Leonard P. Howlett, 65, of 211 Edgewood Ave., DuBoistown, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at home. He and his wife, the former Ann Cybulski, observed their 43rd wedding anniversary Sept. 14. Retiring in 1994, he was employed for 25 years with the City of Williamsport, Streets and Parks Department. Born Dec. 14, 1935, in this city, he was a son of William and Neva Claire Wright Howlett. Surviving, besides his wife, are a son, Lenny Howlett of South Williamsport; five daughters, Kathy Reed, Frances Russell and Gloria Smith, all with whom he resided, Marty Young of this city, and Carol Ravell of Richmond, Va.; two brothers, Frances and Joseph, both of this city; a sister, Virginia Swinehart of this city; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Howlett. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no funeral. Friends may call at Sanders’, 821 Diamond St., from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. The family will provide the flowers.

Dr. Daniel P. Kasambira
MANSFIELD - Dr. Daniel Pambai Kasambira, 72, of this borough died Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, in Chicago, Ill. He was a professor of sociology and social work for 27 years at Mansfield University. Born April 22, 1928, in Zimbabwe, Africa, he was a son of the Rev. Silas P. and Emily Mabaya Kasambira. Surviving are his wife, Edith of Mansfield; a son, Daniel T. Jr. of Chicago, Ill.; two daughters, Marcia M. R. Kasambira-Emerson of Houston, Texas and Emily I. R. Kasambira of Macon, Ga.; three brothers; four sisters; and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the Rev. Mercy M. Mujati-Kasambira, with whom he spent 41 years, a son, Edward, and three sisters. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church, here, with the Revs. Joy Hulslander and Dr. Carl L. White Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Salem-St. Paul Cemetery. Friends may call at Scureman’s, 130 S. Main St., from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

Ruth L. Collins
MORRIS - Ruth L. Collins, 86, of this borough died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at the Green Home, Wellsboro. Her husband, Joseph Collins, died in 1971. She was a homemaker. She attended Morris United Methodist Church. Born April 5, 1914, in Galeton, she was a daughter of Frank and Mary Schaner Osborn. Surviving are a son, Donald of Morris; two daughters, Naomi Patt of Wellsboro and Marjorie Kriner of Morris; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Tussey-Mosher’s, 139 Main St., Wellsboro, with the Rev. Maxine Mills officiating. Burial will be in West Branch Cemetery, Delmar Township. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Sarah B. Warren
WELLSBORO - Sarah Bartlett Warren, 97, a resident of the Green Home, formerly of Elkland, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at home. She was a homemaker and a poet. Previously she was co-owner, along with her husband, of Warren’s Drug Store, Elkland, for many years. She was a member of Elkland United Methodist Church. She was born Aug. 23, 1903, in Williamsport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross, and a son, Robert. A memorial service will be scheduled. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Elkland. Arrangements are being handled by Kenyon’s, Elkland.

Josephine M. Watkins
JERSEY SHORE - Josephine M. Watkins, 90, formerly of 210 Clinton St., Avis and the Susque View Nursing Home, Lock Haven, died Monday, Jan 1, 2001, at Manor Care Health Services, here. Her husband, Harry Edward Watkins Jr. died March 19, 1994. She worked on the nursing staff at Jersey Shore Hospital for a number of years. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Lock Haven. She was an Army veteran, serving with the Womens Army Corps and received the Victory medal. Born May 2, 1910, in Dusseldorf, Germany, she was a daughter of Joseph and Josephine Daxberger. Surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister. The funeral will be at noon Saturday at Yost-Gedon’s, 121 W. Main St., Lock Haven, with the Rev. Barbara Bond officiating. Burial will be in Woolrich Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Dr. Neil D. Wilson
SOUTH AVIS - Dr. Neil D. Wilson, 71, of 441 Fifth Ave. died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, in the Jersey Shore Hospital emergency room. He was a licensed psychologist and conducted a private practice at his home. He retired in 1984 after 20 years at Lock Haven University, where he served as chairman of the psychology department. A graduate of Brockport State College, he received a master’s degree from Columbia University, New York City, and his doctorate from Penn State University. He had been chairman of the Green Party in Clinton County. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. Born July 27, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a son of Harry E. and Metta E. Stephenson Wilson. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary K. Barger Domino; two sons, Keith S. of Jersey Shore and Christopher D. of Lindenhurst, N.Y.; a daughter, Debra A. Wilson of Columbia, Md.; a stepdaughter, Maria E. Domino of Jersey Shore; a stepson, Nicolas S. Domino of Jersey Shore; and five grandchildren. The service will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Welker’s, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore.

