Marla Louise Altieri, 53, of West Fourth Street died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, in Williamsport Hospital. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Renovo. Born Aug. 13, 1947, in Lock Haven, she was a daughter of Salvatore L. and Shirley M. Bridgens Altieri. Surviving are her mother and a sister, Ivy Altieri of Levittown. She was preceded in death by her father. A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the church, Lock Haven, with the Rev. Donald Boslett, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hyner. Friends may call at Helt Hanna Kline’s, 232 Hogan Boulevard, Mill Hall, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Lindy M. Coffman
Lindy M. Coffman, 68, of Salona died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, in Lock Haven Hospital. He and his wife, the former Joan Long, observed their 46th wedding anniversary June 4. He was a shipping clerk for Piper Aircraft. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Assembly of God Church, where he was a greeter, usher and director of the church food bank. Born Jan. 3, 1932, in Mt. Jackson, Va., he was a son of Eugene Rice and Carrie Rebecca Frye Coffman. Surviving, besides his wife, are two sons, the Rev. Franklin E. of Elizabethtown and Joseph W. of Jersey Shore; four sisters, Elizabeth Silvious of Mt. Jackson, Mary Landis of Waynesboro, Va., Eleanor Meadows of Augusta, W.Va. and Betty Marcum of Manassas, Va.; and four grandchildren, Deborah, Samuel, Elisabeth and Matthew. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Floyd, Bob, Austin, Tom and Fitzhugh. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in the church, 320 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall, with the Rev. Wayne Hixon, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Mill Hall. Friends may call in the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by Helt Hanna Kilne’s, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall.

George W. Ferlazzo
MILTON - George W. Ferlazzo, 63, of 307 High St. died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, in Hahnemann Hospital, Philadelphia. He and his wife, the former Dorothy Chapin, were married for 42 years. He retired in 1998 from West Milton State Bank, working in the banking industry for more than 42 years. He was president and board member of the Sunbury Chapter of the American Institute of Banking, Susquehanna Chapter of the Bank Administration Institute and served on the Pennsylvania Banking Association of Consumer Credit and Operations Committees as chairman of the operations and security seminar. A drummer, he was a member of Keystoner Drum and Bugle Corps., Selinsgrove Adult Band and Sunbury Citizens Band. He was president of the Milton Library and W.B. Konkle Library, Montoursville. He was past president of the Milton Lions and was zone chairman of 14-G. He had coached little league baseball and the Panther Cubs and was active in Susquehanna Council, Boy Scouts of America. He was a 1954 graduate of Milton High School and attended University of Chicago, University of Virginia and Rutgers University Graduate School of Banking. He was a member of St. Joseph Church. Born Dec. 26, 1936, in Milton, he was a son of Joseph and Helen Moyer Ferlazzo. Surviving, besides his wife, are his mother of Milton; two daughters, Mary Ann Geyer of Milton and Virginia Sharpless of New Columbia; a son, Michael of Selinsgrove; two sisters, Ruth of Milton and Joanne of Imperial; and two grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the church, with the Rev. Thomas A. Scala, officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call at Shaw’s, 400 N. Front St., from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, with a prayer vigil at 8:30.

Rev. John B. Kleffel
The Rev. John Billhime Kleffel, 82, of 3625 N. Progress Ave., Harrisburg, formerly of the Canton area, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, in Blue Ridge Haven East Nursing Center. He served for 31 years in the pastorate and 14 years in human services, retiring in 1975. He served as pastor for the First Presbyterian Church of Canton. He was a member of Willingboro Presbyterian Church. Surviving are a son, Charles of Meadville; two daughters, Carolyn Lee Stine of Harrisburg and Kristan M. of Mt. Laurel, N.J.; two granddaughters; and a great-grandson. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Geigle’s, 2100 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg. Burial will be in Lewisburg Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:30 to 11 a.m.

Jody L. Sholder Packard
Jody Lynn Sholder Packard, 34, of Route 4, Grafton, a former area resident, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. She and her husband, Douglas Packard, were married for 14 years. She was a homemaker and a teacher at Emmanuel Christian School, Clarksburg, W.Va. She was a 1983 graduate of Jersey Shore High School and graduated from Baptist Bible College, Clarks Summit. She was a member of Galilean Baptist Church and a former member of First Baptist Church of Bellefonte, where she and her husband served as associate ministers for nine years. Born Nov. 21, 1965, in this city, she was a daughter of Donald and Celain Jowes Sholder. Surviving, besides her husband, are her parents of New Columbia; two sons, Andrew and Austin; two daughters, Adria and Ariel; a brother, Shaun Sholder of Natchez, Miss.; and a sister, Dawn Ailor of Winchester, Idaho. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ford’s, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, W.Va., with the Revs. Douglas Packard, her husband;, Bruce McBride; Dave Huckins, and Bill Toothman, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. A local memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Calvary Baptist Church, 315 Thompson St., Jersey Shore, with the Revs. Ron Berrus, Jeff Howell and Fred Milacci officiating. A committal service will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, north of Mifflinburg.

