THOMPSONTOWN - Blair Stanley Blystone, 65, of Oakhurst Mobile Home Park, Lot 12L, Thompsontown, died at 5:15 a.m. Sunday, May 6, 2001, at his home. Born April 29, 1936, in Port Royal, he was the son of the late Harvey Oscar and Isabelle (Elliot) Blystone. He is survived by a daughter, Peggy Ann Lynch, Belleville; two sisters, Mary Page, Harrisburg and Mrs. Edward (Charlotte) Brown, Cleveland, Ohio; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry O. Blystone and Haven Blystone Sr. He was a peacetime veteran, having served in the United States Navy. He was a retired truck driver. There will be no funeral services or viewing, according to his wishes and interment will be at the convenience of the family. Family will receive friends 2-8 p.m. Sunday, May 13 at his home in Thompsontown. The Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, is in charge of arrangements.
BEAVERTOWN - Alexander Peter Charles Bogush, 21, of Beavertown, passed away at 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, as a result of a ATV accident. Born May 26, 1980, in Tucson, AZ, he was a son of Donna S. (Phaegan) Bogush, RR1 Beavertown, and Michael P. Bogush, Mt. Caramel. A gathering of Alex's family and friends will be held from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Wenesday at Aurand Funeral Homes, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown. A service of rememberance will be held at 8 p.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donald Wise officiating.
CENTRE HALL - James C. "Simmy" Bonson, 76, of Centre Hall, died Wednesday, July 18, 2001, at Centre Community Hospital, State College. Born Aug. 17, 1924, in Rural Aaronsburg, he was the son of the late J. Clinton and Martha Mary Jane (Boyer) Bonson. Surviving are: stepchildren, Debbie Winters of North Carolina and Terry L. Wagner of Rural Centre Hall; sisters, Barbara E. Bubb, Rural Centre Hall and Margaret E. Condo, Rural Spring Mills; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Martha Diane Derr and Cathy Bonson; and two brothers, William and Lester Bonson. He farmed for many years and worked as a custodian at Centre Hall-Potter Township Elementary School. Later, he worked at the Centre Hall Farm Store, Centre Hall. He was an excellent square dance caller and had formed a square dance band. He was an avid baseball fan, who also enjoyed hunting and family reunions. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, with the Rev. George Burn officiating. Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery, Milroy. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. RURAL CENTRE HALL - Alice R. Boob, 87, of Rural Centre Hall, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, at home. Born Jan. 19, 1913, in Oak Hall, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Catherine Elizabeth (Coble) Page. Her husband, Wayne Boob, died in 1980. She is survived by: children, Stella Wyland of Potters Mills, Margaret Elsie Decker of Rural Centre Hall, Gilbert Boob of Millheim, Clarence "Frank" Boob and Luther Boob, both of State College, Charles Boob and Donald "Bill" Boob, both at home; 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Haines, a son, Harry E. "Mic" Boob, and two grandchildren. She had been employed at Murata Erie, State College and at the Imperial Hotel, State College. She was a member of Calvary Bible Church, Centre Hall and the Centre Hall Senior Citizens. She especially enjoyed doing crafts and fishing. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, with the Rev. Allan Glass officiating. Interment will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Lutheran and Reformed Cemetery, Tusseyville. PORT ROYAL - Madelon S. Book, 87, of Port Royal RR3, died at 6 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at her home. Born July 31, 1913, in Spruce Hill Township, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late Mark L. and Mabel (Esh) Stitt. Her husband, Harold H. "Brother" Book, died June 20, 1983. Surviving are: children, Harold S. "Sonny" Book, Mark H. Book and Mrs. Robert (Diane) Ditmer, all of Port Royal RR3, Mrs. Paul (Joyce) Eckhart, Bethel, and Mrs. William (Verna) Gilliland, Port Royal RR2; a sister, Katherine Sausser, Camp Hill; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen J. Smith on April 9, 1977 and by two sisters, Mildred Ruhl and Maxine Silver. She was a 1932 graduate of Port Royal High School. She was a member of the Port Royal United Presbyterian Church and a member for more than 75 years of the Turbett Grange No. 781. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with Pastor Terry G. Smith officiating. Interment will be in the New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal. EAST WATERFORD - Gertrude E. Boone, 78, of East Waterford, died at 10:54 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital. Born Sept. 28, 1922 in Lack Township, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late William and Mildred (Burdge) Yohn. Her husband, Warren H. Boone, died April 23, 1990. Surviving are: children, Warren Boone Jr., East Waterford, Mildred "Sis" Imes, Port Royal RR2 and Kathryn "Kathy" Rosenberry, Dry Run; brothers and sisters, Jay C. Yohn and Clair L. Yohn, East Waterford RR1, Adrean Yohn, Neelyton, June Woodal, Needmore, Helena Neibert, Waynesboro and Shirley Longacre, Port Royal; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, William Boone. She was a retired seamstress at the former East Waterford Textile Factory. She was a member of the East Waterford United Methodist Church, the East Waterford Senior Citizens Center, the East Waterford Fire Co., the East Waterford Ambulance Division and Ladies Auxiliary and the Lack-Tuscarora EMS. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the East Waterford United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Don Walters and the Rev. Dennis R. Thompson Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the East Waterford Cemetery. Friends may call noon - 9 p.m. Thursday at the Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove, where the family will be present from 7 - 9 p.m. and also 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. LEWISTOWN - Phyllis J. Boop, 66, of 5 Harding Ave., Lewistown, died at 4:23 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Ohesson Manor Nursing Center. Born Nov. 13, 1934, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Pauline (Pennepacker) Logan Sr. Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Spade, McAlisterville and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Penny Miller in 1992, and was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Logan Jr. She worked for the Lewistown Hospital Lewis Line. She was a member of the Holy Communion Lutheran Church, Yeagertown, as well as the Aid Association for Lutherans, the Naughty Ladies for the church and the Ladies of the Moose Lodge No. 143. Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Philip C. Tundel officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy. MOUNT UNION - Lorma Geraldine Boozel, 66, of Lucy Furnace Road, Mount Union, died at 3:36 a.m. Monday, April, 23, 2001, at her home. Born May l9, 1934, in Blacklog Valley, Lack Township, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late William and Myrtle (Kelly) Krause. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Cloyd I. Hoffman, and her second husband, Theodore E. Boozel, whom she married Oct. 21, 1977, survives. Also surviving are: three children, Boyd Hoffman and Brian Hoffman, both of Orbisonia, and Carol Weaver, Mount Union; three stepsons, Theodore Boozel, Robert Boozel, and Dennis Boozel, all of Mount Union; two brothers and four sisters, Richard Krause and Boyd Krause, both of Orbisonia, Irene Glunt and Vielda Seibert, both of Shade Gap, Ruth Parsons and Dorothy Hoffman, both of Neelyton; six grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and 14 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Cloyd and three sisters, Evelyn Laidig, Helen Holden, and Olive Krause. She was a member of the Orbisonia Church of the Nazarene. She was last employed at the Harbison-Walker Refractories, Mount Union. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with the Rev. Richard Vandervort and the Rev. Darrell Nicklow officiating. Interment will be made in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
