McALISTERVILLE - Richard E. Kepler, 74, of McAlisterville, died at 8:55 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2001, at the Lewistown Hospital. Born June 4, 1927, in Meadville, he was the son of the late George L. and Marie M. Custead (Brucker) Kepler. His wife, Doris M. (Cornelius) Kepler, whom he married Nov. 22, 1948, survives. Also surviving are: children, John R. Kepler of Altoona and Daniel W. Kepler and Kathleen M. Graham, both of McAlisterville; brother and sisters, R. Gary Kepler of Santa Ana, CA, Helen M. Schrek of Englewood, CO and Marlene M. Mickle of Meadville; a stepmother, Margaret (Gorman) Kepler of Holiday, FL; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was a graduate of St. Agatha High School in Meadville in 1945 and attended both Allegheny College and the University of Virginia. He served in the United States Army from 1945 until 1947 and in the United States Army Reserves until 1950. He was employed by Ben Franklin Stores as a store opening manager, based out of Chicago, IL, and as a store manager in Mifflintown until his retirement in Nov. 1989. He was also employed as the Shawnee District Executive for the Juniata Valley Council Boy Scouts of America, and by the United Parcel Service, both of Reedsville. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, McAlisterville, where he sang in the choir and was vice president of the Parish Planning Council. He was also an organizer and past president of the Juniata River Stamp Club; a member of the American Philatelic Society and the Capital City Philatelic Society; a former member of the Fayette Lions Club; a former member of the Mifflin-Juniata United Way; and was a reader for the Central Area Radio Readers Service. He enjoyed stamp collecting, fishing and traveling. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, McAlisterville, with the Rev. James Park Bricker and the Rev. John A. Rocco officiating. Interment will follow in the Lost Creek Presbyterian Cemetery, McAlisterville. Friends may call 4-9 p.m. Friday at the Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home, 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville, where the family will be present 7-9 p.m. A rosary service will follow the viewing at the funeral home.
LEWISTOWN - Harold R. "Doc" Kepner, 76, a resident of Ohesson Manor, Lewistown, formerly of 352 Terrace Blvd., Lewistown, died at 3:15 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2001, at the nursing home. Born Oct. 27, 1924, in Milford Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Norman F. and Erma J. (Yohn) Kepner. His wife, Euzene V. (Briggs) Kepner, preceded him in death on Aug. 3, 1994. He is survived by: three sons, Dennis R. Kepner and Douglas N. Kepner, both of Lewistown, and Robert H. Kepner of Burnham; three daughters, Mrs. William (Vicki) Kepner of McClure and Mrs. Dan (Teresa) Dudick and Mrs. David (Marlene) Kauffman, both of Lewistown; a sister, Mrs. Stephen (Betty) O'Neil of Enola; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a step-mother, Mildred R. (Quay) Kepner. He was Lutheran by faith. He was an engineer supervisor for Lewistown Specialty Yarns. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II in the European/African Theatre. He was a life member of the Blue Juniata Beagle Club and a member of the Lewistown School District Board of Directors. Services will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald A. Krum officiating. Private interment will be at Belleville Lutheran Cemetery in Belleville. Family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday at the funeral home. VFW Post 7011 will provide full military services at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Blue Juniata Beagle Club, c/o Douglas N. Walter Alan Kepner, 51, of 119 N. Grand St., Lewistown, died at home on Oct. 27, 2001, where he resided with Sue Scott and children. Born Oct. 6, 1950, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Walter E. Kepner and the late Mildred M. Dressler. He is survived by: stepmother, Betty Kepner of Lewistown; four children, three grandchildren, one brother and three sisters. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of The Owls Nest, Lewistown. He was last employed by Metlmex Corp. of Lewistown. A private memorial service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Treatment Center at Lewistown Hospital, Lewistown, PA 17044.
