LEWISTOWN - Dolores J. Bickhart, 70, of 4 Oakland Ave., Lewistown, died at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at her daughter's residence at 200 S. Pine Road, Lewistown. Born March 23, 1930, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Russell R. and Pauline E. (Freed) Snook. Her husband, Lloyd L. Bickhart, whom she married in April 1952, survives. She is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Peter (Sharon) Marsh, 200 S. Pine Road, Lewistown. She was the last of her immediate family. She was a 1948 graduate of Lewistown High School and a 1951 graduate of the Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Lewistown Hospital and later did private nursing duty and home care for the Mifflin-Juniata County Visiting Nurses Association. She retired from Ohesson Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewistown, and a member of the Pennsylvania Registered Nurses Association. She was awarded Nurse of the Year for the Mifflin-Juniata Visiting Nurses Association in the 1980s. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald A. Krum officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown. Memorial contributions may be made to HOSPICE: The Bridge, 1126 W. Fourth St., Lewistown, PA 17044 or to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N. BELLEFONTE - Mary E. Bickhart, 78, of Bellefonte, formerly of Mt. Ranier, Md. and State College, died Thursday, May 17, 2001, at Centre Crest in Bellefonte. Born June 15, 1922, in Potter Township, she was the daughter of the late A. Edgar and Mary C. (Neff) Rimmey. Her husband, Charles W. Bickhart, whom she married Jan. 29, 1952, died March 17, 1968. Surviving are: a sister, Ruth Lansberry, Centre Hall; and brothers, James Rimmey, Mingoville, George N. "Mike" Rimmey, Damascus, Md., A. Edgar Rimmey, Rural Centre Hall, and Donald Rimmey, State College. She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. She graduated from Centre Hall-Potter Township High School in 1939 and the Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. During World War II, from 1943-1945, she served in the Cadet Corps, and served for six months at an Army hospital in Memphis, Tenn. From 1951-1956 and from 1965 until her retirement in 1988, she worked as a registered nurse at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Boalsburg. She especially enjoyed reading, embroidering, and sewing. A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, at St. John's United Church of Christ, Boalsburg, with the Rev. Joseph F. Kraybill officiating. Interment will be in the Reformed and Lutheran Cemetery, Centre Hall, at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received in the fellowship hall of the church immediately following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. John's United Church of Christ, Boalsburg, PA 16827, or to Christ United Methodist Church, Box 188, Julian, PA 16844. The Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, is in charge of arrangements.
DRY RUN - Fred D. "Donnie" Bickle, 69, of Dry Run, formerly of Waterloo, died at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2001, at the Chambersburg Hospital. Born Jan. 29, 1932, in Lack Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Mike and Ruth (Pyles) Wike. His wife, Linda (Kingsboro) Bickle, survives. Also surviving are children, Franklin D. Bickle, East Waterford RR1, Allen C. Slagle, York Haven, Gail J. Palm, HC 67, Mifflin, Brenda S. Frampton, Mifflintown and Ruth Ann Reiter, Port Royal; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Labor Union No. 1180 and the Fannett-Metal Fire Company. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove, with the Rev. John Sample, the Rev. Marlin Neil and Mr. Darwin Goshorn officiating. Interment will be in the East Waterford Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the family being present from 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to: The American Cancer Society, unit of donor's choice.
BELLEVILLE - Charles W. "Chid" Bigelow, 83, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, died at 4:50 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at Valley View Haven. Born May 14, 1917, in Belleville, he was the son of the late David Clay and Beulah Maude (Henninger) Bigelow. His wife, Ruth L. (Steininger) Bigelow, died Jan. 2, 2000. Surviving are: daughters, Mrs. Charles (Linda) Corbin and Mrs. Glenn D. (Ann) Peachey, both of Belleville; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family and was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Herbert Bigelow, Paul Bigelow, David Bigelow, John Bigelow, Donald Bigelow, Glenn Bigelow, Ruth Koons, and Athalia Bubb; one grandchild and one great-grandchild He was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He retired in 1979 as a general construction superintendent and mason for JM Young & Sons, Belleville. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Belleville, the Stroup-Alexander VFW Post 5935, Belleville, the Greenlee Hunting Camp, and a former member of the McVeytown Lodge 376 F & AM. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. John Lutheran Church, Belleville, with the Rev. Lois Martin officiating. Interment will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Belleville, where military rites will be performed by the Stroup Alexander VFW Post No. 5935. Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of the service Sunday at the church. The Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, 3813 W. Main St., Belleville, is in charge of arrangements.
