HUNTINGDON - Mary E. Goss, 91, a resident of Westminster Woods Nursing Home, Huntingdon, formerly of McClure, died at 6:50 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, at the nursing home. Born on Sept. 16, 1909, in West Beaver Township, Snyder County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph W. and Nancy Mae (Spigelmyer) Romig. Her husband, Martin L. Goss, preceded her in death in 1981. She is survived by: two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Mae) Gregg, 53 Hoffman Rd., McClure, and Mrs. George (Shelva) Norris, Mount Union RD1; nine grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Floyd (Fae) Knepp, nine brothers and eight sisters. She was the last of her immediate family. She was a homemaker and a member of Samuel's United Church of Christ, McClure. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Samuel's United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Jacob T. Traxler officiating. Interment will be at Samuel's Cemetery. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday at the church.
MCCLURE - Percy C. Goss, 81, of 700 Whiskey Rd., McClure, died at 1:05 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born April 17, 1920, in Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Charles F. and Gertrude E. (Zook) Goss. Surviving are: brothers and sisters, Richard A. Goss, RR1 Box 460, Mifflintown, Kenneth M. Goss, 700 Whiskey Rd., McClure, Mrs. Roy (Shirley A.) Weaver, 169 Summit Rd., McClure, Mrs. Fred (Dorothy E.) Goss, P.O. Box 391, McClure, and Mrs. Wesley (Beryle A.) Wiser, 4246 Old Stage Rd., McClure. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters. He was a crane operator at Standard Steel, retiring in 1982. He was a member of First Church of the Brethren and Steelworkers Local 1940. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Samuel's Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenneth C. Wagner officiating. The Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Brethren, 134 Shaw Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044.
MCCLURE - Roy A. Goss, 79, of 38 Specht St., McClure, died at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at the Lewistown Hospital. Born Aug. 21, 1921, in McClure, he was the son of the late Hurley A. and Mabel (Knepp) Goss. His wife, Evelyn (Knepp) Goss, whom he married Jan. 24, 1942, survives. Also surviving are: children, Terry A. Goss, McClure RR2 and Alan S. Goss, Beaver Springs RR1; brothers and sister, Robert S. Goss, Fred A. Goss, Clifford Goss, and Archie Goss, all of McClure and Nancy Fetterolf, Elkton, Md.; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of World War II, having served as a staff sergeant in Miami Beach, Austria, Italy and Corsica. Early in life, he worked at Standard Steel and later as a farmer for 35 years until retirement. He was a member of St. John's Ridge Lutheran Church, McClure RR2; the McClure American Legion; the Middleburg Post 5640 VFW; the McClure Fire Company; and the Green Ridge Hunting Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and playing cards. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John's Ridge Lutheran Church, McClure RR2, with his pastor, the Rev. Donald G. Nice officiating. Interment will be in Black Oak Ridge Cemetery, McClure RR, with military graveside services conducted by VFW Post 5640, Middleburg. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. John's Ridge Lutheran Church, RR2, McClure, PA 17841. LEWISTOWN - Bertha Elizabeth Graham, 92, of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, formerly of 204 Bratton Ave., Lewistown, died at 1 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2001, at the nursing home. Born Aug. 19, 1909, in Mahaffey, she was the daughter of the late Irvin E. and Minnie (Peterman) Dull. Her husband, Chester Graham, died Dec. 13, 1977. Surviving are: sons, Gary D. Graham, Harrisburg and Ronald B. Graham, Mechanicsburg; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lewistown, the American Baptist Women, and the Gleaners class of the Sunday school. Her service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, at the First Baptist Church, Lewistown, with the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey D. McCleary officiating. A special graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. at the Mt. Rock Cemetery. There will be no viewing, but family will receive friends 9 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: First Baptist Church, 111 E. Third St., Lewistown, PA 17044. Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
LEWISTOWN - Jeffrey A. Graham, 41, of 123 Long Lane, Lewistown, died at 12:01 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at his residence. Born Dec. 21, 1959, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Gordon M. Graham who died in 1979 and Cora (Folk) Graham, who survives, residing at 123 Long Lane, Lewistown. Also surviving are: brothers and a sister, David A. Graham, 123 Long Lane, Lewistown, James E. Graham, Jasonville, IN and Mrs. Theodore (Karen) Kline, Middle Road, Lewistown. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy. He was a general laborer for contractor Harold Lindsey. He was a graduate of Chief Logan High School. He was a member of the Salvation Army of Lewistown. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Major Eddie Purvis and Major Bonnie Purvis officiating. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 9 S. Dorcas St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
