Our beloved Father, Son, and Brother, Richard Thomas Bower, 33, of 390 Peter Grey Lane, Muncy, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2009 in Muncy.
Born in Williamsport on January 26, 1976, he was the son of Kellie Bower-Vogt and the late Thomas Richard Bower.
Following his education at Muncy High School he received an Associate Degree in Computer Science from the McCann School of Business in Sunbury. He later attended Bloomsburg University and completed one year at Penn College in the Plastics and Polymer curriculum.
Richard worked as an Aide at the Selinsgrove Center for eight years and later worked at the Danville State Hospital before accepting a position with MI Trucking. He currently was employed at Economy Locker in Pennsdale, in addition to helping remodel his family’s home on Peter Grey Lane in Muncy.
A loving father and gentle man, Richard was known for his smile and wonderful friendly nature. He was dedicated to his family and friends and made a lasting impression with every person he met. He was an easy-going spirit, always ready for an adventure. Above all, Richard’s true love and devotion went to his daughter, Zoey. He loved his daughter more than life itself.
Many of his favorite pastimes occurred in the outdoors, including hunting, fishing and camping with his family and friends. Richard’s other hobbies included competitive shooting, remote control planes and cars, and racing his Mazda in time trials through the Sports Car Club of America. When not spending time outdoors, he could be found at his computer or in the kitchen where he experimented with a wide variety of cooking styles. Richard was a self-taught brew master and often provided his friends with the delectable taste of a home-brewed beer and home-smoked game.
In addition to his mother and stepfather, Robert Vogt of Pennsdale, he is survived by his 8-year old daughter, Zoey Theresa Pearle Bower of Treverton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ryan Thomas and Kerry Bower of Wellsboro and Kevin Thomas and Ann Marie Bower of Elizabethtown; four nephews and nieces, Thomas, Emmy, Nicholas and Ava Bower; and his former wife, Victoria Shaffer-Bower of Treverton. Richard was also expecting a child in May and is survived by the baby’s mother, Cathleen Mottern of Muncy.
He was predeceased by his father, Thomas Richard Bower, who died January 12, 1988.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, at New Life Church, 1006 Village Road, Pennsdale, followed by a time of fellowship, sharing and refreshments. Officiating will be Pastor Rob McKenzie of Bible Baptist Church of Huntersville.
The family also invites you to join them at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy, where they will form a procession to the Cemetery. Burial will be held in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery at 11 a.m. on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions in Richard’s name be directed to a fund to benefit his daughter and expected child established at Muncy Bank & Trust Co., 2 North Main St., Muncy, PA 17756.
Francis S. Getgen, Sr.
(August 16, 1932 - September 3, 2015)
Francis Sherwood Getgen, Sr., 83, a resident of Milton, PA, formerly of Montgomery, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 3, 2015 in the Williamsport Regional Medical Center. Born in Albany, Albany County, NY, on Tuesday, August 16, 1932, he was the son of the late Clifford Getgen and Mary (Kohler) Getgen Chase.
He was the husband of Elizabeth (Huckstep) Getgen with whom he celebrated a 37th wedding anniversary on December 2, 2014. Francis was a 1950 graduate of Muncy High School. He was a retired self employed contractor.
Francis was of the Catholic faith. He was a 40 year member of the Montgomery Area Emergency Management Agency, past member and vice president of Montgomery Borough council, past member of the Montgomery Developement Corporation, a former scout master of troup 24 at Montgomery, post advisor of Montgomery Explorer Post and was active for years in scouting.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by ten children, Clifford S. and wife Connie Getgen, Sr., Muncy, PA; Francis S. and wife Heather Getgen, Jr., Hughesville, PA; Lola Jane and husband Lee Waltman, Muncy, PA; Rebecca Jean Getgen and partner Robert Werner, McEwensville, PA; Garth L. and wife Celeste Getgen, Nebraska; Michael E. Getgen and partner Aggie, Williamsport, PA; Mary Catherine and husband John Landschoot, Waylen, NY; Sarah Elizabeth and husband Timothy Hoover, Milton, PA; Gordon William and wife Fawn Getgen, Bensalem, PA; Cecelia Getgen, Milton, PA; one brother, Gordon W. Chase, Redondo Beach, CA. Francis was also blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Francis was preceded in death by his brother, James Lewis Chase.
A memorial service will be conducted in the Chapel of Jersey Shore Cemetery, 1103 Locust Street, Jersey Shore, PA at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 with Reverend Bert Kozen, pastor of St. Luke's Catholic Church at Jersey Shore, officiating. Arrangements are being handled by the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 40 E. Houston Avenue, Montgomery, PA.
