Collins C. (Red) Sykes, 90, of 41 Mill St., Montoursville, died Saturday, March 3, 2001 at his residence. His wife, the former Lois H. Bower, died January 4, 1992. Mr. Sykes retired as a truck driver from the former Folmar Trucking, Williamsport. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, the Eugene Grafius Post 104, Montoursville, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Williamsport. He was a WWII, Army Veteran and a recipient of a purple heart. Born July 6, 1910 in Ricketts, Pa., he was the son of William and Carrie Sykes. He is survived by two sons, Robert A. and William H. of Williamsport, a daughter, Grace B. Bowling of Montoursville, a brother, Oscar Sykes of Frederick, MD, 12 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Adams. The funeral will be Thursday 10 a.m. at Spitler’s, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with the Rev. Ronald D. Savitts officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Clinton Twp. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 7-9 p.m.

Frank A. Wilcox, 92, died March 4, 2001 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Greg Zander. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Wed. at the Pepper Funeral Home, Canton. Burial will be private.
Kathryn R. Biggar
Kathryn Rebecca Biggar, 89, of Muncy, formerly of Pennsdale, died Sunday, March 4, 2001, at her home. Her husband of 66 years, Chester V. Biggar, died Nov. 19, 1995. Born Nov. 3, 1911 in Moreland Twp., she was the daughter of Alvin & Susan Miller Sherwood. She was a member of Hughesville Evangelical Friends Church. Kathryn enjoyed gardening, needlework and fishing. She is survived by 35 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Levi and John and 4 sisters, Nora Holdren, Alice Gray, Myrtle Croman and Hazel Craig. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Hughesville Evangelical Friends Church, 137 S. Third St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Dan Cale officiating. Burial will be in Moreland Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10-11 a.m. Friday. The family will provide the flowers. Emily Kaley Goodhart, 97, formerly of Williamsport, died March 2, 2001, in Greenwich, Conn. Her husband of 60 years, Luther William Goodhart, died in 1986. Born March 29, 1903, in this city, she was the daughter of Elmer & Emma Logan Kaley. Having been a teacher, her first assignment was Mosquito Valley School, a one-room building. Surviving are 2 sons, Goodwyn K. of NY and David R. of Lewisburg; 6 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
Harley E. Keller, Sr.
Harley E. “Bill” Keller, Sr., 70, of 2216 Lincoln St., Williamsport, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at his home. He and his wife, the former Constance M. Andrews, celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary December 14. Mr. Keller was born January 5, 1931, in Williamsport, a son of Stanley E. and Reba Phillips Keller. He served in the Navy from 1948 to 1950. He was employed by Kibbe Boiler Service. Surviving, besides his wife, are four daughters: Linda K. Heller and Constance Mae Matthews of city, Kathy Elaine Kilgore of Aniston, AL, and Deborah Y. Shaffer of Huntersville; two sons: Harley E., Jr. and Mark Wayne Keller of city; six sisters: Arlene Markley, Lorraine Michaels, Sylvia Coleman, Deanna Kepler and Lou Linda Hill of city and Patricia Caputo of South Williamsport; a brother Michael Keller of city; 35 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday from Sanders’, 821 Diamond Street, with the Rev. Craig A. Schaeffer, pastor of Williamsport Assembly of God, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10-11 a.m. Friday.
