Erma L. Buck

Erma L. Buck, 84, of 42 Kinsey St., Montgomery, died Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012 at the Williamsport Dialysis Center in Montoursville.

Born Dec. 14, 1927 in Montgomery, she was a daughter of the late Luther and Delsine (Breidinger) Winder. She and her first husband, George V. Hampe, Sr., shared 35 years of marriage until his death in 1981. In Oct. 1987 she married Carl A. “Bucky” Buck, Sr., who survives.

Erma previously worked for the former Weldon’s Manufacturing in Williamsport and was also employed by the former Montgomery Mills for many years. In 1982 she retired from her position as supervisor at the former Montgomery Manufacturing.

She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Delaware Run. For many years she enjoyed gardening and canning, as well as playing cards and camping. She was a member of the Bower-Decker Post #251 American Legion, Montgomery.

Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Gail Hampe and Carl and Joyce Hampe, all of Muncy; and George Jr. and Nancy Hampe of Melbourne, Fla.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Rich Mincemoyer and Jeanne and Donald Hollenbach of Watsontown, and Marti and Jeff Moorhead of Montgomery; one stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Carl Jr. and Mary Buck of Montgomery; two stepdaughters, Linda Huffman of Montgomery and Debra Mills of Watsontown; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her first husband and her parents she was predeceased by an infant daughter, Carol Ann; six brothers and five sisters.

In keeping with her wishes, services will be held at the convenience of the family. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6590 Musser Lane, Watsontown, PA 17777.

Charles C. Scott, Sr.

Charles C. Scott, Sr., 88, of 441 Kepner Hill Road, Muncy, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2012 at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit. Born Sept. 10, 1923 in Muncy, he was a son of the late Charles C. and Jessie Mae (Geasey) Scott.

Surviving are his wife, the former Elizabeth J. Kingeter, of Muncy; four children, Chuck Scott and wife Diane of Williamsport, Sharon Wilt of Ralston, Bill Scott and wife Sue of Muncy, and Candy Povish and husband Tom of Hughesville; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held in Muncy Cemetery. The family will provide the flowers.

Charles W. Duchman, Sr.

Charles W. Duchman, Sr., 75, of 577 Old Road, Montgomery, died Sunday evening, February 19, 2012, at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit surrounded by his family.

Born May 7, 1936 in Milton, he was the son of the late Chester Arden and Grace (Stechenfinger) Duchman. He and his wife of 57 years, the former Audrey D. Page, were married Sept. 30, 1954.

Following graduation from Montgomery High School in 1954, Charlie enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked for the PA Department of Public Welfare for 25 years, retiring in 1998.

Charlie was a member of St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, Montgomery where he served on the church council and was involved with the annual Last Supper performance. When his sons were young he was a Cub Scout Den Leader and a Montgomery Little League coach, and later assisted with security at the Little League World Series. Charlie was a 48-year member of the Muncy Lodge #299 F&AM and also belonged to the Williamsport Consistory. He actively participated with the Muncy Valley Hospital Lawn Party and was a past Chairperson of the event, and also was a treasurer for Montgomery Senior Citizens.

Charlie was a 39-year member of the Montgomery Lions Club and was very committed to the organization. He was a District 14-G Governor in 1984-85; a past Leadership Chairperson and a past Protocol Chairperson of Pennsylvania Lions Club International; and served on the board of the Northeast Pennsylvania Lions Eye Bank for 22 years and the Pennsylvania Lions Foundation for 20 years. Every spring he portrayed the Easter Bunny at the annual egg hunt, and sold lots of sauerkraut in the winter.

Charlie's main passion in life consisted of the time he spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, particularly at their sporting events. His eyes lit with pride every time he observed their accomplishments.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Jr. and Susan Duchman of Williamsport and Paul Sr. and Vanessa Duchman of Odenton, MD; one daughter and son-in-law, Cathleen and Elwood Kessler of Locke, NY; one sister and brother-in-law, Reba and C. Ed Decker of Altoona; one step-sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Dean “Junior” Mertz of Montandon; one half-brother, Scott Herrick of Georgia; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Daniel) Griffin, Brian Kessler, Kevin (Devon) Kessler, Michele (Rich) Rodarmel, Cody Duchman, Christopher Duchman and Paul Duchman, Jr.; and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 24 at St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, 196 Brick Church Road, Montgomery. Officiating will be his pastor, Rev. MarthaSue Moll. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.

Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy and again from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday at the church prior to the funeral. A Lion’s Memorial Service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the Northeast Pennsylvania Lions Eye Bank, 2346 Jacksonville Road, Bethlehem, PA 18017-3613.

Donald E. Breneisen

Donald E. Breneisen, 66, of 105 Carpenter St., Muncy, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012 at the Gatehouse in Williamsport.

Born Nov. 24, 1945 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late William Alfred and Dorothy (Feigles) Breneisen. On June 20, 1970 he married the former Mary “Mitze” I. Zavada, who survives.

A 1964 graduate of Muncy High School, Don served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed by the U. S. Postal Service for 37 years, retiring in Sept. 2009 after serving as Postmaster in Unityville for the last 16 of those years.

Don was a member of Muncy Baptist Church. He also belonged to the Roland Ritter Post 268 American Legion, Muncy; the Edward J. Smith Post 3428 V.F.W., Muncy; the Muncy Valley Loyal Order of Moose #866, Muncy; and the Highland Lake Manor 40/8 Club, Hughesville. Don possessed a passion for the outdoors and was a member of the Piney Ridge Hunting Club, Huntersville. He loved being in the presence of his family and friends.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 41 years are one son, Tyler P. Breneisen of Conshohocken; two daughters and sons-in-law, Amy M. (Breneisen) and Daniel Ford of Muncy, and Corey R. (Breneisen) and Jomo Dixon of Kingston, Jamaica; four brothers, Harvey B. (Carrie) Breneisen and Steven M. (Mary Lou) Breneisen, all of Hughesville, and M. Edward Breneisen and Thomas B. Breneisen, both of Muncy; three sisters, Wilhelmina (Robert) Rose of Crestline, Calif., Geraldine L. Barkan of San Pedro, Calif., and Debra K. (Robert) Woodside of Muncy; four grandchildren, Cy and Lula Dixon and Nolan and Wyatt Ford; and his mother-in-law, Eleanor “Polly” Zavada of South Williamsport.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, Al Barkan and Earl "Bud" Bower; one sister-in-law, Cynthia Breneisen; and his father-in-law, Paul Zavada.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, at Muncy Baptist Church, Penn & Market Streets, Muncy, where a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Officiating will be his pastor, Rev. Scott Warren. Military honors will be accorded at the church following the service.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the Gatehouse, payable to Susquehanna Health Foundation, 1001 Grampian Boulevard, Williamsport, PA 17701.

Lehman C. Dewalt
January 20, 1927 - August 03, 2018

Lehman C. "Leamie" Dewalt, 91, a resident of Montgomery, PA, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 in the Williamsport Regional Medical Center. Born Thursday, January 20, 1927 in Clinton Twp., Lycoming Co., PA, he was a son of the late Jesse and Bessie (Canada) Dewalt, Sr.

He was the husband of Peggy A. (Whitmoyer) Dewalt with whom he celebrated a 43rd wedding anniversary on January 31, 2018.

Leamie was employed by the former Montgomery Mills and retired from Habig Veneers at Montgomery.

He was a long time member of the Clinton Twp. Volunteer Fire Co. Leamie was an avid New York Yankees fan and enjoyed country music and visiting Knoebels Grove.

He was the last of his immediate family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 12 siblings, Jesse Dewalt, Jr.; Melvin Dewalt; Willard Dewalt; David Dewalt; Elwood Dewalt; Edward Dewalt; Alberta Pysher; Emma Temple; Melva Dewalt; Jessie Pennycoff; Helen Dewalt and Hazel Dewalt.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. from the St. John Lutheran "Brick" Church, 196 Brick Church Road, Montgomery with Reverend Theodore Cockley, interim pastor, officiating. Interment will be in the church Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday at the church from 12:00 - 1:00 P.M. Flowers are welcome.

Helen Marie Field

Helen Marie Field, 88, formerly of Minnesota and Illinois, died at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit, Nov. 23, 2008.

She is survived by one daughter, Margaret J. Campbell, of Hughesville, one son, Ronald B. Eisele, of Ft. Wayne, Ind., four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. McCarty-Thomas Hughesville, is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