Michael Andrew Fellinger
Michael Andrew Fellinger, 33, of 132 B. Pomona Landing Road, Pomona Park, Fla., formerly of Hughesville, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at home. He was a welder. Born Sept. 7, 1967, in Hughesville, he was a son of William and Sandra Hinds Fellinger. Surviving are his father and stepmother, Sandra of Crescent City, Fla; his mother and stepfather, Dale Darrow of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandmother, Florence of Hughesville; two sons, Gregory Andrew and Douglas Michael, and a daughter, Kaitlyn Geneva, all of Eustis, Fla.; and a stepbrother, Kevin Ray Woods, of Satsuma, Fla. He was preceded in death by a sister, Angela Mae. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Ralph Hibbs, Christ United Methodist Church, Hughesville, officiating. Arrangements are being handled by McCarty-Thomas’, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville.

Clara C. Sinekowski
Clara C. Sinekowski, 86, of Roaring Branch, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre. Her husband, Joseph Sinekowski, died Jan. 1, 1971. She was a retired garment worker and enjoyed sewing and gardening. She was a member of St. John’s the Baptist Church, Ottsville, and attended St. Mary’s Church, Blossburg. Born July 1, 1914, in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of Stanley and Anna Czerniak. Surviving are two sons, Joseph T. of Roaring Branch and Edward C. of Kintnersville; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the church. Burial will be in St. John’s the Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at Freeburg’s, 120 N. Williamson Road, Blossburg from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at Donahue’s, 8340 Eastern Road, intersection of Routes 611 and 412, Ottsville from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Pearl I. Entz
Pearl I. Entz, 93, of 323 Federal Ave. died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at the home of her daughter. Her husband, Oliver Entz, died in 1961. She was a binder and typesetter for the former Businessman’s Printing Press, now Labels by Pulizzi, for more than 50 years, retiring when she was 70. She was a member of Church of the Savior, Lutheran. Born July 9, 1907, in Montgomery, she was a daughter of Freeman and Elizabeth Newman Hauke. Surviving are a daughter, Marguerite Noviello of this city; a brother, Thursten Hauke of Mariana, Fla.; a sister, Alice Tupper of Dallas; two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Elwood, Carl and George Hauke and two sisters, Elsie Ekstrom and Marybelle Enocksen. A graveside service will be at the convenience of the family in Montoursville Cemetery. The family will provide the flowers. Arrangements are being handled by Maneval’s, 500 W. Fourth St.

John F. Zimmer
John F. Zimmer, 92, of Brunswick, Ohio, a former area resident, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000. His wife, Florence M. Zimmer, died in 1990. He was a sales manager at Lowery Electric Co. He was a former member of the Wheel Club and Young men’s Republican Club. He was born Oct. 9, 1908 in Wilmington, Del. Surviving are a son, John D. of Seville, Ohio; a daughter, Sandra Homan of Brunswick, Ohio; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Homan and Michelle Tholl; and two great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at Carlson’s, 3477 Medina Road, Medina, Ohio, from 6 to 8 tonight and at Maneval’s, 500 W. Fourth St. from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Frances W. Snider
Frances W. Snider, 93, formerly of 827 Diamond St. died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, in Roseview Manor. Her husband, Ernest R. “John” Snider, died April 3, 1986. She and her husband owned a grocery store in Diamond Square for more than 30 years, retiring in 1967. She was a bookkeeper for the former PP&L. She was a 1925 graduate of the former Sonestown High School and a graduate of Concord Business College, Concord, N.H. She was a member of Newberry United Methodist Church, Eleanor Love Sunday school class and the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. She was a member of Newberry Senior Citizens. Born Aug. 7, 1907, in Muncy Valley, she was a daughter of Clyde Worthington and Pearl Craft Marshall. Surviving are two sons, Donald B. of Bethlehem and Jack F. of Mechanicsburg; a brother, Donald Worthington of Laporte; and two grandsons. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Sanders’, 821 Diamond St., with the Rev. Gregory Johnson, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. Friends may call at the funeral home from noon to 1 p.m.

