Elsie A. Gray, 74, of Morris, died at the Green Home, Wellsboro, June 11, 2002.
She was born in Henderson, TN on July 3, 1927, the daughter of Brody and Ruby Massingil Connor.
She was a homemaker.
She was an avid reader, loved to knit and enjoyed quilting.
She is survived by a son, Jerry Hopper of TN; two daughters, Marietta Zarr and Joyce Hopper, both of Williamsport; three sisters, Pauline Daily, Lorine Renko and Exie Pusser, all of TN; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Harvey Gray and two brothers, Vodie and James Connor.
Friends may call at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., on Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
Burial will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park.
James W. Ewing
James W. Ewing, 73, of 119 Chadlee Drive, South Williamsport, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002, at home, following a lengthy illness.
He and his wife, the former LaReine M. Sanders, celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on Sept. 14, 2001. He retired in 1992 as a hypnotherapist at the former Hypnology Center after 24 years. Before that, he had been employed by C.A. Reed for 10 years.
James was a lifelong member of All Saints Episcopal Church and enjoyed scouting, crossword puzzles, card playing and fishing. He was a 1947 graduate of Williamsport High School.
Born on Oct. 9, 1928, in Williamsport, he was a son of J. Thomas and Hannah B. Waggoner Ewing.
Surviving, besides his wife, are three sons, David L., Hughesville, Steven W., Lancaster and Douglas E., Canton; two daughters, Diana M., Summerville, SC and Cheryl A. Reynolds, South Williamsport; a brother, Jack C., Midland, NC; a sister, Patricia A. Brower, Show Low, AZ; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, 1656 Scott St., with the Rev. John X. Jobson officiating. Friends may call at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave., from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Following cremation, interment will be at the church.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to the church for the building of the Memorial Garden.
C. Neoska Campbell
C. Neoska Campbell, 88, of King St., Turbotville, died early Thursday, June 13, 2002, at Kramm’s Nursing Home, Watsontown, where she had resided since April.
Her husband, Thomas E. Campbell, whom she marriage in 1950, died Feb. 7, 1977.
Mrs. Campbell was a 1932 graduate of Turbotville High School and graduated from Bucknell University in 1939, where she majored in mathematics and English.
A teacher for 30 years, she began teaching at the former McEwensville School, then the former North Mont School in Turbotville and retired in 1978 from the Warrior Run School District, where she taught math.
After her retirement, she operated Fuller’s Store, Turbotville, which was a grocery store owned by her family for 100 years.
She was a life member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, Turbotville, having been a Sunday School teacher and choir member for several years.
She was a board member of the Northumberland County Chapter of the American Cancer Society for 35 years, a member of the State and National Retired Teachers Organizations, the Fort Freeland Heritage Society and a charter member of the Turbotville Civic Club. She was on the board of directors of the Turbotville Community Hall Corporation and received the Citizen of the Year Award in 1996.
Earlier in her life, she sang in several choirs directed by Alfred Fryer and the former Turbotville Community Chorus.
Born in Turbotville March 27, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Ralph W.E. and Dema F. (Shade) Fuller.
Surviving are an aunt, Lucy Shade, of Berwick; several cousins, including Marian Salaris, Baltimore, MD, Betty West, Montoursville and Olive Weidenhamer, Phelps, NY; and nieces and nephews, including Thomas Shade, Berwick and Debra West, Montoursville.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, June 16, at 2 p.m. at St. James Lutheran Church, Turbotville, with the Rev. Charla M. Grieves, her pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Turbotville Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday.
The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions in her memory be made to the church.
John T. Holt
John T. "Tom" Holt, 79, of 1540 Kaiser Ave., South Williamsport, died Thursday, June 13, 2002, in the Williamsport Hospital. Born Dec. 8, 1922, in Williamsport, he was a son of Charles F. and Carrie May Lovelace Holt.
Tom was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Williamsport Assembly of God Church. He retired in 1986 from Centre Concrete and then retired again from Ryder Trucks.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, the former Phyllis J. Englert; a son, Thomas W. of city; two daughters, Debra J. Burns of South Williamsport and Cindy L. Buss of Hughesville; two brothers, Lawrence L. and William A., both of city; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Tom was preceded in death by sisters Mary Holt, Bernadine Wacker and Jane Stiber, and by a brother, James.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday from his church, corner of Sherman and Sheridan Streets, with his pastor, the Rev. Craig A. Schaefer, officiating. Burial with military honors by the Korean War Veterans will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 a.m. till time of service Tuesday.

Albert R. Henderson
Albert R. "Skeeter" Henderson went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 12, 2002.
Skeeter was born on March 29, 1947, in Williamsport, the son of Albert Henderson and Jayne Baer Henderson. He attended Williamsport schools and graduated from Williamsport High School in 1965, where he played basketball and excelled in football. He won the prestigious Ernie Smith award as the outstanding player on the football team and was selected to the All Central Penn Conference Team and All State Team as a running back. He was a lifelong avid sports fan.
After graduating from high school, Skeeter served in the U.S. Air Force for four years during the Vietnam War era in various locations including Myrtle Beach, SC and Korea. Following honorable discharge from the Air Force, he attended Cheyney State University and graduated with a bachelors degree in sociology in 1973. He returned to Williamsport and was employed at Bethlehem Steel Wire Rope for a number of years and worked in various other capacities.
Skeeter is survived by his father; a sister, Sandra (Michael) Payton of Thornton; a brother, David Louis Henderson of Williamsport; a daughter, Joy Smith of Philadelphia; a grandson; three nephews, Michael Payton, David Henderson and Sean Henderson; and a niece, Stephanie Payton.
He was preceded in death by his mother and a sister-in-law, Vanessa Hunter Henderson.
A viewing will be held on Monday, June 17, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Pine Street United Methodist Church, 441 Pine St., Williamsport. The funeral will be held immediately following the viewing. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Allen-Redmond Funeral Home.
The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Lycoming North Central Unit, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
Charlotte Gauger
Charlotte Gauger, 89, formerly of Watsontown for many years, died Friday June 14, 2002, at RiverWoods, Lewisburg.
She was born in Milton on Feb. 1, 1913, the eldest of nine children of the late Irvin and Hazel Becher Pardoe. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Albert R. "Govy" Gauger.
Charlotte was an active member of the Watsontown United Methodist Church.
She was also an active member of the Order of Eastern Star of Watsontown, where she was Worthy Matron in 1949 and 1950.
She enjoyed playing cards and was a member of several card clubs.
She was also a member of the Watsontown Guild.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Wayne Lynch of Union, S.C.; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Thomas of Sacramento, Calif., Robert of Montgomery and death by four brothers, Hollis, Donald, William and Fred Pardoe, and one sister, Isabel, who died in infancy.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Cronrath Funeral Home, Inc., 308 Main St., Watsontown, where the Order of the Easter Star will conduct a service at 8 p.m. The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Watsontown Cemetery.
