Robert Walter Saxe, age 78, formerly of Wilmot Township, passed away Monday, April 21, at the Arnot Ogden Hospital, Elmira, N.Y.

Stephen Charles Harkins
Stephen Charles Harkins, 24, of 551 McConnell Parkway, Hughesville, formerly of the Philadelphia area, died as a result of an automobile accident on Sunday, April 20, 2003, in Hepburn Township. He was born in Levittown on May 2, 1978, the son of Stephen Joseph and Judith S. Lawver Harkins.
Steve was a graduate of Hughesville High School in 1996 where he was a member of the National Honor Society and was a scholastic achievement award winner. He attended Eastern College in St. David’s, Pa., and later graduated from Susquehanna University with a degree in marketing and information systems. He was employed by the Hay Group in Philadelphia as a marketing consultant. He was an avid soccer player, playing and coaching from the time of kindergarten. He played for Susquehanna University and also for various adult leagues.
He is survived by his father and step mother, Stephen J. and Justine Harkins of Sea Isle City, N.J.; his mother and step father, Judy S. and Tom Marquette of Hughesville; a brother, Sean C. Harkins of Hughesville; a half brother, John Michael Harkins of Levittown; a sister, Nicole S. Harkins, currently serving in the Virginia Army National Guard in Iraq; three half sisters, Marianna Harkins of Levittown, Maureen and Maxine Harkins both of Sea Isle City, N.J.; maternal grandparents, Charles and Virginia Lawver of Hughesville; and maternal great grandmothers, Hilda Lawver and Gladdes Plank both of Gettysburg. His paternal grandparents, Mary and Neil Harkins, predecease him.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville with Pastor Michael Deal of the Agape Fellowship, Williamsport, officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. Friends received at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Stephens name to the East Lycoming Soccer Association (ELSA), 10 Hunter Drive, Muncy, PA 17756.
Thelma I. Miller
Thelma I. Miller, 69, of 100 Mifflin Place, Apartment 208, Mifflinburg died in Williamsport Hospital, Saturday, April 19, 2003.
She was born on Oct. 5, 1933 in Sunbury, a daughter of William and Daisy (Ickes) Craver.
She was a member of the Pine Street United Methodist Church and retired from the Williamsport Hospital.
Thelma is survived by a daughter, Thelma Bartlett, Orlando, Fla.; three sons, Paul Dandois, William Dandois and David Dandois, all of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Patricia A. Wenner, McQuire Air Force Base, N.J.; two brothers, Lee Craver, Mifflinburg and William Craver, Cogan Station; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held in Wildwood Cemetery at 4 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Drue Sherman, pastor of Pine Street United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Crouse Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Van B. Graham
Van B. Graham, 94, of Outlook Pointe Commons from March 8, 1999 to April 15, 2003, and formally of 215 S. 4th St., Mifflinburg for 58 years, died at 2:55 a.m. April 21, 2003, at Rolling Hills Manor where he had been a resident for 6 days.
He was born April 16, 1909, in Clearfield, a son of the late A. Grover Graham and the former Florence Elizabeth Black. On September 22, 1930, he marriage Ruth Catherine Bonney in West Chester.
She preceded him in death, April 24, 2002.
Mr. Graham was a 1927 graduate of Jersey Shore High School. He then graduated from West Chester State Teachers’ College in 1931 with a major in social studies and physical education. Mr. Graham continued school at Penn State University where he obtained his master’s degree in education administration in 1939.
He was employed as a teacher at Mifflinburg High School from 1932 until 1942. During that time he also coached the variety soccer team and junior varsity basketball team.
In 1942, Mr. Graham was employed as a guard at the United States Penitentiary, Lewisburg. He them served two years in the Navy as a petty officer 1st class, and was a physical training instructor at the University of North Carolina until his honorable discharge in 1945. After his military service, Mr. Graham resumed his employment at the penitentiary in Lewisburg as an assistant supervisor of education until he retired in 1969. He continued working at the penitentiary after his retirement as an adult basic education contract instructor until 1973.
Mr. Graham was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Mifflinburg.
He was a member of the Mifflinburg American Legion, Post 410, life long member of the Federal Prison Retiree’s Association and also the Keystone Chapter of the F.P.R.A. He and his wife were directors at the summer playground in Mifflinburg for many years.
