JACKSONVILLE, FL - Rev. John R. Knaul, 83, of Jacksonville, FL, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, in Jacksonville, FL. Born March 27, 1918, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Robert and Mary (Hagerman) Knaul. His first wife of 47 years, Leona (Fisher) Knaul, preceded him in death. His second wife, Louise (Warner) Knaul of Belleville, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Joe (Naomi) Campbell, Mrs. Doug (Marie) Trabert, and Robert S. Knaul; stepchildren, J. Rex Warner, Belleville and Sheila Dillree, Lewistown; and four grandchildren. He graduated from Susquehanna University and the Gettysburg Seminary. He was a retired Lutheran minister, having served three churches in Pennsylvania, prior to moving to Melbourne, FL in 1958, where he served St. Paul's Lutheran Church for 24 years. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, at the Joy Lutheran Church, 3174 Jupiter Boulevard, S.E., Palm Bay, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Joy Lutheran Church, 3174 Jupiter Boulevard, S.E., Palm Bay, FL 32909 or to the charity of one's choice. The Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, Jacksonville, FL, is in charge of arrangements.
BELLEVILLE - Elsie E. Knepp, 83, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, died at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2001, at Valley View Haven. Born June 2, 1917, in Belleville, she was the daughter of the late Charles M. and Anna E. (Mitchell) Fultz. Her husband, W. Jerry Knepp, whom she married Sept. 28, 1935, died Jan. 3, 1984. She is survived by children, Mrs. Ronald (Geraldine) Carson, Belleville, Mrs. John (Jane) McKinley, State College, and Thomas R. Knepp, Lewistown; brothers and sisters, Ivie Manbeck and Isabelle Lykens, both of Tyrone, Gertrude Peters, Mifflintown, June Fultz and Josephine Newman, both of Lewistown and Mrs. Daniel (Joyce) Hostetler, Milroy; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, W. James Knepp in 1973; two brothers, Lloyd Fultz and Charles Fultz; and one sister, Winifred Allison. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Belleville and The Knotters. She enjoyed making crafts, quilting and crossword puzzles. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John Lutheran Church, Belleville, with the Rev. Lois Martin and the Rev. Ralph Wilson officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, 3813 W. Main St., Belleville. MCCLURE - Eugene E. Knepp, 79, of 22 S. Zeller St., McClure, died at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2001, at his residence. Born Dec. 31, 1921, in McClure, he was a son of the late Ralph J. and Sabina (Reitz) Knepp. His wife, Lorraine (Marshall) Knepp, whom he married on Jan. 3, 1946, survives. Also surviving are: children, Lynn E. Knepp, Hummelstown, and Lee E. Knepp, McClure; sisters, Thelma M. Goss and Evelyn I. Goss, both of McClure; and grandchildren, Amy R. Knepp and Brion P. Knepp. He was preceded in death by: brothers, Glenn H. Knepp and Park A. Knepp; and sisters, Gladys C. Barr and Phyllis L. Knepp, an infant sister. He was a 1941 graduate of McClure High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater. He was employed at the American Viscose Division of FMC Corp. for 32 years in the cake converting department and later in maintenance at Midd-West School District for 17 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, McClure. His service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 16 W. Specht St., McClure, with the Rev. Beth Ann L. Stone officiating. Interment will be in McClure Union Cemetery. Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church. The Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements. BELLEVILLE - Melissa R. Knepp, 75, of Valley View Retirement Community, Belleville, formerly of Rural Centre Hall, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Valley View. Born July 30, 1925, in Tusseyville, she was the daughter of the late Verna Wynn. She was raised by the late Arthur and Bertha Holderman. Her husband, Walter J. Knepp of Valley View Retirement Community, Belleville, whom she married Nov. 24, l943, survives. Also surviving are: children, Rilla K. Yocum and James A. Knepp, both of Lewistown, Darlene B. Cramer of New York, Barbara A. Pennepacker of Reedsville, and Sandra J. Cecco of Centre Hall; a brother, Charles Wynn of New York; 15 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Jaylena Young and a great-grandson, Robert Eugene Pennepacker. She graduated from Centre Hall-Potter Township High School in 1943. Early in life, she worked at Millheim Hosiery Mill, and later at Penn State University in housing and food service. For 17 years, she worked at Hills Department Store in State College, retiring in 1989. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, Colyer, and the Woman's Societv of Christian Service at the church. She also played in the Spring Mills Band and was a Silver Star Mother with the Salvation Army. