where he was employed in the shipping department for 17 years.
He was formerly a crossing guard for the Montgomery School District and a custodian for First United Methodist Church.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Born Oct. 12, 1918, in Clinton Township, he was a son of Reuben and Susie Bennett Swisher.
Surviving, besides his wife, are two daughters, Cheryl E. Gansell of Pennsdale and Linda D. of Montgomery; a brother, Harold “Sonny” of Montgomery; a sister, Mary Louise Kramer of Montgomery; five step-grandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at noon Wednesday at the church, 41 W. Houston Ave., with his pastor, the Rev. Roosevelt Brown, officiating.
Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park, with graveside military honors accorded by the combined veterans organizations.
Friends may call at the church from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday.

John M. Duty
John M. Duty, 58, formerly of this city and Jersey Shore, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at RoseView Center, where he had been since August.
He operated Duty’s Music Store, Jersey Shore, and was employed by West Co. in Jersey Shore and Montgomery.
He was a 1960 graduate of Jersey Shore High School.
He enjoyed automobiles and electronics.
He was a former member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Jersey Shore.
Born April 11, 1942, in Jersey Shore, he was a son of Robert B. and Evelyn M. Ryan Duty.
Surviving are a brother, Robert K. of Loyalsock Township; and five nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald L.
Family graveside services will be at the convenience of the family in Jersey Shore Cemetery, with the Rev. Donald G. Nice officiating.
There will be no visitation.

Fire Victim
MUNCY - Jacqueline S. Newcomb, 17, of 19 S. Main St., died in a cabin fire Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, in Davidson Township, Sullivan County.
She was employed by Turkey Hill and T.G.I. Friday’s.
A senior at Muncy High School, she was on the soccer and basketball teams, a member of the M Club and had been vice president of her class in 10th and 11th grades.
At 15, she was a contestant in the Miss Pennsylvania Teen Pageant.
She attended Camp Cadet at Little League Baseball Headquarters and was certified by Little League Baseball as a girls softball coach.
She was born Nov. 13, 1982, in Muncy.
Surviving are her father, Richard E. Shaylor Jr. of Muncy; her mother, Suzanne Shaylor of South Williamsport; two brothers, Richard Lee Newcomb III and Joshua Shaylor, both of Muncy; maternal grandfather, Ralph W. Johnson of Hughesville; paternal grandparents, Richard and Barbara Newcomb in Kentucky; and maternal great-grandfather, Carl Ardabelle of this city.
Her maternal grandmother, Rosemary Johnson, died in July.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Wallis-Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., with the Rev. James R. Pentz, New Covenant Assembly of God, Montgomery, officiating.
Burial will be in Muncy Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday.

Donald A. Charles, 18, of 147 N. Main St., Hughesville, died in a cabin fire Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, in Davidson Township, Sullivan County.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.
Born April 8, 1982, in Muncy Creek Township, he was a son of Sheldon E. and Linda M. Johnson Charles.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, with whom he lived, are three sisters, Ann P. of Linden, Brenda P. of Muncy and Melinda L. Sutton of this city; two brothers, Kevin L. of Laporte and Sheldon A. at home; and maternal grandfather, Harold Johnson of this city.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at McCarty-Thomas’, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. James R. Pentz, New Covenant Assemblty of God, Montgomery, officiating.
Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery, Muncy.

Wilbur M. Snyder
WATSONTOWN - Wilbur M. “Web” Snyder, 87, of Watsontown RR 1, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at Kramm’s Nursing Home, where he had lived the past few months.
He and his wife, the former Goldie M. Beaver, celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary Dec. 28.
Owner and operator of the former Snyder’s Tractor and Auto, he had been employed by Allenwood Ordinance as shop foreman.
He was past president of Pennsylvania Farm Equipment Dealer’s Association, a member of Loyal Order of the Moose 121, Milton, and Jackson Corner’s Sportsmans Club.
He was a 1932 graduate of Hughesville High School.
He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Watsontown RR 1.
Born June 7, 1913, in Hughesville, he was a son of Bruce and Ocie Hill Snyder.
Surviving, besides his wife, are two sons, Donald B. of Muncy and Carl E. of Watsontown RR 1; a brother, Robert E. of Hughesville; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gary, and an infant sister, Beatrice.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church, Watsontown RR 1, with the Rev. Gregory A. Kramer, his pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Margaret Emily Willits
JERSEY SHORE - Margaret Emily Willits, 85, of 148 Locust St. died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at Jersey Shore Hospital emergency room.
Her husband, Carl W. Willits, died Aug. 26, 1956.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed bingo.
She reared four of her grandchildren.
Born Sept. 17, 1915, in Salladasburg, she was a daughter of Edward M. and Lily E. Witton Sellinger. Surviving are three sons, Thomas C. and Frank E., both of Jersey Shore, and George D. of Haneyville; six daughters, Barbara M. Frey of Linden, Marian I. Koons, Joann L. Johnson and Lois J. Duffield, all of Jersey Shore, Diane E. Galetti of Lake Worth, Fla., and Ruth L. Reber of English Center; 26 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters; three brothers; a grandson; and a great-grandson.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Welker’s, 125 N. Main St.
Burial will be in Jersey Shore Cemetery.

Marian V. Saar, 76, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at ManorCare South.
Her first husband, Dominic Angelucci, died in November 1966.
Her second husband, Charles J. Saar, died in December.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Red Run Rod and Gun Club, Wheel Inn and Marine Corps League.
She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Ralston.
Born July 6, 1924, in Conshohocken, she was a daughter of Bert and Henrietta Reece Collins.
Surviving are two sons, Donald J. Angelucci of Mapleton Depot and Armand A. Angelucci of Norristown; two brothers, Bert Collins in California and Kenneth Collins in Iowa; a sister, Pat Loader in Oregon; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services in Norristown are being handled by Caramenico’s, 403 E. Main St., Norristown.
Burial will be in St. Patricks Cemetery, Norristown

Kay M. Henry, 66, of 626 S. Howard St., South Williamsport, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at Williamsport Hospital.

Sara Hanna Irwin
LOCK HAVEN - Sara Hanna Irwin, 92, of 73 N. Jones St. died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at SusqueView Nursing Home, where she lived for three weeks.
Her husband, Robert N. Irwin, died Aug. 15, 1984. She was a graduate of Flemington High School.
She was a Methodist.
Born Feb. 12, 1908, in Flemington, she was a daughter of Grove C. and Blanche Tate Hanna.
Surviving are two sisters, Helen Hanna Smith of Langhorn and June Hanna Reed of Westfield, N.Y.; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Henrietta Irwin Petersen; a brother, Ner Hanna; and a sister, Ida Hanna Marks.
The funeral will be at the convenience of the family at Yost-Gedon’s, 121 W. Main St.
Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Bald Eagle Township, Clinton County.
There will be no visitation.

Robert Ott Miller, 77, of 815 Las Cruces Court, Lady Lake, Fla., formerly of this city, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000.
He was a retired teacher.
He was a member of Pennsylvania and National Education associations and the Association of School Retirees.
He was a 32nd-degree Mason, a member of John F. Laedlin 707 F&AM, Zafar Grotto and the Williamsport Consistory.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
He was born in Everett.
Surviving are his wife, Shirley Miller; two sons, William of Berkley Heights, N.J., and Richard of this city; a daughter, Barbara Cooley of Blue Bell; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 142 Market St., with the Rev. Kenneth R. Elkin, his pastor, officiating.
The family will provide the flowers.
