Alveretta M. Harris, 84, a resident of Turbotville, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 13, 2014 in the Geisinger Medical Center at Danville, PA. Born in Muncy Creek Twp., Lycoming County, PA, on Tuesday, May 27, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Oliver Roy and Mary Helen (Geringer) Michael.
She was the wife of Chester C. Harris with whom she celebrated a 66th wedding anniversary on December 23, 2013.
Alveretta was last employed as a meat packer by Weis Markets at Danville, PA. She was a member of the Radiant Light Assembly of God at Muncy, PA and attended the New Testament Assembly of God at Millville, PA. Alveretta loved to sew, bake, collect recipes, reading her Bible and attending the 39 Plus Club at Hughesville.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Sandra and husband Ronald Johnston, Danville, PA and Sally D. Lyons, Millville, PA. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Alveretta was preceded in death by six siblings; Erma Snyder, Ralph Umpstead, Paul Michael, Ray Michael, Larue Michael, Pearl McCarty Smith and her son-in-law, H. Wayne Lyons.
Funeral services will be conducted from the New Testament Assembly of God, 2376 State Route 42, Millville, PA at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 with Pastor David Rosenberger and Pastor Isaac Wilson, officiating. Interment will be in the Muncy Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the New Testament Assembly of God 2376 State Route 42, Millville, PA. The family will provide the flowers. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Women's Ministry at the New Testament Assembly of God, 2376 State Route 42, Millville, PA, 17846.

Georgene H. Wurster
December 13, 1923 - November 21, 2014
Georgene H. Wurster, 90, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2014 at her home. Born in Williamsport, Lycoming County, PA, on Thursday, December 13, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Dwight and Mildred (Ealer) Hassenplug. Georgene was the widow of Gordon A. Wurster who preceded her in death in 1981.
She was a 1941 graduate of Montoursville High School and attended Dickinson Junior College. She honorably served her country as a Wave in the US Navy during World War II. Georgene was employed by the Pennsylvania State Employment Service at Williamsport. She later went to Woolever's Transfer to help out for awhile and ended up staying on for 22 years as their secretary. Until recently, she was employed by the Herr Cable Company in their billing department.
Georgene was a member of the Lycoming County Historical Society and a director of the Loyalsock Creek Watershed Association.
She is survived by three sons, Gregory Wurster, Montoursville, PA; Lloyd Wurster, Muncy, PA; Matthew and wife Dixie Wurster, Montoursville, PA; one daughter, Carson Woodruff, Stillwater, PA; five grandchildren, Dr. Maria and husband Brad Tucker; Brigette and husband Jared Moss; Liberty Woodruff; Noel Woodruff; Marr Woodruff; one great-grandson, Benjamin Woodruff and one sister, Molly and husband Tom Serafin, Austin, TX.
At Georgene's request, there will be no services. Contributions in Georgene's memory may be made to the Loyalsock Creek Watershed Association, P.O. Box 216, Montoursville, PA 17754. Arrangements are being handled by the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 North Main Street, Muncy, PA.
Kathryn A. VanWhy

Kathryn A. VanWhy, 86, formerly of Montgomery, PA, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 in the Susquehanna Health Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Unit at Muncy Valley Hospital. Born in Dewart, Northumberland County, PA, on Thursday, May 24, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Viola (Shaner) Phillips. Katie was the widow of Moses F. VanWhy who preceded her in death on December 14, 1996.
Katie was last employed by the former Ames Department Store at South Williamsport, PA and was previously employed by the former Hills Department Store and Montgomery Mills.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Montgomery, PA. Katie enjoyed and was content being a homemaker.
She is survived by one daughter, Mahala "Halley" VanWhy, Montgomery, PA; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Nettie VanWhy, Montgomery, PA; Robert M. and Patty VanWhy, Montgomery, PA; six grandchildren, Halley Marie VanWhy; Shani Groover; Moses VanWhy; Amber VanWhy; Bobby VanWhy; Kathy VanWhy; ten great-grandchildren, Travis Groover; Ashley Groover; Jaden VanWhy; Karly VanWhy; Cash VanWhy; Cavin VanWhy; Cage VanWhy; Jazzelyn VanWhy; Bentley VanWhy; Gabrielle Wade. In addition to her husband, Kathryn was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori VanWhy, her son Clarence (Moe) VanWhy; two brothers, Marvin and Harold Phillips and one sister, Ruth Faulkner.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 North Main Street, Muncy, PA at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 14, 2015 with Rebecca Cuddeback, pastor of the Jersey Shore First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Franklin Twp., Lycoming, PA. Friends may call on Saturday from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Pennsylvania Chapter, 57 N. Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701-1317.
Dennis R. Satteson

