Jerry A. Tanley, 47, of Muncy, passed away unexpectedly Nov. 14, 2008, in the Emergency Room of Muncy Valley Hospital.
Born March 15, 1961, in Lake Crystal, Minnesota, he was the son of Jean (Mosher) Tanley of Lake Crystal and the late Albert Tanley.
On Oct. 9, 2002 he married the former Michelle Rosini, celebrating six years of marriage.
A native of Minnesota, he had resided in Minneapolis for several years until relocating to Pennsylvania in 1999.
In 2006 he graduated from McCann School of Technology, Sunbury and was employed at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville where he worked with computer software. Earlier in life he had worked in the printing industry.
He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the American Legion.
Surviving, in addition to his mother and wife, are a brother, Denny of Lake Crystal, MN; two sisters, Mary (Richard) Rengstorf of Lake Crystal, MN and Shirley (David) Leonard of Sierra Vista, AZ; and his wife’s parents, Charles and Pauline Rosini of Shamokin.
A memorial service was held Nov. 18, at 2 p.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Turbotville with the Rev. Erwin C. Roux officiating. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 1704 Warren Ave., Williamsport, Pa 17701 or a charity of one’s choice.
Arrangements were entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway Street, Turbotville.
Joshua Wade “Josh” Biddle
Joshua Wade “Josh” Biddle, 23, of Turbotville, passed away Nov. 11, 2008 from injuries sustained in an accident in Montour County.
Born Sept. 10, 1985 in Lewisburg, he was the son of Wade S. Biddle, Turbotville and Lisa J. (Dewald) Laidacker of Hughesville.
A 2004 graduate of Warrior Run High School, he was a self-employed contractor on various construction projects in the area. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and hunting and was a Gift-Of-Life donor.
Surviving in addition to his parents, is a sister, Lindsey A. Biddle of Turbotville; his maternal grandmother, Catherine Dewald, Turbotville; his paternal grandparents, Dolores and Donald Metzger, Muncy, and his step-father, Gary Laidacker, Hughesville.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Lester Dewald who died in 1990.
A memorial service was held Nov. 14 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Paradise Street, Turbotville, with the Rev. Erwin C. Roux officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Evangelical Community Hospital Emergency Services, One Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837.

Joanne M. Castlebury
January 26, 1933 - February 19, 2021
Joanne M. Castlebury, 88, a lifelong resident of Muncy, went home to be with her Lord on Friday, February 19, 2021 in the UPMC Williamsport. Born Thursday, January 26, 1933 at Muncy, Lycoming Co., PA she was a daughter of the late Wesley Harold and Pearl Marie (Baker) Hackenberg.
Joanne was a 1951 graduate of Muncy High School and in 1956 received a degree in psychology from Lycoming College. She was part owner of radio station W.M.P.T. in South Williamsport and the daughter-in-law of Dr. Galen Castlebury.
Joanne was a 73 year member of the Muncy First United Methodist Church where she was active in United Methodist Women having served as president and a member and former vice president of the Williamsport District United Methodist Council where she served as Social Concerns Coordinator. She had also been a Mission chairperson lay delegate to the Central Pennsylvania Conference, was on the Pastor-Staff Committee, had served as trustee for three years and was on the Administration Council.
She was a member of the West Branch Chorale for over 25 years traveling with the chorale on several singing tours to Europe and England. Joanne was a Past Noble Grand at Hughesville Rebecca Lodge #215 and was a District Deputy on three occasions. Until recently, she served on the election board, since 1960, and was judge of elections for Muncy's 1st Ward. She enjoyed reading and playing weekly in multiple bridge groups. In her earlier years she was an avid bowler and received over a dozen individual or team trophies.
She is survived by two children, Galen Castlebury of Bel Air, MD and Galene (Ron) Smith of Mill Hall; three grandsons, David (Stephanie) Schoch of Beech Creek; Stephen (Jakki) Schoch of Elmira, NY and Timothy (Ashley) Schoch of Lycoming Creek and three great-grandchildren, Jaden, Kairi and Noah.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at 1:30 P.M. from the Muncy First United Methodist Church, 602 S. Market Street, Muncy, PA 17756. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 12:30 - 1:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in her memory be made to the Muncy First United Methodist Church. Those attending should follow CDC guidelines, practice social distancing and wear a mask.
Melvin R. “Dick” Snyder
Melvin R. “Dick” Snyder, 83, of Muncy, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, at home.
