MOUNT UNION - Lorma Catherine McConaughey, 75, of Mount Union, died at 4:15 p.m. Sunday, March 25, 2001, at the home of her daughter, Carol Carlin, Shirleysburg RR1. Born July 16, 1925 in Shirley Township, Huntingdon County, she was the daughter of the late David E. and Nora Josephine (Kelley) Worthy. Her husband, Henry McConaughey Sr., whom she married Jan. 29, 1946, died May 8, 1970. She is survived by her companion of 26 years, John O. Laird of Water Street, Mount Union. Also surviving are children, Carol L. Carlin, Shirleysburg, George H. McConaughey Jr., Mount Union, Debbie J. Kibe, Milroy, Mary C. Goss, Mount Union, and Bonnie S. Morton, Newton Hamilton; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by two grandsons, Seth Morton and Bradley Kibe II; five brothers and six sisters, Ruth Varner, Ruth Long, Bernice Boozel, Marshall Bollinger, Ethel Marks, Esther Kelley, Harvey Worthy, Melvin Worthy, Sherman Worthy, Lena Hammon, and Banks Worthy. She was Protestant by faith. She was a homemaker and in earlier years, she had worked at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, and at the former Owen-Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon. She then worked for many years at Robin Footwear, Mount Union and last worked at Empire Kosher, Mifflintown. Services will be hold at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with the Rev. Dayton Sines officiating. Interment will be made in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg RR. Friends may call 7-9 p.m today and from noon until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
MCVEYTOWN - Whitney Joy McConaughey, 14, of 201 Fairview Road, McVeytown died at 9:57 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, following a serious illness. Born Feb. 13, 1987, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of Carl L. McConaughey, Shirleysburg RD1 and Larry and Jana (Peterson) White, McVeytown RD1, who survive. Also surviving are: a brother and sister, Kasey White and Dylan White, both of McVeytown RD1; grandparents, Ross and Joan Peterson, Three Springs, Wilbur Leidig, Waterfall and Olive McConaughey, Mount Union; step-grandparents, Larry and Carolyn White, McVeytown; a great-grandmother, Minnie Peterson, Woodland Retirement Center, Orbisonia; and a step-great-grandmother, Margaret McMullen, Burnham. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Joy Leidig and Walter McConaughey, and by great-grandparents Martha and Ira Grove. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, McVeytown, where she served as an acolyte and she was active in Sunday school and youth fellowship. She also attended Germany Valley Church of the Brethren, Shirleysburg RD1. She attended eighth grade at Mount Union Area High School, where she was active in the Builders Club. She played on the Slick Chicks Mount Union Summer League softball team and she had played basketball at the Mount Union Elementary School. She enjoyed fishing and horseback riding. Her funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Marian Hartley and the Rev. Raymond Hill officiating. Interment will be in Germany Valley Cemetery, Shirleysburg RD1. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. Monday until the time of the funeral at the funeral home. GRANVILLE - Senoma P. McCrory, 96, a resident of Malta Home, Granville, formerly of 9 Henrietta St., Lewistown, died at 3:15 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2001, at the Malta Home. Born April 29, 1905, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Mary J. (Briner) Miller. Her husband, James F. McCrory, died Feb. 15, 1975. She is survived by a stepson, William R. McCrory, Blairsville. She was the last of her immediate family. Earlier in life, she worked at the American Viscose Corporation and later as a presser for the Lewistown Laundry and Bell Laundry for 40 years, retiring in 1968. Graveside services will be held at 9 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, with the Rev. Jacob T. Traxler officiating. There will be no viewing. