MCALISTERVILLE - Warren J. Brown, 31, of McAlisterville, died at 12:55 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, of injuries resulting from a motorcycle/vehicle accident. Born July 3, 1969, in Wurtzburg, Germany, he was the son of Joseph W. Brown, Chambersburg and Bonnie L. Rumbutis, St. Petersburg, Fla. His companion, Laura Hart, McAlisterville, survives. Also surviving are: a daughter, Amanda Wagner, Lewistown; a son, Dylan Kramer, Thompsontown; and a brother, Chip J. Brown, McClure. He had attended East Juniata High School, Cocolamus. He was employed for the past three years as a mechanic at Kerstetter's Garage, Richfield RR. He was a member of ABATE of Pennsylvania. He enjoyed hunting and working on cars. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home, 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home.
MIFFLINTOWN - Frances E. Brubaker, 79, of Berry's Personal Care Center, Mifflintown RR1, and formerly of Port Royal RR1, died at 11:18 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Nov. 13, 1920, she was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Brubaker Sr., who died Aug. 26, 2000. Surviving are: stepsons, Melvin E. Brubaker Jr., Thompsontown RR1, Donald L. Brubaker Sr., Mount Pleasant Mills, Gary W. Brubaker, East Salem, Barry D. Brubaker, Richfield, Robert G. Brubaker, Thompsontown RR1; a step-daughter, Nancy J. Henry, Las Vegas, NV; 14 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great-grandchildren. She was a housewife. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Raymond D. Neitz officiating. Interment will be in Locust Run Cemetery, Thompsontown RR1. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
MOUNT PLEASANT MILLS - Jacob N. Brubaker, 76, of Mount Pleasant Mills RR2, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at his residence. Born Dec. 9, 1923, in Snyder County, he was a son of the late Menno and Ada (Martin) Brubaker. His wife, Orpha M. (Apple) Brubaker, whom he married Aug. 11, 1945, survives. Also surviving are: children, Orville Brubaker, Richfield RR1, Bob Brubaker, Lancaster, Dan Brubaker, Unlock Creek, Ronald Brubaker, Selinsgrove, and Bonnie Leitzel, Pennsylvania Furnace; brothers and sisters, Samuel Brubaker, Richfield, Aaron Brubaker, Lancaster, Luke Brubaker, Lititz, Ruth Ranck, Paradise, and Mary Zook, Harrisburg, Va.; 11 grandchildren and two great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul, John and David Brubaker, and one sister, Anna Brubaker. He owned and operated a farm in West Perry Township, Snyder County for 40 years. He later was employed at Kauffman Farm Supply in Mount Pleasant Mills and Empire Kosher in Mifflintown. He was a member of the Richfield Mennonite Church, where he had served as a deacon. He was also a member of the Gideons International and the Pennsylvania Farmers Association. He enjoyed attending the Middleburg Livestock Auction and public sales. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at the Richfield Mennonite Church with his son, the Rev. Dan Brubaker, officiating. Interment will be in the Richfield Union Cemetery. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International, PO Box 125, Selinsgrove, PA 17870. The George P. Garman Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant Mills, is in charge of arrangements.