Born Oct. 4, 1925, in Orangeville, he was a son of the late Syrles and Blanche (Witmer) Snyder.
On Oct. 15, 1964, he married his wife of 44 years, the former Nettie Novone.
At age 18, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 257th Combat Engineers 7th Army, stationed in the European Theater during World War II. A combat engineer demolition specialist, he was in Dachau when the concentration camp was liberated.
For 45 years, he worked for the former Walds in Montgomery, which later became Prismo Company and is now Linear Dynamics.
Mr. Snyder was very active in the Edward Smith Post 3428 V.F.W., Muncy, serving three terms as commander and was also a past president. He faithfully represented the post by marching in almost every parade with the V.F.W.
He and his wife hosted many pig roasts for their family and friends, starting in the morning and lasting into the late evening. They also loved to go square dancing together. He possessed a talent for wood making and crafted several items for his wife and family. Before becoming sick, he was an avid hunter, making several trips to Colorado, and in addition, he enjoyed fishing. He raised deer and at one time counted 45 deer in his possession. An outdoorsman, he could often be found tending to his garden. Mr. Snyder was also known for his good winemaking abilities. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, and especially on Christmas Eve.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children, Mel (Wendy) Snyder, Jr., Donna (Gary) Hoy and Judy (Jim) Whitmoyer, all of Muncy, Charles “Jay” (Sharon) Swisher of Unityville, Donna Lee Keiser (Jim Benett) of Milton and Sandy (Frank) Tranor of Benton; two brothers, Ken Snyder of Exchange and Harold “Bud” Snyder of Florida; one sister, Norma Snyder of Hughesville; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons.
He was predeceased by seven brothers, Walter, Don, Lee, Jack, Bill, Lawrence and Herb Snyder, and three sisters, Josephine VanKirk, Mildred Hess and Beatrice Holmes.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Nov. 20, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where the funeral will be held at noon, officiated by Pastor Paul Dauenbaugh of Jerseytown United Methodist Church. Burial with full military honors will follow in Muncy Cemetery.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 1704 Warren Ave., Williamsport, PA 17701.
Lynwood H. Morehart
(May 29, 1924 - September 19, 2015)

Lynwood H. Morehart, 91, formerly of Elimsport, PA, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2015 in The Hillside Assisted Living Community at Montoursville, PA. Born in Montgomery, Lycoming County, PA, on Thursday, May 29, 1924, he was the son of the late William L. and Alice C. (Pentz) Morehart.
He was the widower of Matilda Tillie (Lynch) Morehart who preceded him in death on April 1, 2012.
Lynwood was a 1942 graduate of Montgomery-Clinton High School.
He honorably served during the Second World War with the U.S. Army Air Corp's Ninth Air Force as an engineer gunner in the European Theatre. All members of his original crew escaped injury in their travels together over their targets, completing fifty-three missions and participating in the Battle of Northern France and the Battle of the Rhineland. Having served twenty-seven months, twelve of which were spent overseas, Lynwood was the recipient of the Service Medal with two bronze stars and the Air Medal with nine oak leaf clusters.
He retired as a relief driver for Schneider-Valley Farms Dairy at Williamsport and was previously employed by Chamberlains Dairy at Montgomery.
Lynwood was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elimsport for over 70 years and was a former Sunday School teacher and member of the church board. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading, and puzzles, especially crossword puzzles.
He is survived by three children, Linda J. Morehart, Montgomery, PA; Robert W. and wife Janice Morehart, S. Williamsport, PA; Sally M. Pauling, Montgomery, PA; one sister, Ruth and husband Paul Engle, Montgomery, PA; seven grandchildren, Jodie and husband Rich Willits, Georgia; Robert Morehart, Jr., Georgia; Jesse and wife Brandi Smith, Duboistown, PA; Kristin and husband Yamel Moise, Steelton, PA; Erica and husband David Robinson, Ohio; Ashley and husband Steven Martinez, New Jersey; Lynette Pauling, Montgomery, PA. Lynwood is also survived by eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Lynwood was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Williams; his son-in-law, Jerry P. Pauling; his brothers, Albert L. (Abe) Morehart and James W. Morehart and two sisters, Pearl Rodabaugh and Hilda Hutchinson.
Funeral services will be conducted from the First Baptist Church of Elimsport, 16838 State Route 44, Allenwood, PA at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, September 25, 2015 with D. Todd Baker, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Elimsport Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. or on Friday from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the church. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the joint veterans organizations. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Elimsport, 16838 State Route 44, Allenwood, PA 17810.
