Guy W. Deamer
MCCLURE - Guy W. Deamer, 80, of McClure RR2, died at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was born Feb. 21, 1921, in McClure RR2. His wife, Goldie I. (Goss) Deamer, whom he married April 18, 1942, died Oct. 9, 1998. Surviving are two sons, Kerry L. Deamer of Germantown, Md. and Alan R. Deamer of Ellicott City, Md.; two sisters, Grace Haywood of Lewistown and Violet Vogel of Bethany Beach, Del.; a brother, Lewis Deamer of Dearborn, Mich.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey L. Deamer in 1995 and two brothers, Rodney and John Deamer. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II. He was employed by Bethlehem Steel, Sparrows Point, Md., retiring after 38 years in 1977, as a machine shop supervisor. He was a member of St. John's Ridge Church, McClure RR2. He was well known for his involvement in the Republican Party, serving as a councilman for many years. He enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting, playing cards, gardening and landscaping. He also had a special interest in Civil War history. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Johns Ridge Church, McClure RR2, with the Rev. Robert G. Kidd officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701. Aurand Funeral Homes, McClure, is in charge of arrangements.

W. Reber Deamer
HUNTINGDON - W. Reber Deamer, 93, of Westminster Woods Nursing Home, Huntingdon, formerly of Lewistown RR3, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born July 29, 1907, in Burnham, he was a son of the late Walter S. and Neta R. (Reber) Deamer. His wife, Elizabeth V. (Snedden) Deamer, died May 11, 1993. Surviving are: children, Mrs. Keith (Bette) Stroup, 2520 Blair Ave., Huntingdon, W. Alen Deamer, York, and Mrs. Franklin (Rhea) Winterberg, Ocean Side, Calif.; sister and brothers, Eva Boczkowski, Wyomissing, Robert Deamer, Puerto Rico and Gene Deamer Lane, Belleville; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. He worked in the Forge Shop of Standard Steel, Burnham. He was a member of the Paintersville CMA Church. Funeral service and committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. George H. Mark officiating. Interment will be at Juniata Memorial Park. Friends may call from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Westminster Woods Nursing Home, Westminster Drive, Huntingdon, PA 16652 or to the Paintersville CMA Church, 3195 Back Maitland Road, Lewistown, PA 17044.

Clyde W. DeArment
LEWISTOWN - Clyde W. DeArment, 76, of 539 Fairview Ave., Lewistown, died at 8:23 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, Lewistown. Born Jan. 13, 1925, in Snyder County, he was the son of the late James W. and Myrtle (Heiser) DeArment. His wife, Lee Ellen (Hopkins) DeArment, whom he married on Aug. 24, 1946, survives. Also surviving are: children, Clyde W. DeArment Jr., Mechanicsburg and Mrs. Dale (Gwen) C. Kemmerick, Deluth, GA; sisters, Marcella Williamson, Chambersburg and Norma Robey and Wanda DeArment, both of Mansfield, Ohio; four grandchildren and one great-grandson. He owned and operated Central Novelty Craft Shop for 13 years, retiring in 1988. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II, and attended the First Baptist Church, Lewistown. Funeral services will be private, with interment in Lind Memorial Cemetery. Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is handling arrangements.

