George W. Fuller, 54, of Muncy, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007, in the Williamsport Hospital. Born in Kelly Twp., on Jan. 6, 1953, he was the son of Harry and Evelyn (Deeter) Fuller.
Mr. Fuller was a social member of American Legion Post 268 at Muncy.
He is survived by three children, Misty Dawn Fuller and George W. “Wally” Fuller, both of Florida; Joshua Fuller, Indiana, PA; one brother, Gene Fuller, Muncy; four sisters, Fran Burley, Muncy; Cindy (Charles) Shreck, Montgomery; Lois Maroney, Florida; Ethie (Howard) Propst, Muncy; two half-brothers, Leonard Fuller, Hughesville; Clayton “Tator” Fuller, Muncy; two half-sisters, Winnie Knouse, Middleburg; Naomi Laidecker, Williamsport; and several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sonny and Edward Fuller and by two half-brothers, Harold and Roy Fuller.
A memorial service will be conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, Muncy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007 with Dennis Burley, his nephew, officiating.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Grace H. Housel
Grace H. Housel, of Muncy, died Monday, Nov. 24, 2008, at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit. She was the widow of the late James S. Housel, who died Aug. 11, 1977.
Born in Muncy Township, she was a daughter of the late William W. and Lizzie A. (Bieber) Hoffman.
A 1932 honors graduate of Muncy High School, she was a member of the Glee Club and the Drama Club, participated in her junior class play, and was active in all sports. She served on the Executive Committee of the school’s Alumni Association.
Mrs. Housel worked as a receptionist in Muncy for the late Dr. Sara Hall from 1934 to 1940; and then as a cashier and telephone operator at the former L. L. Stearns in Williamsport from 1941 to 1960.
A member of the Muncy Valley Hospital Auxiliary, she served as president from 1988 to 2001. She was a charter member of the Muncy Valley Hospital Lawn Party committee and volunteered for many years in the hospital. In March 2002 she received a citation for her many years of service and dedication to the hospital.
She was a charter member and past president of the Muncy Garden Club; a member of the Monsey Chapter No. 41, Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Muncy Historical Society. She previously served on Muncy Borough Council and was a past board member for the Muncy Public Library and for the executive board of the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Home, Lewisburg.
An active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Turbotville, Mrs. Housel enjoyed performing as a soprano soloist there and as a guest soloist in several area churches. She also previously sang with the former Muncy Choral Club.
There are no immediate survivors. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by five brothers.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, in the chapel of the Muncy Valley Hospital, 215 E. Water St., Muncy. Officiating will be her pastor, the Rev. Erwin C. Roux, assisted by Sister Sharon Hartman.

Herman L. Eiswerth
Herman L. Eiswerth, 79, of Muncy, died Nov. 27, 2008.
Born Oct. 25, 1929, in Nippenose Valley, he was a son of the late George L. and Elizabeth (Caldwell) Eiswerth.
A U.S. Army veteran, he served as a Sergeant in the 335th Replacement Battalion during the Korean War.
He was employed at Sylvania in Montoursville for 23 years until opening Herman Eiswerth Garden Center, which he operated until his retirement.
Mr. Eiswerth was a member of the Glenn Sharrow Post 35 American Legion, Hughesville, the Pa. Nurseryman’s Association, the Muncy Valley Moose Lodge 866 and the former Antler’s Country Club.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Irene (Eck) Eiswerth of Muncy; one daughter, Janice C. (Charles) Brain of Gordon; three sons, Gregory H. (Melanie) Eiswerth of Muncy, Mark L. Eiswerth of Houston, TX, and Jay H. Eiswerth of Muncy; four grandchildren, Ethan D. (Vanessa) Eiswerth of Macungie, Trevor N. Eiswerth of Middletown, Jennifer (Zebulon) Geedey of Mechanicsburg, and Drew C. Eiswerth of Hughesville; four step-grandchildren, Tara Russell of Hughesville and Jeremy Walburn, Tyre Weikel and Seth Weikel, all of Texas; and one sister, Mary Jane (Robert) Gawryla of State College.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, Muncy.
Raymond Garlick
Raymond Garlick, 79, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, of Montoursville, died at home, after a lengthy illness on Nov. 22, 2008.
He was the husband of Elfrieda Busch Garlick and the father of five, Edwin, Edgewater, FL; Kenneth, Gilbertsville, PA; Sonia Smith, Hughesville; Victoria Reed, Montoursville; and Grace O’Brien, Peach Bottom, PA.
Prior to his illness, Garlick was a life member of the Pennsdale Fire Company, where he held the office of Treasurer of The Pennsdale FC Firemen’s Relief Association, Captain of the Pennsdale Fire Police.
He served as Emergency Management Coordinator for Upper Fairfield and Mill Creek Townships, and was also a member of the Lycoming County Fire Police Association.
Garlick was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. It was because of this love, he came to Lycoming County in 1969. Prior to this move, he spent his entire life living in the Philadelphia area.
A memorial service was held at Pennsdale United Methodist Church on Nov. 25. The family requests that donations be made to his wife, the Pennsdale Fire Police for the purchase of safety equipment, or the American Cancer Society.
Richard L. Hill
Richard L. Hill, 56, of Montoursville, and a guest at Outlook Pointe, Montoursville, died Sunday, Feb, 4, 2007.
Born Sept. 7, 1950 in Muncy, he was a son of Richard F. and Betty I. Miller Hill.
A 1969 graduate of Muncy High School, he worked for Con Agra Foods in Milton for 27 years.
He is survived by his father of Muncy; his wife, the former Beverly M. Sponenburg; three step sons, Donald L. Shannon, Stephen G. Shannon, and Scott W. (Deb) Shannon; three step daughters, Debra J. (Lars) Engdahl, Julie A. (Paul) Mahon, and DeeAnn L. (Kevin) Freezer; a brother, Michael (Betty) Hill; 29 step grandchildren, and 18 step great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his mother on Oct. 23, 1998, and by a step son, Edward Shannon.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, at the Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville with the Rev. Matthew Meeder of Evangelical Free Fellowship, Muncy, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Montoursville Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 1–2 p.m. at the funeral home.