Dennis R. Satteson, 55, a resident of Elimsport, PA, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2015 in the Williamsport Regional Medical Center. Born in Muncy Creek Twp., Lycoming County, PA, on Thursday, June 11, 1959, he was the son of the late Barton D. and Mary E. (Fox) Satteson, Sr. Denny and Cheryl L. Buck were united in marriage on Tuesday, February 17, 2015.
Denny was a 1977 graduate of Montgomery High School. He was employed as a welder by High Steel Structures at Williamsport, PA.
Denny was a social member of American Legion Post 251 at Montgomery. He enjoyed pool, woodworking and especially enjoyed dancing where he was known as Gumby, Crazy Legs or Slinkey. Denny cherished spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Lacina R. Satteson and fiancee Nicholas Holiday, Watsontown, PA; Lanessa L. and husband Daniel Taylor, Montgomery, PA; Brenton H. Satteson, Elimsport, PA; four grandchildren, Hunter; Autumn; Brock; Skylar and four siblings, Barton D. Satteson, Jr. and wife Donna, Elimsport, PA; William M. and wife Joyce Satteson, Montgomery, PA; Reda E. and husband Glenn Everetts, Elimsport, PA; Daniel E. "Sooner" and wife Sandy Satteson, Montgomery, PA.
A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 40 E. Houston Avenue, Montgomery, PA.
Stanley B. Kiess

Stanley B. Kiess, 79, a resident of Montgomery, PA, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 in the ManorCare Health Services-North at Williamsport, PA. Born in Muncy Creek Twp., Lycoming County, PA, on Saturday, November 9, 1935, he was the son of the late Forrest and Carrie (Neff) Kiess. Stan was the widower of Anna L. (Hamilton) Kiess who preceded him in death on May 20, 1989.
He honorably served with the U.S. Army and following his active duty Stan continued his service with the Army National Guard. He was employed by the former J.C. Decker at Montgomery, PA and had also been employed by the former Montgomery Mills.
Stan was an active life member of Bower-Decker American Legion Post 251 at Montgomery where he had been active in the Honor Guard and was a member of the 40 et 8 at Williamsport. PA. Stan enjoyed and was very knowledgeable about all sports. He enjoyed helping his neighbors, especially with their errands.
He is survived by three children, Judy and Paul Schaeffer, Muncy, PA; Dave "Geisel" and Denise Morehart, Watsontown, PA; Mary and Steve Harding, Montgomery, PA; two brothers; Harry Kiess, Williamsport, PA; Paul Kiess, Williamsport, PA. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. Stan is also survived by three step-children. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one step-son.
Funeral services will be conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 North Main Street, Muncy, PA at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, February 27, 2015 with Pastor Tim Morehart, his step-grandson, officiating. Interment will be in the Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call on Thursday from 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Graveside military honors will be accorded by the joint veterans organizations. The family will provide the flowers. Mary Ann Lewis, 74, a resident of Muncy, PA, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015 in the ManorCare Health Services-South at Williamsport, PA. Born in Muncy Creek Twp., Lycoming County, PA, on Wednesday, October 2, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Richard M. and Dorothy (Foulkrod) Allen.
Mary Ann was the widow of William B. Lewis who preceded her in death on March 22, 2008.
She was a 1958 graduate of Muncy High School and was retired from Furman's at Northumberland, PA where she was employed as a merchandise purchaser.
Mary Ann is survived by three children, Dr. Nancy Joan Myers, Chillicothe, OH; Dwight David Vann, New Market, Alabama; Brian D. and wife Michelle Vann, Muncy, PA.; five siblings, Timothy Allen, Mt. Pleasant, IA; Thomas Allen, Napa, CA; Richard Allen, Baltimore, MD; Susan Scofield, Napa, CA; Nancy Flick, Hughesville, PA; three grandchildren, Brittnee Vann; Hailee D. Vann; Owen D. Vann; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey M. Barto; Carson O. Barto. In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Harold William Allen.
