Donald W. “Duck” Flanigan Jr., 66, of North Coventry Township, died Nov. 1, 2002.
Surviving are a son, a daughter, two brothers, four sisters, four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, a daughter, a brother, and a sister.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002 at 11 a.m. from Trinity Assembly of God Church, North Loyalsock Ave., Montoursville.
Betty E. Gottschall
Betty E. Gottschall, 77, died Monday, April 28, 2003, at the Muncy Valley Skilled Nursing Unit, where she had been a resident for the past three years.
Her husband of 51 years, Carl E. Gottschall, died November 7, 1995.
Betty previously attended Moreland Baptist Church.
She was born December 16, 1925, in Downingtown, PA.
Surviving are three sons, Martin L. Gottschall of Muncy, John N. Gottschall of Montoursville and Eugene C. Gottschall of York; three daughters, Charlotte I. Lucas and Alice Martin, both of Coatesville, and Diane Ulrich of Williamsport; one brother, Frank Wilson of West Chester, and nine grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. on Friday at Wallis-Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Paul T. Fitzgerald of the Moreland Baptist Church. Burial will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 12 to 1 p.m. on Friday.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests that memorial contibutions be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720.
Christine Swanson
Christine Swanson, 47, of 113 Person Road, Montgomery, died Monday, April 28, 2003, at home following a brief illness. She was born Oct. 29, 1955, in Williamsport.
Christine was employed by Hope Enterprises and was honored as their employee of the year for 2002. She was also a graduate of Cumberland County area schools.
Surviving is her mother, Helen W. Swanson, with whom she lived; her father, Wilbert R. Swanson of Mechanicsburg; brother W. Raymond (Judi) Swanson Jr. of city; sisters Patricia (Steve) Persun of city, Kathleen (Ronald) Ranck of Montgomery, Judy (Daryl) Fite of Plant City, Fla., and Joanne (Ricardo) Prokup of Pittsburgh; aunts Marjorie (Mike) Howells and Sister M. Justa Walton, IHM; nieces and nephews Shawn, Jack, Jason, John, Raymond, Ronnie, Kyle, Jimmy, Gary, Tracy, Michelle and Laura; and great-nieces and nephews Kalani, Kirstianna, Allyson, Desirae, Chandler, Travis and Preston.
A Mass of the Angels will be held 11 a.m. Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd., with the Rev. Michael Zipay celebrating. Interment in Green Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave., from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

Dr. Ray Bowen
A memorial service for Dr. Ray Bowen, who passed away Sunday, April 27, 2003, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, May 3, at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport, in addition to services scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at the Monahan Funeral Home, Gettysburg.
Erla Jeane Gehron
Erla Jeane Gehron, 80, of 2296 Kenwood Ave., died Monday, April 28, 2003, in Montoursville.
Born July 28, 1922, in Masten, she was a daughter of Fred C. and Hannah Lisbeth Cronk Legge. Her husband, Harold H. Gehron, died Sept. 3, 2000, and she was also preceded in death by her brother, Fred Y. Legge.
Mrs. Gehron retired as a secretary at Lycoming Valley and Roosevelt middle schools. She was a member of the Church of the Savior, Lutheran.
Michael J. F. Gehron, her son, of Frederick, Md., survives.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family in the chapel of Wildwood Cemetery with the Rev. H. Frank Showers officiating. Burial will follow in Wildwood. There will be no visitation.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorials be given to the American Heart Association, 1704 Warren Ave., Williamsport, PA 17701.

Herbert H. (Mike) Ertel Jr.
Herbert H. (Mike) Ertel Jr., 76, of 1462 West Fourth St., died Monday, April 28, 2003, at Rose View Center following a brief illness.
Mike was a devoted and loving husband and father and had a special love for music and books. He served in the Army during WW II.
Born July 13, 1926 in Williamsport, he was a son of Herbert H. Sr. and Hilda Yount Ertel.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, the former Marjorie J. Thompson; a son, James P.; daughters, Rena M. Haluska, Mary Ellen Ertel and Kate Bowers; a brother, Dr. Paul Y. Ertel and eight grandchildren.
A graveside service in Wildwood Cemetery, will be at 2 p.m. Friday with Rev. Richard M. Haluska, his son-in-law, officiating. No visitation.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to St. Anthonyís Center, 125 E. Willow St. Williamsport, PA 17701.

Margaret L. Oakes
Margaret L. Oakes, 97, formerly of the 2500 block of Grand Street, died Sept. 3, 2002, in Wilmington, N.C.
Mrs. Oakes was the daughter of William Charles and Laura Altenburg Babel. She was the widow of Donald Bert Oakes and was also preceded in death by her daughter Janice Hamlin.
Mrs. Oakes had been active in Senior Citizens and the Meals on Wheels programs in Williamsport. She was a member of Lycoming Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Sandra Oakes of Topsail Beach, N.C., and Duke and Celeste Oakes of Reading, Mass.; a son-in-law, Dallas Hamlin of Crested Butte, Colo.; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in Lycoming Presbyterian Church, 825 Arch St., Williamsport, at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Richard W. Miller officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Montoursville Cemetery. Arrangements by Sanders Mortuary.
Samuel H. Clark
Samuel H. Clark, of Wellsboro, died April 28, 2003.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Nellie, two sons, three daughters, 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Friends and relatives are invited to Samuel’s Life Celebration on Thursday, May 1, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Calvary Tabernacle Assembly of God Church. The funeral will be there 11 a.m. Friday.
