Mac W. Rumberger
LIVERPOOL - Mac W. Rumberger, 76, of 2411 SR 17, Liverpool, died at 5 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 12, 2001, at the Perry Village, New Bloomfield. Born Jan. 2, 1925, in Greenwood Township, Perry County, he was the son of the late William F. and Jean (Newlin) Rumberger. His wife, B. Jean Martin, whom he married Sept. 27, 1952, survives. Also surviving are: a son, Dane F. Rumberger, Millerstown; sisters, Virginia Dumm, Elliotsburg and Elizabeth Wright, Rural Millerstown; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Foster Rumberger and Newlin Rumberger. He was a 1944 graduate of Greenwood Joint High School, Millerstown. He was a lifetime farmer. He was a life member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church of Perry Valley, Millerstown RR1, a former president and member of church council, and had taught the Teenage Sunday School Class of the church for 10 years. He served as supervisor for Greenwood Township from 1972-1990. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church of Perry Valley, Millerstown RR1. Interment will be in the adjoining church Cemetery. Friends may call 9 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the church. The George P. Garman Funeral Home Inc., 606 N. Front St., Liverpool, is in charge of arrangements.

Martha K. Rummel
ST. PETERSBURG, FL - Martha K. Rummel, 99, of St. Petersburg, FL, died Friday, May 4, 2001, at Bon Secours Maria Manor, St. Petersburg, FL. Born July 7, 1901, in Shirleysburg, she was the daughter of the late Harry W. and Myrtle L. (Mellott) Kyper. Her husband, Clarence B. Rummel, died in 1981. Surviving are: children, Rev. Dr. Wallace B. Rummel, St. Petersburg, FL and Helen Louise Howard, Clearwater, FL; six grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Early in life, she was an elementary school teacher in Huntingdon County. She was also employed for eight years as a clerk in the Mifflin County Registrar's Office. She was a former member of the Lewistown Presbyterian Church; a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, St. Petersburg, FL; a 50 year member of the Mount Union Chapter 280 Order of the Eastern Star; Past Worthy High Priestess & charter member of the Lewistown Chapter 30, White Shrine of Galilee; and served on the Presbyterian Home Board. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Juniata Memorial Park, with the Rev. Dr. Wallace B. Rummel and the Rev. Daniel E. Rummel officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. There will be no viewing. Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.

Benjamin D. Runk
MCVEYTOWN - Benjamin D. Runk, 76, of 152 Runk Lane, McVeytown, died at 4:55 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, at the Huntingdon Manor Nursing Home, Huntingdon. Born June 2, 1924, in Wayne Township, Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Fred and Ruth Virginia (Miller) Runk. His wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Turbett) Runk, whom he married June 30, 1945, survives. Also surviving are: children, Bernard D. Runk, Ashland, Va., Nancy E. Gladfelter, Mill Creek, Kenneth S. Runk, El Paso, Texas; brother and sister, Glen Runk, Eustis, Fla. and Freeda Baker, McVeytown RR1; seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, Kenneth Runk, Luther Runk, and Helen Copley. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He retired from E. DeVecchis and Sons, State College in 1990 after 10 years of service. In his early years, he began Ben's Coal Yard and Trucking Co. in Smithfield and owned Ben's Restaurant and Diner 22 in Alexandria. He also worked at Harbison-Walker Refractories, Mount Union. He then owned both the Colonial Hotel and the Corner Room in Huntingdon and the Neu-Bridge Restaurant in Mount Union for many years. He was a member of Wayne United Methodist Church, McVeytown RR1. He was a life member of Huntingdon VFW Post; a former member of Huntingdon Lions Club and the Huntingdon Moose Lodge; and past president and member of the Pennsylvania Restaurant Association. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Charlie Rhodes officiating. Interment will be in the Wayne Cemetery, McVeytown RR1. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Cancer Society, RR1, Highway 26, Huntingdon, PA 16652 or to Hospice Home Nursing Agency, 900 Bryan St., Huntingdon, PA 16652.

Lillian M. Runk
MCVEYTOWN - Lillian M. Runk, 83, of Ferguson Valley Road, McVeytown, died at 2:50 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, Lewistown. Born Jan. 29, 1918, in McVeytown, she was the daughter of the late Russell E. and Millie (Rupert) Stine. Her husband, Hayden G. Runk, whom she married Oct. 22, 1938, died July 3, 2000. She is survived by a son, David S. Runk, Lewistown; a daughter, Elaine S. Richards, Cranford, NJ; three sisters, Zelda Madrick, Alfred, Maine, Mrs. Howard (Elma) Heckler, Hatfield, and Orpha Lou Kane, Clearfield; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Spring Run Church of the Brethren and the Shining Star Sunday School Class of the church. She was also a former deacon and trustee of the church. She enjoyed cooking and flower gardening. Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Spring Run Cemetery, McVeytown, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Spring Run Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Jerry Lee Miller officiating. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 South Market St., McVeytown. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Spring Run Church of the Brethren, PO Box 333, McVeytown, PA 17051.

