Anthony G. 'Tony' Ivanoff
DAUPHIN - Anthony G. "Tony" Ivanoff, 45, of Dauphin, died Saturday, May 12, 2001, as a result of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Born Oct. 16, 1955, in Harrisburg, he was the son of Virginia M. Ivanoff of Harrisburg and the late Mihai Ivanoff. His wife, Sharon R. (Neff) Ivanoff, formerly of Mifflintown, survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Stephanie Ivanoff and Greta Ivanoff, both at home; brothers and sisters, Mitchell Ivanoff of Hummelstown, John Ivanoff of Enola, Florita Hobaugh of Kutztown, Susan Acri of Harrisburg and Virginia Ivanoff of Durham, NC. He was an employee for Taylor Wharton, Harrisburg. He was a member of United Steelworkers of America Local 1688; the Dauphin Fire Company; the Millersburg Moose Lodge; and the Linglestown American Legion Post 272. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Neill Funeral Home, Paxtang. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing or visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Darwin Allen Johnson
MIFFLINBURG - Darwin Allen Johnson, 86, of 72 Shipton St., Mifflinburg, died at 2:38 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2001, at the James VanZandt Veterans Administration Hospital, Altoona. Born Dec. 1, 1914, in Thompsontown, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Ernest David and Grayce Anna (Allen) Johnson. His wife Edythe Isabelle (Klingman) Johnson, whom he married July 5, 1969, survives. Also surviving are: a daughter, Angelyn Redstone, Santa Cruz, Calif., a step-son, Bradley K. Gotshall, Mifflinburg; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Forrest Jesse Johnson on Oct. 29, 1995, two sisters, Miriam Janet Kreisher on May 25, 1999, and Frances J. Troxell in 1938, and a son, Allen Hommel Johnson in 1989. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, having enlisted on May 15, 1934. He retired after 32 years on Aug. 31, 1966, as a lieutenant colonel serving last at Travis Air Force Base, and having served in the Strategic Air Command's Fifth Bombardment Wing. He was decorated several times and his awards included: Bronze Star, Presidential Distinguished Unit Citation with two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters; Good Conduct medal; Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal; American Campaign Medal; European-African Middle East Campaign Medal with six combat stars; World War II Victory medal; Army of Occupation (Germany) medal; National Defense medal and the Air Force Longevity Medal with one silver and two bronze Oak Leaf Clusters. He served 1934-1937 in Panama; in England, France and Germany during World War II; and at Eniwetok with the Atomic Energy Commission's overseas task force in 1951. He was a 1932 graduate of the Hartley Township, Union County High School, and served for one year in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He attended state and city colleges in Sacramento, and also took courses at Vallejo Junior College in California. He was a Lutheran by faith. He was a member of the Thomas H. Clapham Post No. 410 American Legion Post, Mifflinburg; Yoder-Zimmerman Post No. 1964 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mifflinburg and Fairfield Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1976, Suisun City, Calif. He was a life member of the Gatun Lodge Free and Accepted Masons, Balboa, Panama; the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry of the Valley of Danville; the Ben Ali Temple AAONMS, Sacramento, Calif.; the Fairfield Kiwanis Club; the Air Force Sergeants Association; American Association of Retired Persons, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge No. 861, Fairfield, Calif. and a 50-year member of the Montezuma Shrine Club, Vacaville, Calif. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Johnson family plot of the Hartleton Cemetery, Hartley Township, Union County, with the Rev. Dennis E. Beaver, pastor of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mifflinburg, officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hartley Township Community Center, Laurelton, PA 17835. The James L. Schwartz Home for Funerals, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, is in charge of arrangements.

Fred S. Johnson
LEWISTOWN - Fred S. Johnson, 90, formerly of 630 W. Sixth St., Lewistown, died at 7:45 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2001, at Ohesson Manor, Lewistown. Born April 1, 1911, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Harry and Carrie (Kline) Johnson. His wife, Nellie L. Johnson, died June 28, 1986. He is survived by a son, Ronald N. Johnson, Lewistown; five grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. He worked in construction in the steel industry. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lewistown and the International Iron Workers Local 404. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and gardening. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with Karen McCachren officiating. Interment will be private. There will be no viewing. Family will provide all flowers, but memorial contributions may be made to: the First United Methodist Church, Third & Dorcas streets, Lewistown, PA 17044.

