PORT ROYAL - Ira R. Allen, 83, of Port Royal RR1, died at 12:05 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at his home.
Born Dec. 24, 1916, in Honey Grove, he was a son of the late Furman A. Allen and Carrie (Neeley) Allen McCullough. His wife, S. Eileen (Haines) Allen, whom he married May 1, 1936, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Harold E. Allen and Stephen Lew Allen, both of Port Royal RR1, Robert C. Allen, McAlisterville, Nelson R. Allen, Montoursville, Mrs. Frank (Heidi) Pannebaker Jr., Saxton, and Mrs. Chet (Nancy) Elder, Bethany Beach, Del.; a brother, George A. Allen, Lewistown RR3; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
He was a retired trackman having worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad for 39 years.
He was a member of the Honey Grove Methodist Church, Honey Grove.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Matamoras Methodist Church, Port Royal RR1, with the Rev. Frank J. Swartz officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in the New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.
There will be no public viewing.

The Rex Funeral Home, 308 Market St., Port Royal, is in charge of arrangements.
LEWISTOWN - Neva S. Allen, 87, of Ohesson Manor, Lewistown, and formerly of 30 Terrace Blvd., Lewistown, died at 10:45 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at the home.
Born June 13, 1912, in Six Mile Run, she was a daughter of Rufus and Elizabeth (Barton) Stevens. Her husband, John R. Allen, died Feb. 9, 1980.
Surviving are: children, Carl M. Runk, 150 Loop Road, Lewistown; step-children, Mrs. Ralph (Audrey) Snow, Unadilla, Ga., and Mrs. Gary (Sandra) Zimmerman, Delaware Ave., Lewistown; sister and brother, Esta Everhart, Garrettsville, Ohio, and J. Orrin Stevens, Everett; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Florence Sunderland; stepson, Leroy Allen; and three brothers and two sisters.
She had worked in the Reeling and Cake Converting Dept. at the American Viscose Corp. for 36 years, retiring in 1972.
She attended Lewistown Christian and Missionary Alliance Church.
She was a past president of Lewistown Golden Age Club and Lewistown Civic Club and past president and secretary of Henderson Fire Company Auxiliary. She was a current member of United Fire and Rescue Auxiliary, Avisco 25 Year Club, ACTWU Retirees, TW Union No. 6, TWUA Auxiliary Secretary, Pensioner's Club, Lewistown Senior Citizens Center, Super Senior Citizens and Republican Women of Action.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lewistown Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Hudson Ave., Lewistown, with the Rev. Jacob Traxler officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery.
Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. today at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mifflin County Christian Academy, 201 Beech St., Burnham, PA 17009.
BELLEVILLE - Hazel E. Allison, 92, of 372 Back Mountain Road, Belleville, died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at her home.
Born Oct. 26, 1907, in West Liberty, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late James A. L. and Susie (Peight) Mateer. Her husband, James H. Allison, whom she married May 16, 1930, died Aug. 26, 1987.
Also surviving are: children, James J. Allison, Belleville, Ruth A. Allison, Brooksville, Fla., and Robert W. Allison, Hickory Lane, Mill Creek; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Blaine Mateer, Rush Mateer, Charles Mateer, Raymond Mateer, Esther Brown, Ruth Brenneman and Huldah Zook.
She was a homemaker and a retired employee of KaVee Ice Cream Company. She was also the former Menno Township Tax Assessor.
She was a member of the Allensville Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school for cradle roll and primary classes and was a member of the Willing Workers.
She was also a member of the Mount Union Chapter No. 280 Order of the Eastern Star, the Belleville Civic Club, and the Republican Women of Action.
She enjoyed gardening and fishing.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Allensville Presbyterian Church, with Pastor Geoffrey Huish officiating. Interment will be in the Allensville Presbyterian Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.

LEWISTOWN - Betty L. Ammerman, 68, of 101 E. Fleming Ave., Lewistown, died at 4:25 p.m. Monday, March 29, 1999, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born Nov. 27, 1930, in West Beaver Township, Snyder County, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Marietta (Klinger) Bickel. Her husband, Deryl L. Ammerman, whom she married Dec. 24, 1947, survives.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Dennis (Cheryl L.) Basom, Mifflintown; sisters and brother, Cindy Erb, McClure, Nancy Bell, Lewistown, and Edward Bickel, Reedsville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon L. Ammerman in 1966, and a son, Stephen L. Ammerman in 1997.
