SHADE GAP - Kenneth R. "Whitey" Nonemaker, 48, of Shade Gap died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, in Shreveport, LA. Born March 10, 1953, in Huntingdon, he was a son of the late Kenneth R. and Donna Nonemaker. His companion, Jane E. Cramer, survives. Also surviving are: a daughter, Angela S. Lounis of Carthage, MO, and eight grandchildren. He was employed by Gravytrain Express Trucking Co., McVeytown, for the last three years. Prior to that he was employed by Wible's Concrete, Mount Union, for 20 years. He attended Grace United Methodist Church, Three Springs. He served for many years as fire chief of the Three Springs Volunteer Fire Company and was more recently active in the Shade Gap Volunteer Fire Company. His service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with the Rev. David Ford officiating. Interment will be in Burnt Cabins Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the services Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. RURAL CENTRE HALL - Brown William Norris, 88, of Rural Centre Hall, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Centre Community Hospital, State College. Born April 26, 1912, in Barrville, he was the son of the late James A. and Anna C. (Barnes) Norris. His wife, Margaret Isabel (Mulhollen) Norris, whom he married Nov. 8, 1933, died Jan. 3, 1994. Surviving are: children, Donamae Keller, Lewisburg, Jessie Lucas, Milesburg, Brenda Thompson, Wichita, Kan., Margaret Gearhart and Sara Shutt, both of Centre Hall, and Theodore Norris, Huntingdon; sisters, Lorena Moore, Yeagertown, Frances Hannon and Queenie Young, both of Burnham, and Ruth Sheaffer, New Castle, Del.; 20 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Lester Norris in 1986, two sisters and one brother. He worked at the Standard Steel Mill and Titan Metals during World War II, after which he was employed at Penn State. He retired from The Applied Research Lab at Penn State in 1977. He was a lifetime member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks and a past member of the Moose. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting in Pennsylvania and fishing in Canada. He also enjoyed carpentry and gardening. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, with the Rev. Rachel Dunn officiating. Interment will be in Zion Hill Cemetery, Colyer. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. MILLERSTOWN - Elsie M. R. Nygren, 96, of Millerstown RR1, died at 8:55 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2001, at the residence of her son, with whom she lived. Born May 19, 1904, in New Castle, Neb., she was the daughter of the late Carl O. R. and Anne (Pederson) Anderson. Her husband, Victor Emmanuel Nygren, died in March 1965. She is survived by a son, Larry R. Nygren, Millerstown RR1, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She attended elementary and high school in Albany, Ore. and also attended Oregon State. She had been a stenographer/clerk the majority of her life, retiring in 1970 from the Public Welfare Commission, Milton-Freewater, Ore. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Milton-Freewater, Ore. and attended the Central Baptist Church, Millerstown. She was also a member of the Republican Women's Club; the United Methodist Women; the American Legion Auxiliary; the Volunteer Hospital Workers; the Retired Senior Volunteer Program of USA; the Order of the Eastern Star and was Past Matron; the Walla Walla Symphony Orchestra; the Dance Band; the Home Extension Homemakers Club; the Book Club; and the Milton-Freewater Kitchen Band. She was honored by President Truman as an Official Voting Registrar. Services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Central Baptist Church, Millerstown, with the Rev. Robert Meyers officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Millerstown. Friends may call 6 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Central Baptist Church, Millerstown, PA 17062. The Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home, Sunbury and High streets, Millerstown, is in charge of arrangements.
YEAGERTOWN - Dorothy P. O'Donnell, 76, of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, Lewistown, formerly of Yeagertown, died at 9:40 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2001, at the nursing home. Born Sept. 5, 1924 in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Walter B. and Grace F. (Hetrick) Rutherford. Her husband Silas S. O'Donnell Sr., whom she married April 4, 1950, survives, residing at 2897 US Hwy. 522 South, McVeytown. Also surviving are: children, Mary M. O'Donnell, State College, Mrs. Ken (E. Jean) Ehrenzeller, Mifflintown, Silas S. O'Donnell Jr., McVeytown, Mrs. Martin (Patricia A.) Dobson, Milroy and Mrs. Mark (Lisa J.) Devore, McVeytown; six grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one step-grandchild. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by one sister and one brother. She was also preceded in death by one grandson. Earlier in life, she worked as a presser at the Arrow Shirt Factory. She attended Lockes Banks Evangelical Methodist Church. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with the Rev. William Herrick officiating. Interment will be in New Lancaster Valley Cemetery. There will be no viewing. SPRING MILLS - Virginia M. O'Donnel, 65, of Tucker Road, Spring Mills, died at 3 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001 at her home. Born Oct. 27, 1935, in Centre County, she was the daughter of the late Stanley E. and Gwendolyn (Rossman) Treaster. Her first husband, James E. Manbeck died April 18, 1975. Her second husband, William N. O'Donnel died Aug. 15, 1995. Surviving are: children, Mrs. Fred (Penny) Waltz, James E. Treaster, both of Spring Mills, and Mrs. Randy (Lynn Ann) Hertzler, Belleville; five grandaughters and two great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by a son, Randy Manbeck. She was a 1964 graduate of the Empire Beauty School in Lewistown. Early in life she was employed by American Viscose, Lewistown, and was later the owner/operator of Virginia Manbeck Beauty Shop, Yeagertown, where she was last employed as a beautician from 1964 to 1976. She was also self-employed as meat cutter with her late husband William O'Donnel. She was a member of the Mifflinburg Moose Lodge. