Theodore O. Elliott
Theodore O. Elliott, 69, of Park Avenue died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, in Williamsport Hospital. He and his wife, the former Kathleen “Donna” M. Andrews, observed their eighth wedding anniversary July 18. Formerly employed at Coopers in Muncy, he was a machinist for Grumman Olson Industries Inc. until 1997. He was an active member of the YMCA on Elmira Street. Elliott was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee and sang in the men’s choir. Born Dec. 30, 1930, in Philadelphia, he was a son of Benjamin and Odell Elliott. Surviving is a stepson, Ira Baker Jr. of Rockville, Md. He was preceded in death by three brothers. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the church, 433 Walnut St., with his pastor, the Rev. Spurgeon L. East, officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are being handled Allen and Redmond’s, 331 Elmira St.

Bailey J. McCarty
MONTGOMERY - Bailey J. (Bailey-Boppers) McCarty, 2, of 272 Brick Church Road, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, in Hershey Medical Center, Hershey. Born June 14, 1998, in Williamsport, he was a son of James and Jennifer Miller McCarty of Greenwood, S.C. He was raised by his maternal grandparents, James W. and Bonnie L. Miller, with whom he lived. Surviving, besides his parents and his maternal grandparents, are a sister, Kaitlyn N. McCarty of Greenwood; paternal grandparents, Dan McCarty and Roseann Pick, both of Montgomery; maternal great-grandmother, Alice Miller of Montgomery; maternal great-grandparents, James and Carol Lohman of Diamondhead, Miss.; paternal great-grandmother, Leone McCarty; paternal great-grandparents, Neil and Jane Pick; and maternal great-great-grandmother, Ruth Miller all of Montgomery. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church, 41 W. Houston Ave., Montgomery, with church pastor, Roosevelt Brown, officiating. Burial will be in the Elimsport Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 12:30 to 1 p.m. Tuesday. Arrangements are being handled Betzer’s, 40 E. Houston Ave.

Velma B. Nash
Velma B. Nash, 81, of Mainesburg, died on Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, in Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, N.Y. She was a member of the Bakerburg Community Church. Born on April 16, 1919, she was a daughter of Oswald and Mabel Hilfiger Benson. Surviving, besides her husband Warren, are two sons, Eldon of Mainesburg and Garth of Troy; a sister, Virginia Reynolds of Mainesburg; and one grandson. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wilston Funeral Home, Mansfield, with the Revs. Rev. Kenneth Marple and Ivan Mathewson officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy.

Mary Jane Grafius Neece
Mary Jane Grafius Neece, 83, of 100 Park Road, Montoursville, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, in the Williamsport Hospital. Her husband, John F. Neece, died Feb. 26, 1991. She was a machinist for the former U.S. Ribbon Co., Williamsport, and an employee of H. Warsaw and Sons, Montoursville. She was a member of the Church of Our Savior St. Agnes Guild, Montoursville, and a past president and treasurer of the Eugene Grafius American Legion Post 104 ladies auxiliary. She was a minority inspector for the Montoursville election board and a member of the Montoursville Fall Festival committee. Born April, 21, 1917, in Montoursville, she was a daughter of William and Ardella Littley Grafius. Surviving are, two daughters, Janice B. Clifford of Van Nuys, Calif., and Jeanne L. Fedinez of Montoursville; two sons, John C. of Muskegon, MI, and Jerry E. of Montoursville; two brothers, Thomas Grafius of South Williamsport and the Rev. H. Jerome Grafius, New Columbia; three sisters, H. Joanne Hamm and Rachel Boyles, both of Williamsport, and Charlotte Pittenger of Montoursville; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Church of Our Savior with the Reverends Richard A. Cohoon and H. Jerome Grafius officiating. Friends may call between 7 and 9 p.m. Monday at Spitler’s, 733 Broad St., Montoursville. Burial will be in Montoursville Cemetery. The family will provide the flowers.

