REEDSVILLE - Alleane L. Dill, 75, a resident of Outlook Pointe at Lewistown, 55 Carriage House Lane, Reedsville, formerly of 115 Sunset Drive, Burnham, died at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Outlook Pointe. Born Oct. 19, 1925, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late William Dewey and Martha E. (Swain) Baumgardner. Her husband, Samuel W. Dill, died Jan. 10, 1994. Surviving are: children, Mrs. Jerry (Louise) Gramley, 7608 Route 655, Reedsville, Samuel W. Dill Jr., Enola, and John W. Dill, 646 Dry Valley Road, Lewistown; adopted brother, Dewey Baumgardner, Riverside Drive, Lewistown; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant brother and a sister, Cathrine Cummings. She was employed for 35 years as a supervisor at Arrow Shirt Factory and as a custodian for 11 1/2 years for the Mifflin County School District, retiring in 1997. She attended Grace United Methodist Church, Lewistown. She was a volunteer at Lewistown Hospital from 1985-1996 and was active at the Derry Township Senior Center. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Dale Hippensteel officiating. Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice: The Bridge, 1126 W. Fourth St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
LANCASTER - Jacob Daniel Dill was stillborn Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at the Womens & Babies Hospital of Lancaster General Hospital, Lancaster. He was the son of Leah I. Dill of 13 South Jackson St., Strasburg. Also surviving are: maternal grandparents, Mrs. Clayton G. (Deborah K.) Winters, Strasburg and Donald E. Dill, Yeagertown; maternal great-grandmothers, Mrs. Frank (Phyllis I.) Herbert of Lewistown and Marion L. Holtzapple Dill of Yeagertown. He was preceded in death by maternal great-grandfathers, Paul H. Youtzy and Fred E. Dill. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, West Fourth Street, Lewistown, with the Rev. Thomas B. Morningstar officiating. The Bachman Funeral Home Inc., Strasburg is in charge of arrangements.
LEWISTOWN - Carl W. Dillman Jr., 65, of 196 S. Main St., Lewistown, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2001, at his residence. Born Sept. 16, 1935, in Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Carl W. Sr. and Martha (Rose) Dillman. He is survived by sisters, Eleanor McCool, 6 S. Grand St., Lewistown and Mrs. Anthony (Madeline) Simonetti, 100 Locke Ave., Yeagertown. He was preceded in death by one brother, George W. Dillman and two sisters, Dorothy D. Hunter and Linda K. Fultz. He worked for Sitkins Metals and most recently for Empire Kosher, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Brooklyn Hose Company, Lewistown. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Thomas Marickovic officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
MIFFLIN - Marion E. Dillman, 71, of HC-67, Mifflin, died at 2:11 p.m. Thursday, May 24, 2001, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born Nov. 15, 1929, in Mifflin, she was the daughter of the late Shelburn W. and Rose A. (Kauffman) Eckard Sr. Her husband, Gervis L. "Red" Dillman, whom she married Nov. 7, 1952, died Jan. 4, 1996. Surviving are: children, Sherry L. Dillman, Mifflintown and Robert W. Dillman, Newport; a sister, Mrs. Donald G. (Violet A. ) Pellman, Bloomsburg; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Hayes W. Eckard Sr., Robert K. Eckard, Paul Eckard, and Shelburn W. Eckard Jr. She was a 1947 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown. Earlier in life, she was employed as a telephone operator for United Telephone Company, Mifflintown, and then worked for Fisher Electronics, Milroy. She retired on disability from Avtex Fibers, Lewistown. She was a member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church, Mifflintown. Her hobbies included macrame and she was a NASCAR race fan. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Westminster United Presbyterian Church, corner of Third and Lemon streets, Mifflintown, with the Rev. David A. Cook officiating. Interment will be in Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown RR4. There will be no viewing. Memorial contributions may be made to: Westminster United Presbyterian Church, 208 Lemon St., Mifflintown, PA 17059. Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, is in charge of arrangements.