Margaret R. Johnson
MIFFLINTOWN - Margaret R. Johnson, 89, a resident of the Brookline Manor & Retirement Village, Mifflintown RR1, formerly of Mifflintown, died at 10:54 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at the village. Born March 20, 1911, in Mifflintown, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Margaret (Stutts) Renninger. Her husband, Anthon C. 'Sonny" Johnson Sr., died July 2, 1981. Surviving are: a son, Anthon C. "Bud" Johnson Jr., Reedsville; a brother, L. Forrest Renninger, Mifflintown; and one grandson. She was preceded in death by two brothers, James W. Renninger and Clair A. Renninger; and a sister, Betty A. Vanalman. She was a 1929 graduate of Mifflintown High School. She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church, Mifflintown and ladies auxiliary of the Mifflintown Hose Company No. 1. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Anna Ritter officiating. Interment will be in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Salvation Army, 9 South Dorcas St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Harry D. Johnston
MIDDLESEX, NJ - Harry D. Johnston, 78, of 6 Rutgers Lane, Middlesex, NJ, died at 10:29 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2001, at his residence. Born Oct. 25, 1922, in Warriors Mark, he was a son of the late Donald S. and Flossie G. (Bason) Johnston. His wife, Ralphetta A. (Simonetti) Johnston, whom he married Dec. 12, 1942, survives. Also surviving are: children, H. Scott Johnston, 413 Caldwell Hill, Lewistown and John E. Johnston, 1 Sunset Road, Lewistown; a brother, C. Earl Johnston, 245 Loop Road, Lewistown; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald James Johnston. He was a United States Army Air Force veteran of World War II, having flown 63 missions as a pilot on a B-26 Marauder with the First Tactical Air Force in France. He was awarded the Air Medal with eight Oak Leaf Clusters, the French Croix de Guerre with Palm and the European Theatre of Operations ribbon with six battle stars. He was an honors graduate of the Lewistown High School Class of 1940, and he attended Arkansas State Teacher's College, Bucknell and Lock Haven universities. He earned his master's degree from Penn State University. He was a high school teacher and coach for various schools, including Lewistown High School and Columbia High School in Maplewood, NJ. He coached the 1964 Lewistown baseball team to its first District Championship. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Virgin Catholic Church in Middlesex, NJ, and was a former member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Lewistown. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Wednesday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 106 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Father Thomas Marickovic officiating. Interment was in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown, where military graveside rites were conducted by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Alzheimer's Association, 2001 Front St., Harrisburg, PA 17102. Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, was in charge of arrangements.

Rodney Gene Jones
LAKE WORTH - Rodney Gene Jones, 41, of Lake Worth, TX, formerly of Lewistown, died Aug. 8, 2001, in Fort Worth, TX. Born July 17, 1959, in Lewistown, he was a son of Melvin Gene Jones, Fort Worth, TX and Betty (Snook) Bailey, 32 Park View Ave., Lewistown. Surviving are: a son, Sean Jones, Weatherford, TX; stepchildren, Jessica Nichols and Johnny Nichols, both of Weatherford, TX; a stepmother Jeanie Jones, Fort Worth, TX; a stepfather, David Bailey Jr., 32 Park View Ave., Lewistown; brothers and sister, Steven Jones, Forth Worth, TX, Tony Jones, Baltimore, MD, Robert Jones, Lewistown, Douglas Bailey, Lewistown and Christine Jones, Lewistown; and half-brothers, Rick Jones, Fort Worth, TX and Toby Lee Barton, Phoenix, AZ. He graduated in 1977 from Chief Logan High School. He worked as a tile setter in the construction industry. He was United States Army veteran, having served 1977-1980 in the U.S. and Germany. Services were held Tuesday at Davis Funeral Chapel, Forth Worth, TX. Interment with full military honors was in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery for Veterans, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX.

Harry Bryce Jordon
MILROY &endash; Harry Bryce Jordon, 56, formerly of Milroy, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, in the Blair County Valley View Nursing Home, Altoona. Born July 27, 1945, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Arthur and Anna M. (Hassinger) Jordon. Surviving are a daughter, Cheryl, wife of Michael Goss of Milroy; a sister, Lettie Kenawell of Altoona; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, William Jordan, and an infant daughter, Anna Catherine Jordon. He was previously employed by Jay-Wood and Village Custom Kitchens, both in Milroy, and by the Orange County Review of Orange County, Va. He had attended Kishacoquillas High School. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in New Lancaster Valley Cemetery.

Elizabeth H. Junod
MECHANICSBURG - Elizabeth H. Junod, 81, of Mechanicsburg, died at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2001, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. Born Nov. 2, 1919, in Mifflin, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Hazel M. (Powell) Oren. Her husband, Alvin E. Junod, died Dec. 31, 1972. She is survived by a daughter, Hazel L. Ream of Mechanicsburg, seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, William A. Junod and two brothers, Jesse Oren and Lee Oren. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Sunday School Class No. 11, Mifflin and a life member of the Mifflintown VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards and playing bingo. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Mifflin, with the Rev. James Harper officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown. Friends may call 9:30 a.m. until the time of the services Thursday at the church. The Guss Funeral Home, 20 South Third Street, Mifflintown, is in charge of arrangements.
