EBENSBURG - Elsie E. Knepp, 84, formerly of RD#4 Lewistown and a resident of The Selinsgrove Ctr. for 45 years, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at Laurel Crest Rehabilitation & Special Care Ctr., Ebensburg. Born July 28, 1917, in Bratton Township, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. Knepp and Jennie E. (Smith) Knepp. She is survived by a sister, Sarah Trego, 9 Rosemont Ave., Lewistown. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.. She was a member of Evangel Baptist Church, Lewistown. Private services were held at the convenience of the family at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Rosalie Smith officiating. Interment was at Mattawana Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to: Mifflin County Retarded Citizens Assoc., P.O. Box 343, Lewistown, PA 17044.
STATE COLLEGE - Jeanne S. Kober, 85, of 1406-A Plaza Drive, State College, died at 3 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at her residence. Born June 20, 1916, in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Phyllis (Adler) Taub. She was preceded in death by her husband, Saul W. Kober, in 1958. Surviving are: children, Suzan A. Sargent, Philadelphia and Milton H. Kober, State College; brothers and sisters, Herbert Taub, Helen Saluda and Ruthe Schaitkin, all of State College; and one grandchild, Sharon Sargent. She was court clerk for the Supreme Court of New York for 17 years, before retiring in 1982. Her service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 30 at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Mr. David Schaitkin officiating. Interment will be at Ohev Shalom Cemetery, Lewistown. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sun Home Health Services, Inc., Hospice, 61 Duke St., Northumberland, PA 17857.
LEWISTOWN - Clara K. Kohler, 79, of E-13, Lawler Place, Lewistown, formerly of Snook Hill Road, Lewistown, died at 5:26 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 2001, at the Lewistown Hospital. Born Sept. 10, 1921, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Willes F. and Mary (Hartley) Grose. Her husband, Harry E. Kohler, whom she married June 28, 1941, survives. Also surviving are: children, Katherine A. Miller, Granville, Harry E. Kohler, Sayre, and Marvin L. Kohler, 113 Snook Hill Road, Lewistown; sisters and brother, Edith Baker, Kish Apartments, Lewistown, Mrs. Harry (Anna) Hain and Charles F. Grose, both of Lewistown, and Bertha Jane Cromwell, Colorado; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Louise Kohler; a grandson, Derrick Kohler; and four brothers. She was a homemaker and Baptist by faith. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Lewistown and the Pensioneers Club. She was also a life member of the Granville Fire Company ladies auxiliary. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Jeffrey D. McCleary officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of the service Sunday at the funeral home, at which time the Women of the Moose will hold a brief service at 1:45 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice: The Bridge, 1126 W. Fourth St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
GULFPORT, FL - Ruth Eveline Komp, 88, of Gulfport, FL, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2001. She was born March 7, 1924, in Wilmerding. Her husband, John Komp of Gulfport, FL, survives. Also surviving are: a sister, Betty Schattschneider of Sarasota, FL, and brothers, James Charlesworth of Lewistown and George Charlesworth of North Versallies. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marybelle Rice Richards of Lewistown. She was a Protestant by faith. She was an American Red Cross volunteer and a member of the Boca Ciega Yacht Club of Gulfport, FL. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The Good Earth Crematory, 501 17th Ave. W. Bradenton, FL 34205, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the local chapter of the American Red Cross or Boca Ciega Yacht Club, 4600 Tifton Dr., Gulfport, FL 33711.
PORT ROYAL - Edward A. Konoza, 83, of Port Royal died at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001 at Lewistown Hospital. Born Sept. 30, 1917 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Michael and Palagiya (Fokczinska) Konoza. His wife Patricia (Donhauser) Konoza survives. He was the loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather of his three children, Edward J. Konoza of Macungie, Joseph E. Konoza of Boyertown and Linda P. Cory of Pottstown, his five grandchildren and his three great-grandchildren, who survive. Also surviving are step-children, Richard E. Krohn Jr. and Michael Krohn, both of Malvern and Carol A. Zeiders of Port Royal; a sister, Leona Anasiewicz of Norristown; and four step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joey Cory, and by two brothers and a sister, Stanley Konoza, Michael Konoza and Sophie Chest. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, having received the Army of Occupation Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church, Mifflintown, the Polish Catholic Union of America-Society 31, and also a member of the Coates-Wafer VFW. He enjoyed gardening and landscaping. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Jude's Catholic Church, Mifflintown, with the Rev. Lawrence R. Coakly officiating. Interment will be in St. Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery in the Licking Creek valley, where the Juniata County Veterans Council will provide military honors. Friends may call from 1 p.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Future Planning and Development of St. Jude's church, RR4, Mifflintown, PA 17059. Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown is in charge of arrangements.
