BURNHAM - Everett W. Hammacher Jr., 33, of 909 N. Beech St., Burnham, died at 8:50 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2001, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, as a result of a pedestrian accident. Born Dec. 13, 1968, in Hershey, he was the son of Everett X. Hammacher Sr, 510 Lopax Road, Harrisburg, and Judith F. Blandy,1396 Ford Ave., Harrisburg. His companion, Angela Shirk of Burnham, survives. Also surviving are: a sister, Susan Wenzler, Annville, and a stepfather, Edward Blandy, Harrisburg. He was an accountant. He attended Samuel's United Church of Christ, McClure. His memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, at Samuel's United Church of Christ, 480 Samuel's Church Road, McClure, with the Rev. Clark S. Kelsey officiating. A private interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Samuel's United Church of Christ, 480 Samuel's Church Road, McClure, PA 17841. Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
LEWISTOWN - George Clifford Haney, 79, of 100 Quarry Road, Lewistown, died at 9:55 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2001 at Lewistown Hospital. Born April 11, 1921 in Entricken, he was a son of the late George S. and Ethel Lillian (Everhart) Haney. His wife, Beulah Mae (Hagans) Haney, whom he married Oct. 1, 1966, survives. Also surviving are: children, Clifford C. Haney, McConnellstown, Lester W. Haney, Mill Creek and Mrs. Robert (Carolyn) Varner, Foustown; sisters, Elizabeth L. Miller, Anna M. Miller, Audrey E. Miller and Dawn E. Snare, all of Williamsburg, and Sandy C. Norton, Port Matilda; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Neil Roger Haney, and by two sisters, Rosemond Elaine Haney and June J. Wilson. He served in the United States Navy. He was a truck driver for Faylor Middlecreek, having retired in 1983. He was a Methodist by faith. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Jacob T. Traxler officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
MCCLURE - Herbert E. Hannon Jr., 75, of Springettsbury Township, York, died at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at the Manor Care Health Services-Kingston Court. Born Feb. 15, 1925, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Herbert E. Sr. and Stella (Shindler) Hannon. His wife, Norma A. (Eberly) Hannon, survives. Also surviving are: children, Herbert E. Hannon III, Lewistown, Brian E. Hannon, New Cumberland, Deborah A. White, Dover, Mitzie L. Cepull, Dallastown, and Carla R. Kunkel, York; sister and brother, June Decker, Bellefonte and Ronald Hannon, York; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard V. Hannon, Donald Hannon and George Hannon. He was a 1943 graduate of Lewistown High School. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired in 1985 as a time keeper following 30 years of employment for Caterpillar Inc. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E. Market St., York. Interment will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York, where graveside military rites will be conducted by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. BURNHAM - Jozefina Harangozo, 83, of B-37 Freedom Ave. Trailer Court, Burnham, died at 7:03 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2001, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital. She was born Aug. 9, 1917, in Yugoslavia. Her husband, Ludwig Harangozo, preceded her in death Oct. 20, 1987. She is survived by children, Robert F. Vidacs, Newton, Kan., Mrs. Dennis (Helen) Turnitsa, Tucson, Ariz., Ludwig Harangozo, Burnham and Eva Betlyon, Lewistown; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. She was a private duty nurses aide. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family. Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
LEWISTOWN - Vincent R. Harbst, 87, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, formerly of Coleman House Apartments, Lewistown, died at 1:10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 23, 2001 at Valley View Haven. Born Oct. 2, 1913 in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Harry A. and Nettie (Reigle) Harbst. His wife Cleo P. (Shilling) Harbst preceded him in death on Oct. 30, 1992. Surviving are: a son, Robert L. Harbst, 209 Shaw Ave., Lewistown; brothers and sisters, Catherine Shoemaker and Beulah Folk Aurand, both of Lewistown, and Salome P. Shutt, Cortland, NY; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters. He was a United States Army veteran, having served in the Pacific Theatre in World War II and in the Korean Conflict. He earned a Purple Heart in World War II and retired from the United States Army in 1962 after 22 years of service. He worked as a laundry operator at Lewistown Hospital until retirement in 1984. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Lewistown. He was a member of the American Legion Logan Guard Post No. 90, a member of the VFW Post 7011, Lewistown and a member of the 77th Division Association. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Juniata Memorial Park Chapel, Lewistown, with the Reverend Father Thomas Marickovic officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mifflin-Juniata American Cancer Society, 26 N. Brown St., Lewistown, PA 17044, or to the charity of one's choice. The Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
BELLEVILLE - Catherine E. Harmon, 89, of A-8, 4501 E. Main St., Belleville, died at 10:50 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, at University Park Nursing Center, State College. Born Dec. 29, 1911 in Centre County, she was a daughter of the late John P. and Bertha (Smiley) Collins. Her husband Merle P. Harmon, whom she married March 4, 1935, preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1992. Surviving are: a daughter, Helen F. Mayhue, Belleville; sisters, Dorothy Rothrock and Faye Verbeck, both of Philipsburg; one grandson and two great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by five sisters and four brothers. She was employed at the American Viscose between 1927 and 1944, and worked as a nurse's aide between 1968 and 1977 at Valley View Haven. She was a member of Evangel Baptist Church, Lewistown. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, 3813 W. Main St., Belleville with Pastor Darrell Wireman officiating. Interment will be St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Belleville. Friends may call from 10 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
BELLEVILLE - Roy Dean Harmon, 76, of 315 King Lane, Belleville, formerly of Juniata Terrace, Lewistown, died Friday, May 11, 2001, at his home. Born Dec. 27, 1924, in Milroy, he was the son of the late William G. and Mary M. (McClennahen) Harmon. His wife, Donna Jean (Wakefield) Harmon, died March 19, 1996. He is survived by children, Mrs. Charles (Kathy) French, Carlisle and Michael D. Harmon, Germantown, Md.; sisters, Katherine McCloskey, Wichita Falls, Texas, Doris I. Phillips, McAlisterville and Beverly D. Krepps, Milroy; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was a meat cutter for Weis Markets, Burnham, for over 20 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Lewistown Presbyterian Church, the Elks Lodge 663, the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 143, Lewistown, the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion Post 0945. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Robert Zorn officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, where graveside military honor guard will be provided by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 2209 Forest Hill Drive, Harrisburg, PA 17112.
BELLEVILLE - Violet C. "Doll" Harmon, 96, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, died at 3:45 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Valley View Haven. Born Aug. 5, 1904, in Mount Union, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Emmett and Mary Alice (States) Hancock. Her husband, Charles Ernest Harmon, died March 8, 1972. She is survived by sons, James L. Harmon and Larry E. Harmon, both of Belleville; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family and was preceded in death by sisters, Myrtle Treaster and Beulah Smith and a grandson, Jerry Lee Harmon in 1954. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Belleville. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Belleville, with the Rev. Lois Martin and the Rev. Erie Renno officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to: Valley View Haven, 4702 E. Main St., Belleville, PA 17004 or to St. John Lutheran Church, 3597 W. Main St., Belleville, PA 17004. The Donald E.