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing. Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Avenue, Burnham, is in charge of arrangements. LEWISTOWN - Victoria Shea Ola, 33, of 127 N. Juniata St., Lewistown, died at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at the Mifflin County Correctional Facility. Born Aug. 21, 1968, in New Orleans, LA, she was the daughter of Richard L. Duvigneaud of Sebring, FL and Elizabeth (Tonglet) Duvigneaud of Boynton Beach, FL. Also surviving are: domestic partner, Ann "Moose" Brant of 127 N. Juniata St., Lewistown; children, Terrence J. Shea Jr. of New Port Richey, FL and Samantha Marie Shea, Tabatha Ann Ola, Sarah E. Ola, Alfred James Ola III and Caitlyn E. Ola, all of Lewistown; brother, Shane Duvigneaud of West Palm Beach, FL. She was a homemaker and a memeber of the Metropolitan Community Church, Harrisburg. Her funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. today at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Pastor Eva O'Diam officiating. A private interment will be held in New Orleans, LA. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Shea/Ola Children's Fund, c/o Elizabeth Duvigneaud, P.O. ELIZABETHTOWN - Harry S. "Dutch" Olnick, 70, of 553 East Hummelstown St., Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at his residence. Born July 15, 1930, in Burnham, he was a son of Stephana (Kryston) Olnick of Lewistown and the late Harry O1nick. His wife, Jeanette A. (Jones) Olnick, whom he married Dec. 18,1953, survives. Also surviving are: three sons, Stanley C. Olnick and Christopher S. Olnick, both of Elizabethtown, and Bryan J. Olnick, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; four brothers, Joseph Olnick and William Olnick, both of Burnham, Leon Olnick, Micco, Fla., and Carl Olnick, Myrtle Beach, NC; two sisters, Stephanie Dempsey, Lewistown and Mrs. Phillip (Lucy) Morris, King of Prussia; and five granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Rodgers and a brother, Michael Olnick. He was a graduate of Burnham High School. He served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, traveling all over the world, serving in the Korean Conflict, Vietnam and spent three years at the Rhein-Main Air Force Base, Germany. He was an aircraft mechanic crew chief, delivering the first C135 Aircraft to McGuire Air Force Base, NJ. He also participated in Operation Deep Freeze and was involved with testing of Atomic Bombs over the Pacific. His airplane was assigned to the Department of Defense when he was abroad. He retired in 1969. He then worked at M&M Mars Inc. for over 20 years as the manager of Environmental Services. He was a member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Elizabethtown, where he was responsible for the landscaping and was co-founder of the Men's Club. He was an avid Penn State fan and member of the Nittany Lion Club. A memorial Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at the Historic St. Peter's Church, l St. Peter Place, Elizabethtown, with the Rev. David L. Danneker officiating. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. There will no viewing however, the family will receive friends from 8 a.m. until the time of the Mass Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Peter's Flower Fund, 1840 Marshall Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. MIFFLINBURG - Beatrice Mable "Bea" Orren, 92, of 284 N. Eighth St., Mifflinburg, died at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2001 at the Community General Osteopathic Hospital, Harrisburg. Born July 31, 1908 in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Berth (Walter) Bedelyon. Her husband George William Orren Sr., whom she married Sept. 14, 1925, in Emmittsburg, MD, preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 1983. Surviving are: children, George W. "Bill" Orren Jr. and Erma B. Hower, both of Mifflinburg, Phyllis J. Deaner, Harrisburg and Donna L. Kiec, Berwick; 15 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sharon Ann Sears, in 1998, and also by a brother and a sister, Earl E. Bedelyon and Violet Bedelyon. She was a 1925 graduate of Lewistown High School. She was an avid reader. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, West Milton, where she was a former Sunday school teacher of the Young Women's Sunday School Class. She was a member and past patron of Amarenth Lodge No. 144, Milton. She was also a member of the Order of the Evening Star Chapter No. 77, Milton, a member of West Milton Garden Club and a member of the Athenaeum Club, Mifflinburg. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the James L. Schwartz Home for Funerals, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, with the Rev. Peter S. Bergstresser, Pastor of the White Deer Lutheran Parish officiating. Interment will be in Church Hill (Twin Churches) Cemetery, Kelly Township, Union County. Friends may call after 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where the Amarenth Lodge No. 144, Milton will hold a service of remembrance at 8:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Herr Memorial Library, 500 Market St., Mifflinburg, PA 17844.
