David C. Skelton, 67, of 1247 Alvira Rd., Allenwood, was reunited with the love of his life, Sunday, March 25, 2012.
Born January 16, 1945 in Girard, he was a son of the late Gavin and Evelyn (Clark) Skelton. On July 15, 1967, he married the former Gail Barlow. She preceded him in death on February 4, 2001 after 33 years of marriage.
He was a graduate of Rice Avenue Union High School in Girard. Following high school, David served briefly in the Air Force. He was employed by the former Woolworth, ACF Industries, Milton, and the former Grumman Industries, Montgomery. He retired from CATV, Danville where he was an Advertising Sales Representative for 10 years.
David was of the Baptist faith.
A cowboy at heart, he was an avid Jeff Gordon fan and a fan of Pittsburgh sports. David was also an awesome Pop Pop to his grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Margaret Skelton of Allenwood and Robert and Jennifer Skelton of Watsontown; one brother, Jim Skelton of Girard; one sister, Paula Wells of Williamsport; and three granddaughters, Shelby, Courtney and Abigail Skelton.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by one brother, Daniel Skelton.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 31, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. Officiating will be Pastor Michael Hill, minister at Elimsport United Methodist Church. Burial will be held privately in the Elimsport Cemetery.

Sara A. (Miller) Aderhold
Sara A. (Miller) Aderhold, 75, of Williamsport, walked whole into the arms of Jesus, her Savior, on Nov. 10, 2008 at her residence.
Born Sept. 10, 1933 in Muncy, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester D. and Grace I. (Rupert) Miller.
She was the loving wife of 56 years to Harrison F. Aderhold..
She graduated from Muncy Schools and was a former employee of Carroll House department store and retired from GTE Sylvania. She was a member of the St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Williamsport, Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 500, Zafar Grottoettes, the Order of the Amaranth and had volunteered at the food court for Little League. She enjoyed crafts, collecting teddy bears and traveling.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; John F. and Joy Aderhold of Williamsport, two daughters and sons-in-law; Ilene K. and Oren Butler of Williamsport and Ann L. and Terry Polichetti of Little Egg Harbor, NJ; six grandchildren; Jamie Aderhold, Andrea Greene, Stephenie Butler, Brad Butler, Sarah Polichetti and James Polichetti, four great grandchildren; Kaytlin Nye, Althea Greene, Tanner Aderhold and Tabitha Aderhold, three brothers and sisters-in-law; Oscar D. and Kay Miller of Santee, CA, Grover L. and Marlyn Miller of Rapid City, SD and Robert G. and Sheryl Miller of Muncy; five sisters and three brothers-in-law; Mary K. and Stanley Kepner of Hughesville, Beverly J. Frantz of Hughesville, Annabell M. and Ronald Reitmeyer of Temple, AZ, Betty E. and David Nelson of Picture Rocks and Charlotte L. Faust of Hughesville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother; Harold D. Miller in 1963.
Funeral services were held Nov. 14, at Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, Williamsport with a service conducted by the Order of Eastern Star. Graveside services were held privately at the convenience of the family in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy.