Robert L. Cawley
(January 12, 1938 - September 27, 2015)
Robert L. Cawley, 77, a resident of Montgomery, PA, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at his residence. Born in New Columbia, Union County, PA, on Wednesday, January 12, 1938, he was the son of the late George and Mildred (Ranck) Cawley.
Bob was the husband of Betty Jane Cawley with whom he celebrated a 55th wedding anniversary.
He was 1955 graduate of Milton High School and attended the former Williamsport Area Community College.
He was employed as a process engineer by the former West Co. at Montgomery, PA retiring in 1996.
Bob was a former member of the White Deer Volunteer Fire Co. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Judy and husband David Bennage, Watsontown, PA; Alan and wife Susan Cawley, Millville, PA; Dennis and wife Bonnie Rupert, Milton, PA; Larry and wife Jane Rupert, Sr., Watsontown, PA; seven grandchildren, Brandon Bennage; Larry Rupert, Jr.; Shawn Rupert;
Kelly Zink; Chad Rupert; April Hess; Tina Stahl; five siblings, Phil Cawley; Andy Cawley; Donald Cawley;
Bill Cawley; Cheryl Rheppard.
Bob is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Donna Cawley and Jeannie George and by two brothersTerry Cawley and Joe Cawley.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 North Main Street, Muncy, PA at 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 with Rev. James R. Pentz, pastor of the New Covenant Assembly at Montgomery, officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday from 6:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. The family will provide the flowers. A graveside committal service will be conducted on Friday, October 2, 2015 in the Highland Cemetery at New Comunbia at 3:00 P.M.
Margaret G. Miller
Margaret G. “Peg” Miller, 79, of 6397 Armstrong Road, Muncy, passed into Eternal rest Sunday morning, February 8, 2009, at the Williamsport Hospital.
Born Jan. 22, 1930 in Williamsport, Peg was the daughter of Melvin Leroy and Hazel E. (Newcomer) Young.
Peg and her loving husband, Clyde J. Miller, Jr., celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on November 9, 2008.
A member of St. John Lutheran (Brick) Church in Montgomery, Peg was employed in the weaving department at the former Montgomery Mills until its closing.
Surviving in addition to her husband are children, William N. and Ursula Miller, Las Vegas, NV, Brett M. Miller, Williamsport and Eric L. and Tara Miller, Muncy. She was the loving grandmother of nine grandchildren, Pam Dunmeyer and Brad Miller, Shane, Jamie, Jessica, and Gabe Miller, and Nikole, Eric and Matthew Miller; nine great-grandchildren; four brothers, Albert, Robert, Roland and Larry Young; and four sisters, Genevieve Leech, Sharon Bennett, Sandra Mitstifer and Connie Meyers.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by two brothers, Charles Young and Earl Young.
Friends will be received from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, February 12, at St. John Lutheran (Brick) Church, 196 Brick Church Road, Montgomery, where the funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Officiating will be her minister, Pastor Zachary Labagh. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery, Montgomery, followed by a luncheon at the church.

Erma V. Eveland
(July 26, 1922 - January 30, 2015)
Erma V. Eveland, 92, formerly of Montgomery, PA, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2015 in the Susquehanna Health Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Unit. Born in Bloomsburg, Columbia County, PA on Wednesday, July 26, 1922, she was the daughter of the late William and Bertelle (Hayman) Yaple.
She was the widow of Robert V. Eveland who preceded her in death on July 29, 1997.
Erma was a 1940 graduate of Benton Vocational High School and the Bloomsburg Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed as a registered nurse at the Bloomsburg Hospital and the Muncy Valley Hospital and had also been employed by the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village at Lewisburg.
Erma was a member of the Monsey Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed knitting, macrame, plastic canvas, word search puzzles, camping and gardening. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dale A. and Connie Eveland, Montgomery, PA; one daughter and son-in-law, Diane K. and Jay Emery, Montgomery, PA; four grandchildren, Jessica and husband, Hassan El-Hage, Dale City, VA; Jay R. and wife Megan Emery, Jr., Montgomery, PA; Eric and wife Nikki Eveland, Montgomery, PA; Bryan and wife Fancy Eveland, Jersey Shore, PA; six great-grandchildren, Brennan Emery, Mackenzie Eveland, Mikayla Eveland; Willow Eveland; Ridge Eveland; Breeze Eveland; one sister, Lois Allegar; two brothers, Harold Yaple and William Yaple, Jr. In addition to her husband, Erma was preceded in death by her twin sister, Eva Clinebell and one brother, F. Wayne Yaple.

Main Street, Muncy at 12:00 Noon on Friday, February 6, 2015 with Michael Hill, pastor of the Elimsport United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the St. James Cemetery, East Fishing Creek Twp., Columbia Co., PA. Friends may call on Friday from 11:00 - 12:00 at the funeral home. The family will provide the flowers.
