Stanley E. Reitmeyer, 65, of Chippewa Lane, Muncy, died Monday, Jan. 26, 2009 at Muncy Valley Hospital.
Born in Williamsport on August 1, 1943, he was a son of the late Joseph and Meda (Williams) Reitmeyer.
He and his wife of 37 years, the former Marjorie A. Clark, were married Nov. 5, 1971.
Following graduation from Watsontown High School in 1961, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served during the Vietnam era.
Stan worked as a foreman for Joyce Western Corp., a pipeline construction firm in Andover, N.Y. In 1983 he accepted a position as supervisor with P.G. Energy. When he retired, he held a position as Manager of the Southern Division. More recently he was employed by Franchelli Pipeline as a supervisor.
A gun enthusiast, he was a member of the N.R.A., the Sulphyr Springs Rifle & Revolver Club, Muncy, and the International Benchrest Shooters. In addition, he was a member of the Glenn Sharrow Post #35 American Legion, Hughesville, the Highland Lake 40/8 Club and the Muncy Valley Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #866.
Stan was a member of the United Methodist faith and was currently attending Pennsdale Trinity United Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one son and daughter-in-law, Andrew M. and Stephanie Reitmeyer of Muncy; three daughters; one brother, Joseph Reitmeyer; and two grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, at Pennsdale Trinity United Methodist Church, 658 Village Road, Pennsdale, where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Pastor Rob Ransom.
Burial will be held privately in Allenwood.
The family will provide the flowers and prefers memorial contributions be made to either Pennsdale Trinity United Methodist Church, 658 Village Road, Pennsdale, PA 17756, or to Muncy Valley Hospital, 215 E. Water St., Muncy, PA 17756.
Arrangements are under the direction of Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
Gary Lynn Adams
Gary Lynn Adams, 66, formerly of Muncy, passed away in his Williamsport home, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008.
Born July 6, 1942, in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Guy Grove and Emma (Kaiser) Adams. A member of the 1961 graduating class of Montoursville High School. In 1960, Mr. Adams enlisted in the US Army and served until 1963. During his service, he was a sergeant in the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, KY.
In 1964, he started working at Avco, now Textron, and retired after 42 years of employment. Mr. Adams was a member of the American Legion in Muncy, the Muncy VFW, the 40 et 8 in Williamsport, Highland Lake, and the Muncy Valley Moose Lodge No. 866.
He loved playing music and was most well known for his accomplished self taught guitar skills. He had been in bands since 1969 and enjoyed playing for crowds throughout his life. He also loved spending time with his family, attending different sporting events in the community, and playing with his two dogs, Heidi and Pepper.
Surviving is his wife of 48 years, Linda (Heffner) Adams, his daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Larry Funk of Hughesville, his son, Gary Alan Adams of Elgin, TX, his five grandchildren, Tessa Adams and Melinda Funk of Hughesville, Sean, Sage, and Ian Adams of Elgin, TX, and his brother John Adams, of Woodstock, GA.
Respecting his wishes to not have a funeral or viewing service, the family would appreciate very much if friends and family would send their most fond memories with Gary to Linda Adams, 120 Upper Manor Road, Williamsport, PA 17701. Arrangements are by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.
Faye A. James
December 21, 1931 - February 28, 2021
Faye A. James, 89, a former resident of Williamsport and Altoona, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2021 in the Valley View Nursing Center at Montoursville. Born Monday, December 21, 1931 at Montgomery, Lycoming Co., PA, she was a daughter of the late Lester P. and Pearl (Wertman) Page. She was the widow of J. Richard James who preceded her in death on April 7, 2018. They were married on September 2, 1950. His death broke a blissful marriage of over 67 years.
She was a 1950 graduate of Montgomery/Clinton High School. In 1972 her family moved to Altoona and lived there until moving back to Williamsport in 2015. While living in Altoona Faye worked in various security positions.
Faye was a member of Clinton Baptist Church at Montgomery and a former member of Logan Valley Baptist Church at Bellwood. She volunteered at the Bellwood Senior Center, was very active in the Ladies of the Shrine and served as Past High Priestess of the Jobel Court in 1996-97. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting.