Byron M. Dugan
Byron M. Dugan, 88, of 57 Heatherbooke Estates, Muncy, died Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at home.
Born Aug. 8, 1923 in Clarkstown, he was a son of the late Harry Preston and Laura (Michael) Dugan. On June 8, 1943, he married the former Betty J. Carpenter, who survives.
Byron was a 1942 graduate of Muncy High School, where he enjoyed an outstanding sports career. He lettered all four years from 1939 to 1942 in wrestling and football, and was Muncy’s first wrestling state champion, finishing his senior year with a 13-0 record. He was inducted into the Muncy High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 1978.
In 1943 he joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II, where he was stationed in China and Burma. His unit was assigned to the construction of the new Burma Road. In 1950 he was re-activated and served during the Korean War.
Byron attended the former Williamsport Technical Institute from 1946 to 1948 and worked as a mechanic at Harvey Corson’s garage and Stein’s Garage, both formerly in Muncy. In 1985 he retired from Sprout-Waldron, now Andritz, where he worked as a Master Mechanic in the Service Department.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Clarkstown. In addition, he was a life member of Edward J. Smith Post 3428 V.F.W., Muncy; Roland Ritter Post 268 American Legion, Muncy; and the N.R.A. Due to his fondness for the outdoors and his desire to hunt and shoot, he and his brother, Milford, formed the Sulphur Springs Rifle & Revolver Club, Clarkstown, of which he was a charter member. He was also a member of Keystone Sportsman’s Club.
Byron possessed a great love for his family and enjoyed spending time with all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In his spare time he also enjoyed woodworking.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 68 years are one son and daughter-in-law, James and Diane Dugan of Saskatoon-Saskatchewan, Canada; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Diane Dugan of Harrisburg, Sharon Bitler of Clarkstown, Mary Lee and Wayne Ettinger of Williamsport, Loretta and Walter VanNuys of Selinsgrove, and Julie and Harold Miller of Greenville, SC; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances and Dean Spring of Clarkstown and Janet and Ray Confer of Muncy; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Alan “Cork” Dugan, who died in 2008, and Milford Dugan, who was killed in World War II; and two sisters, Mary Funk and Helen Marsh.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 19, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 2041 Rt. 442 Highway, Muncy. Officiating will be Pastor Beverly D. Cotner, interim pastor. Burial with full military honors will follow in Muncy Cemetery. A luncheon for family and friends will be served at the Clarkstown Fire Hall, Rt. 442, following the services.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.

H. Frederick Koons, Jr.
H. Frederick “Fred” Koons, Jr., 67, of 285 William St., Winfield, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the SUN Home Hospice Care Center, Sunbury.
Born Oct. 24, 1944 in Muncy, he was a son of the late Harold Frederick Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Border) Koons.
Following his 1962 graduation from Muncy High School, where he played the flute in the band, Fred continued to expand his education in various fields. In 1966 he received an A.B. degree from Franklin and Marshall College and in 1967 he pursued graduate studies at the University of Rhode Island. In 1976 he earned a British Horse Society Instructorship from Rockhampton School of Equitation in Rockhampton, England; and in 1979 he was the recipient of a Master’s degree with a concentration on community clinical psychology from Mansfield University.
In his younger years, Fred was a lifeguard at the Patrizio Pool in Muncy. He began his professional career in 1967 as a teacher and chairman of science at Friend’s Academy; and in 1970 he became a psychological counselor at the Williamsport Hospital Rehabilitation Center. He continued to work in the psychology field from 1970 until 2003 at various centers, including Family and Children’s Services, Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit #16, Divine Providence Community Mental Health Center, Family Counseling and Mental Health Center, Central Susquehanna Diagnostic Center, Selinsgrove Center, and the State Correctional Institution in Muncy. In 2006 and 2007 he worked as a part-time therapist at the White Deer Center.
Despite his busy career in psychology, Fred found time to pursue his passion for animals. In 1987 he opened Highlea Kennels in Winfield, where he taught dog obedience courses on a part-time basis, boarded dogs, and offered aid to various rescue organizations. While employed at SCI in Muncy he was instrumental in starting a service dog training program with the inmates which was coordinated with Canine Partners for Life. As part of his equine training in England he became involved in horse shows, hunting and jumping. Locally he taught riding lessons and trained several area state champions. In addition, Fred was involved with 4H, enjoyed skiing, and was a volunteer with Evangelical Hospice.
Surviving are one sister, Joan (Kenneth) Snyder of Pennsdale; three nieces, Melanie (Gregory) Eiswerth of Muncy, Pamela (Valentine) Fenstermacher of Watsontown and Betsey Richner of Pennsdale; one nephew Matthew Snyder of Muncy; five great-nephews, Ethan (Vanessa) Eiswerth of Macungie, Trevor Eiswerth of Harrisburg, Tyler Richner of Pennsdale, and Dustin Richner (Megan Mottern) and Noah Snyder, all of Hughesville; two great-nieces, Mary Katherine Snyder of Watsontown and Kiah Richner of Muncy; and two great-great-nieces, Mari Eiswerth and Calise Eiswerth.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by two nephews, Douglas Snyder and Kenneth Snyder II; and his Aunt Martha E. Koons.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, at Beaver Memorial United Methodist Church, 42 S. Third St., Lewisburg. Officiating will be Rev. James R. Taylor, SUN Home Health Hospice chaplain. Interment will be held privately in Muncy Cemetery.
