L. Kathleen Dieter, 65, of 73 Woodland Drive, Nisbet, went to be with the Lord Friday, October 5, 2001, at her home, following a lengthy illness.
She and her husband, William R. Dieter, Jr., were marriage 45 years February 4.
Born April 28, 1936 in Dushore a daughter of Daniel and Anna Peregrin Everling.
She retired in 1993 after 17 years with Susquehanna Regional Home Health & Hospice. She was a 1954 graduate of the former Loyalsock Joint High School in Estalla.
Surviving, besides her husband, are daughters Cynthia L. Rice of DuBoistown, L. Gale Kuntz of Trout Run, Merriann K. Way of Montoursville and Danielle W. Dieter of Allenwood; a brother, Daniel J. Everling of Marlton, NJ; sisters Joan Hubbard of South Williamsport, Delores Boerner of Croydon and Rita H. Everling of New Albany; 16 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.
Funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Avenue, with Rev. Francis L. Pauselli officiating. Visitation 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests donations to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Mary I. Murray
Mary I. "Belle" Murray, 102, a resident of 133 New Street, Muncy, PA, passed away peacefully at 7:30 A.M. on Friday, October 5, 2001 at the home of her daughter, Maraleane M. Murray, with whom she lived. Born July 9, 1899 in Lewis Twp., Northumberland Co, PA she was a daughter of the late Perry A. and Mary Isabelle (Gray) Derr. She was preceded in death by her husband, L. "Laz" Wilson Murray on June 1, 1966. Belle was a homemaker. She was an inactive member of the Muncy Unit of the Muncy Valley Hospital Auxiliary.
Her only immediate survivor is her daughter. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: three sisters, Laura Houseknecht, Salome Kirkner and Florence Fogelman and by three brothers, Lester Derr, Hammond Derr and Samuel Derr.
In keeping with her written wishes there will be no services. Interment will be in Muncy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are being handled by the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main Street, Muncy, PA.
William A. Phillips
William A. Phillips, age 93, of Picture Rocks, died October 5, 2001 at the Valley View Nursing Home. Arrangements by McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville.
Jack H. Roberts
Jack H. Roberts, Sr., 64, of 237 Main St., South Williamsport, died Friday, October 5, 2001, at the Williamsport Hospital. Born November 24, 1936, in Montrose, he was a son of Carl E. and M. Marie (English) King.
Mr. Roberts had been employed with Textron Lycoming for the past 35 years. He was a former governor of the Loyal Order of Moose 145 and former president of the Lycoming County Bowling Association. He was a co-founder of the Lycoming County Girls’ Softball Association and was an avid golfer and bowler.
On August 15, 1954, in Williamsport, he marriage the former Gloria J. Laudenslager, who survives, along with three sons, Jack Jr. of South Williamsport, Ritchie R. of Canton, MI and Scott A. of South Williamsport; two daughters, Robin M. Bitner of Pasadena, MD and Candy E. Clark of Covington; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Friends will be received on Sunday evening from 6-9 p.m. at Noll Funeral Home, 1 E. Central Ave., South Williamsport. There will be no public funeral services. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery. The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial donations be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Kendru W. Anderson
Kendru W. Anderson, 80, formerly of city, died Friday, October 12, 2001. Born in Muncy, he moved to Central Florida in 1979.
He was the owner of Anderson’s Mobile Homes and Used Cars, Inc. He was a Mason and Shriner and an avid golfer. He was a Methodist.
Mr. Anderson was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, USS Barb -SS310 - Submarine Division.
Surviving are his wife, Donna M.; sons Kendru Jr. and Dean, both of Louisville, KY, Gregory of CO and Jeffrey K. of Slatedale; daughter Phyllis Hudson of Louisville, KY; brother Carl of Muncy; sister Betty Bauer of Allentown and 12 grandchildren.
Tri-County Cremation of Longwood, FL is handling the cremation with burial to follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
E. Grace Grove
E. Grace Grove, 84, of 1900 Ravine Rd., Williamsport, formerly of Montoursville, died Tuesday, October 23, 2001, at her residence. Born June 15, 1917, in West Decatur, she was the daughter of Harvey B. and Edna R. Albert Grove.
She retired from the PA Department of Health as a supervisor of the State Nurses of Lycoming and Columbia County. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, the Cosmopolitan Club, the Cosmopolitan Nurses Assoc. and the Williamsport Hospital Auxillary. She was a volunteer for the Williamsport Hospital, the American Red Cross and the SPCA.
She is survived by a sister, Hazel Smith of Dunedin, FL; three nieces, Susan (Dave) Hoover, Betty (Bill) Mellor and Nancy (Joe) Van Voast and three nephews, John (Shirley) Brass, Alan (Kay) Landon and Andrew Landon. She was predeceased by sisters Mary E. Brass and Kathaleen G. Landon.
There will be a graveside service Thursday at 2 p.m. at Decatureville Cemetery, Blue Ball, PA with her cousin Rev. Glenn Gearhart officiating. Friends may call at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, Thursday from 9:30-11 a.m.

Elma Metzger-Heiny
Elma Metzger-Heiny, 96, of Milton and Bradenton, FL, died Saturday, October 20, 2001, at Manatee Memorial Hospital, Bradenton.
Born May 8, 1905, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Andrew W. and Grace Donnell Ritter. She was marriage to Donald L. Metzger, who preceded her in death in 1952. She then marriage Howard R. Heiny, who preceded her in death in 1986.
She was a 1923 graduate of Williamsport High School and a graduate of Williamsport business school. Mrs. Metzger-Heiny was a homemaker since 1964. Prior to that time, she worked as a secretary. She was a member of the Women’s Club of Williamsport. Mrs. Metzger-Heiny was a member of First Baptist Church, Milton.
Surviving are one son, Robert D. Metzger of RR1 Milton; one stepson, Arthur Heiny of Wellsboro; four granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one stepson, Robert Heiny, in 1973 and one sister, Mary Simpson, in 1969.
Visitors may call from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, Inc., 125 N. Front St., Milton. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home by the Rev. James R. Dries. Burial will be in Milton Cemetery.
Donald W. Mullings
Donald W. Mullings, 75, of Sarasota, FL, died October 18, 2001, in Sarasota. He was born January 10, 1926, in Jamaica, West Indies.
He was a veteran of WWII and a member of the Royal Air Force. He migrated to New York City in 1948. He was employed by Glamorise Foundations, Inc. from 1950-1998 and retired as vice-president of operations. He became a permanent resident of Williamsport in 1959 and retired to Sarasota in 1998.
He is survived by a son, Gary Mullings of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; two daughters, Pamela Young of Pittsburgh and Donna Harrison of Fort Washington, MD; a brother, Owen Mullings, Sr. of Nanuet, NY; a sister, Fay Chevannes of Nanuet, NY and six grandchildren, Charmaine, Elyse and Brett Young, Chelsea and Keenan Mullings and Reese Harrison.
A memorial service will be held October 27 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church. Donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
Robert L. Nevill
Robert L. Nevill, 91, of 1900 Ravine Rd., died Tuesday, October 23, 2001, in the Williamsport Home.
Born August 23, 1910, in Linden, he was the son of the late Charles and Harriet Lehman Nevill. His wife, the former Bernadine Fink, died in 1977.
He was the proprietor of Toy Appeal Novelties, a member of the South Williamsport Senior Citizens, and a member of Montoursville Presbyterian Church. He was an army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his companion of 24 years, Anne M. Copley of Williamsport.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Maneval Funeral Home, "A Life Celebration Home," 500 W. Fourth Street, with the Rev. Ollie Wagner officiating. Visitation 12-1. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
