LEWISTOWN - Ross L. Maben, 86, of 95 Snook's Hill Road, Lewistown, died at 11:57 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born April 20, 1915, in Milroy, he was a son of the late John C. and Margaret M. (Johnson) Maben. His wife, Anna M. (Specht) Maben, whom he married Sept. 21, 1935, survives. Also surviving are: daughters, Anna M. Wagner, Lewistown and Mrs. Walter (Beverly) Pearson, Mifflintown; foster son, Dennis Weyant, Yeagertown; brothers and sister, Harvey Maben and Samuel Maben, both of Reedsville, Earl Maben, McClure, Charles Maben, Lewistown and Mrs. Howard (Anna) Fultz, Milroy; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, William and Joseph Maben. He was a laborer in tire fabric of the American Viscose Corporation for 25 years, retiring in 1974. He attended the Pleasant Acres Assembly of God Church. He was a life member of the Granville Fire Company and the Avisco Club for 25 years. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown, with the Rev. Harold N. Imes officiating. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Pleasant Acres Assembly of God Church, Sixth Street and Summit Drive, Lewistown, PA 17044. Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
LEWISTOWN - Albert W. Magill Jr., 34, of Rear 409 Green Ave. Ext., Lewistown, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2001, at his residence. Born March 27, 1967, in Glennfalls, NY, he was the son of Albert W. Magill Sr. of Lewistown and the late Mary (Davis) Magill. Also surviving are: a daughter, Toni Magill, at home; brothers, Thomas Magill and David Magill, both of Lewistown and Matthew Magill of Mifflintown. He was employed at Overhead Door, Lewistown. He was a member of VFW Post 7011, Lewistown. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lind Memorial Cemetery, with the Rev. Scott Reiman officiating. There will be no viewing. Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
WOODBRIDGE, VA - Genevieve R. Magnussen, 89, who resided with her daughter at 3193 Arrowhead Court, Woodbridge, VA and formerly of McVeytown RD1, died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2001, at the Inova Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, VA. Born March 24, 1912, in Claysburg, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Lilly Mary Randolph. She was preceded in death on Jan. 3, 1991, by her husband, Birger Magnussen, whom she married on Oct. 10, 1936, in New York, NY. Surviving are: a daughter, Linda Magnussen Mino, Woodbridge, VA; a sister, Dorothy Zilinkis, Key Capri, FL; a brother, Johnny Randolph, Mill Creek; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Iver Magnussen and brothers and sisters, Evelyn Fagan, Mildred Suchin, Carl Randolph and Virginia Randolph. She attended the Mount Union Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Her funeral service is at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Robert D. Health Funeral Home, 61 E. Shirley St., Mount Union, with Pastor William Wollett officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Union Cemetery. Friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m. until the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
BELLEVILLE - Clara C. Manbeck, 83, of Valley View Haven, Belleville, died at 1:20 a.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2001, at Valley View Haven. Born Jan. 9, 1918, in Mattawana, she was the daughter of the late Samuel B. and Nancy C. (Frainey) Carr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl S. Manbeck, who died in 1972. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lewistown. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Valley View Haven. There will be no viewing. Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
STEELTON - Catherine M. Marickovic, 85, of 641 N. Third St., Steelton, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. Born Aug. 26, 1916, in Steelton, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna (Klasnich) Klobucar. She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Marickovic. Surviving are: children, Mary A. Borucki. Camp Hill, Angeline B. Marickovic, Steelton, and Rev. Thomas C. Marickovic, Pastor of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Lewistown. She was a homemaker, with 12 years of education. She was a member of the Prince of Peace-Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church, St. Aloysius Lodge No. 42, KSKJ, and the American Slovenian Catholic Union. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at the Prince of Peace-Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 815 S. Second St., Steelton. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, 116 S. Oak Grove Road, Harrisburg. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Wiedman Funeral Home, 357 S. Second St., Steelton. Memorial contributions may be made to: Holy Spirit Hospital, 503 N. 21st St., Camp Hill, PA 17011, or Prince of Peace Parish, 815 S. Second St., Steelton, PA 17113. Wiedman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
YEAGERTOWN - Dorothy G. Markley, 81, of 38 North Mann Ave., Yeagertown, died at 9:10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001, at Ohesson Manor, Lewistown. Born Feb. 7, 1920, in Yeagertown, she was the daughter of the late Louis A. and Virginia (Sprankle) Beaudette. Her husband, Merle J. Markley, died in 1986. Surviving are: children, Mrs. Dennis (Jennifer) Wright, 122 Eighth St., Lewistown, Ronald M. Markley, 38 N. Mann Ave., Yeagertown, Robert L. Markley, Elizabethtown, and Joyce Markley, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and two grandchildren. She was a graduate of Lewistown Beauty Culture School. She was owner-operator of Dorothy's Beauty Shoppe in Yeagertown for 30 years, retiring in 1970. She was a member of Holy Communion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Yeagertown and the Knotty Ladies Quilting Club. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Holy Communion Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Main Street, Yeagertown, with the Rev. Philip C. Tundel officiating. Private interment will be in Yeagertown Lutheran Cemetery. There will be no viewing, but family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham and 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service Sunday at the church. LEWISTOWN - Grace M. Markley, 84, a resident of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, Lewistown, formerly of 313 N. Grand St., Lewistown, died at 5:08 a.m. Sunday, May 27, 2001, at the nursing home. Born Aug. 27, 1916, in Blair Four, she was the daughter of the late James J. and Emma (Brantner) Edwards. Her husband, Malcolm R. "Mack" Markley Jr., died Feb. 13, 1999. Surviving are: children, Mrs. Daniel (Barbara) Hannon, Highland Avenue, Lewistown, Mrs. Haven (Judy) Bearley, North Huntingdon, Mrs. Carl (Mary) Crowder, Logan Street, Lewistown, and Daniel L. Markley, Shaw Avenue, Lewistown; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters and a son, Malcolm R. Markley III. She was a self-employed seamstress. She was a charter member of Evangel Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years and taught child evangelism. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Darrell Wireman officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: Evangel Baptist Church-FLC, 375 W. Fifth St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
MIFFLINTOWN - Anice E. Marshall, 81, of Locust Grove Retirement Village, formerly of Mifflintown RR3, died at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2001, at the village. Born Oct. 12, 1919, in Honey Grove, she was a daughter of the late Jesse J. and Blanche (Kint) Henry. Her husband, Fay M. Marshall, died Oct. 20, 1988. She is survived by children, Ruth Burk, State College, James Marshall, Bellefonte, Linda Peck, Port Royal, Jane McClure, Liverpool and Norma Mummah, Mifflintown; brothers and sisters, Katherine Clites, Mechanicsburg, Roscoe Henry, Mifflin, Arlene Anderson, Carlisle, Donna Stoneberger, Shermansdale and Robert Henry, Dauphin; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters and brothers, Paul Henry, Jesse Henry, Dorothy Bender, and Maxine Hosler. She was a graduate of Port Royal High School. She was a homemaker and of the nondenominational faith. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove, with Mr. Dan Helenek and Mr. Carlton Schooley officiating. Interment will be in Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.
