Dora C. “Chris” Powers, 68, of 423 School House Road, Montgomery, died on Saturday, August 13, 2011, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
Born Oct. 26, 1942 in Salina, Kansas, she was a daughter of the late Charles Raymond and Alberta Naomi (Carrick) Moorman. On October 3, 1964, she married Quintein “Ed” Powers, with whom she shared 40 years until his death on Feb. 2, 2005.
A graduate of Lyons KS High School, she recently completed a two-year online medical transcription course with Allied Schools. Chris retired in 2007 from a drug and alcohol rehabilitation center in Hutchinson, KS, where she worked as a secretary.
She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection, Muncy, and a former member of the Hutchinson, Kansas, Chapter of Sweet Adelines International Singers.
Surviving are two sons, Quintein “Mike” Powers of Olympia, Washington, and Charles “Matt” Powers of Las Vegas, Nevada; two daughters, Meredith A. Powers of San Diego, California, and Melissa A. (Jackie) Clinard of Montgomery; one sister, Cathy A. (Larry) Leece of Las Vegas, Nevada; and five grandchildren.
The family is planning a memorial mass to be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 27, at the Church of the Resurrection, Musser Lane, Muncy, with her pastor, Rev. Glenn McCreary officiating. A light luncheon will follow and everyone is welcome to join the family in fellowship.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions be made to the family, c/o Melissa & Jackie Clinard, 423 School House Road, Montgomery, PA 17752, to help defray funeral costs.
Richard Alan Ruhl
Richard Alan “Rick” Ruhl, 60, of 450 Katie Lane, Montoursville, was received by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the Gatehouse in Williamsport in the presence of his loving family and friends.
Born February 1, 1951 in Danville, he was the son of the late Donald B. and Mildred Ann (Hawk) Ruhl. On December 24, 1989, he married Susan (Barchet) Ruhl, who survives.
A 1969 graduate of Shikellamy High School, Sunbury, he attended WACC (now Penn College) in Williamsport for three semesters.
Rick spent his working career in sales, most recently for the former Packaging Service Group, later Stone, in Jersey Shore, where he was a broker from 1996 until 2000. Prior to that, Rick worked as a sales manager at several area car dealerships.
He attended Lycoming Valley Baptist Church in Montoursville, where he was a drummer for the Praise Band. An excellent musician, Rick also played the guitar. In the 1960’s he was a member of the “Direct Descendants” band, who performed in the Sunbury area.
Rick’s favorite pastimes included golfing, playing cards and boating, and he was a member of the West Branch Boat Club. He also enjoyed a passionate conversation about politics.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 21 years are one son, Derrick (Misty) Ruhl of Hilliard, Ohio; one granddaughter, Olivia Ann Ruhl; his uncle, Dr. Donald Eister of Williamsport; and four cousins, including Dr. Ronald (Cynde) Eister of Williamsport. Also surviving are his two cocker spaniels, Ginger and Taffy.
Friends will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, September 4, at Lycoming Valley Baptist Church, 4980 Lycoming Mall Drive, Montoursville, where the funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Jack J. Delaney. Burial will be held privately in Montoursville Cemetery.

Roland H. Bitler
Roland H. Bitler, 66, of Picture Rocks, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011.
Born May 17, 1945 in Picture Rocks, he was a son of the late William and Lynda (Price) Bitler. He was a 1963 graduate of Hughesville High School and was employed for many years at Young Industries in Muncy.
Surviving are two brothers, Marlin Bitler of Picture Rocks and Ralph Bitler of Beaver Lake; two sisters, Barbara Schultz and Betsy Charles, both of Hughesville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one brother, Raymond “Pete” Bitler.
A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville.

James W. Morehart
(February 11, 1932 - December 5, 2014)
James W. Morehart, 82, a resident of Montgomery, PA, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2014 in the Gatehouse at Williamsport, PA. Born in Montgomery, Lycoming County, PA, on Thursday, February 11, 1932, he was the son of the late William L. and Alice C. (Pentz) Morehart.
Jim was the widower of Beverly L. (Landon) Morehart who preceded him in death on January 22, 1991.
Jim honorably served during the Korean War with the U.S. Army.
He was employed in the sample department of Construction Specialties at Muncy, PA.
Jim was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Montgomery. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed selling his plants and flowers in the spring. Jim was a member of the Montgomery Area Historical Society, Muncy Lodge #299 Free and Accepted Masons, V.F.W. Post 743 at Montgomery, the Sons of the American Revolution, Tiadaghton Chapter and a member of the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County where he was a faithful member of its Honor Guard.
He is survived by two sons, David J. Morehart, Montgomery, PA; Steven E. and wife Renee R. Morehart, Mohnton, PA; one brother, Lynwood H. Morehart, Loyalsock Twp., PA; one sister, Ruth and husband Paul Engle, Montgomery, PA; four grandchildren, Mackenzie L. Morehart; Connor S. Morehart; Delaney K. Morehart; Shannon G. Morehart. In addition to his wife, Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Albert L. (Abe) Morehart and two sisters, Pearl Rodabaugh and Hilda Hutchinson.
Funeral services will be conducted from the First United Methodist Church, 41 West Houston Avenue, Montgomery, PA at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 12, 2014 with Virginia Bailey, his pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Clinton Twp., Lycoming County, PA. Friends may call on Friday from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the church. Graveside military services will be conducted by the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County Honor Guard. The family will provide the flowers. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 41 West Houston Avenue, Montgomery, PA 17752. Arrangements are being handled by the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 40 E. Houston Avenue, Montgomery, PA.
Robert R. "Bob" Baker
Robert R. “Bob” Baker, 86, of 115 S. Main St., Muncy, died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at Sycamore Manor.
Born Jan. 4, 1926 in Muncy, he was a son of the late Ray Robert and Inez Emma (Mull) Baker. On Sept. 20, 1947, he married the former Ruth Houseknecht, with whom he shared 62 years until her death on June 2, 2010.
Following graduation from Muncy High School he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Seaman 1st Class during World War II. Bob was stationed aboard the USS Card and the USS Providence and was the recipient of the Victory Medal and the Presidential Citation. He later attended the former Williamsport Technical Institute and worked in the machine shop for 35 years at Sprout Waldron (now Andritz) in Muncy, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club.
Bob was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Muncy, and also the Roland Ritter Post #268 American Legion, Muncy, and the Edward J. Smith Post 3428 V.F.W., Muncy. He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed fishing in his spare time. A certified scuba diver, he was a former member of a local scuba search and rescue team.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Georgia and Jerry Stauffer of Muncy, and a grandson, Brent Stauffer of Mt. Vernon, NY.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Patrick Stauffer, who died April 2, 2010; one brother, Wilson Baker; and one sister, Mary Martin.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. Officiating will be his pastor, Rev. David Culbertson. Burial with full military honors will follow in Muncy Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
