BURNHAM - Clair L. Gingrich, 88, of 328 Eighth Ave., Burnham, died at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2001, at Ohesson Manor Nursing Home. Born May 13, 1913, in Juniata County, he was the son of the late Greely and Jennie (Leyder) Gingrich. His wife, Goldie Viola "Dolly" (Dowling) Gingrich, whom he married July 17, 1937, survives. Also surviving are: children, Ronald C. Gingrich, Emmaus, Richard L. Gingrich, Lewistown and Mrs. Todd (Linda) Pagliarulo, Hershey; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Jacob (Gertrude) Bowers, Mechanicsburg, John Gingrich, Burnham, James Gingrich, Lakeland, FL, Ruth Wolgemuth, Mount Joy, Mrs. Aaron (Martha) Stern, Denver, CO, and Jane Swartz, McAlisterville; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Donald L. Gingrich in 1956; two brothers and a sister, Carl Gingrich, Paul Gingrich and Viola Landis. He was employed in sales at Beaver Brothers Bakery in Burnham. He was a member of the Calvary Bible Church, Lewistown and a former member of the Burnham Lions Club. Private services will be held by the family, with the Rev. John Keefer officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. There will be no viewing. Family will provide all funeral flowers, but memorial contributions may be made to: Calvary Bible Church, 301 S. Pine Road, Lewistown, PA 17044. Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
BURNHAM - Goldie Viola Gingrich, 84, of 328 Eighth Ave., Burnham, died at noon Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born April 18, 1917, in Port Royal, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Dougherty and Goldie Viola (Haines) Dowling. Her husband, Clair L. Gingrich, died June 27, 2001. Surviving are: children, Ronald C. Gingrich, Emmaus, Richard L. Gingrich, Lewistown and Mrs. Todd (Linda) Pagliarulo, Hershey; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family and was preceded in death by a son, Donald L. Gingrich in 1956; a brother, Warren James Dowling; and a sister, Mary Martha Brubaker. She was a cafeteria worker at Chief Logan High School. She was a member of Calvary Bible Church. Private family services will be held with the Rev. John Keefer officiating. Interment will also be private at Juniata Memorial Park. There will be no viewing and family will provide all flowers. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Calvary Bible Church, 301 S. Pine Road, Lewistown, PA 17044. BURNHAM - John W. Gingrich Jr., 61, of 209 8th Ave., Burnham, died at 11:44 p.m., Friday, August 17, 2001 in the emergency room of the Lewistown Hospital. Born on Aug. 11, 1940 in Mifflintown, he was the son of John W. Gingrich Sr., of 209 8th Ave., Burnham, and the late Mae E. (Beaver) Gingrich. His wife, Josephine A. "Jo" (Claybaugh) Gingrich died on April 20, 1995. He was also preceded in death by two step-sons. He is survived by a step-daughter, Mrs. Robert (Toni) Burris, Mount Pleasant Mills; two step-sons, Jean Orris, Ickesburg, and Roy W. Swartz, Millerstown; two sisters, Mary Jane Capriotti and Susan M. Harpster, both of Burnham; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He graduated from Chief Logan High School in 1958. He was employed at the Firestone Automotive Store in Delaware and then for R.E. Davidson, Millerstown. He retired in 1989. He was a member of the Decatur Sportsman Club and the Yeagertown and Brooklyn Fire Companies. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Heller-Hoenstine Burnahm Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Roger R. Reece officiating. Friends may call on Monday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at the Juniata Memorial Park. MILROY - Jack Paul Gisewhite, 66, of 20 White St., Milroy, died at 5:22 p.m. Sunday, April 1, 2001, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital. Born Nov. 18, 1934, in Milroy, he was the son of the late Samuel C. and Sylvia Mae (Gentzel) Gisewhite. His wife, Harriet Sue (Knode) Gisewhite, whom he married Feb. 10, 1956, survives. He is also survived by children, Mrs. William (Alicia) Coulter, Milroy, Mrs. Stephen (Suellen) Crawford, Lewistown, Mrs. Rick (Marcie) Watts, Denver, Pa. and Jack P. Gisewhite Jr., Reedsville; brothers and sisters, Genevieve Rankin, Helen Loney, Daniel Gisewhite, Polly Rager, Mildred Hall, Larry Gisewhite, Neal Gisewhite, and John Gisewhite, all of Milroy, Peggy Sinitski, Lewistown, and Dennis Gisewhite, McClure; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Ronald Gisewhite. Earlier in life, he was a farmer. He retired from Penn DOT as an equipment operator with 20 years of service. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family, with the Rev. Edward P. Fleming Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy. There will be no viewing. Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Cancer Society, 112 N. Wayne St., Lewistown, PA 17044. Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, is in charge of arrangements.