He enjoyed turkey hunting and was an avid bass and trout fisherman all of his life.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce B. and Carol S. Graham of Mifflinburg, V. Scott Graham and Dana L. Lockridge of Muncy; one brother John P. Graham of Williamsport; five grandchildren and their spouses, Debra and John Miller, Nick Graham, Leslie and Patrick Forsburg, Karen and Alan Wagner, and Kim and Mario Kuba, one step granddaughter, Ruby Lockridge; 12 great grandchildren, Angela Gramley and her husband Aric, John Miller, Josh Miller, Tyler VonNeida, Brandon Forsburg, Zach Forsburg, Spencer Wagner, Clark Wagner, Cooper Wagner, Maria Kuba, Logan Kuba and Noah Kuba; and one great-great grandson, Ganriel Aric Gramley.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Denise G. VonNeida on June 24, 2001 and one great granddaughter Heidi L. VonNeida on June 27, 2000.
Visitors may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, at the Roupp Funeral Home Inc., East Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Dennis E. Beaver of the First Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg.
Burial will be in Mifflinburg Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Dennie and Heidi Youth Fund of the First Lutheran Church, 404 Market St., Mifflinburg, PA 17844.
Elizabeth C. Kuzio
Elizabeth C. Kuzio, 88, formerly of the 900 block of Mary Street and 405 Russell Ave., died Saturday, April 19, at Manorcare Health Services South. Born Jan. 27, 1915, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of Bernard and Anna L. Ritter Bock.
She had been employed by the former Franklin Hosiery Mill.
She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.
Elizabeth was also a member of the Top of the Hill Club. She enjoyed playing pinochle, bingo and traveling.
Surviving are her son, Carl J. Kuzio; daughter, Janice A. Kuzio, both of Williamsport and grandchildren, Kaci and Alex Kuzio. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Kuzio, who died Dec. 20, 1957; two sisters, Anna Sartori and Hilda M. Prike and three brothers, Edward M., John H. and Bernard Bock.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Boniface Catholic Church, 326 Washington Blvd. on Wednesday, at 1 p.m. Friends may call at the church lounge on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Interment will be in St. Boniface Cemetery.

Genevieve Kackenmeister
Genevieve M. “Jenny” Kackenmeister, 76, formerly of 637 Fifth Ave., died Sunday, April 20, 2003, in Mechanicsburg.
She was born Nov. 27, 1926, in Williamsport, a daughter of Delbert and Edith Bartlow Kahler.
She was a member of the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and the Williamsport Bridge Club. Genevieve enjoyed sewing, knitting, Atlantic City, playing cards and old movies.
She worked as an accouting clerk for Sylvania and also at the Hearthstone Restaurant as a hostess and bookeeper.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Reedy of Mechanicsburg and Susan Griffith of Elizabethtown; a son, Tom Kackenmeister of Duncansville; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband, Paul G. Kackenmeister who died June 20, 2001.
Relatives and friends are invited to Genevieve’s life celebration Friday, April 25, 2003, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the James C. Maneval Funeral Home, Ltd., “A Life Celebration Home,” 500 W. Fourth St. and 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 142 Market St. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Kenneth R. Elkin officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hughesville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Disease Association, 71 N. Franklin St., Kirby Health Center, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18701.
Gloria E. Guthrie
Gloria E. Guthrie, 61, of Memorial Avenue, died Sunday, April 20, 2003, at the Williamsport Hospital.
She was born in Jersey Shore, Dec. 28, 1941, a daughter of the late Stanley Guthrie and Nellie Guthrie McClure.
Gloria had worked at Wundies as a seamstress and a packer. She had also worked in the kitchen at Williamsport Hospital.
Surviving in addition to her mother are a daughter, Desiree Goodwin of Boston, Mass.; sons, Archie Goodwin of Norfolk, Va. and Daniel Goodwin of Philadelphia; one grandson; brothers, Ronald Guthrie of city, Eugene of Farrensville, Robert of Bloomsburg, Hal McClure of Carlisle and Thomas McClure of Oak Orchard, Del.; half brothers, Steve Guthrie of Fla. and Tony Guthrie of city; and half sisters, Pam and Claudia, both of this city.
The funeral and burial will be private. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St. The family will provide the flowers.
