Donald H. Dimm

Donald H. Dimm, 94, formerly of rural Muncy, died Thursday, January 21, 2010, at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit.

Born May 23, 1915 in Lewis Twp., Northumberland County, he was a son of the late Clark L. and Anna Marguerite (Turner) Dimm.

He and his wife, the former Frances E. Wertman, were married April 25, 1937. They observed 62 years together until her death on Nov. 18, 1999.

A 1932 graduate of Muncy High School, he was a U.S. Marine veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theatre. Don worked as an insurance agent with West Branch Mutual Insurance Co., and previously had worked in retail sales in Connecticut and at the former Carroll House department store in Muncy.

He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and faithfully attended services as well as many other church functions.

Surviving are three sisters, Rebecca Musser of Montoursville, Lucille Lockard of Muncy, and M. Marie (Fred) Lewis of Muncy; one brother-in-law, C. Gordon (Louise) Wertman of Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a niece and nephew he spent time with in Florida.

In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by a brother, John Dimm, and a sister, Martha Spring.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26, at the First United Methodist Church, 602 S. Market St., Muncy. Officiating will be his pastor, Rev. Michael R. Gardy. Burial with full military honors will follow in Muncy Cemetery.

Friends will be received on Tuesday at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church, 602 S. Market St., Muncy, PA 17756.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.

Mary Anne Heydenreich

Mary Anne Heydenreich, 77, of Bloomsburg, passed away Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Born Oct. 31, 1931 in Hughesville, she was a daughter of the late Clarence F. and Grace McCarty Stolz.

She was married to Robert H. Heydenreich on March 1, 1950, observing 58 years of marriage.

A 1949 Hughesville High School graduate, she worked in the Lycoming County Fair Office from 1949-2008 and was elected as Secretary of the Lycoming County Fair. She assisted her husband Robert at the Bloomsburg Fair Ticket Office from 1984-2005. Mrs. Heydenreich received numerous awards of recognition of fair services, including P.S.A.C.F. Zone II Person Award 2001, and 2008 Fair Person of the Year Award from P.S.A.C.F. at the state convention held in Hershey.

She is a member of PA State Showmen’s Association and PA State Association of County Fairs; belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star, Bloomsburg Chapter No. 279; F.H.A. Alumni; and the Bloomsburg Professional Women’s Association.

She enjoyed attending and watching her family compete in open wheel racing.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Richard, and his wife Sharon; two grandchildren, Eric and Whitney; several nieces and nephews; caregivers Karen and Angela Yaw; and beloved pet McKenzie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Robert Stolz.

Services will be Thursday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. at Bunnell Funeral Home, Inc., 179 E. Main St., Millville, with Rev. Allen F. Acor officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday from 12 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Lycoming County Fair, P.O. Box 116, Hughesville, PA 17737.

Robert G. Betzer
(April 5, 1925 - November 13, 2011)
U.S. Veteran

Robert G. Betzer, 86, a resident of Milton, PA, formerly of Lewisburg for 63 years, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011 in the RiverWoods at Lewisburg where he had been a guest for the past week. Born in Mahoning Twp., Montour County, PA, on Sunday, April 5, 1925, he was the son of the late Merrill H. and Nancy (Ranck) Betzer. Bob was raised in the Odd Fellows Orphanage at Sunbury.

He was the husband of Janet M. (Hettinger) Betzer with whom he celebrated a 63rd wedding anniversary on July 5, 2011.

He attended Sunbury High School. Bob honorably served his country during the Second World War with the U.S. Army in the European Theatre. He was employed as a supervisor by the former Lewisburg Chair and Furniture Co. from 1943 to 1965 and retired from the Young Door Co. at Sunbury in 1986 where he had been employed as a night supervisor since 1965.

