John L. “Jack” Felix, 69, of 469 Maple Hill Road, Montgomery, died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at his residence.
Born December 13, 1940 in Milton, he was a son of Francis and Genevieve Patt Felix. On October 30, 1959 he married his wife of fifty years the former Dianne K. Pick whom he met while working at his father’s restaurant, the former Dutch Inn, Muncy.
Jack retired from the West Company after 29 years of service, working as a plant superintendent and production manager. After retiring from the West Co. he worked as a security guard for Susquehanna Health System, Muncy Valley Campus, and also as a PA State Constable for the past 11 years.
He was a member of the Pleasant View Wesleyan Church, Muncy. Other memberships included the N.R.A, Keystone Sportsman Club, PA State Constable’s Assoc. and the Flying Eagles Color Guard.
Jack enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also spent time watching the History Channel and was active on a PA forest fire crew.
Surviving in addition to his wife Dianne, are one son and daugther-in-law, Mike and Tammy Felix, Montgomery; two daughters and one son-in-law, Kimberly and James Sauers, Williamsport and Colleen Felix, Montgomery; a sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Wilson Faus, CA; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Francis, Jr. and Maurice Felix, and two sisters, JoAnn Balliet and Mary Crawford.
A Celebration of Jack’s life will be held on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 1:30 P.M. at the Pleasant View Wesleyan Church, 994 E. Penn St., Muncy, officiated by his pastor, Rev. Stephen R. Smith.

W. Wendle Taggart
W. Wendle Taggart, who observed his 100th birthday this past May, died Friday, July 23, 2010, at the Muncy Valley Hospital. He was formerly of Hughesville and currently resided at The Meadows in Montoursville.
Born in Muncy on May 23, 1910, he was a son of the late Daniel Blue and Harriet V. (Miller) Taggart. On Sept. 26, 1931 he married the former F. Ruth Keyser. They shared 69 years together until her death on May 24, 2001.
A 1928 graduate of Muncy High School, he found work during the Depression at PPL, where he enjoyed a 40-year career, retiring in 1973 as a Residential Sales Supervisor.
Wendle had a motto, “Do good where you are today.” He lived that motto through several community organizations, including 18 years as a volunteer at the Muncy Valley Hospital. Wendle was a past chairman of the Lycoming United Way and a past president of the East Lycoming School Board. For a number of years he served on the advisory board of the American Rescue Workers and for two years chaired the Shepherd of the Streets Thanksgiving Basket program. In his spare time he enjoyed biking, raising flowers and classical music.
A member of Hughesville Baptist Church for 65 years, he served in numerous elected offices and on three occasions he chaired three major construction projects. He was a former member of Moreland Baptist Church and, as a child, was a member of Muncy Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Daniel B. and Judy Taggart of Concord, NC, and David W. and Kathryn Taggart of Muncy; two daughters and one son-in-law, J. Lynette Harris of Picture Rocks and Nancy G. and Thomas Price of Hughesville; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Corina Krysik, and a sister, Ethel Hitesman.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 26, at Hughesville Baptist Church, Water & Third Streets, Hughesville. Officiating will be his pastor, Rev. Thomas Brokaw. Burial will follow in Muncy Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