In 1993, she retired from Bob Grove Insurance Agency, where she served as a bookkeeper and receptionist for six years. She and her husband, owned and operated Christie's Flowers in Harrisburg for 15 years. She also operated two beauty salons in the Hershey area and she had a beauty shop in McClure in the 1960s.
She enjoyed bingo and gardening.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the McClure chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes Inc., North Brown Street, McClure, with the Rev. William Danis officiating. Interment will be in the McClure Union Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m.
NEWTON HAMILTON - Ruth Ann Carpenter Anders, 50, of 10 Shaversville Circle, Newton Hamilton, died at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at the Lewistown Hospital, following a serious illness.
Born July 27, 1949, in Streator, Ill., she was a daughter of Gertrude (Harmsen) Carpenter of Streator, Ill. and the late Kenneth E. Carpenter. Her husband, Thomas D. Anders, whom she married Feb. 28, 1968 in Upper Marlboro, Md., survives.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Stacey A. Anders, at home; brother and sister, Diana S. Woodburn, Pontiac, Ill. and Kenneth Carpenter, Long Point, Ill.; and 10 nieces and nephews.
She was a 1967 graduate of Woodland High School, Streator, Ill.
She was employed as a cafeteria aide by the Mount Union Area School District at the Mapleton-Union Elementary School. Prior to that she was employed as a fingerprint technician at the F.B.I. in Washington, D.C.
She enjoyed making crafts, sewing, crocheting and traveling.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Michael Bailey and the Rev. Danny Neff officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Cemetery, Newton Hamilton.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of the services Friday at the funeral home.
MOUNT UNION - Annie Anderson, 80, of 34 Hollow Drive, Mount Union, died at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at the Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, Lewistown.
Born Feb. 19, 1920, in Hawstone, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Katie (Prokopief) Anderson.
She is survived by brothers and sister, Nicholas Anderson, Harrisburg, John Anderson, Lewistown, Mitch Anderson and Mary Anderson, Lucy Furnace, Mount Union.
She was preceded in death by sister and brothers, Alice Anderson, Michael Anderson, Harry Anderson, and Paul Anderson.
She was a 1937 graduate of Mount Union High School.
She retired in 1973 from L. Grief Bros. Manufacturing, Mount Union, after 35 years of service.
She was baptized in the Orthodox faith.
She loved gardening and was especially fond of raising Dahlias.
Private services will be held at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Father Stephen Kundla officiating. Interment will be in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg RR1.
There will be no public viewing or visitation.
CARLISLE - The Rev. Francis P. Yarlett, 78, of 200 "D" Street, Carlisle, died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at the Washington Hospital Center, Washington, D.C. Born Feb. 1, 1921, in Carlisle, he was the son of the late Herman and Arminta (Woods) Yarlett. His wife of 57 years, Clara (Gannan) Yarlett, survives. Also surviving are: two sons, James L. Yarlett and David P. Yarlett, both of Carlisle; a sister, Hazel Lehman, Newville; two brothers, Richard Yarlett, Plainfield and Lester Yarlett, Mechanicsburg; five granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; two step-grandsons; two step-great-grandchildren. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a retired minister of 30 years with the United Methodist Church, having served churches in Doylesburg, East Waterford, Reedsville, Mackeyville and Port Royal. He also attended the Waggoners United Methodist Church, Carlisle. He was a member of the Cumberland Star Lodge 197 F&AM; St. John's Royal Arch Chapter 171; St. John's Commandery 8 Knights Templer; and St. John's Council 5. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Waggoners United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tim Funk officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, North Middleton Township. Friends may call from 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 North Hanover Street, Carlisle, where masonic services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Waggoners United Methodist Church, 1055 Longs Gap Road, Carlisle, PA 17013.
MCCLURE - B. Ivan Yeater, 69, of 21 Snook Rd., McClure, died at 3:12 p.m. Friday, July 23, 1999, at Lewistown Hospital. Born April 23, 1930, in Alfarata, he was a son of the late Burton W. and Celia (Howell) Yeater. Surviving are: sisters, Henrietta Bressler, Spring Mills, Marian Long, Alfarata, Mrs. Richard (Darlene) Wertz, 80 Central Ave., Lewistown, and Mrs. Ronald (Patricia) North, Lewistown. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Betty, and a brother, Jesse E. Yeater. He was employed at the Lewistown State Store, retiring in 1985. Prior to that he worked at the Arrow Division of Cluett-Peabody and Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church, Alfarata, and the Brooklyn Hose Co. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Philip C. Tundell officiating. Interment will be in Alfarata Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham.
