Orie D. Esh
MCVEYTOWN - Orie D. Esh, 62, of 271 Kansas Road, McVeytown, died at 10:20 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at his home. Born Nov. 10, 1938, in Belleville, he was the son of the late Orie J. and Anna (Wiss) Esh. He is survived by: a son, Brian K. Esh, McVeytown; a sister, Judith E. Shawver, Milroy; five grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda M. Esh, on Feb. 28, 1996. He retired in 1997 from New Holland. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Belleville, with the Rev. Rosalie N. Smith officiating. The Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, 3813 W. Main St., Belleville, is in charge of arrangements.

Richard L. Evans
DUNCANNON - Richard L. Evans, 74, of 10 Noye Rd., Duncannon, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001, at Harrisburg Hospital. Born March 27, 1927 in Enola, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Isaac F. and Catherine (Burd) Evans. His wife, Shirley (Lukens) Evans survives. Also surviving are: children, Michael L. Evans, McAlisterville, Richard L. Evans, Middletown, and Theresa S. Mutzabaugh and Kathy Evans-Blauch, both of Duncannon; brothers and sisters, Thomas Evans and Frances Shaffer, both of Duncannon, Ronald Evans, Marysville, Rufus R. Evans, Macungie, Jean Sommers, Enola, and Dorothy A. Hammaker, Marysville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a deep sea diver, and a Marine veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired employee of Conrail: Division Engineer of New Projects, and a former Duncannon police officer. He was a member and former finance officer of American Legion Post 340, Duncannon; a member of Newport Loyal Order of Moose, a former member of the Duncannon Fire Company, and a former ambulance driver. His service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Ronald Smith Funeral Home, 325 N. High St., Duncannon, with the Rev. Dale Rosenberger officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Duncannon. Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Thurdsay at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 1517 Cedar Cliff Dr., Camp Hill, PA 17011.

Sara E. Ewing
BEAVER SPRINGS - Sara E. Ewing, 90, formerly of Beaver Springs, died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, at Penn Lutheran Village, where she has resided since 1995. Born Feb. 19, 1910, in Spring Township, Snyder County, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Anna T. (Maurer) Benfer. Her husband, Russell E. Ewing, whom she married in 1926, died in 1977. She is survived by three nieces and three nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer "Slim" Benfer. She farmed in the Beaver Springs area with her husband until his retirement in 1972. Prior to that she had worked at the former Beavertown Weaving Mill for many years. She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ Church, the Sunday school and the Ladies Guild of the church. She had also served on the church council for many years. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Beavertown Chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, with the Rev. Nancy Moyer officiating. Interment will be in Troxelville Union Cemetery. There will be no viewing.

Morris R. 'Buzzy' Farrell
BURNHAM - Morris R. "Buzzy" Farrell, 76, of 111 Second Ave., Burnham, died at 11:35 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2001, at Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, Lewistown. Born April 5, 1925, in Beaver Springs, he was a son of the late Maurice and Blanche (Smith) Farrell. His wife, Betty J. (Fultz) Farrell, whom he married April 15, 1949, survives. Also surviving are: children, Dr. Rodney A. Farrell Sr. and Mrs. William (Brenda) Peightel, both of Reedsville and Jeffrey M. Farrell, South Grand Street, Lewistown; a sister, Mrs. Merrill (Jeanne) Allison, Reedsville; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ray "Mick" Farrell. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theatre. He was employed in the tire fabric department at the American Viscose Corporation for 25 and for 10 years on the Security Guard Force at Standard Steel, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Burnham Church of the Brethren and a life member of the Newtown Fire Company, Burnham. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Wayne W. Mast officiating. Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: Burnham Church of the Brethren, 541 E. Freedom Ave., Burnham, PA 17009.