James A. Winters
James A. Winters, 76, of Rose Valley, died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, in the Williamsport Hospital. He retired in 1979 from the former GTE Sylvania Co. after more than 25 years of service. He was a member of the GTE Sylvania Quarter Century Club. He was a member of the Stroke Club at the Gibson Rehabilitation Center. Winters attended the Christian Church at Cogan Station. He served in the Army in Europe following World War II, and received an occupation medal and a World War II Victory medal. He and his wife, the former Arlene L. Hayes, observed their 52 wedding anniversary last May 7. Born Nov. 4, 1924, in the city, he was a son of Robert A. and Marion Shafer Winters. Surviving, beside his wife, are two sons, Robert of Wilkes-Barre and Keith E. of this city; three daughters, Jane E. Cleveland and Gail D. Stroble and Ruth M. Evans all of Rose Valley; a brother, Leon of Elimsport, 10 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Hanley, and six brothers, Howard, Herbert, twins Richard and Robert, Carl and Fred. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sanders’, 821 Diamond St., with his pastor Harry R. (Bud) Yoder, officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. The family will provide the flowers.

Dr. William J. Emelau
WELLSBORO - Dr. William J. Emelau, 82, of Wellsboro, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital. His wife, the former Marguerite L. “Peg” Larson, died June 21, 1999. Emelau was a secondary school teacher in Duke Center, and East Salem. He was a podiatrist from 1955 until 1983, when he retired. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he was a superintendent of Sunday school and Deacon. He graduated from California State Teachers College in 1940 and Ohio College of Podiatry in Cleveland, Ohio in 1948. He was a member of the Wellsboro Rotary and a committee member for Boy Scouts, Troop 24. Emelau served in the Air Force during World War II. Born Sept. 28, 1918, in California, he was a son of William E. and Mary Harris Emelau. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew J. LaPoint. Surviving are a son, William V. West; a daughter, JoAnn M. Pritt; a sister, Mary Gloria Sweitzer of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and a grandchild, Jonas W. Etzwiler. Friends may call at Tussey-Mosher’s, 139 Main Street, from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Robert K. Greer officiating. Burial will be in Tioga County Memorial Gardens.

Ernest L. Fryer
JERSEY SHORE - Ernest L. Fryer, 57, of 52 Muthler Lane died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, in Williamsport Hospital. He was employed by United Parcel Service for more than 30 years. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He and his wife, the former Portia A. Burgin, observed their 35th wedding anniversary Dec. 26. Born July 16, 1943, in Jersey Shore, he was a son of Glenn G. and Relda Humphrey Fryer. Surviving, besides his mother of Avis and his wife, are a son, Kevin L.; two daughters, Stephanine A., and Sonja M. Terr of, Scranton; a brother, Kenneth E. of Kansas City, Mo.; and two grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Welker’s, 125 N. Main St., with the Rev. Phyma Day officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Gary Eugene Fuller
Gary Eugene Fuller, 34, of 11 Meadowview Court, Lewisburg, formerly of Muncy and Montgomery, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, in the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. He was employed at the J.P.M. Co. in Lewisburg. He enjoyed drawing, hunting and landscaping. Born Feb. 26, 1966, in Muncy Creek Township, he was a son of Ernest Hartman and Bonnie J. Fuller. Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Bonnie and Dennis Swartz; his father of Clearwater, Fla.; four sons, Joshua, Justin and Jeremy Person, all of Montgomery, and Daren Myers of Watsontown; three brothers, Kevin and Todd Miller, both of Lewisburg, and Rodney Hartman in North Carolina; three sisters, Shelly Evans of Lewisburg, and Amy and Amanda Hartman, both in North Carolina; grandparents, Clayton and Venita Fuller of Muncy. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Betzer’s, 108 N. Main St., Muncy, with the Rev. James R. Pentz officiating. Burial will be in the Muncy Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The family will provide the flowers.

Nola A. Hughson
Nola A. Hughson of 450 Center St. died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Rose View Center after a brief illness. Her husband, Russell A. Hughson, died July 18, 1965. Retiring in 1981, she was employed for 15 years at Lycoming College. She was a member of New Covenant United Church of Christ. Born in Durham, N.C., she was a daughter of Thomas R. and Pattie M. Frost Herndon. Surviving are four daughters, Joyce A. Biethan of Sun City, Calif., Pattie M. Bradshaw and Shirley C. Feigles of this city, and A. Gail Kilgus of Montoursville; a sister, Pauline Ellis of Victoria, Va.; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty J. Andrews, two sisters and a brother. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave., with the Rev. Bruce R. Druckenmiller, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. There will be no visitation - the family will provide the flowers.