MOUNT PLEASANT MILLS - Troy Kerlin, 32, of Mount Pleasant Mills RR2, died at 7:51 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, from injuries suffered in an industrial accident at Apex Home Inc., Middlecreek Township, Middleburg. Born Dec. 6, 1968, in Lewisburg, he was the son of Earl and Diane (Chubb) Longacre of Richfield RR2. His wife, Tischelle Marie (Shetter) Kerlin, whom he married June 10, 1995, survives. Also surviving are: a son, Bo Tyler Kerlin, at home; stepson, Austin Leigh Willow, at home; sisters, Mrs. Albert (Tammy) Tompkins Jr., Mount Pleasant Mills RR2 and Mrs. James (Robin) Weller, Richfield RR2; and maternal grandparents, Willard and Sadie Chubb, Mount Pleasant Mills RR2. He was preceded in death by a sister, Teresa Chubb in 1967 and paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Guy Longacre. He was employed by Apex Homes Inc. as a foreman over final finishing since June 1990. He was Protestant by faith. He was very active in the Oriental Softball Association. He was a sports enthusiast of all kinds, loved hunting and NASCAR racing. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Richfield Evangelical Methodist Church, HCR 72, Richfield, with the Rev. Roy R. McCarty officiating and Pastor Michele C. Morgan assisting. Interment will be in Dressler's Ridge United Methodist Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Mills RR2. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Richfield Evangelical Methodist Church, HCR 72, Box 24, Richfield, PA 17086 or to Dressler's Ridge United Methodist Church, c/o Pastor Michele C. Ruth A. Kerstetter, 84, of Liverpool, died Oct. 25, 2001, at Brookline Manor Nursing Home. Her service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the George P. Garman Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Millerstown RR2, followed by a dinner at St. John's U. M. Church. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. ALLENSVILLE - David E. Ketner, 79, of 292 Water St., Allensville, died at noon Monday, March 5, 2001, at the Lewistown Hospital. Born March 10, 1921, in Henrietta, he was a son of the late Chalmer and Sadie E. (Barnett) Ketner. His wife, Marjorie M. (Worthing) Ketner, whom he married July 26, 1941, survives. Also surviving are: children, D. Ronald Ketner, Oakville, Mrs. Miles (Connie D.) Westover, Williamsburg, Mrs. Arlan (Dorcas E.) Kratz, Millmont, Mrs. Dennis L. (Joanna R.) Ritchey, Mercersburg, Mrs. Richard A. (Lois) Yoder, Allensville, Sarah Columna, Laurel, Del., Mrs. Thomas (Phebe D.) Bickert, Lewistown, and Mrs. Marvin (Lydia E.) Yoder, Belleville; brothers and sisters, Robert Ketner, Everett, C. Raymond Ketner, Thomasville, Ga., Mary Pearson and Rose McNally, both of Martinsburg, Jean Daugherty, Lakemont, and Shirley Whittlesy, Oklahoma; 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. He was an electrician and carpenter and had worked at the railroad shops in Altoona; for Shuler and Adler Homes; and was last employed at Allensville Planing Mill. He was a member of the Big Valley Brethren in Christ Church, Belleville. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Big Valley Brethren in Christ Church, 81 Wagner St., Belleville, with the Rev. John M. Keefer officiating. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Belleville. Family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. today at the church. Bohn Funeral Home, 55 N. Main St., Reedsville, is in charge of arrangements.
MILROY - Bradly Lee Kibe II, 22, of 128 Creek Drive, Milroy, died at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at his residence. Born July 14, 1978, in Huntingdon, he was the son of Bradly L. Sr. and Debbie J. (McConaughey) Kibe of 128 Creek Drive, Milroy. He is survived by a companion, Heather Jo LeFevre, Lewistown. Also surviving are: children, Paige Nikole Kibe and Bradly Lee Kibe III, both of Lewistown; sister and brother, Cynthia Marie Kibe, Mexico and Brian Daniel Kibe, Milroy; paternal grandfather, Melvin E. Kibe, Milroy; and maternal grandmother, Lorma Catherine McConaughey, Shirleysburg. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with the Rev. Douglas D. Sabin officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
BELLEVILLE - Derek Austin King, 2 months and 4 days old, of 6331 SR 655, Belleville, died at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2001, at St. Christopher Children's Hospital, Philadelphia. Born April 5, 2001, in Huntingdon, he was the son of Myron J. and Mary Ellen (Yoder) King of 6331 SR 655, Belleville. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Valley View Amish Mennonite Church, Belleville, with Bishop Eli King, David S. King and Earl Peachey officiating. BELLEVILLE - Elsie L. King, 80, of 102 Greenwood Road, Belleville, died at 6:27 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at Beverly Health Care-William Penn, Lewistown. Born July 8, 1921, in Belleville, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Mary (Peachey) Byler. She was the wife of David H. King, who she married on Sept. 17, 1950. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, Keith E. King of Lewistown; three foster children, Edward P. Fleischer of Carlisle, Timothy L. Haigh of Lewistown and Debbie Reese of Strasburg; five grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Naomi Zook of Belleville; and a brother, Allen Byler of Belleville. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Kreider. She was a homemaker and a member of the Allensville Mennonite Church, Hannah's Helpers Sunday School class and the Senior Sewing Circle. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Allensville Mennonite Church with the Rev. Philip Barr officiating. Interment will be in Allensville Mennonite Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Baggus Funeral Home, 3813 W. Main St., Belleville. Memorials may be made to Allensville Mennonite Church, P.O. Box 35, Allensville, PA 17002.