Thelma L. Burkhart
Thelma L. Burkhart, 88, of Montoursville, concluded her journey in life Sunday, September 19, 2010. She had been ill for two months.
Born in Sullivan County on May 15, 1922, she was a daughter of the late George and Stella (Snyder) Kepner.
Thelma and her husband, Elwood, maintained a farm near Huntersville for over 50 years. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2005. A graduate of Hughesville High School, Thelma was employed at the Sylvania photo flash plant in Montoursville for 25+ years until retiring in the fall of 1982. She held a leadership role in 4-H for many years, teaching baking and cake decorating to many youth. Thelma enjoyed making crafts, cake decorating, bus trips and playing cards with her friends.
She was a member of the Heilman United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and held various positions within the church.
Thelma will be lovingly remembered by her family consisting of three sons, Rodger Burkhart and wife Sharon of Rochester, NY, Wayne Burkhart and wife Connie of Catawissa, and Les Burkhart of Montoursville; six grandchildren, Maricel Haguisan, Jodi Houser, Anne LeGore, Doug Burkhart, Alecia Bower and Ashley Burkhart; three brothers, Clyde Kepner of Muncy, and Oscar Kepner and Marlyn Kepner, both of Hughesville; two sisters, Esther Houseknecht of Muncy Valley and Glenna Gardner of Muncy; 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Kepner and Claire Penta and four brothers, Ralph, Lewis, Melvin and Gerald Kepner.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 24, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. Officiating will be her minister, Pastor Connie Waugh. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Webster Cemetery, Huntersville following the services.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Sandra E. Noyes
Sandra E. Noyes, 75, formerly of Williamsport until relocating in 1987 to Venice, Florida, died peacefully at her home in Venice on Friday, November 12, 2010.
Born in Muncy on April 2, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Taylor and Ruth Person (Vandersloot) Eaker. On December 11, 1952 in Montgomery she married Edward W. Noyes, Jr., who preceded her in death on September 4, 1997.
Although she attended Muncy schools for most of her education, she graduated from Montgomery High School in 1953. In 1975 she earned her L.P.N. degree from W.A.C.C., now Penn College, in Williamsport. She was employed as a nurse at Divine Providence Hospital for seven years until leaving to care for her mother.
Sandra was a member and former usher at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Venice and was a former member of Muncy Presbyterian Church and Evangelical Friends Church in Loyalsock. She belonged to the Xi Beta Rho of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and was a past member of the D.A.R. She volunteered her time to the American Red Cross, the Girl Scouts, Child Protective Services, and to “Troop Tees,” which provided thank-you notes on tee shirts to military servicemen. By far her favorite spare-time hobby was playing bingo, and she also enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, antiques and ceramics.
Surviving are her family, whom she deeply loved, including four children, Kim (Jeff) Payne of Venice, FL, Karen (Jeff) Hamilton of Manassas, VA, Edward W. (Linda) Noyes III of Lexington, SC, and Kathryn (Thomas) Pedit of Bonita Springs, FL; two sisters, Diane Akers of Muncy and June Pewterbaugh of Pennsdale; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, Jackie, Jeffrey, Ed IV, Katarina, Aja, and Lexi; and twelve great-grandchildren, Lenee, Damien, DeAndre, Pablo, Jonathan, Peyton, Whitney, Stephen, Julissa, Victoria, Leila, and Gavin.
In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by a sister, Patricia Eddinger.
The funeral will be at noon on Thursday, Nov. 18 at Muncy Presbyterian Church, S. Washington and Penn Streets, Muncy. Officiating will be Rev. Ivar C. Johnson, retired Evangelical Friends pastor. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Montgomery.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday at the church.

Bernice G. Pardoe
Bernice G. Pardoe, 88, formerly of Hughesville, died Nov. 24, 2008, at the Hillside Assisted Living.
Born Sept. 26, 1920, in Madisonburg, Centre County, she was a daughter of the late Charles A. and Mary Susan Vonada Duck. Her husband of 58 years, Hollis L. Pardoe, preceded her in death on Nov. 9, 1995. She attended the Milton High School. She was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church and enjoyed reading, sewing, baking, cooking, dining out and spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving are three sons, Lawrence (Judy) Pardoe of Milton, Ronald (Bonnie) Pardoe of Allenwood and Gary (Sharon) Pardoe of Milton; two daughters, Debbie Kuzio of Williamsport and Patty (Shane) McCoy of Hughesville; a sister, Pauline Wilson of Milton; 13 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; six step-great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Lynn Pardoe; a great granddaughter, Fallon Pardoe; and two sisters, Violet Bastian and Moral Duck.
A visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 28, from 7-9 p.m. at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville. A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Bethany United Methodist Church, 113 S. Second St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Bethany P. Wood officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Muncy Cemetery.
