The Rev. Dr. Robert L. Close, 79, of Lewisburg, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg.
Friends will be received from 1-2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 4, at Beaver Memorial United Methodist Church, Lewisburg, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m.
After the service, there will be a time for sharing memories in the fellowship hall.
Arnold L. “Brownie” Brown
Arnold L. “Brownie” Brown, 75, of Montoursville, formerly of Sonestown, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at the Williamsport Hospital.
Born May 17, 1933, he was a son of the late Walter and Owanda Kilmer Brown.
His wife of 36 years, the former Patricia G. Crist, preceded him in death on June 22, 2006.
Brownie was a truck driver for several area businesses and retired in 1995 from Eastern Wood Products.
He was a member of the Valley United Methodist Church, Muncy Valley.
Brownie enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing bingo and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are seven sons, Lyle, Tony, Brian, Rocky, Jerry, Scott and Randy; three daughters, Lisa, Juanita and Denise; a brother, Gary (Judy) Brown; a sister, Yolanda (Charles) Mosher; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements were entrusted to the McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, Hughesville.
Bonnie Lee George
Bonnie Lee George, 74, of Elimsport, passed away Dec. 5, 2008 at the Evangelical Community Hospital in Lewisburg.
Born in Sabetha, Kansas, on Sept. 30, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Elwin A. and Thelma V. (Young) Clifton.
She was the class valedictorian upon graduation in 1952 from Genoa High School in Genoa, Colorado.
She was retired from the shipping department of Spring Window Fashions, Montgomery.
She enjoyed flower gardening.
She is survived by three sons, Chuck Strayer and his fiancée Amy Wood, Muncy; Clifton V. and his wife, Christina Strayer, Oval; Clark L. and his wife, Sherry Strayer, Muncy; one daughter, Debbie S. and her husband, Brad Woolever, S. Williamsport; one brother, Virgil Clifton, Kansas; four sisters, Twila Taylor, Kansas; Peggy Shrewsbury, Kansas; Susie Smith, Kansas; Shirley Butler, Seaford, DE; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Elwin Clifton, Jr. and Charles Clifton.
Funeral services were conducted from the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, Muncy, on Dec. 9, with the Rev. Robert A. Lauver, pastor of New Life Church, Pennsdale, and Pastor Dennis Moore of the Hope for Today United Pentecostal Church in Watsontown, officiating.
Interment was in the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Cemetery, Montgomery.
Brennan Eli Kilbourn
Brennan Eli Kilbourn, 2, of Hughesville, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born April 13, 2006, he was a son of Stuart L. and Jennifer A. Miller Kilbourn.
Brennan enjoyed tagging along with his dad and helping out whenever he could; keeping his favorite blue blanket close to his side.
He had quite a fascination with tractors, trains and most anything mechanical.
However, one of his greatest joys was watching his favorite cartoon, Diego.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his siblings, Seth and Lyndsay, both at home; a paternal grandfather, Lawrence Kilbourn of Roaring Branch; a maternal grandfather, Jake Wilson of Montoursville; and maternal grandparents, Linda (Jim) Collins of Alba.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Shirley Kilbourn.
A memorial service was held Dec. 5 at the Evangelical Friends Church, Hughesville, with Rev. Dan Cale, officiating.
Burial was held in Spencer Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

John R. Katherman
John R. Katherman, 69, of Raphine, VA, died Friday, November 28, 2008.
Survivors include his brother, Robert Katherman of Hughesville.
A memorial service was held Dec. 6 at Zion Lutheran Church, Turbotville.
Burial was in Lincoln Chapel Cemetery, Laurelton.