Dorothy Pauline Feltman
SELINSGROVE - Dorothy Pauline Feltman, 82, formerly of Mount Pleasant Mills RR2, died at 11:04 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2001, at the Penn Lutheran Village Nursing Home in Selinsgrove, where she had resided for the past three years. Born Feb. 22, 1919, at Perry Township, Snyder County, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Anna (Walters) Mengle. Her husband, Ralph Henry Feltman, whom she married Oct. 8, 1938, died Jan. 21,1993. Surviving are: children, Harold D. Feltman, Felton, Mrs. Clarence "Ted" (Leona E.) Seaman, Richfield RR2, Mrs. Dale (Olalee M.) Hornberger, HCR 72, Richfield, and Mrs. Roger (Linda K.) Reichenbach, Richfield RR1; brothers and sisters, Herman "Palmer" Mengle, Liverpool RR1, John Mengle, Mount Pleasant Mills RR2, Leroy Mengle, York, Luella Shellenberger, Enola, Mrs. Charles (Arlene) Cramer, Mechanicsburg and Mrs. William "Bill" (Martha) Fosselman, Star Route, McAlisterville; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Ralph H. Feltman Jr. in 1939; a grandson, Thomas Reichenbach in 1979; two brothers, Raymond and Glenn Mengle. She was schooled at the Aline Grammar Schoolhouse in Snyder County. She was a homemaker and had assisted her husband in farming in earlier years. She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Millerstown RR2 and its Women's Guild and Adult Sunday School Class. She had last attended the Richfield United Church of Christ, Richfield. She was also a member of the Richfield Ambulance League and the Richfield Fire Company. She enjoyed viewing television, cooking, baking and was an accomplished quilter. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant Mills, with the Rev. Tom Adams officiating. Interment will be in the Aline Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Mills RR2. Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Aline Cemetery Association, c/o Mr. John L. Womer, Sexton, RR1, Mount Pleasant Mills, PA 17853 or to Evangelical Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837.

Howard C. 'Dal' Feltman
LEWISBURG - Howard C. "Dal" Feltman, 93, formerly of Lewisburg, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001 at Kramm's Nursing Home. Born May 1, 1907, in Juniata County, he was a son of the late Mathias and Lizzy (Clark) Feltman. His wife, Mabel (Knouse) Feltman, whom he married Dec. 4, 1926, preceded him in death in 1986. Surviving are: children, Mildred Eberhart and Mae Zimmerman, both of Mifflinburg and Joyce Romig, Selinsgrove, with whom he lived for the past three years; 11 grandchildren 17 great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and two step- great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, William and Herbert Feltman, sisters, Emma Schrawder, Joyce Nash, Stella Yeakley and two in infancy. He was also preceded in death by a son and a grandson. He was retired and had worked farming for the Brouse family, and then worked for the Brouse Construction Company. He enjoyed working with wood crafts and was known to be a flower gardener. He was a member of the United Church of Christ, Lewisburg for over 50 years. His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Gary Hackenburg officiating. Interment will be in the Dreisbach Church Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the church on Buffalo Road, Lewisburg. The Trudy K. Solomon Funeral Home, Baldwin Avenue, Shamokin Dam is in charge of arrangements.

Paul E. 'Brother' Fink
LEWISTOWN - Paul E. "Brother" Fink, 61, of 33 Roundhouse Road, Lewistown, died at 9:15 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2001, at his residence. Born July 26, 1939, in Granville, he was the son of the late Paul G. and Frances (Hartman) Fink. His wife, Barbara (Osborne) Fink, whom he married Oct. 21, 1961, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mark E. Fink, Reedsville, Scott D. Fink and Rex A. Fink, both of Lewistown, and Heather S. Fink, at home; sisters, Kathryn Gaither, Hollywood, FL and Mrs. Gerald (Sue) Miller, Lewistown; and seven grandchildren. He was a 1958 graduate of Lewistown High School. From 1961-1993, he was owner-operator of Paul E. Fink Construction, Lewistown. From 1993 to the present, he was owner-operator of Fink's Dairy Farm, Lewistown. He was a member of the Granville United Methodist Church, Granville and the Pennsylvania Farmer's Association. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Granville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Lapp officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Mattawana. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice: The Bridge, 1126 W. Fourth St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Herbert W. Firth Jr.
YEAGERTOWN - Herbert W. Firth Jr., 85, of 208 N. Derry Ave., Yeagertown, died at 5 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2001, at his residence. Born Oct. 14, 1915, in Yeagertown, he was a son of the late Professor Herbert W. Sr. and Mary M. (James) Firth. His wife, Mary A. (Cunningham) Firth, whom he married Feb. 27, 1946, survives. Also surviving are: children, Susan E. Berich, 27 S. Mann Ave., Yeagertown, Daniel B. Firth, 306 Oakridge Road, Lewistown, and Michele Firth McElhaney, 508 E. Irvin Ave., State College; sisters and brothers, Laura Zong, Malta Home, Granville, George Firth and William Firth, both of Montoursville, and Katherine Niel, Fresno, CA; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 88th Blue Devil Division in the European Theater. He was employed by the American Viscose Corporation, retiring in 1972 and then as a maintenance supervisor for Mifflin County. He was a member of the Lewistown Presbyterian Church and the BPOE Lodge 663, Lewistown. A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. today at the Lewistown Presbyterian Church, 17 E. Third St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Robert Zorn officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Little Valley Presbyterian Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown. There will be no viewing, but family will receive friends 7 p.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice: The Bridge, 1126 W. Fourth St., Lewistown, PA 17044. Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, is in charge of arrangements.
