Donald K. Kahler, Sr., 86, of 36 N. Fourth St., Hughesville, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011 atDonald Kahler the Gatehouse in Williamsport.
Born January 28, 1925 in Muncy, he was a son of the late Daniel D. and Pauline (Confer) Kahler. On October 31, 1948, he married the former Martha J. Hoffman, with whom he shared 49 years until her death on March 4, 1997. In 2000 he married the former Carlene Hess, who survives.
Don attended Muncy High School until January 1943 when he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, where he served aboard the USS Pettit, a destroyer escort that protected convoys through the north Atlantic Ocean during World War II. He was eventually made a gunner aboard the ship, and had many fond memories of his service time. He was discharged in 1947 following his second enlistment, at which time he completed his high school education, studied lab technician classes at Lycoming College, and earned an engineering degree from Bucknell University in Lewisburg. He was employed for 30 years as a professional hydraulic engineer with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection until retiring in 1986.
Don attended Christ United Methodist Church, Hughesville. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #299, F & AM, Muncy, and both the Muncy and Hughesville Historical Societies. Don was very active in the Destroyer Escort Sailor’s Association and was also a former member of the National Ski Patrol.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Carlene Hess Kahler of Hughesville, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald K. Jr. and Kathryn Kahler of Bethlehem and William J. and Ann Kahler of Muncy; one brother and sister-in-law, William K. and Nancy Kahler of Montgomery; one sister, Mary Lou Houseknecht of Muncy; and five grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by a sister, Barbara McClain.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 18, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. Officiating will be Rev. Arthur Gladfelter, retired United Methodist minister. Burial will follow in Muncy Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be held at 7:45 p.m.

Russell J. Budman
July 07, 1942 - June 18, 2018
Russell J. "Bones" Budman, 75, a resident of Montgomery, PA, passed away on Monday, June 18, 2018 in the Geisinger Medical Center at Danville, PA. He was born on Tuesday, July 7, 1942 at Elimsport, Lycoming Co., PA a son of the late Brady James and Edna Rose (Evans) Budman. He was the husband of Dorothy Mae (Wolfe) Budman with whom he celebrated a 37th wedding anniversay on September 13, 2017.
He attended the Montgomery Area Schools. He was employed as a truck driver by Watson Rendering of Elimsport which was later bought by MOPAC of Souderton retiring in 1990.
Russell loved being outdoors and working on mowers and cutting grass. He was an avid John Deere toy collector. He especially loved his cats.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by seven children, Tina and husband Eddie Palmeter of Turbotville, PA; Linda and husband Marlin Gemberling of Mifflinburg, PA; Donna and husband Pat Deitrick of Montgomery, PA; Paula and husband Jim Raemsch of Allenwood, PA; Allen and wife Jeannie Budman of Montgomery, PA; Brady Budman and Denise Miller of Montgomery, PA; Christopher and wife Jodi Budman of Montgomery, PA; two sisters, Mary Hyde of Allenwood, PA; Pearl Raup of Allenwood, PA; one brother, Tom Budman of Montgomery, PA; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Elwood Budman; John Budman; Lou Budman; Charles Budman; Nile Budman; two sisters, Mae Bryan and Marie Hauck.

Margaret I. Milheim
December 14, 1930 - August 22, 2018
Margaret I. Milheim, 87, a former resident of Montgomery, PA, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 in the UPMC Susquehanna Skilled Nursing & Rehab Center at Muncy. Born Sunday, December 14, 1930 at Williamsport, Lycoming Co., PA she was a daughter of the late William and Margaret (Phillips) Person. She was the widow of Warren Milheim and was preceded in death by her first husband, Max Pentz.
She was employed as a housekeeper by the City View Motel at South Williamsport.
Peggy enjoyed crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by three children, Sandra and husband, William Peters of Montgomery, PA; Daniel Pentz of Montgomery, PA; Ronald Pentz of Montgomery, PA; four sisters, Janet Bennett of Montgomery, PA; Lois Hasson of Williamsport, PA; Doris Person of Williamsport, PA; Ruth Person of Williamsport, PA; three brothers, Don Person of Hughesville, PA; Bill Person of Montgomery, PA ; W. Louis Person of Tenn.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, Peggy was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy Pentz.
A celebration of her life life will be conducted on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 N. Main Street, Muncy with Reverend James R. Pentz, pastor of the New Covenant Assembly at Montgomery, officiating. Interment will be in the St. John Lutheran "Brick" Cemetery.
Eleanor Mary Stroup Sones
Eleanor Mary Stroup Sones, 94, formerly of Pennsdale, died Monday, April 25, 2011, atEleanor Sones Sycamore Manor in Montoursville.
Born June 19, 1916 in Muncy, she was the daughter of the late Ray R. and Tesse (Rogers) Renn. Her first husband, Gordon Stroup, Sr., preceded her in death on July 20, 1986. On January 29, 1994 she married Harold S. Sones, who survives.
Eleanor was a 1935 graduate of Muncy High School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Muncy, and in 1972 became a charter member of Twin Hills Church of the Nazarene, where she served as a missionary president for 20 years.
Her world revolved around her church and her family. She was devoted to the work of her church; and was a loving wife as well as the best mother in the world, constantly giving all her love and dedication to her family.
Surviving in addition to her husband, Harold, of Muncy, are one son, Rev. Thomas C. (Darlene) Stroup of Brockport, New York; four daughters, Janice Laurenson of Hughesville, R. Anne (Robert) Menges of Muncy, Wanda L. Lundy of Montoursville, and Ellen (Charles) Lawson of Camp Hill; two daughters-in-law, Marjory Dewald Stroup of Picture Rocks and Donna Gortner Stroup of Columbus, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her first husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sons, Rev. Robert Stroup, who died Dec. 10, 1999, and Gordon R. “Skip” Stroup, who died March 17, 2008; and three brothers, Roger, Roy and Robert Renn.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, at Twin Hills Church of the Nazarene, 588 Cemetery Road, Muncy. Officiating will be her son, Rev. Thomas C. Stroup, pastor of Brockport Free Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Muncy Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday at the church.

Mildred M. Munns
Mildred M. Munns, 85, of 65 Kinsey St., Montgomery, died Saturday, June 11, 2011, at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit.
Born December 3, 1925 in Clinton Twp., Lycoming County, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Ella (Likens) Myers. On Oct. 16, 1943, she married William Dillon Munns, who preceded her in death on May 5, 1991 after 47 years of marriage.
Mildred was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Montgomery. She retired from the West Company, Montgomery, where she worked as an inspector. Mildred was a life member of the Bower-Decker Post #251 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Montgomery. She thoroughly enjoyed shopping at yard sales with her grandchildren, as well as searching for four-leaf clovers.
Surviving are three sons, Charles Munns of Texas, William (Anne) Munns of Montgomery, and Robert Munns of Watsontown; two daughters, Jean (Neil) Bogart of Hughesville and Mildred Joyce (Arthur) Heiges of Muncy; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was predeceased by three brothers, Marvin, LaVern and Clifford Myers; and her sister, Marian Yates, whom she raised.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Christ Lutheran Church, 50 E. Houston Ave., Montgomery. Officiating will be her pastor, Rev. Gunther Bernhardt. Interment will be held in St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church Cemetery at the convenience of the family. A private family service will be held at a later date.