Kathryn M. Henry
Kathryn M. Henry, 66, of 626 S. Howard St., South Williamsport, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, in Williamsport Hospital. She and her husband, Lynn E. Henry, observed their 46th wedding anniversary May 1. She enjoyed crafts and sold them at craft shows. She was president of the Women’s Auxiliary 7867, DuBoistown Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was a 1953 graduate of South Williamsport High School. Born Sept. 2, 1934, in this city, she was a daughter of William and Myrtle Crosthwaite. Surviving, besides her husband, are two sons, William E. and James M., both of South Williamsport; a daughter, Beatrice L. Hertel of this city; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kaufmans, 2102 Northway Road, with the Rev. Mike L. Watson, Twin Hills Church of the Nazerene, officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Philip D. Amoroso
Philip D. Amoroso, 60, of 1370 Fox Hollow Road died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, in the Williamsport Hospital emergency room. He retired in May from Textron after 35 years. He was a member of the Susquehanna Valley Big Twins, Woolrich; Pete’s Shanty Hunting Club, Wallis Run; and the National Rifle Association. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 844 Howard W. Kahler and Lycoming County Voiture 382, 40 et 8. He was a 1958 graduate of Williamsport High School. Born May 24, 1940, he was a son of Paul H. and Marian Lent Amoroso. Surviving are three daughters, Vickie Harvey of Chambersburg, Tina Reighard of Trout Run and Brooke Davis of South Pines, N.C.; a sister, Andrea Zerfing of South Williamsport; and eight grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church, 635 Hepburn St., with Msgr. Francis J. Castellano, as celebrant. Burial will be in Wildwood with military honors accorded by Korean War veterans of Lycoming County. Friends may call at Crouse’s, 133 E. Third St. from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday with a recitation of the rosary at 7:30.

Gertrude E. Harer Cowan
COVINGTON - Gertrude Ellen Harer Cowan, 80, of this community died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, at home. She was the widow of Edgar L. Cowan. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Lucy Rebekah Lodge 104, Covington. She was a charter member of Mountain Laurel Quilt Guild and taught quilting classes for many years. Born Jan. 4, 1920, at Canoe Camp Creek, she was a daughter of Edward and Daisy Whitney Harer. Surviving are four sons, Richard G., Jerry L., William L. and Robert D. all of Covington; three daughters, Carol J. Pratt of Mansfield, Sandra L. Chumney of White Pine, Tenn and Cheryl A. Adams of Millertown; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Larry A. and a sister, Blanche Elliott. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Scureman’s, 131 S. Main St., Mansfield. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Edward G. Gross
Edward G. Gross, 80, of 450 Percy St., South Williamsport died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at home. He retired in 1978 from Hon Industries, the former J.K. Rishel Furniture Co. He was a 1938 graduate of Williamsport High School. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. Born Feb. 16, 1920, in Oil City, he was a son of Charles and Naomi Webster Gross. Surviving are his wife, the former Mabel Ertel; a brother, Charles R. of this city; and seven nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Noll’s, 1 E. Central Ave., South Williamsport, with the Rev. Theodore L. Cockley, chaplain, Susquehanna Health System Hospice, officiating. Burial will be in Montoursville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. The family will provide the flowers.

Henrietta Rupert
MILL HALL - Henrietta “Penny” Rupert, 68, of 1030 Long Run Road died Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2000, in Williamsport Hospital. She and her husband, Kenneth Rupert Sr., observed their 45th wedding anniversary Aug. 20. She worked for many years at the former Lock Haven Nursing Home and was a private duty nurse for area families. She formerly worked at Woolrich Woolen Mills and as a tour guide and hostess for Susquehanna Transit Co., Avis. She was a former member of Jersey Shore Business and Professional Womens Club. A longtime member of the Lamar Township Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, she was past president, vice president and treasurer. Born July 13, 1932, in Beech Creek, she was a daughter of Harvey and Mable Killion Waite. Surviving, besides her husband, are two sons, Kenneth Jr. and Craig, both of Mill Hall; a god daughter, whom she helped rear, Lisa Ryan of Lock Haven; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Wetzler’s, 320 Main St., with the Rev. Alan S. Eckenroad, Beech Creek Wesleyan Church, officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Baptist Cemetery, Blanchard.
