LEWISTOWN - Hannah Elizabeth Loucks, 72, of 817 E. Walnut St., Lewistown, died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Centre Community Hospital, 1800 E. Park Ave., State College. Born Feb. 18, 1928, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late James F. and Nancy Elizabeth (Miller) Lukens. Her husband, Gordon L. Loucks, whom she married Aug. 18, 1951, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Carson (Susan) Freeman, Souderton, Mrs. William (Alice) Marsh, Greencastle, and Daniel L. Loucks, Lewistown; sister and brother, Esther Kline, Ohesson Manor, Lewistown and James F. Lukens, Lewistown; and three grandchildren. She was a 1946 graduate of Lewistown High School and a 1949 graduate of the Polyclinic Hospital School of Nursing, Harrisburg. She also attended the University of Pittsburgh in 1950. She worked as a registered nurse for FW Black Hospital and Lewistown Hospital, serving as a staff nurse and a night supervisor, retiring in 1979. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewistown, the Evangelical Lutheran Church Women, and helped to organize the Quilting Peacemakers. She was also a member of the Alter Guild and for many years a member of the Chancel Choir. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald A. Krum officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Church. There will be no viewing, but family will receive friends following the service Saturday in the fellowship hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Sanctuary Restoration Fund, Lewistown, PA 17044. Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
EAST WATERFORD - Freeburn Love, 83, of East Waterford, died at 10:50 p.m. Saturday at Brookline Manor Retirement Village, RR1 Mifflintown. Born Nov. 13, 1918, in East Waterford, he was the son of the late Silas and Jennie (Drolsbaugh) Love. His wife of 62 years, Miriam (Shearer) Love, survives. Also surviving are: a son, Norman F. Love, East Waterford; two daughters, Marlene Lauver, Pittsburgh, and Elaine Civic, Allentown; a sister, Lettie Kennedy, HC 67 Mifflin; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was a self-employed farmer. He was a member, elder and trustee of the East Waterford Presbyterian Church, served many years on the advisory board of Juniata Valley Bank, Port Royal branch, was a former director and president of the Eastern Milk Producers Cooperative, served on the board of directors of the East Waterford Cemetery Assoc., was a member of Blairs Mills Lions Club, was an active member of Pomona Grange #35 and Tuscarora Grange #774 where he was instrumental in assisting with construction of the present building, and he was an agent for the Grange Insurance Company. His service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at his church, with Pastor Howard Fritz officiating. Interment will be in the East Waterford Cemetery. Friends may call from noon-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove, where the family will be present from 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to: Tuscarora Grange #774, c/o Eleanor Peterson, treasurer, RR1 Honey Grove, PA 17035.
LIVERPOOL - Lester K. "Les" Lowe, 72, of Liverpool RR1, died at 9 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2001, at Harrisburg Hospital. Born March 26, 1929, in Duncannon RR4, he was the son of the late Albion and Thelma (Cauffman) Lowe. His wife, T. Romaine (Zaring) Lowe, whom he married Sept. 10, 1948, survives. Also surviving are: children, David W. Lowe, Liverpool RR1, Connie M. Lowe, at home, and Mrs. Thomas C. (Debra K.) Benner, Millerstown RR2; a sister, Pearl Maxwell of Duncannon; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Lowe. He was a 1947 graduate of the former Duncannon High School and held a membership in the Duncannon High School Alumni Association. He had been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad, Enola Yards, in the mailroom from 1947-1957. He owned and operated Lowe's Service Station, Liverpool, from the late 1960's until he retired in 1986. He then worked part-time for Creation Windows, Selinsgrove. He was Methodist by faith. He enjoyed traveling and doing mechanic work on cars. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the George P. Garman Funeral Home Inc., Mount Pleasant Mills, with the Rev. Ronald J. Beistline officiating. Interment will be in Liverpool Union Cemetery, Liverpool. Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home. MIFFLINTOWN - Robert E. "Bob" Lowrey, 58, of the Orangeville Nursing and Rehab Center, Orangeville, and formerly of Mifflintown, died at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born Nov. 13, 1942, in Fermanagh Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Edward E. and Florence K. (Krebbs) Lowrey Sr. Surviving are: three brothers, Jackson C. Lowrey, Mifflintown RR3, Charles S. Lowrey, Mifflin, and Richard L. Lowrey, North Ft. Myers, FL; five sisters, Marilyn V. Guyer, Thompsontown RR1, Mada A. Graham, Lewistown, Nancy J. Swartz and Laurabelle D. Lowrey, both of Mifflin, and Jenny L. Lowrey, Mifflintown; a stepsister, Helen Ranck, Brookline Manor Retirement Village, Mifflintown RR1; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward E. "Peanuts" Lowrey, who died on June 22, 1999. He had worked for the Juniata Sentinel, Mifflintown for 10 years. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown, with the Rev. Douglas M. Compton officiating. There will be no viewing. The family will provide all funeral flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice. Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, is in charge of arrangements.
BETHEL PARK - Betty A. Lucarelli, 67, of Bethel Park, died on Thursday, June 14, 2001. Born Sep. 9, 1933, she was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Lucarelli. Surviving are: children, Diane Smooke, Lewistown, Ronald J. Lucarelli of Jefferson Mills, Daniel J. Lucarelli of South Park, Donna M. McManus of Carrick and Carol M. Lucarelli of Lass Vegas, NV; sisters and brothers, Lois Rodgers, Claire Cummings, Paul Bornscheuer and Tom Bornscheuer; and eight grandchildren. She was employed at Modern Reproductions as a clerk for 26 years and was a member of St. Germaine Church in Bethel Park. Family may call 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today and Sunday at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, 4201 Brownsville Rd., Brentwood. There will be a funeral prayer at 9:15 a.m. Monday and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Germaine Church. STATE COLLEGE - Robert Lyles, 83, formerly of 193 W. Fourth St., Lewistown, died at 9:55 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, at University Park Nursing Home, State College. Born Dec. 22, 1917, in Petersburg, VA, he was a son of the late Colnel and Janie (Johnson) Lyles. His wife, Carole (Phillips) Lyles, whom he married Oct. 25, 1962, survives. Also surviving are: children, Betty J. Lyles, Steelton, Lisa L. Lyles, Richmond, VA and R. Michael Lyles, Lewistown; a brother, Colnel Lyles Jr., Harrisburg; and one grandson. He was a steelworker supervisor for 40 years at Bethlehem Steel Corporation, Steelton, retiring in 1983. His service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Bernard Carpenter officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown. MIFFLIN - Pauline L. Lyter, 41, of 117 Main St., Mifflin died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at her residence. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown. Interment will be in Adams Cemetery, Mifflintown. There will be no public viewing. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lyter Funeral Fund, in care of Barbara Partner, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, Pa., 17059.
SNELLVILLE, Ga. - Charlotte Ada Lytle, 78, of 1661 Norton Estate Circle, Snellville, Ga., formerly of Port Royal and York, died at 1 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2001, at Emory Eastside Medical Center, Snellville, Ga. Born Feb. 7, 1923, in Turbett Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Brade A. and Erie M. (Mickey) Turbett. Her husband, Robert F. Lytle of 1661 Norton Estate Circle, Snellville, Ga., whom she married June 18, 1949, survives. She is also survived by children, Mark F. Lytle, Lawrenceville, Ga. and Tammy C. Lytle, Duluth, Ga.; a brother, Donald W. Turbett, Lewistown; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters. She was a 1941 graduate of Port Royal High School. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Snellville, Ga. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Rex Funeral Home, 308 Market St., Port Royal, with the Rev. Kenneth R. Letner officiating. Interment will be in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal. Friends may call 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
