Anna Cameron, 88, formerly of 1542 First Ave., Berwick, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, in Berwick Hospital Center, where she had been since Nov. 15. She was previously a resident of Orangeville Nursing and Rehab center for a year. She was the mother of an area man. She and her husband, Carl E. Cameron, observed their 55th wedding anniversary Nov. 18. She assisted in the ownership of Carl’s Cafe, Berwick, for many years and worked in the cafeteria at Wise Potato Chips for 15 years. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and its Naomi Circle. Born March 13, 1912, in Scranton, she was a daughter of John and Veronica Graycar. Surviving, besides her husband, are two sons, John Kuntza of Titusville, Fla. and Stephen Cameron of Jersey Shore; a daughter, Mary Burns of Berwick; a sister, Mary Hutchey of Scranton; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hellers’, 633 E. Third St., Nescopeck. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Berwick. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday.
Leola E. Brion
Leola E. Brion, 82, of Carlton Senior Care Home, Wellsboro, formerly of Liberty, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000. She was the widow of Orrin D. Brion. She had helped with the operation of the family dairy farm. She was a home economics at a high school located in Rome. She was a member of Sebring Grange 1047. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, and ladies aide. Born July 9, 1918, in Liberty, she was a daughter of Clarence and Edith Roupp Beck. Surviving are a daughter, Vivian Flick of Liberty; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the church, Liberty, with the Rev. Daniel May, officiating. Burial will be in the parish Cemetery. Friends may call in the church form 1 to 2 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by Zwicharowski’s, 314 Granger St., Blossburg.
Marie C. Douglas
LOCK HAVEN - Marie C. Douglas, 87, of Pine Haven Apartments, 24 Cree Drive, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, in the Lock Haven Hospital Emergency Room. Her husband, Samuel Douglas, died June 11, 1980. Retiring in the 1960s, she was employed by McKinneys Manufacturing for 20 years. She previously worked at A&P and Kaufmann’s department store in Pittsburgh. She attended high school in Pittsburgh. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Born Sept. 13. 1913, in Butler, she was a daughter of John and Catherine LeJeune Linz. Surviving are a daughter, June Almes of Lock Haven; a brother, Edward Linz of Conneaut Lake; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the church, 310 W. Water St., with Msgr. Dennis Boggs, officiating. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Union Dale Cemetery, 2200 Brighton Road, Pittsburgh, with the Rev. Tom Galvin, officiating. There will be no visitation. Paul G. Flanagan
TROY - Paul G. Flanagan, 56, of this borough died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, in Hershey Medical Center, Hershey. He was body shop manager at Twin Tier Buick, Elmira, N.Y. He enjoyed hunting and was a race car driver at many different tracks. Born Oct. 3, 1944, he was a son of Robert G. and Ruth Reeve Browning Flanagan. Surviving are his wife of 26 years, the former Marcia Whipple; two sons, Glen of Duluth, Minn. and Robert of this borough; and three grandchildren, Loretta, Tyler and Samantha. He was preceded in death by a son, James. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Vickery’s, 110 W. Main St., with the Rev. Kenneth Marple, officiating. Richard A. Joe
WATSONTOWN - The funeral will be Saturday for Richard A. “Rick” Joe, 46, of North Street, who died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at home. He joined the West Branch Volunteer Fire Co. April 1, 1972, and later became a life member. He served as lieutenant, captain, assistant chief, and was chief from 1985 to 1992. He was presented the Sim Cronrath Award in 1993 for service. In 1992, he was named project coordinator of the Northumberland County 911 Program and was instrumental in establishing that communications center. He was an operations and training officer, serving various emergency service volunteers throughout Northumberland and Union counties. He was a graduate of Warrior Run High School. Born Feb. 1, 1954, in Williamsport, he was a son of Robert W. J. and Esther E. Yaw Joe. Surviving are his