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Pennsylvania SPCA, 2451 General Potter Highway, Centre Hall, PA 16828 or to the Malta Home, PO Box E, Granville, PA 17029. MCVEYTOWN - Helen A. McGinley, 68, of the Rothrock School Apartments, McVeytown, formerly of Allentown, died at 5:15 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2001, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital. Born Dec. 2, 1932, in McVeytown, she was a daughter of the late Reed F. and Ruth A. (Treaster) Narehood. Her second husband, John F. McGinley, preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1976. Surviving are: a son, Dennis W. Davidheiser, Mifflintown RR; a daughter, Mrs. Perry (Carol) Snyder, Lewistown; sisters and brother, Mrs. Russell (Isabel) Kirby and Ethel Baker, both of McVeytown, and Robert D. Narehood, Lisbon, Ohio; four granddaughters and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul A. Narehood, Glen L. Treaster, Blain Narehood, and John H. Narehood; and a sister Pearl Glasgow. She was a secretary and bookkeeper for Philip Wolf and Sons, Lewistown, and J.E. Edwards Company, Allentown, retiring in 1974. She was a member of the McVeytown United Methodist Church. She was a former Girl Scout troop leader in Granville and Strodes Mills. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown, with the Rev. Marian E. Hartman officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. LEWISTOWN - Viola Ruth McKalips, 97, a resident of Ohesson Manor, formerly of East Freedom Avenue, Burnham, died at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001, at the nursing home. Born March 2, 1904, in Granville Township, she was the daughter of the late Henry S. and Emma S. (Breneman) Yeatter. Her husband, James Edward McKalips, whom she married in 1923, died Sept. 26, 1985. Surviving are: a daughter, Florence Farran, Burnham; eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, David Edward McKalips on Nov. 13, 1996; a brother, David Yeatter; and two sisters, Hazel Yeatter and Esther Frey. She was a homemaker. She was a life member of the Burnham Church of the Brethren, where she was a Deaconess and taught Sunday School for many years in the Adult Class. Her service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Wayne Mast officiating. Private interment will be in the Vira Methodist Cemetery. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. LEWISTOWN - Roberta Ann "Bert" McKee, 64, of Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, Lewistown, and formerly of 14 Nittany Lion Drive, Lewistown, died at 2:14 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born March 28, 1937, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Sara B. (Atkins) McCoach. Surviving are: children, Steven Douglas McKee, Los Alamos, New Mexico, and Mrs. Dennis (Joni Lynn) Frantz, Mandeville, LA; a sister, Mrs. James (Carol) "Sue" Miller, 20 Nittany Lion Drive, Lewistown; and two grandchildren, Jonna Rose Frantz and Denise Ann Frantz. She was a secretary at Coca-Cola Bottling Plant, Lewistown, for 15 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Lewistown. She had been on Kidney Dialysis for over 20 years. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Dr. Jeffrey D. McCleary officiating. Interment will be in St. Marks Episcopal Cemetery, Lewistown. Friends may call from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Friday, at the funeral home. MCCLURE - Florence B. McKim, 89, of McClure RR2, died at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 8, 2001, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg. Born on Sept. 4, 1911, in Duncannon, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Florence (Strunk) Willi. Her husband, Samuel R. McKim, whom she married Oct. 15, 1996 after 30 years together, survives. She was preceded in death by a sister in infancy, and a brother, Raymond L. Willi. She worked at the former Standard Shirt Factory as a seamstress and was a member of the Beavertown United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing guitar, fishing and hunting. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Aurand Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, with Rev. John D. Yost officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery, Mifflintown. Family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service Tuesday.
LEWISTOWN - Lorraine E. McKinnon, 66, of 1216 Glenwood Ave., Lewistown, died at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Aug. 14, 1935, in Freeburg, she was the daughter of the late George Kinter and Dora Mae (Miller) Dillman. Her husband, John C. McKinnon, Sr., whom she married March 18, 1957, survives. Also surviving are: children, John C. McKinnon, Jr., and Traci L. McKinnon; brothers, Marvin L. Dillman and Melvin E. Miller; two grandchildren, John C. McKinnon, III, and Jessica Alesha McKinnon; nieces, Sandy Naylor, Areta Baumgardner, Dorine Dillman, Sherry Young, Linda Houtz, Lisa Richardson, Teresa Elsasses and Kathy Folk; nephews, Marvin Dillman, Joseph Dillman, Gary Miller and Kevin Miller. She was preceded in death by a brother, Merle C. Dillman, and a nephew, Merle C. "Mick" Dillman, Jr. She was a homemaker. Her private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
