MIFFLINTOWN - Winifred S. Abram, 97, of Mifflintown, formerly of Hastings, died at 12:18 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 1999, at Brookline Manor, Mifflintown RR1.
Born Sept. 30, 1901, in Punxsutawney, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Culbertson and Rhoda (Powell) Stewart. Her husband, James Wesley Abram, died Nov. 29, 1981.
Surviving are: sons, James S. Abram, Mifflintown, Rev. H. Emerson Abram, Riverwoods, Lewisburg, and John L. Abram, Mifflintown RR5; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was first employed as a payroll clerk by Pennsylvania Coal and Coke, Hastings. She then served as the postmaster of the Hastings Post Office and retired as the librarian of the Hastings Public Library.
She was a member of the Hastings United Methodist Church for 72 years, where she was active as a bible student and Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women until 1985, the Ebensburg Order of the Eastern Star, and an associate member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Mifflintown.
She enjoyed reading, crocheting, ceramics and community activities.
Services will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Guss Funeral Home, 20 E. Third St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. H. Emerson Abram officiating. Interment and graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Union Cemetery, Hastings.
Friends may call from 7 p.m. until the time of the service Sunday at the funeral home.

ELSMERE, Del. - Clementine "Clemmy" Adams, 70, of Elsmere, Del., died of complications of diabetes on Sunday, Dec. 5, 1999, at St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington, Del.
Born Oct. 31, 1929, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Samuel L. and Ruth L. (Briner) Robinson. Her husband of 48 years, John E. Adams Sr., of Elsmere, Del., survives.
Also surviving are: a son, John E. Adams Jr., Glasgow, Del.; brothers, Samuel R. Robinson, Millsboro, Del., and Harold L. Robinson, Smyrna, Del.; three grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin A. Robinson.
She was a homemaker.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Krienen-Griffith Funeral Home, 1400 Kirkwood Highway, Elsmere, Del. Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, Del.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

LEWISTOWN - Daryle J. "Dolly" Adams, 57, of 811 W. Fourth St., Lewistown, died at 6:50 p.m. Monday, March 29, 1999, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born March 15, 1942, in Hawstone, she was a daughter of the late Clair E. Piper and the late Flo Josephine (Cherry) Piper Miller. Her husband, Dean E. Adams, died Dec. 7, 1996.
Surviving are: children, Mrs. Gary (Joann) Kavala, Alden Gisewhite, and Mrs. Edward (Nanette) Mann, all of Lewistown, Mrs. Larry (Carolyn) Pannebaker, McVeytown, and Mrs. Charles (Beth) Royer, Belleville; brothers, Edward D. Piper, Lewistown, and Calvin H. Piper, Stephens City, Va.; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
Earlier in life, she had been employed at Fisher Electronics, the American Viscose until 1972, and then was a prototype assembler at KB-Aerotech until her retirement in 1991 with 17 years of service. After retiring, she worked as relief Postmaster of the Allensville Post Office and as an electronic assembler at C-Cor and Berg Electronics.
She was a member of the Key to Life Church of God, Lewistown.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Key to Life Church of God, 110 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Scott T. Reiman and the Rev. Roger R. Reece officiating. Interment will be in the Allensville Presbyterian Cemetery.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.

MIFFLINTOWN - James C. "Jim" Adams, 72, Mifflintown RR4, died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, at his home.
Born Aug. 17, 1927, in Fermanagh Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late D. Quincy and Isabel (Kauffman) Adams. His wife, JoAnn (Arbogast) Adams, whom he married Feb. 1, 1948, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Nancy A. Lehman, Manheim and James C. Adams Jr., York; brother and sister, Donald Q. Adams, Port Royal RR2 and Jane A. Leiby, Easton; and four grandchildren.
He was a 1945 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown.
He served from 1945 -1948 in the Merchant Marines.
From 1948-1971, he farmed the Adamsview Dairy Farm, Mifflintown RR4. He then worked for the Pennsylvania Bureau of Weights and Measures, Harrisburg, retiring in 1989 after 17 years of service.
He was a member of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, Mifflintown, the Union Lodge No. 324 F&AM, the Juniata Valley Forest 88 Tall Cedars of Lebanon, the Walker Grange 786 and the Rocky Acres Hunting Camp.
Memorial services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, corner of Third and Lemon streets, Mifflintown, with the Rev. Louise Reynolds officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
There will be no viewing, but family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until the time of the services Wednesday at the church.
Family will provide all funeral flowers, but memorial contributions may be made to: the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 551, Lewistown, PA 17044 or to HOSPICE: The Bridge, 1126 West Fourth St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