mother of New Columbia; two brothers, Thomas W. of Turbotville and John D. of Tivoli; three sisters, Sandra L. Joe-Ott and Cynthia L. Biddinger of Watsontown, and Wendy A. Reigel of Sunbury. A firefighter funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Watsontown United Methodist Church, 11 E. Third St., with the Rev. Douglas M. Eberly officiating. Dorothy L. Switzer, 79, formerly of 1040 W. Southern Ave., South Williamsport, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, in Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville. Her husband, Ellsworth K. Switzer, died Sept. 29, 1957. Prior to retiring, she was employed by the former Lycoming Braided Fabrics for 27 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. Born Oct. 6, 1921, in this city, she was a daughter of Louis and Nellie Liddic Bausinger. Surviving are three sons, Ellsworth W. of Florence, S.C., Larry E. and Donald L. both of this city; two daughters, Sharon A. Ulmer of Pennsdale and Paulette L. Klotz of South Williamsport; two brothers, Stanley Bausinger of this city and Robert Bausinger of Havre de Grace, Md.; six sisters, Beverly Walters and Shirley Livermore both of this city, Nellie Fisher of South Williamsport, Sandra Muffley of Landom Md., Lois Geyer of Watsontown, and Connie McGee of Morrisville; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Gary E. Switzer, who died Jan. 12, 1986, three brothers and two sisters. The funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Crouse’s, 133 E. Third St., with the Rev. Bernard Franklin Thorne
Bernard Franklin Thorne, 89, of Schererville, Ind, a city native, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000. He was the widower of Helen Minier Thorne. He was a retired welder with Martin Aircraft in Baltimore, Md. Born Nov. 12, 1911, in this city, he was a son of John and Lucille Barger Thorne. Surviving are two sons, Ronald of Schererville, Ind., and Gregory of Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister, Marie Harmon of Selinsgrove; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister and brother. There will be no local funeral services or visitation.

HUGHESVILLE - Holly A. Turner, 56, of 421 McConnell Parkway died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, in Williamsport Hospital. Retiring in 1996, she was employed by Bostick & Associates of Cleveland Ohio, where she was an insurance underwriter. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in political science. Born Oct. 28, 1944, in Hazleton, she was a daughter of Anthony and Rose Delaney Liberati. Surviving are two sisters, Rosemary J. Rohrbach of Muncy and Sharon Perry of Bellefontaine, Ohio. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Wallis-Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, with the Rev. Anna M. Wengert, 91, of 1900 Ravine Road died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, in Williamsport Home. Her husband, Norman A. Wengert, died March 3, 1991. She taught English, girls health and physical education at Hamburg High School, Hamburg, as well as acted as a coach for sports and cheer leading. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Hamburg, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir for many years. She was a graduate of Hamburg High School and Temple University. Born Sept. 24, 1909, in Hamburg, she was a daughter of Abram and Anna Oberholtzer. Surviving are a son, Dr. Norman E. Wengert of this city; two brothers, Bruce Oberholtzer of Hamburg and William Oberholtzer of Bethlehem; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by seven brothers. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the church, Third and Island streets, Hamburg, with the Rev. Larry Frank officiating. Interment will be in St. Johns Cemetery, Hamburg. Chester Wynn
LOGANTON - Chester Wynn, 85, of Loganton died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, at home. He and his wife, the former Grace Long, observed their 58th wedding anniversary Sept. 12. A fiddle player, he performed in many area bands. Born May 18, 1915, in Nippenose, he was a son of Ray and Lydia Welshans Wynn. Surviving, besides his wife, are three sons, Gene of Allenwood, James and William, both of Rauchtown; a daughter, Wanda Cooper of Rauchtown; a brother, Edward in Montana; a sister, June Brungard of Linden; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Raymond V. Fiester Jr.