STATE COLLEGE &endash; Larry A. Glick, 65, of 615 Devonshire Drive, State College died at 2:31 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001 at the Harrisburg Hospital. Born Aug. 29, 1936, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Rose Simon Glick. He was the beloved husband of Madeline (Weinberg) Glick, who he married on March 28, 1998. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son (by marriage), David Relin, husband of Elizabeth of Florida; and a grandson (by marriage), Austin Relin of Florida. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Glick. He was a member of the Congregation Brit Shalom Synagogue, State College. He was a graduate of Syracuse University, New York, with a Master's degree in physical education. He was a member of Elks Lodge #663 in Lewistown. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown. A viewing will not be held. Interment will be in Ohev Shalom Cemetery, Lewistown, with Rabbi Jonathan Brown officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Heart Association, RD1, Box 135A, Reedsville, PA, 17084.
BELLEVILLE - Margaret E. Glick, 92, of 48 Maple Grove Rd., Belleville, died at 6:15 p.m., Friday, Aug. 10, 2001, at Valley View Haven, Belleville. Born on Nov. 26, 1908, in McAlisterville, she was the daughter of the late John and Amanda (Brubaker) Heckman. Her husband, Jesse B. Glick, whom she married on June 18, 1939, preceded her in death on May 8, 1999. She is survived by two sons, Jesse B. Glick Jr., Amston, CT and John G. Glick, Sarasota, FL; and two grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by two sisters and two brother. She was a homemaker and a member of Locust Grove Mennonite Church; Senior Ladies Sunday School Class; associate member of Bahia Vista Mennonite Church, Sarasota. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Locust Grove Mennonite Church, Belleville, with the Revs. Max Zook, Mayard Beitzel and Erie Renno officiating. Interment will be at the Locust Grove Cemetery, Belleville. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorial contributions can be made to Locust Grove Mennonite Church, 3358 W. Alverta J. Gloss, 78, of South View Apts. #107, McAlisterville, formerly of RR1, Honey Grove, died at 6:45 a.m., Oct. 25, 2001, at Centre Community Hospital. Her Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at the Rex Funeral Home. Burial will be at East Waterford Cemetery. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home.
DOWNINGTOWN - Charles R. Gochnaur, 94, of St. Martha Manor, Downingtown, formerly of Bellingham Retirement Center, West Chester and Hoffecker Road, North Conventry Township, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at St. Martha Manor. Born in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Charles P. and Margaret (Reynolds) Gochnaur. His wife, Mary E. (Sands) Gochnaur, preceded him in death. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Luther L. (Judith G.) Rife, Glen Mills, two grandsons and one great-grandson. He was a 1924 graduate of Lewistown High School and a 1928 graduate of Lafayette College, Easton. He was an assistant sales manager at Doehler-Jarvis, Stowe, retiring in 1971 after 30 years of service. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Pottstown, where he was elected to Vestry in February 1936 and resigned in March 1968, serving as Senior Warden from 1958-1968. He served as secretary from February 1937 until February 1942, Accounting Warden from February 1942 until March 1963, and Assistant Rector's Warden from February 1952 until March 1963. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 203, Lewistown and received his 50-year pin in 1980. He was also a member and past president of the Pottstown Rotary Club and received the Paul Harris Fellow Award in June 1981. He served on the Board of Directors for the YMCA, the Greater Pottstown Area Chamber of Commerce, the Wyndcroft School and the former US Axle Company, all of Pottstown. He was director at the former Red Hill Savings and Loan and was a member of their executive committee. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ Episcopal Church, 316 High St., Pottstown and 7 p.m. Thursday at the Advent Lutheran Church, South Chester Road at Green Lane, West Chester. Entombment will be private in Mount Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Memorial Fund at Christ Episcopal Church, 316 High St., Pottstown, PA 19464 or the Memorial Fund at Advent Lutheran Church, 1601 Green Lane, West Chester, PA 19382.
