MCVEYTOWN - Thelma I. Crosson, 70, of 38 Sheaffer Drive, McVeytown, died at 10:25 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2001, at the Lewistown Hospital. Born April 3, 1931, in Granville Township, she was the daughter of the late Wesley M. and Agnes (Cavanaugh) Donahey. Her husband, Thurman R. Crosson, died Jan. 27, 2000. Surviving are: children, Larry L. Crosson, Pine Drive, Lewistown, Thomas A. Crosson, Kansas Road, McVeytown and Terry V. Crosson, Lewistown; sisters, Mrs. Clarence (Ethel) Goss and Mrs. W. Ray (Betty) Dunmire, both of Lewistown; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was a 1948 graduate of Lewistown High School. Early in life, she worked as a clerk at McCrory's Department Store, Lewistown, then as a secretary at Montgomery Wards Store, Lewistown. She was last employed in the deli of the Giant Food Store, Burnham. She was a member of the Strodes Mills Baptist Church, where she was an organist for 55 years. She was a former member of the Fort Granville Grange. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Strode's Mills Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jonathan C. God officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. LEWISTOWN - Frederick P. Crotty, 78, of 917 E. Walnut St., Lewistown, died at 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at the Brookline Manor Nursing Home, Mifflintown RR1. Born March 17, 1923, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Frederick P. and Anna M. (Smith) Crotty. His wife, Rosella J. (Mann) Crotty, whom he married April 25, 1947, survives. He is also survived by children, Frederick C. Crotty, Middletown, Mrs. Robert (Brenda) Harris, 606 Chris Ave., Lewistown, and Edward A. Crotty, 821 Dry Valley Road, Lewistown; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family. He was employed in Machine Shop I at Standard Steel, Burnham for 46 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Juniata Memorial Park, with Father Lawrence R. Coakley officiating. There will be no viewing. REEDSVILLE - Ruth E. Crow, 91, of 4309 US Highway 322, Reedsville, died at 7:35 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, Lewistown. Born Aug. 4, 1910, in Clintondale, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Leah Anna Catherine (Dorman) Waltz. Her husband, Charles Lee Crow, died Aug. 18, 1996. Surviving are: brother-in-law, Clarence Crow and sister-in-law, Geneva Crow, both of Lewisburg; nieces and nephews, Ruth Haagan and Carl Waltz, both of Nittany, Lloyd Waltz, Pleasant Gap, Robert Waltz, Mill Hall, Marian Dimenna, Philadelphia, Donna Slear, Lewisburg and Edward Crow, Thurmont, MD. She was preceded in death by a brother, John A. Waltz. She was a graduate of Clintondale Elementary, Lock Haven High School, and Lock Haven State Teachers College. She also attended Penn State University. She was a teacher at Clintondale Elementary and later at Burnham Elementary School. She was a member of Reedsville Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Builders Sunday School Class, Lewistown Hospital Auxiliary, and the Pennsylvania and Mifflin Association of School Retirees. She enjoyed crafts, flowers, and church activities. Her service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Reedsville Evangelical Lutheran Church, 200 E. Logan St., Reedsville, with the Rev. Kenneth Longfield officiating. Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville. Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the church. CENTRE HALL - Ira W. "Pap" Crozier, 80, of South Pennsylvania Avenue, Centre Hall died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at his residence. Born May 15, 1921, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Edgar B. and Ella Mae Crozier. His first wife, Carrie M. (Harshbarger) Crozier, whom he married in 1946, preceded him in death. His second wife, Rose Presto Sweitzer Crozier, whom he married in 1962, survives, residing on South Pennsylvania Avenue, Centre Hall. Also surviving are: children, James Crozier, McVeytown and Ronald Sweitzer, Centre Hall; a sister, Sara Filson, Reedsville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. He was a 1940 graduate of Derry Township High School. He was a United States Navy veteran, having served from 1943 to 1946 in Williamsburg, VA and also in the North and South Pacific with the 36th Special Construction Battalion. He received the Pacific Theatre ribbon, the American Theatre ribbon, the Victory Medal with one Bronze Star, and he was also awarded a Purple Heart. He retired from Cerro Metal in 1986 after 44 years working in the tool and dye division. From 1954 to 1962, he owned and operated Crozier's Sporting Goods Store in Centre Hall. He also drove school bus for Miller-Reese Bus Company and worked for the Food and Fuel Bank, Centre Hall. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Centre Hall, where he served on the church council and volunteered as a Luther League youth advisor. He served on the Centre Hall Borough Council and was Constable of Centre Hall from 1966 to 1970. He was a fire policeman from 1962 to 1975 and was a life member of the following organizations: the Undine Fire Company, the Central District Volunteer Firemen's Association, the Highland Park Fire Company, the VFW No. 1600, Bellefonte, Moose Lodge No. 208, Bellefonte, the Old Fort American Legion Club No. 779, Centre Hall, the Order of the Owls Nest No. 1185, Lewistown and the Old Timers Club of the Titan. He was recognized as a 12-gallon-plus blood donor to the American Red Cross and also taught EMT and CPR classes. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling with the church league and attending the sporting events of his grandchildren. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Centre Hall, with the Rev. R. L. Sauerwein officiating. Interment will be in the Lutheran Reformed Cemetery, Centre Hall. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral Home, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall. ORBISONIA - Virginia Crum, 91, of Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia, and formerly of Alexandria died at 7:40 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, 2001, at Woodland Retirement Center. Born Dec. 11, 1910, in McAlevy's Fort, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Milton and Nannie Mae (Strunk) Wilson. Her husband, Warren Clair Crum, whom she married Sept. 13, 1932, preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 1992. Surviving are: children, Norman P. Crum, Harrisonville, Marlene B. Moore, Huntingdon, Mrs. Richard (Yvonne) McMahon, RD3 Huntingdon, and Sheldon D. Crum, Little Mountain, SC; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a son, Warren Ray Crum, and a grandson. She was the last of her family having been preceded in death by a sister, Madeline Miller, and brothers, J. Edward Wilson, F. Taylor Wilson and Wallace Wilson. She was a homemaker and a member of Church of the Nazarene, Petersburg. Her funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, 3813 W. Main St., Belleville, with Pastors Robert G. Maurer and David E. Bowen officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephens Lutheran Cemetery, McAlevy's Fort. YEAGERTOWN - Florence Cleora Cunningham, 79, of 106 N. Main St., Yeagertown, formerly of Alfarata, died at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at her home. Born Jan. 31, 1921, in West Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late John Franklin and Myrtle (Roberts) Brocious. Her husband, Walter L. Cunningham, died Dec. 26, 1977. Surviving are: children, John F. Cunningham, 14 Kings Arms at Waterford, York, Mrs. H. Dennis (Colleen) Treaster, 307 Fourth Ave., Burnham, Mrs. William (Jane) Ross, 424 Dry Valley Road, Burnham, Mrs. David (Jean) Sutton, 621 Harvard St., Lewistown, and Mrs. Ralph (Debi) VanArt, 62 Old Stage Coach Road, Lewistown; brother and sister, Audrey Stubblebine, West Nanticoke and Dean Brocious, Berwick; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers. She was a graduate of Darlington Seminary, West Chester. She was employed by Arrow Division of Cluett-Peabody & Co., Lewistown; Fisher Electronics; Frieden Inc.; and PennDOT. She was Methodist by faith. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grace United Methodist Church, 101 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Dale Hippensteel and Pastor Douglas Sabin officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family in Birch Hill Cemetery, Burnham. There will be no viewing, but family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the church. LEWISTOWN - Robert J. Cunningham Jr., 65, of 299 Nolan Drive, Lewistown, died at 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn. Born May 6, 1935, in Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Robert J. Sr. and Anna B. (Eby) Cunningham. His wife, Shelby J. Cunningham, died July 31, 1991. He is survived by children, Edna A. Cunningham, 299 Nolan Drive, Lewistown and Mrs. Scott (Lorrie L.) Stuck, 134 Brannon Lane, Lewistown; five grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was the last of his immediate family and was preceded in death by a son, Robert W. Cunningham Sr. on Dec. 6, 1995. He was employed as an inspector in the metallurgist shop at Standard Steel, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Ellen Chapel Church. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Ellen Chapel Church, Ferguson Valley Road, Lewistown, with the Rev. J. Faust Hissong and Margaret Patterson officiating. LEWISTOWN - Frank O. Cupper, 80, of 9234 US Highway 522 South, Lewistown, died at 4:13 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, at his residence. Born Jan. 14, 1921, in Lewistown (Hawstone), he was the son of the late Amos E. and Edna (Bailor) Cupper. His wife, Freda (Adams) Cupper, preceded him in death in 1992. Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Herbert (Susan) Hannon, Lewistown; sister and brothers, Alice Deeb, Apopka, FL, Homer B. Cupper Sr., Levitown and Ralph C. Cupper, Hudson, OH; one grandson, one granddaughter and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry W. Cupper, and a sister, Mildred Bishop. He was a mill operator at Standard Steel, Burnham, for 21 years before retiring in 1976 due to a disability. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army's 8th Air Corps European Theatre, and a member of VFW Post 7011, Lewistown. His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Heller-Hoenstime Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Darrell Wireman officiating.