Raymond Vincent Fiester Jr., 62, of 2875 Deer Lake Road, Hughesville, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, in the Muncy Valley Hospital skilled nursing unit. He was a boiler operator at the former Anton Waldman’s Co. in Hughesville until the plant’s closing in 1993. He was a 1957 graduate of Hughesville High School. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Born Aug. 29, 1938, in this city, he was a son of Raymond V. and Murl E. Barto Fiester Sr. Surviving are three sisters, Carol L. Jacobs of Hughesville, Lila M. Snyder of Muncy, Ruth Stackhouse of Millville; and a brother, E. Eugene of this city. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Mt. Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Penn Township, with Leroy Snyder, a brother-in-law, officiating. There will be no visitation. The family will provide the flowers. Dorothy Ann Goldy
Dorothy Ann Goldy, 92, of East Stroudsburg, a city native, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. Her husband, Harold F. Goldy, died in 1986. She retired after 22 years at the former Pocono Hospital, now Pocono Medical Center. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Roman Catholic Church, East Stroudsburg, and its Altar and Rosary Society. Born May 16, 1908, she was a daughter of Gilbert and Pearl Garvenk Harman. Surviving are a daughter, Dorothy A. Roeder of Allentown; a son, Robert of East Stroudsburg; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Lou Goldy, and two brothers, Francis Harman and Harold Harman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in the church with the Rev. Thomas Sokowski officiating. A graveside service and burial will be in Montoursville Cemetery at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Arrangements are being handled by Clark’s, 1003 Main St., Stroudsburg.
Robert C. Hess
Robert C. Hess, 77, of 849 Second St. died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000. His wife, Shirley Hess, died in April 1999. He retired from the foundry at the former Anchor Darling Valve Co. He was a World II Army veteran, serving in the 101st Airborne Division. Born Aug. 6, 1923, in Flemington, he was a son of Samuel W. and Madolyn R. Price Hess. Surviving are two sons, Robert Jr. of Jersey Shore and Timothy E. of this city; a granddaughter, Brandy of this city; one brother, Samuel Jr. of this city; two sisters, Barbara Kibler and Peggy Dooris, both of this city. MONTGOMERY - Catheryn A. Koziol, 85, of 191 Broad St. died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, in the Muncy Valley Hospital skilled nursing unit. Her husband, Edward C. Koziol, died Aug. 7, 1991. She was seamstress and had been employed at many former companies, including Charwells in Hughesville, Bobbi Brooks and Myco, both here. She was a member and former representative of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. She was a member of the Montgomery Lioness Club and the Montgomery Senior Citizens. Born Jan. 29, 1915, in Montgomery, she was a daughter of Guy D. and Evelyn Breidinger Simons. Surviving are a daughter, Sally A. Sherman of Montgomery; two sons, Michael E. of Milton and James R. of Montgomery; a sister, Margaret Miller of Montgomery; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin Simons, and two sisters, Beatrice Harding and Grace Follmer. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, 50 E. Jeremy P. Lampman
Jeremy P. Lampman, 22, a Pennsylvania College of Technology student from Horseheads, N.Y., died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000 in Elmira, N.Y. He was a 1996 graduate of Twin Tiers Baptist High School. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Horseheads. Born Sept. 7, 1978, in Horseheads, he was a son of Allen Jr. and Christine Lampman. Surviving, besides his parents, are a sister, Stephanie Lampman of Horseheads; a maternal grandmother, Marion Fields of Horseheads; and paternal grandparents, Allen Sr. and Mary Louise Lampman of Elmira. Marie M. Page, 84, of 5890 Route 15 Highway, Montgomery, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2000, at home. Her husband, Harry Fleming Page, died in 1971. She retired from GTE Sylvania, Montoursville, in 1976 after 31 years. She was a 1933 graduate of Williamsport High School. Born Feb. 25, 1916, in this city, she was a daughter of Samuel Cullen and Mary Elizabeth Helwig Lapp. Surviving are a son, Richard C. Mason of South Williamsport; two daughters, Mary Johnson of Austin, Tex., and Patricia R. Haight with whom she lived; three sisters, S. Katherine Link of this city, Dorothy Merlochi of Montoursville and Lois Reedman of Langhorne; eight grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother, Paul Lapp; a grandson, Eric Hull, and a great-grandson, Bradley Mason. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sanders’, 821 Diamond St., with the Rev.
