MCALISTERVILLE - Harold Earnest Graybill, 67, Of RR1 McAlisterville, died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Richfield Mennonite Church, Richfield, with the Pastor Jerry R. O'Connell, Pastor Chan Cutting and Pastor James A. Neimond officiating. Interment will be in Rich field Union Cemetery, Richfield. Friends may call from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Friday, at the church.
RICHFIELD - Orpha E. Graybill, 92, of Richfield RR1, died Tuesday morning May 22, 2001, at her residence. Born Nov. 21, 1908, in Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Olive (Auker) Shelley. Her husband, J. Walter Graybill, died in 1957. Surviving are: sons, Pastor Shelley W. Graybill, Waynesboro, John W. Graybill, Port Trevorton, Hubert P. Graybill and Pastor Orval C. Graybill, both of Richfield RR1; sisters, Vera Graybill, Mifflintown, Esther Lauver, Oakland Mills and Etta Bittinger, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. She was a former employee of the East Salem Shirt Company. She was a member of the Crossroads Mennonite Church, Richfield RR1 and was a member of the Sewing Circle at the church. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Crossroads Mennonite Church, with Bishop Marvin Freed and Pastor Timothy Lauver officiating. Interment will be in the Brick Church Cemetery, Richfield RR. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Crossroads Sewing Circle, RR1, Box 62, Richfield, PA 17086. The George P. Garman Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant Mills, is in charge of arrangements.
BEAVERTOWN - Robert F. "Shug" Graybill, 83, of Beavertown, died at 3:20 p.m. Sunday, May 20, 2001, at Penn Lutheran Village, Selinsgrove, where he had been a resident for the past nine days. Born Oct. 14, 1917, in Paxtonville, he was a son of the late Frank and Amy (Mitchell) Graybill. His wife, Gertrude (Coleman) Graybill, whom he married in 1949, died Sept. 10, 1993. He is survived by children, Mary A. Graybill, Carlisle, Galen A. Graybill, McClure and John F. Graybill, Elkins Park; sister and brother, Mary Saul, Mechanicsburg and Thomas Graybill, Milford, Conn. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers, Vera Burns, Kathryn Gift, Lee Graybill and Harvey Graybill. He was the first Snyder County serviceman drafted into the armed forces under the selective service act, serving in the United States Army in India and Burma. In 1982, he retired from Middleswarth Potato Chips, Middleburg, after 27 years as the local deliveryman. He had also worked for the former American Viscose and the former Paxtonville Brick Plant. He was a member of the Heiser-Hoffman VFW Post 5640, Paxtonville, the Middleburg Moose, Lodge No. 1229 and the Rescue Hose Fire Company. He also served as a Beavertown Borough councilman. Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the Beavertown chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, with the Rev. Thomas Schroeder officiating. Interment will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery. Friends may call 4 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 p.m. until the time of the service. MCALISTERVILLE - Vera C. Graybill, 99, of McAlisterville, died at 12:34 a.m. Saturday, June 9, 2001, at the Locust Grove Retirement Village, HCR 67, Mifflin, where she had been a resident since 1995. Born Nov. 28, 1901, in Delaware Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Olive (Auker) Shelley. Her husband, Everett R. Graybill, whom she married Dec. 8, 1921, died April 7, 1982. Also surviving are: children, Lloyd S. Graybill and Mrs. Lester (Arlene) Brubaker, both of McAlisterville; sisters, Mrs. Donald (Esther) Lauver, Oakland Mills and Mrs. Thomas (Etta) Bittinger, Uniontown, OH; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Carl G. Shelley, Orville Shelley, Mrs. William (Joyce) Shellemburger, Mrs. William (Hazel) Graybill and Mrs. Walter (Orpha) Graybill. She attended Delaware Hill Grammar School. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Lost Creek Mennonite Church, Mifflintown RR1, where she was an active member of the Sewing Circle. She was also a member of the McAlisterville Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Lost Creek Mennonite Church, Mifflintown RR1, with Pastor Gary L. Krabill officiating. Interment will follow in the church Cemetery. Friends may call 4-9 p.m. today at the Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home, 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville, where family will be present from 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Lost Creek Mennonite Church, RR1, Box 1405, Mifflintown, PA 17059 or to the Mennonite Historical Society, PO Box 81, Richfield, PA 17086.
LEWISTOWN - Kathryn M. Greer, 90, a resident of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, formerly of Belle Avenue, Lewistown, died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at the nursing home. Born Nov. 7, 1910, in Vira, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Mary A. (Harbst) Stuck. Her husband, Homer N. Greer, died June 5, 1977. She is survived by a son, Nelson E. Greer, 1016 US Highway 522 N, Lewistown and a sister, Martha Peters, Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, Lewistown. She was preceded in death by six brothers and six sisters. She worked for the American Viscose Corporation for 25 years and the S & H Green Stamp Store, Lewistown for 11 years. She was Methodist by faith. Her service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Jacob T. Traxler officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
BLOOMSBURG - Millard F. Griffith Jr., 74, of West Third Street, Bloomsburg, formerly of Lewistown, died at 6:25 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2001 at the Millville Health Center, Millville. Born Feb. 20, 1927, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Millard F. Sr. and Anna Mae (Gahagan) Griffith. His wife, Carolyn L. (Stine) Griffith, whom he married March 10, 1951, died Jan. 13, 1983. Surviving are: children, Mrs. Rev. Kenneth (Cindy) West, Jersey Shore, Gary L. Griffith, Millville, and Shawn D. Griffith, Newport; four sisters, Phyllis Reese, Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Held, Mrs. Delbert (Donna) Harbst, and Mrs. Fred (Sue) Saxton, all of Lewistown; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Patty Musser. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theatre. He was employed as yard foreman for the former Clasters in Lewistown, retiring in 1981 from Busy Beaver, Altoona. He was a member of VFW Post 804, Bloomsburg. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown, with the Rev. Kenneth L. West officiating. Interment will be in Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown, where graveside military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown. Family will receive friends 1 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Cancer Society, PO Box 551, Lewistown, PA 17044.
ZWIEBRUKEN - Randall A. Griffith, 42, of Zwiebruken, Germany, died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, in a single car accident near his home. Born Nov. 30, 1958, in Lewistown, he was the son of Dean and Ella (Kauffman) Griffith of Columbus, GA. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Big Valley Brethren In Christ Church, 81 Wagner St., Belleville, with the Rev. John Keefer officiating. Interment will be in the Allensville Presbyterian Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service Friday. Local funeral arrangements provided by Donald I. Baggus Funeral Home, Belleville.
BELLEVILLE - Shirley L. Griffith, 71, of 360 Spring Run Road, Belleville, died at 2:55 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, 2001, at her residence. Born Aug. 2, 1929, in Reedsville, she was the daughter of the late Harry A. and Violet M. (Stidinger) Dalby. Her husband, Jack R. Griffith, whom she married Jan. 7, 1956, survives. Also surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Ken (Judy) Shreffler, McClure; a sister, Mrs. David (Mary) Smoker, Milroy; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She owned and operated the Shirley Griffith Beauty Salon, Reedsville. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, with Pastor John S. Walters officiating. Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville. Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, is in charge of arrangements.