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, with Captain Charles Niedermyer and Major John Cramer of the Salvation Army officiating. Interment will be in Zion Hill Cemetery, Colyer. Friends may call 7-9 p. m. YEAGERTOWN - Robert M. Knepp, 71, of 113 Clover Ave., Yeagertown, died at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, Lewistown. Born April 1, 1929, in Yeagertown, he was the son of the late Merle A. and Edith A. (Lockett) Knepp. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Prestie (Judith) Headings III, 115 Clover Ave., Yeagertown, one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd A. Knepp in 1995. He was a 1948 graduate of Yeagertown High School and attended Thompson Institute. He had worked at Wyler's Eggs and Kline Brothers Eggs and retired in 1988 from Gardenview Eggs. He was Methodist by faith. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. David Schmuck officiating. Interment will be in Belleville Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call 12:30 p.m. until the time of service Thursday at the funeral home. SCHWENKSVILLE - Shelley D. Knepp, 48, of Schwenksville, died at 11:50 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2001, at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, following a brief illness. Born Dec. 11, 1952, she was a daughter of Thelma Faye Snook of Paoli and the late Willis Henry Knepp Jr. She is survived by: a brother, Craig A. Knepp, Buffalo Grove, Ill.; and two nieces. Until her illness, she worked for Certainteed Corp., Valley Forge, Penn Walt Corp., Elf Aquipain and Atafino Chemicals, as an administrative assistant and executive secretary. She was a 1970 graduate of Conestoga High School, Berwyn. She attended Penn State University as an interior design major. She was a member of the Church of the Savior, Wayne. She was a pianist and enjoyed painting and sketching and reading. Services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Beavertown chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, with the Rev. Kevin Brophy officiating. Interment will be in the Black Oak Ridge Cemetery, McClure RR2. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. PAOLI - Willis Henry Knepp Jr., 74, of Paoli, formerly of Lewistown, died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at Paoli Memorial Hospital. Born March 13, 1926, in McClure, he was a son of the late Willis H. and Selma (Rauch) Knepp. His wife, Thelma Faye Snook, whom he married in 1951, survives. He is also survived by children, Shelley D. Knepp, Schwenksville and Craig A. Knepp, Buffalo Grove, Ill.; two grandchildren. sisters and brothers, Joy E. Haines and Jack H. Knepp, both of McClure RR1, Judy A. Weader, Danville, Elrose E. Knepp, McClure RR2 and Gerald E. Knepp, Middleburg. He served in the US Army Air-Force from 1944-1945, serving at Chanute Air Force Base and Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from McClure High School in 1944 and from Bucknell University in 1949 with degrees in mathematics and chemical engineering. After leaving Bucknell he worked for the Environmental Protection Agency. He retired from Avtex Fibers after many years in production planning and control. He had also worked for the former American Viscose, and FMC before being transferred to Avtex, Front Royal, Va. Following retirement he sold cars for Wayne Ford-Buick, Wayne. He taught Sunday School in his younger years. He enjoyed baseball, especially the Cardinals, cars, hunting, fishing, and was an avid Bucknell and Penn State football fan. Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the Beavertown chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown. Family will receive friends 12:30 p.m. until the time of service Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. LEWISTOWN - Merle E. Knepper, 88, of Beverly Healthcare William Penn Nursing Home, Lewistown, and formerly of Kish Apartments, Lewistown, died at 9:49 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Jan. 3, 1913, in Mapleton Depot, he was the son of the late William J. and Leah A. (Bolster) Knepper. His wife, Bessie Mae (Gill) Knepper, preceded him in death on Dec. 12, 1990. Surviving are: children, Larry E. Knepper, Reedsville, Glenn A. Knepper, Bridgeport, WV, Joyce A. Yoder, RD3 Lewistown, Mrs. Jon (Nancy) Dobson, RD1 Lewistown, and Richard L. Knepper, New Cumberland; a brother, Ira V. Knepper, RD1 Lewistown; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters. Early in life, he was employed at Sparrows Point Shipyard, Baltimore, MD, later Beaver Brothers Bakery, and American Viscose Corporation. His last employer was Sperry New Holland, Belleville, in plant service for 20 years before retiring in 1976. He was in the U.S. Army during WW II in the 746 Tank Battalion European Theatre and winner of two Purple Heart Awards. His memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Michael Allwein officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown, with Graveside Military Rites by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown. Friends may call at 10 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. There will be no viewing.