BELLEFONTE - David Kosman II, 34, of 126 Benner Road, Bellefonte, died of natural causes Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at Centre Community Hospital, State College. Born May 25, 1966, in Lewistown, he was the son of David and Sharon (Watson) Kosman of Zion. Surviving are: sons, Zachary David Kosman, Chase Michael Kosman and Conner Matthew Kosman, all at home; a sister, Susan Kosman of Bellefonte; and his fiancee, Anna Marie Stewart of Lewistown and her two sons, Sean and Christopher. He was a 1984 graduate of Bellefonte High School and a graduate of Williamsport Community College. He was a heavy equipment mechanic, specializing in crane repairs. He was Protestant by faith. He was a member of Local Union No. 66 International Union of Operating Engineers and he was a union steward at L.B. Smith Inc., Pleasant Gap. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Zion United Methodist Church of Christ, with the Rev. Warren G. Somers officiating. Interment will be in Zion Union Cemetery, Walker Township. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Wetzler Funeral Home, Bellefonte and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the church. MCALISTERVILLE - Truman L. "Pete" Kramer Jr., 71, of McAlisterville RR2, died at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Brookline Manor, Mifflintown RR1. Born Sept. 16, 1929, in McAlisterville, he was the son of the late Truman L. Sr. and Dorothy (Smith) Kramer. His wife, Phyllis G. (Foose) Kramer, whom he married July 18, 1951, survives. He is also survived by children, Mike Kramer, McAlisterville and Mrs. Jeff (Kathy) Kurtz, Paxinos; brother and sister, Donald Kramer, Alabama and Ruth Hepner, McAlisterville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He attended Fayette Grammar School, McAlisterville. He served in the United States Army Reserves from 1951 until 1959. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Susquehanna Quarries, Cumberland County and for D.E. Smith, Mifflintown, until his retirement in 1991. He attended McAlisterville United Methodist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed being outdoors and going to yard sales. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home, 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with the Rev. Karl R. Herman officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville, where full military honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Council. Friends may call 9 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
BEAVERTOWN - Marian Arlene Kreamer, 66, of Beavertown, died at 10:55 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Williamsport Hospital. Born Dec. 12, 1934, in Spring Township, Snyder County, she was the daughter of the late George and Anna (Smith) Reich. Her husband, Paul R. Kreamer, whom she married in 1950, survives. Surviving are: children, Mrs. Glenn A. (Donna J.) Gardner Jr., Beaver Springs RR1, James R. Kreamer, Beaver Springs, and Kenneth L. Kreamer, Beavertown; sisters and brothers, Mrs. Clark (Julia) Keister, Middleburg RR2, Mrs. Lloyd (Phyllis) Swanger, New Berlin, George Richard Reich, Salem, Dale Reich, Beavertown, and Norman Reich, Beavertown RR1; seven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters and two step-great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lucy, in infancy, Helen Hood and Marjorie Ettinger; and three brothers, Harold, Donald and Carl Reich. She retired in 1990 from the former Beavertown Weaving Mill, after 25 years of service as an inspector. She was a member of the Port Ann Wesleyan Church, Middleburg RR1. She enjoyed reading, attending church and spending time with her family. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Port Ann Wesleyan Church, Middleburg RR1, with the Rev. James Leininger officiating. Interment will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery. Friends may call 4:30.-9 p.m. Sunday at the Beavertown chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes, where family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Port Ann Wesleyan Church, RR1, Box 279A, Middleburg, PA 17842.