MCVEYTOWN - Andrew M. Dimoff, 50, of 475 Mt. Hope Road, McVeytown, died at 6:14 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001, near York, from injuries received in an automobile accident. Born Oct. 13, 1951, in Mt. Union, he was the son of Kero Dimoff of Mt. Hope Road, McVeytown, and Viola C. (Mitchell) Dimoff of Three Springs RD1. His wife, Doris J. (Harshbarger) Dimoff, whom he married on May 16, 1975, survives. Also surviving are: a son, Aaron M. Dimoff, Mt. Union RR2; sister and brother, Donna L. Kauffman, Duncannon, and Peter D. Dimoff, McVeytown; and one grandson. He graduated in 1970 from Mt. Union Area High School. He was most recently employed by J.D. Eckman Construction, York. He previouly worked for G.A. & F.C. Wagman for 15 years. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mt. Union, with Pastor Dayton Sines officiating. Interment will be at the Mount Union Cemetery. Friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
REEDSVILLE - Robert E. Diven, 73, of 97 Toll Gate Hill Rd., Reedsville, died at 3:20 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2001 at Harrisburg General Hospital. Born Sept. 27, 1927 in Reedsville, he was the son of the late George Leroy and Esther Irene (Rhoades) Diven. His wife, Ruth E. (Stuck) Diven, whom he married on Oct. 24, 1948, survives. Also surviving are: a son, Robert E. Diven Jr., Reedsville; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Janet) Hostetler, Reedsville; two brothers, Ross F. Diven, Phoenix, AZ, and James R. Diven, Mifflintown; a sister, Mrs. George (Patricia) Johnson, Lewistown; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry W. Diven; and two sisters, Gladys Bove and Mary Ziegler. He graduated from Reedsville High School and attended the Reedsville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II. He had worked at Giant for 15 years, and then worked as meat manager at Weis Market, Burnham, retiring with 35 years of service. He then worked for Taylor's IGA for five years. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with the Rev. Robert E. Iddings officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Monday. Interment will be at Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville. Memorial contributions can be made to the Reedsville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 222 W. Railroad St., Reedsville, PA, 17084.
BELLEVILLE - Jane R. Dixon, 84, of RD2 Huntingdon, died at 9:38 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, at Valley View Haven, Belleville. Born June 20, 1917, in Aliquippa, she was the daughter of the late John and Hazel (Hall) Peoples. Her husband, Wilbur F. Dixon, whom she married on March 14, 1936, preceded her in death on Dec. 2, 1999. Surviving are: two daughters, Wanda Wagner and Mrs. Fred (Carol Sue) Peck, both of RD2 Huntingdon; two sons, John W. Dixon, RD2 Huntingdon and Dale A. Dixon, RD3 Huntingdon; a grandson whom she raised, Brett F. Dixon of RD2 Huntingdon; eight grand-children and seven great-grandchildren; five sisters, Gertrude Gibboney, Ennisville, June Rudy, RD Petersburg, Phylis Dixon, RD2 Huntingdon, Henrietta Hawn, RD2 Huntingdon and Helen Wilson of North Carolina; and a brother, Paul Peoples, Huntingdon. She was also preceded in death by a son, Wilbur M. Dixon; a sister, Emma Christensen; and two brothers, Kenneth and John Peoples. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the White Presbyterian Church, McAlevys Fort, and an avid Penn State fan. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, Belleville, with Lay Minister Daniel Morris officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Greenlee Cemetery, McAlevys Fort. MIFFLINTOWN Elizabeth "Liz" Johnson Dressler, 84, of 408 Village Dr., Mifflintown, formerly of Locust Run, died at 5:46 a.m., on Friday, July 13, 2001, at Harrisburg Hospital. Born December 13, 1916, in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Walter M. and Ardella M. (Motter) Lauver. Her husband, Robert S. Dressler, whom she married August 26, 1947, survives. Also surviving are: three daughters, Gloria Johnson, of Camp Hill, Patricia Johnson Duncan, of Mechanicsburg, and Jackelyn Fowler, of McCoysville; two stepsons, Robert D. Dressler, of Mechanicsburg, and William C. Dressler, of Mifflin; five stepdaughters, Ruth Williams, Nora Stacey, and Clara Whistler, all of Mifflintown, Mary Walton and Lucille Robey, both of McAlisterville; one brother, Walter Lauver Jr., of Camp Hill; 31 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded two sisters, Harriet Taylor and Agnes Mansfield; and a step-daughter, Mildred Borowski. She was a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting, quilting, embroidery, and playing cards. She was a member of Locust Run United Methodist Church. She was also a member of: Locust Run Ladies Aid; Mifflin Chapter #260 Order of the Eastern Star; Lady Lafayette Rebecca Lodge, Thompsontown; Walker Grange and the National Grange; and Juniata County Republican Women. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday at Locust Run United Methodist Church with the Rev. Maureen Wagner. Interment will be at Locust Run Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-8:45 p.m., Sunday at the Guss Funeral Home, 20 South Third St., Mifflintown. A memorial service conducted by Mifflin Chapter #260 Order of Eastern Star will be held at the funeral home at 8:45 p.m. Sunday. Friends may also call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the church.
