Emory C. Rarick, 88, of 846 E. Winter Rd., Loganton, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002 at the Evangelical Community Hospital.
He was predeceased by his wife Winona B. Rarick.
Born on October 8, 1913 in Zion Grove, Pa., the son of Edwin C. Rarick and Cora Singley Rarick.
He was a former proprietor of a stone quarry in Chester County and a U.S. Army WWII veteran.
He is survived by one daughter, Carol Rupert, Mohnton, Pa. and one step-daughter, Elaine Sproul, Manchester, MD.; 3 brothers Sterling, Ringtown, Pa., Sam, Catawissa, Pa., and Earl, Zion Grove, Pa; 5 sisters, Mabel Rarick, DeBary, Fl., Bessie Neal, Bryn Mawr, Pa., Olive Greene, Waikoloa, Hawaii, and Alma Gearhart, Ringtown, Pa.; 2 grandchildren; 5 step-grandsons, and 5 step-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, Main and Water Sts. Loganton. The Rev. Anke Deibler will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Rosecrans. Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Helen M. Winner Seidel

Helen M. Winner Seidel, 95, of 445 Brentwood Drive, Cogan Station, went to be the the Lord on Friday, February 22, 2002, at Manor Care North, where she was currently a guest.
Born December 21, 1906 in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Oswell and Margaret Lenhart Winner. She has been married for 45 years to C. Frank Seidel, who preceded her in death in 1974. He was vice president and general manager of the J.K. Rishel Furniture Co. in Williamsport, and Loisburg, N.C. for over 45 years. She is also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Bostdorf and Olive Winner, and six brothers, Joseph, Thomas, Oswell, Stanley, Grant, and James.
Helen was a graduate of Williamsport High School and attended Dickinson Seminary. At one time she was a buyer of children’s clothing for Brozmans of Williamsport, and was a supervisor at the Plankenhorn Co. She was a member of the Market St. (Wesley) Methodist Church since 1939, and was a lifetime member of the Eliza Barnes Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 321.
She was a former member of Senior Citizens of Lewisburg where she formerly resided, and during WW II, she was very active with the American Red Cross. She enjoyed traveling the Ocean, gardening, flowers, cooking, and especially her family.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. Charles F. Seidel, with whom she resided, George R. (Marti) Seidel, Zebulon, N.C. Daughter in law, Anne Seidel, Mansfield, Special Niece’s Helen Badis, Plymouth Meeting. and Virginia Long, Clifton Spring, N.Y. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Gregory Scott (Karen) Seidel, Montoursville, Pamela K. (Ray) Knapp, Trout Run, Geoffrey J.S. (Kelly) Seidel, Sayre, Randall R. (Martha) Seidel Burnt Chimney, VA., Becki (Mark) Wilson Florence, S.C., Colin D. Clark, Atlanta, GA. And by great-grandchildren; Kirsten Knapp, Zachary Seidel, Ryan Knapp, Jason Wilson, Bryan Wilson, Zachary Wilson, Hazel Seidel, Debbie Seidel, and Jeffery Pautz.
The funeral will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, With Sister Celine M. Smith, officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. Visitation will be on Monday from 7-9, at the funeral home.

Daniel P. Doud, Ph.D., 64, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Lawrenceville, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center, Pittsburgh.

Marion Evelyn Grassley, 73, formerly of Lock Haven, died Feb. 21, 2002, at the Jefferson Manor Health Center, Brookville.
Survivors include one step-brother, Harold C. Yost of Castanea; one stepsister, Pauline Donovan of El Cajon, CA and one cousin, Elsie Harris of Lamar.
Graveside services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Dunnstown Cemetery with Rev. James VanZandt. There will be no visitation.

John J. Kruskie

John J. Kruskie, 68, of 400 Lycoming St. died Feb. 8, 2002, at the Williamsport Hospital.
He was born March 31, 1933, in Mt. Carmel, the son of Joseph and Emma Miller Kruskie.
He was a member of the Church of the Annunciation, where he was an usher. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 1 and the 40 et8 Club.
He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, the former Nancy Witmer Kruskie; a sister, Dorothy Swalina of Shamokin and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Church of the Annunciation, W. Fourth and Walnut Sts. on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery.

Madeline Mann

Madeline Mann, 73, of Corning, NY, died Feb. 21, 2002, in Tioga.
She was born May 29, 1928, in Oakton, VA, the daughter of William and Dora Downs Hunt.
Madeline was a retiree of Corning Inc. and a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sisters, Agnes Shellman and Teresa Mattison, both of Tioga, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence, in 1963 and two brothers, William and Ralph Hunt.
Friends are invited to call at the Wilston Funeral Home, 18 N. Main St., Mansfield, on Monday, 7-9 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 8:30.

Harold A. Trutt, of Watsontown, died Feb. 21, 2002.
He retired in 1984 from Textron/Lycoming (AVCO).
Survivors include his wife, Alvena and children and their spouses JoAnna (Warren) Sampsell, Blaine (JoAnn) Trutt, Stevia (Milford) Cloud and Renee (Robert) Corradetti and six grandchildren.

Kenneth Andrew "Andy" Balliet, 28, of 402 Gillespie Road, Central, SC, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
He was a 1992 graduate of Muncy High School, where he was active in Student Council and lettered on the football and baseball teams. While growing up in Muncy, he played on the American Legion Little League baseball team and was selected to the All Star team in 1986. He was a member and later a coach of the Muncy Swim Team and also worked as a lifeguard at the Patrizio Pool.
He studied at Penn College before transferring to Clemson University. While at Clemson, he was a member of the University Guide Association, Orientation Ambassador, the IPTAY Collegiate Club and worked in the Fike Recreation Center as a lifeguard. In December 1998, he received his B.A. degree from Clemson in Speech and Communications. He then accepted the position of Undergraduate Admissions Counselor in the spring of 1999.
He was a member of the Carolina’s Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and the Southern Association for College Admissions Counseling. He was working toward his Masters Degree and enjoyed playing golf. He was also a member of the PA Association of Student Councils, where he was on the workshop staff for nine years.
He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Muncy.
Born Nov. 6, 1973, in Danville, he was the son of James Richard and Roberta Ann Burns Balliet.
Surviving are his mother, Roberta Balliet of Central, SC; one brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Corina Balliet of Coopersburg; his maternal grandmother, Ruth Burns of Central, SC and his maternal grandfather, Robert M. Burns of Danville.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at St. James Episcopal Church, 215 S. Main St., Muncy. Officiating will be the Rev. Michael Bye of Charlotte, NC, and the Rev. Joseph Gatto of Richmond, VA, former church pastors. Interment will be in Muncy Cemetery.
Friends will be received at Wallis-Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, on Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorial services are being held today on the Clemson University campus in South Carolina.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the Andy Balliet Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Clemson University, 110 Daniel Drive, Clemson, SC 29631.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alpheus Albert Flanigan, Jan. 16, 1989.
Survivors include two sons, a daughter, three brothers, two sisters, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ariana Renee Francis, infant daughter of Jamie Jude Francis and Kimberly A. Evans Berger of Montoursville, died at birth on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at Williamsport Hospital.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. James Francis of Williamsport; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alden Evans, Sr. of Trout Run and two sisters Kati and Audrey Berger, at home.