PORT ROYAL - Melvin Brubaker Sr., 74, of Port Royal RR1, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2000, at his residence. Born July 15, 1926, in Delaware Township, Juniata County, he was a son of the late Jay M. and Sadie M. (Fry) Brubaker. His wife, Frances E. (Waddell) Brubaker of Berry's Personal Care, Mifflintown RR1, survives. Also surviving are: children, Melvin E. Brubaker Jr. and Robert G. Brubaker, both of Thompsontown RR1, Donald L. Brubaker Sr., Mount Pleasant Mills, Gary W. Brubaker, East Salem, Barry D. Brubaker, Richfield, and Nancy J. Henry, Las Vegas, Nev.; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was the last of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by one sister, two brothers and an infant daughter, Barbara Ann Brubaker. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He worked as a carpenter at Triangle Pacific Cabinet Corporation, Thompsontown, retiring with 42 years of service in 1991. He was a 50 year member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. James A. Neimond officiating. Interment will be in Locust Run Cemetery, Thompsontown RR1, where full military honors will be provided by the Juniata County Veterans Council. There will be no public viewing, but friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
YEAGERTOWN - Almeda O. Brumbaugh, 90, of 123 N. Mann Ave., Yeagertown, died at 4:26 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2000, at Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, Lewistown. Born Dec. 2, 1909, in Harrisburg, she was a daughter of the late William K. and Erma (Sheaffer) Orren. Her husband, Charles E. Brumbaugh, died in 1985. Surviving are: daughters, Janet L. Watson and Mrs. Larry (Mary Lou) Treaster, both of Yeagertown and Connie A. Mattern, Lititz; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by a brother, a sister, and a great-grandson. She was a member of Holy Communion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Yeagertown. She enjoyed reading and crocheting. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Philip C. Tundel officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: Holy Communion Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Main Street, Yeagertown, PA 17099.
PORT ROYAL - Ruth M. Bryner, 67, of Port Royal RR2 (Walnut), formerly of Charleston, W. Va., died at 11:20 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2000, at her home. Born Aug. 31, 1932, in Charleston, W. Va., she was a daughter of Charlotte (Belcher) Pauley of Charleston, W. Va. and the late Clyde E. Pauley. Her husband, Paul D. Bryner, died Aug. 8, 1978. Surviving are: a son, Donald E. "Tom" Bryner, Port Royal RR2 (Walnut); stepchildren, Donald L. Bryner, Russell Bryner and Vivian "Colleen" Bryner, all of Port Royal; brothers and sisters, B. G. Pauley, Jacksonville, N.C., Edward Lee Pauley, Winifred, W. Va., Larry Pauley, Maryville, Ind., William Pauley, Shirley Gunnoe, and Fonda Pauley, all of Charleston, W. Va., Dixie Marx and Nyoka Armentrout, both of Hammonds, W. Va., and Kathy Vernati, Warp's Mountain, Va.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three stepsons, Harry Bryner, Robert Bryner and George "Pete" Bryner. A graveside memorial service and interment will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at McCulloch's Mills Cemetery, with the Rev. Marton Roberson officiating. There will be no viewing. Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, is in charge of arrangements.
LEWISTOWN - Helen Mae Buchanan, 86, of Lewistown RR6, formerly of Mapleton Depot and Mount Union, died at 8:23 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2000, at Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg. Born Aug. 2, 1913 in Mapleton Depot, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Nannie Mae (Henderson) Buchanan. She lived with her cousin, Dottie Peters at Lewistown RR6 for several years. There are no surviving members in her immediate family. She was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Mapleton, where she served as the church pianist for 30 years. She was a member of the church's Cheerful Givers Sunday School Class and the United Methodist Women. She also served as pianist for the combined choir of Trinity and Grace United Methodist churches for 20 years. At the time of her death, she was a member of Wesleyan Church, Mount Union, where at one time, she assisted as pianist there. Services were held at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with Pastor Kevin Tompkins officiating. Interment was in Mapleton IOOF Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: Trinity United Methodist Church, c/o Rev. MIFFLINTOWN - Robert L. Burd, 56, of Mifflintown RR2, died at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at his home. Born Dec. 31, 1943, in Turbett Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Melvin "Andy" and Virginia (Hosler) Burd. His wife, Helen R. (Ebersole) Burd, whom he married Aug. 20, 1966, survives. Also surviving are: sons, Roger E. Burd, Port Royal and Tony L. Burd, Mifflintown RR2; a sister, Mrs. Stan (Julia) Barner, Mifflintown RR4; a brother, Ronald M. Burd, Thompsontown RR1; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Steven E. Burd. He was a retired logger. He was a member and former trustee of Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church, Mifflintown RR4. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, and camping. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church, Mifflintown RR4, with Pastor Kenneth R. Letner and Pastor Warren L. Peachey officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Mifflintown RR4. Friends may call from noon until the time of the services Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church, RR4, Box 4715, Mifflintown , PA 17059. Guss Funeral Home, 20 S.