Harry W. Grubb
LOCK HAVEN - Harry W. Grubb, 79, of 34 N. Highland St. died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, in Lock Haven Hospital. He and his wife, the former Lois E. Yorks, would have observed their 59th wedding anniversary Jan. 19. Retiring in 1976, he was employed for 36 years as an electrician by Hammermill. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as head cook for the hot lunch program at Lock Haven Christian School. He was a 1940 graduate of Lock Haven High School. He was past president of the Hammermill union. He was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Born Oct. 16, 1921, in Lockport, he was a son of Paul and Edith Crissman Grubb. Surviving, besides his wife, are a son, Harry E. of Lock Haven; two daughters, Connie M. Eisenhauer of Lock Haven and Colleen A. Grubb of Cogan Station; a brother, Paul D. of Lock Haven; a sister, Beverly J. Bowen of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Mae Slenker. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Walker’s, 231 High St., Flemington, with the Rev. Jeffrey Bayliff officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Alice M. Kilkenny
Alice M. Kilkenny, 96, formerly of Mainesburg, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at the Green Home, Wellsboro. Her husband, William Kilkenny, died in 1945. She was a retired piano, organ and violin teacher. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Mansfield. Born Dec. 3, 1904, in Ostergotland, Sweden, she was a daughter of Gustaf and Alma Ljungquist Carlson. Surviving are a son, Gustave Kilkenny of Mainesburg; and three grandchildren, Christopher Kilkenny, Susan Hunt and Tracy Halkowicz. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Wilston’s, 18 N. Main St., Mansfield, with the Rev. Rudolph VanderHiel officiating. Burial will be in Brookland Cemetery, Ulysses. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday.

Vivian R. Hunter
JERSEY SHORE - Vivian R. Hunter, 89, formerly of 311 Smith St., died Monday, Jan. 1, 2000 in Manor Care Health Center, here. Her husband, Oliver Hunter, died in 1998. She was a 1929 graduate of Jersey Shore High School. She was a Stanley Home Products dealer for 42 years. She was a member of the Church of St. Luke and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a past president of Jersey Shore Elks Lodge 1057 Ladies Auxiliary. Born, Dec. 30, 1911, she was a daughter of Edward L. and Mabel Cree Clarke. Surviving are a son, Jay Klinefelter of Williamsport; two daughters, Karen A. Reid of Jersey Shore and Richie L. Allen of Williamsport; a granddaughter; a stepson, Richard F. Hunter of Orlando, Fla.; 7 stepgrandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Jean Moore of Williamsport and Betty Sabatino of Jersey Shore. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of St. Luke, 120 Kendall Ave., with the Rev. Andrew S. Hvozdvic officiating. Burial will be in the Jersey Shore Cemetery. The family will provide flowers. Arrangements are being handled by Welker’s, 125 N. Main St.

Ralph Waldo Gray
CANTON - Ralph Waldo Gray, 81, a borough resident, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, in Bradford County Manor. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a retired employee of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He was a resident of McCallum Manor and regularly attended the Canton Senior Citizens Center. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and shooting pool. He was an avid baseball fan. Born here Jan. 19, 1919, he was a son of Charles D. and Velma Stevenson Gray. Surviving are two brothers, Willis of Canton and Donald in California; Two sisters, Mildred Van Dyke of East Canton and Doris Kennedy of Horseheads, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Morse and Kleese’s, 40 N. Center St., with the Rev. David B. Morris of the Canton Church of Christ (Disciples) officiating. Burial will be in Bradford County Memorial Park, Luthers Mills. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday.

Sharon L. Harootunian
LOCK HAVEN - The funeral and burial will be here Thursday for Sharon Louise Grand Harootunian, 48, of Norristown, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a long illness. She and her husband, Edward A. Harootunian Jr., were married Aug. 9, 1999. She was controller for Builders and Managers a shopping mall developer in Wilmington, Del. She had been co-owner of Village Cleaners in West Chester from 1989-1997. She was a graduate of Turtle Creek High School and a 1974 graduate of Penn State University with a degree in business and accounting. She was a Methodist. Born Aug. 21, 1952, in Wilkinsburg, she was a daughter of Thomas F. Sr. and Barbara Cann Grand. Her father was born here. Surviving, besides her husband and her mother of Monroeville, are two brothers, Thomas F. Grand II of Murrysville and Michael W. Grand of Wellsboro, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Yost-Gedon’s, 121 W. Main St., with the Rev. Bruce Wallace of East Main Street United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Margaret I.L. Romaine
Margaret I. Lutz Romaine, 90, formerly of Montoursville, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, in Valley View Nursing Center. Her husband, William B. Romaine, died in 1968. She was formerly employed by Lycoming College. Born Nov. 14, 1910, in Somerset, Ky., she was a daughter of Norris and Lottie Edler Myers. Surviving are two sons, Carl F. Lutz Sr. of Montoursville and Robert E. Lutz of Fort Collins, Colo.; a daughter, Ann L. Mann of Marietta, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl E. Lutz, who died in 1950. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Spitler’s, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with the Rev. Paul C. Murphy of Faith United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday. The family will provide the flowers.

