LEWISTOWN - Mary I. Kreger, 76, of 26 W. Market St., Lewistown, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2001, at her residence. Born Oct. 17, 1925, in Reedsville, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Agnes (Shearer) Paden. Her first husband, Walter Bousum, died in 1971 and her second husband, Gerrett Kreger, died in 1973. Surviving are: children, Barbara Bushland, Petersburg, Robert Bousum, Florida, Sara Schultheis, Tennessee, and Iva Bousum, Illinois; brothers and sisters, Cloyd Paden, Thomas Paden, and Mrs. Al (Barbara) Wilson, all of Belleville and Jane Couch, Petersburg; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Paden. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Douglas Sherlock Jr. officiating. Interment will be private. There will be no viewing.
LEWISTOWN - Charles E. Krepps, 53, of 22 Blue Juniata Drive, Lewistown, died at 12:43 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2001, in the emergency room at Lewistown Hospital. Born Oct. 12, 1947, in Reedsville, he was the son of Alma (Headings) Krepps of 22 Blue Juniata Drive, Lewistown and the late Lawrence B. Krepps. His wife, Jean (Romig) Krepps, whom he married Aug. 21, 1999, survives. Also surviving are: three children, Christopher M. Krepps and Cathie M. Krepps, both of Lewistown and Jeremy Macomber, Belleville; and a brother, Lawrence B. Krepps Jr., Reedsville. He was a 1966 graduate of Kishacoquillas High School. He was a US Army veteran of Vietnam War. He was a tractor-trailer driver and had worked for Wright Construction. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Siglerville and its Sunday school. He was also a member of the AARP, the NRA, the North American Hunting Club, the VFW, the American Legion, and five area fire companies. His service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Siglerville, with Pastor Rosalie N. Smith officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. LEWISTOWN - Margaret A. "Peg" Krist, 70, of 494 W. Fourth St., Lewistown, died at 5:43 a.m., on Friday, July 13, 2001, at Hershey Medical Center. Born May 19, 1931, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Ephraim M. Moist and the late Elsie M. (Searer) Moist. She is survived by: two sons, Steven Krist, of Lewistown, and Mark Krist, Harrisburg; a sister, Dorothy Righter, of Lewistown; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters. Mary Alice Moist and Janet Wilson. She was employed as a cashier at Red's Diner and a home nutritionist. She was an avid Philadelphia sports fan. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 16, at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Dan Smith officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be at Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 551, Lewistown, PA, 17044.
LEWISTOWN - Donna L. Krot, 64, of 352 West Fifth St., Lewistown, died at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at her residence. Born Feb. 16, 1937, in Naginey, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ruth Elizabeth (Kurtz) Berich. Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Christine) White, 712 W. Fourth St., Lewistown; brothers and sisters, Robert E. Berich, Gardenview, Reedsville, Mary E. Thompson, Milroy, Richard J. Berich, Reedsville, Carole L. Henderson, Belleville; and three granddaughters. She was a production employee at Fisher Electronics/Sanyo for over 25 years, retiring in 1996. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Mifflin/Juniata American Cancer Society, 26 N. Brown St., Lewistown, PA 17044 or to Hospice: The Bridge, 1126 W. MOUNTAIN TOP - Flora E. Laite, 92, of 185 S. Mountain Boulevard, Mountain Top, formerly of Lansford, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at her residence. Born in Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Simms. Her husband, the Rev. Chesley H. Laite, survives. Also surviving are: three sons, Murray Laite of Lewistown, Reginald Laite of Tarrytown, NY, and Berkeley Laite of Chambersburg; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son, Gordon, who passed away in 2000; and four sisters, Rowena Simms, Elsie Snow, Ivy Lacey, and Flossie Taylor. She graduated from school in New Foundland. She was a member of the English Congregational Church, Lansford and the Order of the Eastern Star. Her service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the English Congregational Church, 47 W. Ridge St, Lansford, with the Rev. Wayne Benack DD officiating. Interment will be in Sky View Memorial Park, Tamaqua. Friends may call noon until the time of the service Tuesday at the church. LEWISTOWN - Hannah Mary Lamb, 89, of 2603 U.S. Highway 522 N., Lewistown, died at 10:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at Ohesson Manor. Born June 15, 1912, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late C. Wayne and Mary E. (Crissman) Snyder. Her husband, James Walter Lamb, whom she married June 9, 1942, survives. Also surviving are: several nieces and nephews, Samuel MacElwee, Hummelstown, Jacquelyn Wilson, Shermansdale, Joanne Slesser, Harrisburg, and John R. Snyder, Hershey. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Cynthia Jo, and is the last of her immediate family having been preceded in death by two sisters and a brother. She was Supervisor of Beaming Department F.M.C and later a ward clerk at the Lewistown Hospital Emergency Room. She was a member of the Fame Ambulance Company during WWII. She helped start the Lewistown Shelter where she volunteered, and was a Lewistown Hospital volunteer for 30 years with over 6000 hours. She was the chairperson for the hospital fair for three years, a member and volunteer of the PA Association of Older People, and a member of The Mental Health association, the F.M.C. Supervisors Club and the Lewistown Hospital Auxiliary. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bethel AMC Church, 23 Juniata St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Bernard Carpenter officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Bethel AMC Church, 23 Juniata St., Lewistown, Pa 17044, or to Lewistown Hospital Auxiliary, 400 Highland Ave., Lewistown, Pa 17044. LEWISTOWN - Jay Scott Landes, 43, of 1016 Parcheytown Road, Lewistown, died at 9:41 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, 2001, at Hershey Medical Center. Born Sept. 30, 1957, in Lansdale, he was the foster son of Norman and Edith King of Allensville. His wife, Fay A. (Beal) Landes, whom he married Aug. 7, 1976, survives. Also surviving are: children, Jeremy Scott Landes and Cecil Jacob Landes, at home, Jason Lyn Landes, Parkview Avenue, Lewistown; brothers and sisters, Darlene Hartzell and Dennis Landes, Lansdale, Will Landes, St. Petersburg, FL and Les Landes, Allentown; foster brothers, Donald Himelright, Sunbury and Manuel Irizarry, Lewistown; and three grandchildren. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a parts manager for three years at Faulkner Pontiac, Harrisburg, and was also a security guard for McDonald's, Mifflintown. He was previously employed as an assistant parts manager at Calkin's Automotive, Burnham. He was Mennonite by faith. The service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Wesley E. King officiating. Interment will be in Allensville Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Beth-El Mennonite Church, Belleville, PA 17004.
AUGUSTA, GA - Gerald Fenton Larson, 57, of Augusta, GA, formerly of Lewistown, died Friday, June 8, 2001, at the V.A. Hospital in Augusta, GA. Born Feb. 6, 1944, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late William John and Katherine Claudine (Hess) Larson. He is survived by a companion, Jill Pemberton of Augusta, GA. Also surviving are: children, Gerald F. Larson Jr. and Wendy Sue Larson, both of California; brothers and sisters, William J. Larson, Katherine C. Laub, Arthur L. Larson, all of Lewistown, Larry L. Larson, Fort Myers, FL, and DyAnn K. Wilson, Rockwood, TN; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Leona Rebecca (Larson) Hudson on Jan. 2, 2001. He attended Lewistown High School. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and received a medical discharge. His remains were donated to the Medical College of Georgia for research. Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