Kathryn C. 'Kate' Rupert
MIFFLIN - Kathryn C. "Kate" Rupert, 72, of Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin, formerly of Valley Street, Lewistown, died at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2001, at Locust Grove. Born Dec. 7, 1928, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Homer C. and Annabelle (Hartsock) Colyer. Her husband, James M. Rupert, died March 10, 1986. Surviving are: children, Jolene Colyer and Robert Barlett, both of Lewistown; sisters and brothers, Mrs. William (Raeanna) Beers and Deborah Louder, both of Lewistown, Robert Colyer, Burnham and Fred Colyer, McAlisterville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Early in life, she worked at Corkins Restaurant and retired from Empire Kosher with 15 years of service. She was a member of the United Fire Company auxiliary, the Mifflin County Firemen's Association auxiliary, the Brooklyn Fire Company, the Women of the Moose, the Junction Fire Company, the Granville Fire Company auxiliary, and the City, Hook and Ladder Fire Company auxiliary. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Douglas Sherlock Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Family will provide all flowers, but memorial contributions may be made to: City, Hook and Ladder Fire Company, 317 Valley St., Lewistown, PA 17044 or to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 551, Lewistown, PA 17044.

Mary V. Rupert
LEWISTOWN - Mary V. Rupert, 84, a resident of Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, Lewistown and formerly of Kish Apartments, Lewistown, died at 10:40 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2001, at the nursing home. Born Feb. 13, 1917, in East Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Laura (Roberts) Quay. Her husband, Donald M. Rupert Sr., preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 1982. Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Mary Evelyn) Colledge Sr., Lewistown; two sons, Donald M. Rupert Jr., Lewistown and Thomas C. Rupert, Tuscon, AZ; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by two sisters. She was employed by the Arrow Division of Cluett-Peabody, retiring after 25 years of service. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ladies of the Elks Auxiliary and Amalgamated Clothing and Textile Union Retirees. Her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with Rev. Clifford Miller officiating. Interment will be private at Juniata Memorial Park. Family will provide flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Delores L. 'Dolly' Rush
LEWISTOWN - Delores L. "Dolly" Rush, 71, of 209 N. Walnut St., Lewistown, died Friday, May 4, 2001, at her residence. Born Feb. 19, 1930, in Mifflin County, she was the daughter of the late James T. Rheam and Grace (Hockins) Aurand. Her husband, Robert M. Rush, died May 4, 1998. She is survived by a son, Timothy L. Rush, Newport and two grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by one brother, Oliver Rheam and a son, Thomas M. Rush on Feb. 21, 1997. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lewistown, the American Legion Post 90 Ladies Auxiliary, the VFW Post 7011 and the City, Hook and Ladder Fire Company. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with Karen L. McCachren officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. There will be no viewing, but family will receive friends 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Cancer Society, 26 N. Brown St., Lewistown, PA 17044 or to the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Third St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Glenn R. 'Bubber' Rush
MIFFLINTOWN - Glenn R. "Bubber" Rush, 73, of Mifflintown RR4 (Manbeck Heights), died at 11:46 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Nov. 15, 1927, in Newport, he was the son of the late Charles M. and Ruth B. (Clouser) Rush. His wife, JoAnn (Nace) Rush, whom he married Sept. 9, 1961, survives. Also surviving are two sons, Charles M. Rush, Mechanicsburg and Richard A. Rush, Mifflintown; two sisters, Shirley Seaman, Newport RR2 and Julia Alvarez, Sarasota, Fla.; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by one sister, Jane Barrick. He was a 1945 graduate of Newport High School. He was a veteran, serving in the Merchant Marines from November 1945 to May 1946; the US Army from January 1949 to January 1950 and in the United States Navy from January 1951 to December 1954. He was a past-commander of American Legion Post 177, Newport and the VFW Post 5863, Mifflintown. He was a field engineer with United Telephone Company, retiring in 1985. A Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Guss Funeral Home, 20 South Third Street, Mifflintown, with the Rev. William Esborn officiating. Following the service, full military honors will be provided by the Juniata County Veterans Council (at the funeral home). There will be no viewing. The family will provide all funeral flowers, but memorial contributions may be made to: the Mifflin-Juniata Unit of the American Cancer Society, 26 N. Brown St., Lewistown, PA 17044 or to Sun Home Health, 2 Hudson Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044.