Vida G. Barnard
LOCK HAVEN - Vida G. Barnard, 89, of 11 S. Jones St. died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, in Lock Haven Hospital. Her husband, Alvin H. Barnard, died April 1992. She was employed by Sylvania, was a domestic for two Lock Haven families, and was a custodian for the Clinton County Courthouse. She was a member of First Church of Christ. She was a 1930 graduate of Lock Haven High School. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Born June 10, 1911, in Castanea Township, Clinton County, she was a daughter of Alexander J. and Anna C. Lovett Reeder. Surviving are a daughter, Joyce A. Lomison of Lock Haven RR; two grandchildren; one step grandson; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Walker’s, 231 High St., Flemington, with the Rev. Michael Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday.

Rev. Donald K. Young,

The Rev. Donald K. Young, 40, of 334 W. Slippery Rock St., Chicora, formerly of this city, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, as a result of injuries in an automobile accident in East Franklin Township, near Kittanning. He and his wife, the former Wendy Woodward, observed their 7th wedding anniversary Sept. 18. He was pastor of St. John’s Reformed Church, Chicora. He was a former youth pastor at Lycoming Centre Presbyterian Church, Cogan Station. He was a graduate of Northeastern Bible College of N.J., where he received a bachelor of arts degree in biblical literature. He was a graduate of Biblical Theological Seminary of Hartfield, where he received a master of arts degree and his master of divinity degree. He was president of the Petroleum Valley Ministerium and was involved with the Petroleum Valley Food Cupboard. Born June 16, 1960, in Abington, Montgomery County, he was a son of George and Elizabeth Ann Liss Young. Surviving, besides his wife, are his parents of Palm Coast, Fla.; three daughters, Asja, Audrey and Faith, all at home; two brothers, Roger William of Morgantown and Kenneth George of Manheim; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. John’s Reformed Church, 334 W. Slippery Rock St., Chicora, with the Rev. Mark Wallace and several ministers from Chicora area churches officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Williamsport. Friends may call at Steighner’s, Chicora, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

M. Fay Sember
M. Fay Sember, 83, formerly of 900 block Franklin St., died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Hillside Assisted Living Community. Her husband, Stephen J. Sember, died April 9, 1999. She was a homemaker. She was a lifelong member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. She was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crochet and artwork. Born July 31, 1917, in this city, she was a daughter of James F. and Emily M. Yott Ade. Surviving are two daughters, Delene S. Engel and Susan C. Overdorf, both of this city; four grandchildren, Kenneth W. Engel, Kristen Wilson, R. Jeffrey Engel and Erik Nordstorm; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Ade and a sister, Catherine O’Connor. The prayer service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Crouse’s, 133 E. Third St., with the Rev. Charles Cummings officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery. The family will provide the flowers.

Robert F. McKissick
WELLSBORO - Robert “Bob” F. McKissick, 41, of this borough died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at the home of his parents. He was employed by various service industries. He attended First Baptist Church, Wellsboro. He was a member of the Vets Club and American Legion. He was a nuclear armament specialist in the Air Force for eight years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Born May 12, 1959, in Patuxent River, Md., he was a son of Robert F. and Rosemary A. McCullough McKissick. Surviving are his wife, the former Melissa K. Doan; his parents; three daughters, Michelle McKissick of Wellsboro, and Jennifer and Jessica Slocum, both of Osceola; two sisters, Terry Ann Kohler of Niles Valley and Mary Ellen Rhodes of Montoursville; and nieces and a nephew. The memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Tussey-Mosher’s, 139 Main St., with the Revs. Michael J. Sullivan and John McNassor officiating. Private burial will be in Wellsboro Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday.

George P. Missimer
JERSEY SHORE - George P. Missimer, 67, of 523 Canoe Run Road died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at home. He was a retired truck driver. He attended Jersey Shore Presbyterian Church. Born here June 3, 1933, he was a son of C. Newton and Mary B. Shaw Missimer. Services and burial in Jersey Shore Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Welker’s, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore.