John P. Reich
John P. Reich, 58, 2069 Riverside Drive, South Williamsport, PA, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at the Williamsport Hospital and Medical Center. Mr. Reich was employed by Kellogs’ for the past 14 years as a maintenance mechanic. He was a member of Ivy Lodge 397 F.&A.M., Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Williamsport. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed boating trips in Canada. He was born September 22, 1942, in Williamsport, a son of the late John R. and Helen Burczanowski Reich. Mr. Reich and his wife, the former Janice R. Stroble, observed their 36th wedding anniversary this past September 12th. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Kristi Lynn Hudson, DuBoistown, and Jessica Reich, at home; a son, Steven, Williamsport; a brother, Stephen H. Reich, Williamsport; and a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Brown, Huntingdon, PA. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, at Noll’s, 1 E. Central Ave., South Williamsport. The Rev. Steven Brauner, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Avis, will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. until the time of the service. The family will provide the flowers. Interment will be a the convenience of the family at Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy, PA. Contributions in memory of Mr. John P. John C. Rohm
John “Toot” C. Rohm, 68, of Muncy, left this Earth and went to be with the Lord at 2:30 a.m. on March 5, 2001, after saying goodbye to his wife, children and grandchildren. He died peacefully at home. He was a faithful husband, loving father, caring brother, very proud grandfather, loyal friend, and a spiritual mentor to many. He was instrumental in founding several churches in the Muncy area. He faithfully served as a Sunday school teacher, elder, deacon and choir member. He was a member of New Hope Community Fellowship, Muncy. He was born in Muncy on August 30, 1932, the son of Eleanor Caroline Wertman and Carlton James Rohm. He graduated from Muncy High School in 1951 with 11 varsity letters in football, baseball and wrestling. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired in 1990 after being employed for 39 years at Sprout-Waldren/Andritz-Bower. He was a foreman for 20 years in the machine shop. He played softball in the Industrial League for 30 years, where he was named MVP several times in the play-offs. He was a member of the Sprout-Waldren Quarter Century Club, NRA, Sulphyr Springs Rifle Club, White Deer Golf Club, and American Legion Post 268. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, the former Helen McGinniss; 4 daughters and son-in-laws, Connie & Jim Nuss of Muncy, Cathy & Stan Hurst of Carlisle, Sharon & Rev. Mark Inman of Milton, Del., and Laura & Craig Johnson of Muncy; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer Nuss Noll, Michelle Nuss Forsythe, Jason Nuss, Joshua Hurst, Erin, Kyle & Dana Inman, and Courtney Johnson; 2 sisters, Tanya Hendershot of LaBelle, Fla., and Karla Hanner of Muncy. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Robert M. “Bobby” Rohm of Bloomsburg. He enjoyed golfing and spending winters with his wife at their Florida residence. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. Funeral arrangements made by Wallis-Grenoble Funeral Home, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. The viewing will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Delaware Run Wesleyan Church, Watsontown. Pastor Mike Reece and Pastor Mark Inman will be officiating, with Dr. Harry Dilcher and Bill Eck assisting. Burial will be in Muncy Cemetery. Martha A. Wilson, 65, of 622 Campbell St., Williamsport, died Monday, March 5, 2001, at home. She and her husband, Wilbert P. Wilson, celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary Aug. 25. Born Nov. 12, 1935, in this city, she was a daughter of William and Marion Hughes Sweeting. She was a homemaker, a member of Church of the Annunciation, where she was a member of the church Altar and Rosary Society and a member of the Duboistown Garden Club. Surviving, besides her husband, are 2 sons, Wilbert P. Jr., and Patrick W., both of this city; 4 daughters, Dorothy E. Hilliard of city, June Wilson Moore of Lancaster, Marian V. Wilson and Hope E. Wilson, both of Cinn., Ohio; 2 brothers, William and Bernard Sweeting, both of this city; a sister, Mamie Diggs of this city; and 5 grandchildren. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Thursday, 9:30 a.m., at the church, corner of West Fourth & Walnut streets, with her pastor, the Rev. John Manno, officiating. There will be no visitation. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Montoursville. The family will provide the flowers. Crouse Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Elwood M. Bastian