BEAVERTOWN - Margaret A. Aigler, 86, of Beavertown, died at 8:58 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2000, at Sunbury Community Hospital after a brief stay at Penn Lutheran Village.
Born May 29, 1913, in McClure, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Stella (Lose) McClellan. Her husband, Shem A. Aigler, whom she married in 1932, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Twila J. Bohr, Hershey, and Wayne E. Aigler, Beavertown; two sisters, Goldie Bratch, Cleveland, Ohio, and Elda Aumiller, Beavertown; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Albertine King, Stella Hetrick, Florence Kelley and Mertie McClellan; and two brothers, John McClellan and Clarence McClellan.
She had been employed by the former Saylor Shirt Factory and the former Beavertown Weaving Mill. She also helped her husband, who owned an operated the former Iron Ore Fruit Farm.
She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Middleburg, the ladies auxiliary of the Rescue Hose Fire Company and the Snyder County Fruit Growers Association.
She enjoyed needlework, quilting and working in the yard.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Beavertown chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, with the Rev. William D. Jones officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 100 E. Main St., Middleburg, PA 17842.
MIFFLINTOWN - Donald E. Alexander, 65, of Mifflintown RR1 (Cuba Mills), died at 3:24 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2000, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital.
Born June 22, 1934, in Milford Township, Juniata County, he was a son of Mary E. Alexander, Mifflintown RR1. His wife, Charlene S. (Shank) Alexander, whom he married, Dec. 19, 1965, survives.
Also surviving are sons, Jeffrey D. Alexander, Mifflintown RR1, and Nathan R. Alexander, Mifflintown, and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Bethany Alexander.
He was a 1952 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown.
He was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was a plant electrician for Guardian Industries, Lewistown, retiring after 18 years of service in 1998.
He was a life member of the Crawford-Brubaker VFW Post 5863 and the American Legion Post 298, both of Mifflintown. He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 126 and the United Steelworkers Union.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with Donald W. Prye officiating. Interment will be in Lost Creek Presbyterian Cemetery, McAlisterville, where the Juniata County Veterans Council will fold and present the flag.
There will be no viewing.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
LEWISTOWN - Richard M. "The Honey Man" Alexander, 65, 1934 Middle Road, Lewistown, died at 3:04 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital.
Born March 19, 1934, in Strodes Mills, he was a son of the late Alvin R. and Dorothy (Whitacre) Alexander. His wife, Shirley (Davis) Alexander, whom he married June 5, 1955, survives.
Also surviving are: children Mrs. Gregory (Sharon) Shirey, Strodes Mills, Mrs. Stephen (Pamela) Heishman, Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Shawn (Julie) Mowery, Northumberland, Joseph Alexander, Milroy, Mrs. Garth (Kim) Ciecierski and Samuel Alexander, both of Lewistown and Timothy Alexander, McVeytown; brother and sister, Russell Alexander, Lewistown and Dorothea "Dee" Powers, Henderson, Nev.; 21 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served from 1951-1957.
He was a self-employed beekeeper, auctioneer, former Pennsylvania apiary inspector and retired from Echo Ultrasound Security.
He was a member of the United Commercial Travelers 591, the Fort Granville Grange, the Rental Property Owners Association, the Brooklyn Hose Co. and the Pennsylvania Beekeepers Association.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Leon R. Clayberger officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, where military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7011.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

MILROY - William R. Alexander, 81, of 34 B Street, Milroy, died at 3:47 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, Lewistown.
Born Sept. 14, 1917, in Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Reed and Carrie (Brown) Alexander. His wife, Margaret E. Alexander, died May 5, 1987.
Surviving are: children, Mrs. Charles (Patsy) Matejka, Aliquippa, William C. Alexander, Marlton, N.J., and David Alexander, Milroy; sisters, Hazel Mae Alexander, Lewistown, and Jane Felker, Yeagertown; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, two brothers, and one sister.
He was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Early in life, he was employed at Standard Steel, Burnham, and later as a welder at New Holland, Belleville.
He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Milroy, and he was also a member of the Milroy American Legion where he served as adjutant.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Main Street, Milroy, with the Rev. Rosalie N. Smith officiating.
There will be no public viewing.