Henry Edward Johnson
Henry Edward Johnson, 65, of Terrytown died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000. He and his wife, the former Grace Gowin, observed their 44th wedding anniversary March 4. He attended the Wyalusing Valley High School. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired in 1992 after 25 years at GTE Sylvania Corp., Towanda. He was an outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman. Surviving, besides his wife, are six sons; Kevin, Keith, Terry and Brad of Wyalusing, Grayl of New Albany, N.Y., and Scott of Overton; three daughters, Lisa of Meshoppen, Tina of Wyalusing, and Julie of Forksville; two brothers, William of Malvern and Ralph of Terrytown; three sisters, Marjorie of Honeybrook, Augusta of Ulster, and Sharon of Niles, Ohio; 17 grandchildren. The funeral will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Homer’s, Wyalusing.

Carl E. Nelson
Carl E. Nelson, 73, of Renovo died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000 at Bucktail Medical Center. Nelson was a welder at the Berwick Forge plant and also worked in the maintenance department of the Woolrich Mills. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Renovo American Legion and Sons of Italy. Born Aug. 20, 1927, in Renovo, he was a son of Julius and Eva Cowfer Nelson. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Anna Mae Brem, and by brothers Harold Watt and Robert. Surviving are a son, Michael of South Renovo; two brothers, Howard Watt in North Carolina and Franklin in Maryland; a sister Selma Ray in Maryland.; two grandchildren, Paul and VandyMae; and two-great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Renovo, at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Donald Boslett officiating. There will be no calling visitation. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hyner. Arrangements are being handled by Maxwell’s, Renovo.

Eva Jane Weaver
Eva Jane Weaver, 80, of Farrandsville, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Lock Haven Hospital. She and her husband, Arthur Lee, observed their 63rd wedding anniversary May 29. She was an inspector and weaver at the former Bloomsburg Mills and was employed by the West Co., Jersey Shore. She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Flemington and attended the People’s Church in Farrandsville. She was an auditor. Born March 20, 1920, in Swissdale, she was a daughter of Clarence M. and Anna Bodle Lannan. Surviving, besides her husband, are three sons, James of Glenolden, Lee of Mifflintown, and Paul of Farrandsville; a daughter, Olive Barton of Farrandsville; a sister, Josephine Lynch of South Williamsport; 12 grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Louise Carpenter; four brothers, Theodore, Chester, Kenneth, and Clarence Jr.; and a granddaughter, Margaret. The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Helt, Hanna, Kline’s, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall with the Rev. James Van Zandt officiating. Burial will be held at Remolo Christian Cemetery, Marsh Creek at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Remolo. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Laura Mae Yourell
BELLEFONTE - Laura Mae Yourell, 59, of Julian, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Centre Community Hospital, State College. Yourell was a cook for 13 years at Daunte’s Restaurant. She graduated from Bellefonte High School in 1960. She was an Army veteran. Born June 8, 1941, she was a daughter of Samuel Burton Kling and Evelyn M. Jodun Kling Eckley. She was preceded in death by two sisters, JoAnna June Johnson and Carole Jean McQuay; and a brother, David Lee Kling. Surviving are her husband, Frederick; a daughter, Kathleen E. Mergist of Lafayette, La.; three sons, Charles F. of Julian, David B. of Raeford, N.C., and William P. of Bellefonte; a brother, Joel Jodun Kling of Fort Lupton, Colo.; a sister Linda Kaye Gummo of Stormstown; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 11:30 a.m., with Reverend Robert A. Heydenreich II officiating. Burial will be at Centre County Memorial Park, 1032 Benner Pike, State College. Kathleen A. “Kay” Segraves, 62, a resident of Manor Care Health Services South, formerly of the 600 block Grace St., died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000, at the Williamsport Hospital emergency room. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Church of the Annunciation. Born March 22, 1938, in Rimersvurg, she was a daughter of Clarence and Nora Esbaugh Priester. Surviving are five sons, Robert Jr., Rodney, Wade and Randy, all of this city, and Brian of Norfolk, Va.; three daughters, Kim Forrest of this city, Mary Jennings of Canton, and Debra Berry of Elizabethtown; one brother, Durwood Priester of Rimersvurg; one sister, Lois Priester of Rimersvurg; 21 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Butler and Arveda Fowler. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, 702 W. Fourth St., with the Rev. John Kita officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Montoursville. Friends may call at Crouse’s, 133 E. Third St. from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. A vigil service will take place at 8 p.m.