Elwood M. Bastian, 81, 102 Logan Lane, Hughesville, formerly of Muncy RR3, died at his home on Wednesday, March 7, 2001. He and his wife, the former Jessie M. Muse, would have been married 55 years on June 15th. He was born in Brady Twp. on March 24, 1919, the son of the late William and Grace (Six) Bastian. He had farmed in Muncy RR3 from 1946-1982. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the former Stone Church in Brady Twp. and most recently St. John’s Lutheran (Brick) Church, Montgomery. He belonged to the White Deer Hunting Camp, Muncy Blue Lodge 299 F&AM, and a life member of the Susquehanna Boat Club, Montgomery. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, auctions and working in his garden. He is survived by his wife Jessie at home; two daughters, Mrs. Fonda Jane (Robert) Stamets of Montgomery and Mrs. Sara Faye (Gary) Hmurcik of Kirkwood, New York. Also surviving are two brothers, Robert S. Bastian of Muncy, William R. Bastian of Loganton, and a grandson, Chandler Hmurcik. Funeral services will be Saturday, 11 a.m., at St. John’s Lutheran (Brick) Church, Montgomery, with his pastor, Rev. Scott W. Baker officiating. Burial will be in the church Cemetery. Josephine I. Dolan
Josephine I. Dolan, 92 of Union Avenue, Williamsport, died Tuesday, March 6. She was born in Williamsport, August 21, 1908, the daughter of William J. and Bridget O’Connell McGee. She was the widow of Arthur Francis Dolan who died in 1970. She graduated from St. Joseph High School, Williamsport and St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, Philadelphia. She was a school nurse for the Williamsport School District for 15 years. She was a member of the Church of the Annunciation Catholic Church, a former member of its Altar and Rosary Society, the Senior Citizens Club and Divine Providence Hospital Auxiliary. Two daughters, Maureen A. Dincher and husband Charles J. of Finksburg, Maryland, and Kathleen A. Fry and husband Karl of Williamsport, 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandson survive her. She was preceded in death by five sisters, Mary Scweikle, Kathleen Vannucci-Pepperman, Sr. Marie Agnes, Eleanor McFadden and Irene McGee; and two brothers, William and James Dolan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 10 at 9:30 a.m. at Church of the Annunciation, 701 West Fourth Street. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, March 9, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira Street. Marjorie T. Gardner
Marjorie T. Gardner, 84, of East Point, died March 6 at Williamsport Hospital. Born April 2, 1916 in Ogdensburg, she was the daughter of H. Tracy & Viola Groover Jackson. She was a member of East Point Methodist Church, Ladies Aid, Polyanna’s and Sebring Grange. Marjorie was a loving mother and grandmother. Surviving are children & their spouses: Ronald (Carol) Carey of Canton, Joyce (Joseph) Blair & Joan (Roland) Kehres, all of Roaring Branch, Susan (John) Heyler of Morris and Judith Bergenstock of Lock Haven; stepsons Gerald Gardner of Towanda and Milton Gardner of Florida; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; a special step granddaughter; 3 brothers and 4 sisters. She was predeceased by her first husband, Archie Carey and second husband, Wayne Gardner. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Fri., at Pepper Funeral Home, Canton. Laura B. Reed, 83, of 2206 Lycoming Creek Rd., died March 7, 2001, at home following a brief illness. She was a homemaker and a member of the Williamsport Assembly of God. Born August 22, 1917, she was a daughter of Charles and Ida M. Kriger Lowmiller. Surviving are six sons, Herbert J. Baylor, Jr., Richard A. Gamble and Terry L. Gamble, all of Williamsport, Ronald C. Gamble, Elimsport; Paul E. Reed, New Columbia; Craig A. Reed, Elimsport; five daughters, Doris L. Gee, Williamsport; Helen L. Bubb, Linden; Joan L. Freezer, Cogan Station; Joanne L. Evans, Oval; Judy L. Kline, Williamsport; two sisters, Martha Walters, Pittsburgh and Florence Williams, Turbotville, 26 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, Donald and James Lowmiller, two sisters, Virginia Reynolds and Eleanor Breon and a granddaughter, Gina Marie Reed. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Montoursville Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The family will provide the flowers. Alfred B. Cupp, 83, of Melbourne, FL, died Thursday, March 8, 2001. Born in Williamsport, he was the former owner of Cupp’s Dairy. He moved to Florida in 1963. He was a Christian and an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Cora; daughters, Dottie Montgomery of Williamsport, Patti Cupp & Nancy DeBusk, both of Melbourne, FL and Janis Quiles of Orlando, FL; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and a brother, Earl Cupp of Williamsport. He is predeceased by his son, Alan Cupp and parents, Elizabeth and Lewis Cupp.
Mary K. Fye
Mary Kathryn (Corwin) Fye, age 86, of Tioga, PA, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2001 at the home of her son in Tioga, PA. She was born on September 9, 1914 in Tioga County, PA, the daughter of the late George and Velma (Whitney) Corwin. Mary was the widow of the late Ray W. Fye, who passed away on January 11, 1966. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Tioga, PA. Mary was also a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her son, Junior (Helen) Fye of Tioga, PA; daughter, Kathleen L. (Edward) McCombie of Clymer, PA; grandchildren, Brian (Suzanne) McCombie, Emily McCombie, Marianne McCombie and fiance, John, Bobby Junior (Gia) Fye, Sarah McCombie, and Bill Ray Fye and his fiance, Julie; great grandchildren, Billy Junior Fye, Steve Ray Fye, Danielle Ellen Fye, and Michael Ray Fye. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary is predeceased by her grandson in 1974. Friends are invited to call at Scureman Funeral Home, 130 S.