She is survived by two children, Carol (Fredrick) Grasty of Montgomery and David James of Altoona and her daughter-in-law, Karen James of Duncanville, TX. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; Marsha Dieffenderfer, Melinda (Robert) Irwin, Joshua (Jessica) Childs all of Montgomery; Brandon Grasty of Orlando, FL; Laurie Grasty of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Stephania (Jed) Rigby, Michael (Sasha) James, Stephen James, Jenni (Dustin) Perkins, Jacob (Nikki) Blair all from the Dallas TX area; Diane Turquette of Los Angeles, CA and Mario DiPippo, Nichole (Tyler) Glunt and Danielle DiPippo all of the Altoona area. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, Lester P. (Donna) Page of Prattville, AL. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jim (JR, Jr.) James on March 11, 2019; her daughter-in-law Antoinetta James on May 12, 2020 and her sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Charles Duchman, both in 2012.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 5, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. from the Clinton Baptist Church, 60 Warren Street, Montgomery, PA 17752 with David Jacobs, her pastor, officiating. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:30 - 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to either Clinton Baptist Church or Valley View Nursing Center, 2140 Warrensville Road, Montoursville, PA 17754. Those attending should follow CDC guidelines, wear a mask and practice social distancing.
Betty J. Grimm
(February 22, 1929 - August 3, 2015)
Betty J. Grimm, 86, formerly of Montgomery, PA, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015 in the Watsontown Health Care and Rehab Center. Born in Muncy Creek Twp., Lycoming County, PA, on Friday, February 22, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Erman and Clara (Hill) Bennett.
She was the widow of Thomas A. Grimm who preceded her in death on September 26, 1998.
Betty was last employed as a hand sander by the Rochelle Furniture Co. at Montgomery, PA. She had previously been employed by the former Montgomery Mills and the former Milton Shoe Factory.
Betty enjoyed playing bingo and cross word puzzles.
She is survived by four children, Thomas R. Grimm, Montgomery, PA; Dale R. and wife Linda Grimm, Montgomery, PA; Larry E. and wife Vicki Grimm, Hughesville, PA; Kathy J. and husband Earl Carson, Allenwood, PA; two sisters, Shirley Aunkst, Montgomery, PA; Darlene Sharr, Montgomery, PA. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by one daughter, Diane M. (Bryon) Persing, her brother, James R. Bennett and one granddaughter, Lisa M. Lund.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted in the St. John Lutheran "Brick" Church Cemetery, Route 405 Highway, Montgomery, PA at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, August 7, 2015 with Mr. Joseph S. Miller, lay pastor of the GAP Fellowship at Williamsport, officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 40 E. Houston Avenue, Montgomery, PA.
Ellen M. Tinsman
Ellen M. Tinsman, 61, of 1616 Trimble Road, Trout Run, died Monday, Jan 19, 2009 at the Gatehouse Hospice, Williamsport.
She was born February 14, 1947 in Rose Valley, the daughter of the late William H. and Mary (O’Connor) Tinsman. Surviving her are her aunt Bernice O’Connor, and cousins Maggie Quinn Ramsey and Mary Quinn, Kate Ramsey Sivers and Sarah Ramsey, and Marcie McCormick Porter and Andrew McCormick.
She attended the Grier School for Girls in Tyrone, PA, and Barnard College in New York City.
She led an adventurous and varied life in New York and on her travels throughout the U.S. and Europe, but always returned to Williamsport and her beloved family home in Rose Valley where she lived with her dogs, cats and chickens.
She was talented at many things and her work life reflected her eclectic interests. In the early 70s she co-edited the Williamsport Mountain Journal, a bi-weekly alternative newspaper. She traveled with the Clyde Beatty Circus, and helped establish the Big Apple Circus and Xenon Disco in New York City. Later, in Williamsport she worked at the Rieders Travis law firm, and was a freelance editor for a number of writers, both local and long distance. For the last several years she was a Democratic Committee-person in Lycoming County and sat on the Gamble Township Planning Committee. Under the name of Joan Beach, she regularly contributed to the internet-based community discussion group Billtown Boards, and maintained a blog on national political issues. She was very involved in the campaigns to elect Congressman Chris Carney and President Barack Obama.
She will be dearly missed by all her friends and family.
Cremation arrangements will be handled privately by Grenoble Funeral Home, Muncy. Friends and acquaintances are invited to a gathering to celebrate Ellen’s life on Thursday, January 22, 2009 from 6 to 9 pm at Di Salvo’s Restaurant, 341 East Fourth Street, Williamsport.