LEWISTOWN - Raymond Q. Gramley, 87, of 450 W. Fourth St., Lewistown, died at 12:38 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at his residence. Born April 16, 1914, in McClure RR, he was the son of the late Roy J. and Ella Mae (Himes) Gramley. His wife, Imogene C. (Wilson) Gramley, whom he married Dec. 24, 1937, survives. Also surviving are: children, Raymond E. Gramley and Barbara J. Menegat, both of Mechanicsburg and Jerry A. Gramley, Reedsville; sisters, Lorma Rager and Marea Walters, both of McClure; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. He worked at the American Viscose Corp. for 30 years and then at Standard Steel, Burnham for 10 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he was a member of the Ichdiem Sunday School and past church council member. He was also a member of Steelworkers Local 1940, the UCT Council, the ACTWU Retirees Club and past president of the Pensioneers Club. His service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald A. Krum officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice: The Bridge, 1126 W. Fourth St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
PAXTONVILLE - Roberta Anne "Bobbi" Gray, 58, of Paxtonville, formerly of Piedmont, SC, died at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2001, at her home. Born Feb. 7, 1943, in Sunbury, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Evelyn (Ernest) Bickhart. Her husband, Dana R. Gray, whom she married Aug. 30, 1979, survives. Also surviving are: children, Bethana Mae Humphrys, Greenville, SC, Dana Marie Eubanks, Woodruff, SC, and Charles Larry Ammons Jr., Pageland, SC; a brother, Leonard Francis Bickhart, Carlisle; and five grandchildren. She was employed as a telephone operator in directory assistance and as a local long distance marketing relief supervisor for Southern Bell, Harrisburg and in Greenville, SC. She was a member of the South Side Baptist Church, Greenville, SC and the Paxtonville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling, reading, traveling and horses. His funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Paxtonville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Calvin Morgan officiating. Interment will be in the Paxtonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service Saturday at the church. Aurand Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown is handling arrangements.
NORTHUMBERLAND - Corbet Herbert Graybill, 76, of 621 Fifth St., Northumberland, formerly of Richfield, died at 9:26 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, at the emergency room of Sunbury Community Hospital. Born Sept. 26, 1924 in Richfield, he was the son of the late Albert H. and Dorothy M. (Graybill) Graybill. His first wife, Ellen (Strawser) Graybill, whom he married Aug. 23, 1946, died June 27, 1984. His second wife, Audrey E. (Stout) Woodhead, whom he married June 25, 1988, survives. Also surviving are: children, Herbert E. Graybill, Richfield and Mrs. Stephen D. (Nancy J.) Shaffer, Freeburg; stepdaughters, Mrs. Thomas E. (Sharon K.) Huber, Dover, Mrs. Jay A. (Joyce M.) Clayberger, Sunbury RR5, and Nancy A. Lawrence, Sunbury RR2; brothers and sisters, James Graybill, Gerald Graybill, Esther Shaffer, all of Richfield, Raymond Graybill, Port Trevorton, Mary Graybill and Emma (Klause) Zechman, both of Middleburg, Bessie Keisling, Forty Fort, and Ida Fowler, Lewistown; three granddaughters; two great-grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Corbet Allen Graybill on Oct. 14, 1985; a great-grandson, Travis Eugene Wert on Jan. 11, 2000; three brothers, Timothy Graybill, the Rev. Herman Graybill and Casper "Cap" Graybill; and a step-grandson, John E. Witmer. He was educated at the Crossroads Grammar schoolhouse, Snyder County. He was employed at Floyd Graybill's Orchard, Richfield; at Precision Ware (now Triangle Pacific), Thompsontown; Albert Graybill's Sawmill, Richfield; Lester Leitzel Block Company, McAlisterville; Walter L. Stuck Lumber Company, Richfield; and retired in August 1998 following 32 years of employment for the A.D. Renninger Lumber Company, Richfield. He was well known for 35 years in Richfield Shoe Repairs. He was a member of the Emmanuel Bible Fellowship Church, Sunbury. He followed and researched his Bible and in 1993, he visited Israel. He enjoyed hunting. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant Mills, with Pastor Leon R. Clayberger, pastor of the Centre Union Church, Lewistown, officiating and Pastor Charles E. Cole, pastor of the Emmanuel Bible Fellowship Church, Sunbury, assisting. Interment will be in Richfield Union Cemetery, Richfield. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