Bob was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church at Lewisburg where he was a former Sunday School superintendent, president of St. Paul's Men, Sunday School teacher and trustee. Bob was a Sunday speaker for the Pennsylvania Council on Alcohol Problems. He was a member and past vice-president of the Union County Sunday School Association where he received the 50 Year Service Sunday School Award. Bob was a charter member of V.F.W. Post 7715 at Lewisburg, In 1943 he became a member of Lewisburg Lodge #96, Independent Order of Odd Fellows and became very active in various groups associated with the lodge. He was past State Grand Chaplain, past president and treasurer of the Central PA Odd Fellows and Rebekah's Anniversary Association, past president and member of the board of the former Odd Fellows Orphanage at Sunbury where he was involved in the Alumni Association, a former board member of the I.O.O.F. Home at Middletown and was also a member of Faith, Hope & Charity Rebekah Lodge. Bob enjoyed hunting and woodworking.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Nancy E. Kessler, Saratoga, CA; Galen R. and Josette Betzer, Muncy, PA; Ginny L. and Lee Shreck, Milton, PA; nine grandchildren, Dione Wright; Christian Kessler; Adrienne Phillips; Danielle Mina; Andreasha Gardner; Andrea Poehler; Alissa Detman; Justin Betzer; Andrew Shreck. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Betzer and Margaret Kooney and by two brothers, Merrill H. (Hebe) Betzer, Jr. and William H. Betzer, Sr.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 42 S. Fourth Street, Lewisburg, PA at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 with Rev. Judi A. Dunkelberger, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Lewisburg Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. at the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 North Main Street, Muncy, PA or on Tuesday from 12:00 - 1:30 P.M. at the church. Lewisburg IOOF Lodge #96 will conduct a memorial service on Tuesday at 11:45 A.M. at the church. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the Lewisburg area veterans organizations. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 42 S. Fourth Street, Lewisburg, PA 17837.

Mark James Murosky, Jr.

Mark James “Jakie” Murosky, Jr., 20, of 61 Ross Road, Montgomery, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at home.

Born Oct. 12, 1990, in Danville, Jakie enjoyed attending Loyalsock High School, as well as the bus rides to and from school. He also liked going for walks, spending time outdoors and listening to music.

Surviving are his father, Mark J. Murosky, Sr.; his mother and her companion, Kelly Lee Warner and Mike Roupp; four sisters, Elizabeth, Melony, Lisa and Megan; five brothers, Mark, Matthew, Christopher, Austin and Charlie; a maternal grandmother, Charlotte Warner; a paternal grandmother, Mary Jo Brunner; aunts; uncles and cousins. Special thanks and appreciation are extended to his caregivers, Abby Kithcart and Shelly Nubb.

He was predeceased by a maternal grandfather, Larry Sauers, Sr., and a paternal grandfather, James Murosky.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, at Maple Hill United Methodist Church, 12 Ridge Road, Montgomery. Officiating will be Rebecca Cuddeback, CLM.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions be made to Grenoble Funeral Home, Inc., 121 S. Main St., Muncy, PA 17756 to help defray funeral costs.

Diane M. Persing
(January 30, 1948 - December 3, 2011)

Diane M. Persing

Diane M. Persing, 63, a resident of Montgomery, PA, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2011 in the Geisinger Medical Center. Born in Clinton Twp., Lycoming County, PA, on Friday, January 30, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Grimm and Betty (Bennett) Grimm who survives her of Watsontown, PA.

Diane was the widow of Byron H. Persing who preceded her in death on January 9, 2010.

Diane was a 1966 graduate of Montgomery High School

She was a CNA and worked at Rose View Manor in Williamsport, Pa. until she moved to Florida in 1994. Diane continued CNA work in Florida and then moved back to Pennsylvania in 2010. The joy of her life were her grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim S. and Heather Persing, Montgomery, PA; Tom C. and Dawn Persing, Montgomery, PA; three brothers, Dale (Linda) Grimm, Montgomery, PA; Thomas (Ruth) Grimm, Montgomery, PA; Larry (Vickie) Grimm, Hughesville, PA; one sister, Kathy (Earl) Carson, Elimsport, PA. Diane is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Taylor, Kylie, Parker, Kaitlin, Faith and Briar Persing and 13 nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 41 West Houston Avenue, Montgomery, PA at 6:00 P.M. on Friday, December 9, 2011 with Rebecca Cuddeback, CLM officiating. Friends may call on Friday from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. at the church. Fellowship will follow at Clinton Township Volunteer Fire Hall, 2311 State Route 54, Montgomery, PA.

Arrangements are being handled by the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 40 E. Houston Avenue, Montgomery, PA.