LEWISTOWN - E. Madalene "Madge" Blair, 89, a resident of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, Lewistown, formerly of 127 N. Mann Ave., Yeagertown, died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2001, at the nursing home. Born March 23, 1911, in Yeagertown, she was a daughter of the late Samuel F. and Flora (Kinzer) Frank. Her husband, Franklin A. Blair, died July 21, 1977. She is survived by a son, F. Arthur Blair, 229 W. Locust St., Mechanicsburg, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family and was preceded in death by a daughter, Elsie Romig. Early in life, she had worked at Gibbony Woolen Mills as a reeler, at the Arrow Shirt Factory, at the American Viscose Corporation and for 14 years as a sales representative for Blair Products. She was a member of the Holy Communion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Yeagertown, the Lutheran Church Women, and the Rose Circle Sunday School Class. She was also a charter member of the ladies auxiliary of the Yeagertown Fire Company, a den mother for Cub Scouts, and was active in Girl Scouting, having started the first senior troop of Yeagertown. She was a member and pole watcher for the Republican Women. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Communion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Yeagertown, with the Rev. Philip C. Tundel officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham. BEAVERTOWN - Serenity Anne Blessing, a newborn, died at 2:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26, 2001 at Lewistown Hospital. She was a daughter of Lewis E. Blessing and Tiffany L. Hetrick of 118 Market St., Beavertown. Also surviving are: brothers and sisters, Destiny J. Hetrick, Justice E. Blessing, Harmony S. Blessing, Fancy M. Blessing and Malachi J. Blessing, all at home; a step-brother, Corey L. Blessing, Terrace Boulevard, Lewistown; a paternal grandfather, Harry S. Blessing III, 59 Scenic Drive, Lewistown, maternal grandparents, Russell Blessing and Jennifer Herrington, 525 Valley St., Lewistown, and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hetrick, Middletown, and a paternal great-grandmother, Esther Estella Blessing, 59 High St., Lewistown. Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown, with the Rev. Dale Hippensteel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the maternity unit at Lewistown Hospital, 400 Highland Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044. Paisley,FL - Sara K. Blewett, 83, of 27716 Kathryn Circle, Paisley, FL, and formerly of 10 Limestone Drive, Lewistown, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2001, in DeLand, FL. Born Feb. 21, 1918, in Mifflin Co., she was the daughter of the late George E. and Emma Jane (Showers) Yetter. Her husband, Edward T. Blewett, survives. Also surviving are: children, Thomas E. Blewett, Lewistown, Ronald Yetter, Lewistown, Ann Hetrich, Lewistown, and Carol Hartman, Lewistown; a sister, Ruth Brannon, Lewistown; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Thomas Marickovic officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. YEAGERTOWN - Betty L. Bloom, 75, of 95 Pinewood Road, Yeagertown, died at 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at her residence. Born Feb. 15, 1926, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Sara (Lenhart) Austin Sr. Her husband, Lynn H. Bloom, preceded her in death in 1989. Surviving are: children, Mrs. Gerald (Dianne) Kochenderfer and Carol DeCosi, both of Yeagertown; a brother, William E. Austin Jr. of McVeytown; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Robert A. Bloom. She was a seamstress at Puritan Sportswear, Altoona, and was self-employed as a seamstress. She was also a homemaker. She attended Grace United Methodist Church, Lewistown, and was an avid gardener. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dale Hippensteel officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends from noon Friday until the time of the service in the parlor of the church. The Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
