LEWISTOWN - Madge E. Lewis, 75, of 51 Forsythe St., Lewistown died at 11:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001 at 406 E. Walnut St., Lewistown. Born Dec. 1, 1925 in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Charles W. and Elizabeth D. (Hayden) Wedlake. Her husband Stephen J. Lewis preceded her in death on Nov. 15, 1996. Surviving are: a brother, Charles Wedlake, Pennsylvania Furnace and a granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Lewis, in 1977. She had been employed by the Princess Shop in Lewistown. She was a member of the Calvary Bible Church. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Howard Houtz officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Bible Church, 301 S. Pine St., Lewistown, PA 17044, or to HOSPICE: The Bridge, 1126 W. Fourth St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
LEWISTOWN - Ruth M. Lewis, 89, a resident of Beverly Healthcare/William Penn in Lewistown, formerly of Highland Avenue, Burnham, died at 2:20 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2001, at the nursing home. Born May 17, 1912, in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Russell E. and Lillian (Cope) Burkheiser. Her husband, William R. Lewis, preceded her in death in 1981. Surviving are: a daughter, Jean Beaver of South Walnut Street, Burnham; three sons, Richard D. Lewis of Harrisburg, William R. Lewis of Largo, FL and Warren L. Lewis of Marysville; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, R. Jay Lewis, who died in October 1999; a brother, Russell E. Burkheiser; and a sister, Dorothy J. Mooney. She was the last of her immediate family. She was a member of the Burnham Church of the Brethren. She was a homemaker. Early in her life, she was employed at Beaver Bakery and at Empire Kosher in Mifflintown. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Burnham Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Wayne W. Mast officiating. Family will receive friends at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service Monday. Interment will be held at Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown. Memorial contributions can be made to the Burnham Church of the Brethren, 541 E. Freedom Ave., Burnham, PA, 17009.
MIFFLINTOWN - Sydney Elizabeth "Betty" Lewis, 78, of Mifflintown RR3, widow of Raymond Lewis, died Friday, Oct. 26, 2001, at Locust Grove Retirement Village. Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Licking Creek Valley. Interment will be in the church Cemetery. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday at Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Maple Grove Sunday School, RR3, Mifflintown, PA 17059.
LEWISTOWN - Donald L. Liddick, 52, of 124 W. Market St., Lewistown, died on Thursday, July 12, 2001, at his residence. Born October 15, 1948 in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Frank and Carrie (Kauffman) Liddick. He is survived by: a daughter, Dawn Benner, of Granville; one sister, Nancy Jane Powers, of Lewistown; four brothers, R. Eugene Liddick, William E. Liddick, Paul R. Liddick, and Steven C. Liddick, all of Lewistown; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Howard E. Liddick. He was a production employee at Empire Kosher in Mifflintown. He was a member of: Lewistown Elks Club #663, Lewistown Owls Club, Brooklyn Hose Co., City-Hook and Ladder Fire Co., West Granville Fire Co., Highland Park Hose Co., Lewistown V.F.W. Post 7011, and Yeagertown Fire Co. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 17 at Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown, with Rev. John A. Walters officiating. There will be no viewing. Memorial contributions can be made to Bible Baptist Church, 101 N. Beech St., Burnham, PA, 17009. Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangement.
RICHFIELD - Connie Lou Liddington, 51, of RR1 Richfield, died at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held on Monday at the Turkey Valley United Methodist Church, RR2 Millerstown, with the Rev. Salvatore E. Buonocore officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, adjoining the church. Friends may call from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Sunday, at the church.
LEWISTOWN - Paul R. "Bud" Lilley, 72, of 105 Bossinger Road, Lewistown, died at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Hershey Medical Center. Born Dec. 10, 1928, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late William and Edna (Yetter) Lilley. His wife, Doris E. (James) Lilley, died Feb. 17, 1997. He is survived by children, Paul E. "Ed" Lilley, Manheim, Michael L. Lilley, Salunga, and Frances E. Lilley, Lancaster; sisters and brothers, George Lilley, Yeagertown, Mrs. Murray (Patricia) Robinson, Lewistown RR4, Bruce Lilley and Mrs. Thomas (Barbara) Aumiller, both of Lewistown RR1; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother. He was employed as a truck driver at Yellow Freight in Lancaster for 37 years, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Lewistown Moose Lodge 143 and a former member of the Lewistown Eagles Club. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Jacob T. Traxler officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Ronald McDonald House, 745 W. Governor Road, Hershey, PA 17033.
SELINSGROVE - Edward A. Lindenberger, 81, of Selinsgrove RR2, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born Aug. 29, 1919, in Burnham, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary (Arnold) Lindenberger. His wife, Daphne (Weston) Lindenberger, died in 1996. He was a graduate of Burnham High School and received his undergraduate and masters degree from Penn State University. He served with the United States Army during World War II in the South Pacific and was awarded the bronze star. He is survived by three sons, Harry F. Lindenberger, Ledyard, Conn., David A. Lindenberger, Hardwick. Vt. and James E. Lindenberger, Port Kent, NY; brothers and sisters, Richard Lindenberger, Ohio, Robert Lindenberger, Allentown, Drusilla Mumper and Irene McCardle, both of Burnham, Mary Smith of Lewistown RR, and Mildred Kline, Michigan; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Violet. He was a school teacher and was last employed as principal at the SUN VoTech School in New Berlin. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church, Sunbury. He enjoyed woodworking and wood carving. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bible Baptist Church, Sunbury, with the Rev. James Messner officiating. Interment will be made in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the church. The Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury, is in charge of arrangements.
LIVERPOOL - Emma Marie Lindquist, 48, of Liverpool RR1, Juniata County, died at 5:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2001, at her home, following a 15 month battle with cancer. Born March 31, 1953, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of Howard E. Sr. and Mary E. (Mahlin) Myers of Millerstown RR1. Her husband, Paul T. Lindquist, whom she married Oct. 20, 1972 at The Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, Liverpool, survives. Also surviving are: daughters, Mrs. Timothy P. (April Michelle) Wagner, Millerstown RR2 and Amber Noelle Lindquist, at home; brothers, Earl D. Myers, Millerstown RR2, Howard E. Myers Jr., Duncannon and Charles A. Myers, Port Royal; one granddaughter; maternal grandfather, Earl Mahlin, Meda Nipple Convalescent Home, Thompsontown RR1; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by maternal grandmother, Mona Mahlin and paternal grandparents, Park and Ethel Myers. She was a 1971 graduate of Greenwood High School, Millerstown. She was a member, administrative board chairperson, and a communion steward of the Salem United Methodist Church, Liverpool RR1. She was also parish secretary of the three United Methodist charges, Salem, Reward and Liverpool. She was a volunteer with the Aurora Club, assisting senior citizens with Girl Scout troops, especially Troop 147, Liverpool, where she was also a Daisy and Brownie leader. She was a supporter of the East Juniata Band Boosters and was well known as a substitute cook at all Juniata County schools. She enjoyed family camp at Black Lake, NY. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Liverpool United Methodist Church, 109 S. Market St., Liverpool, with the Rev. Peter M. Beddia officiating and the Rev. Louise Knotts, assisting. Interment will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, Millerstown RR2. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at the George P. Garman Funeral Home, 606 N. Front St., Liverpool and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Salem United Methodist Church, c/o Donna Kline-secretary, 109 S.