Donald E. DeArment
LEWISTOWN - Donald E. DeArment, 83, of 312 Terrace Boulevard, Lewistown, died at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born July 16, 1917, in Burnham, he was the son of the late Charles and Anna DeArment. His wife, Margaret (Espigh) DeArment, whom he married in 1940, survives. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the last of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. He had been employed by Standard Steel; worked as a guard at Sitkins junk yard and the American Viscose; and worked as a runner at the Auction Barn, Reedsville. He was a life member of Burnham Fire Company and a member of the Newtown Fire Company. He played basketball for the American Viscose and managed softball teams in the Burnham area. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Thomas Morningstar officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Rebecca Ann Hubler Decker
PORT ROYAL - Rebecca Ann Hubler Decker, 28, of 303 E. Fourth St., Port Royal, formerly of Olean, NY, died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, at her home in Port Royal, from an extended illness. Born Jan. 16, 1973, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of James M. Jr. and Mary P. (Fluke) Hubler of 303 E. Fourth St., Port Royal. Her husband, Brian James Decker of Olean, NY, whom she married Dec. 4, 1999, survives. Also surviving are: a brother, Michael S. Hubler, Harrisburg; paternal grandmothers, Lois Hubler, Port Royal and Annette Beasom, Delray Beach, Fla.; and maternal grandmother, Adaline Fluke, Lewistown. She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Jo "Tutu" Felmlee on July 30, 1997. She was a 1991 graduate of Juniata High School, Mifflintown and a 1996 graduate of Gannon University, Erie. She worked as a medical case manager at QRS Manage Care Services, Pittsburgh. She was the cheerleading coach for Edinboro University, Edinboro and the director of the Penn State Behren Dance Team. She was also a former NFL cheerleader for the Buffalo Bills football team in 1996 and 1997 and was named rookie of the year in 1996 and veteran of the year in 1997. She was a member of the Port Royal Presbyterian Church, Port Royal. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Rex Funeral Home, 308 Market St., Port Royal, with the Rev. Frank J. Swartz officiating. Interment will be in Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal. A closed casket visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Ruth E. Decker
REEDSVILLE - Ruth E. Decker, 77, formerly of Gardenview, Reedsville, died at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, 2001, at Ohesson Manor, Lewistown. Born Dec. 1, 1923, in Ferguson Valley, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Wilbur and Blanche (Rhodes) Swigart. Her husband, Robert Merle Decker, preceded her in death on May 12, 1993. Surviving are: brothers and sister, Mary Anderson and John Swigart, both of McVeytown, and Fred Swigart of McClure. She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lee Decker, on May 12, 1966, and by brothers and sisters, W. Harold Swigart, George M. Swigart, Martha Swigart and Catherine Swigart. She worked earlier at Montgomery Wards and then as an operator at Bell Telephone. She was a graduate of McVeytown-Oliver High School. She was a member of Reedsville United Methodist Church and a Sunday school teacher for many years. She volunteered at Ohesson Manor for 15 years and enjoyed crafts and volunteer work. Her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with the Rev. Richard J. Bender officiating. Interment will be in Spring Run Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Friend may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Ohesson Manor, 276 Green Ave. Ext., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Elsie J. DeCooman
LEWISTOWN - Elsie J. DeCooman, 89, of 196 S. Main St., Lewistown, died at 5 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn. Born Feb. 9, 1911, in Sandy Run, Bedford County, she was a daughter of the late Louis J. and Elvera J. (Reinard) DeCooman. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family and was preceded in death by a son, Glenn W. Harshbarger on May 5, 1982; two brothers and two sisters. She retired from the beaming department of the American Viscose Corporation in 1970 with 24 years of service. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lewistown and a life member of the Lewistown Hospital Auxiliary and the ladies auxiliary of the City, Hook and Ladder Fire Company. She was also a member of the Pensioneers Club, the Avisco 25 Year Club, the Senior Citizens Club, the Women of the Moose, the Golden Age Club, and the A.C.T.W.U. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with Karen McCachren officiating. Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Marcella Ganoe Center, 401 Yale St., Lewistown, PA 17044 or to the Arthritis Foundation, PO Box 668, Camp Hill, PA 17001-0668.

Sara D. Deen
PORT ROYAL - Sara D. Deen, 87, of RR1 Port Royal died at 4:20 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Sept. 12, 1913, in Adams County, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Phoebe R. (Fissel) Dentler. Her husband, William C. "Bill" Deen, preceded her in death on June 14, 1993. Surviving are: daughters Mrs. Jerry (Kathryn) Ryan, Harrisburg, and Roma Deen Barry, Mechanicsburg; brother Dale H. Dentler; sisters, Ruth H. Meminger and Edith P. Stouffer, all of Mechanicsburg, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, W. Richard "Dick" Deen on May 27, 1992, and infant son William George Deen. She was an accomplished seamstress and artist, and won various awards for sewing at the Pennsylvania Farm Show. She was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, chairperson of the church Administrative Council, and a former Sunday School teacher. She was a member of Spruce Hill Grange # 772, Pomona Grange # 32, State Grange, and Mifflin Chapter #260 Order of Eastern Star. Her funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with the Rev. Barbara A. Inch and the Rev. Larry Dentler officiating. Interment will be in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, where Eastern Star services will be held at 8:45 p.m. on Saturday. Memorial donations may be made to the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, C/O Mrs. Wendy Imes, Tres., HC 67 Box 69, Mifflin, PA 17058.
