MCCLURE - Marietta D. Wagner, 83, of McClure, formerly of Lewistown, died at 3 a.m. Monday, Feb. 5, 2001, at the home of her son, where she resided during her five year illness. Born Feb. 14, 1917, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Walter O. and Ida M. (Yeater) Jones. Her husband, Glenn K. Wagner, whom she married in 1937, died in 1982. She is survived by children, Mrs. Donald (Glenda K.) Folk, Naples, Fla. and Stanton C. Wagner, McClure RR2; sisters and brother, Helen Spickler, McVeytown, Barbara Leach, Mifflintown, and Gene Jones, Phoenix, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers, Betty Hale, Marie Clemens, Raymond Jones and Kenneth D. Jones. She retired in 1976 from the former Davis Manufacturing. She had also worked at Cluett Peabody Factory, Lewistown and the former S. H. Bubb Manufacturing. She was a member of Mt. Bethel United Church of Christ, McClure. She enjoyed sewing. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. Bethel United Church of Christ, McClure, with the Rev. Donald Wise officiating. Interment will be in the McClure Union Cemetery. Family will receive friends from noon until the time of service Friday at the church. The McClure chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements.
LEWISTOWN - Richard L. Wagner Jr., 56, of 404 S. Brown St., Lewistown, died at 12:33 a.m. Sunday, March 25, 2001, at the Lewistown Hospital. Born Feb. 26, 1945 in Lewistown, he was the son of Betty (Swailes) Wagner of 48 Misty Lane, Lewistown and the late Richard L. Wagner Sr. His wife Ruth Ann (Marks) Wagner, whom he married July 7, 1979, survives. Also surviving are: children, Tracy A. Keyton and Amanda L. Wagner, both of Harrisburg, and Emily A. Wagner, at home; sister and brother, Mrs. Gary (Joanne) Crozier, Kissimee, Fla. and William H. Wagner, Spring Grove; and one grandson. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was an over the road truck driver, employed by Zimmerman Truck Lines, Mifflintown and from 1999 to the present for Krentzman's, Lewistown RR3. He was a member of the Brooklyn Hose Company, Lewistown. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. John S. Walters officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. LEWISTOWN - Roger D. Wagner Sr., 83, of 300 N. Grand St., Lewistown, died at 6:09 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, Lewistown. Born Feb. 26, 1918, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Jay Butler and Evelyn Wagner. His wife, Sarah (Elliott) Wagner, whom he married March 12, 1938, survives. He is also survived by children, Roger D. Wagner Jr., Johnstown and Gainelle E. Wagner, Harrisburg; a sister, Margaret Mims, Johnstown; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Early in life, he was employed by Royale Dairy, Lewistown; The Sentinel, Lewistown; as a mechanic at S & S Chevrolet, Warner-Lewis Buick, and Carl Beal Pontiac-Cadillac, all of Lewistown; and from 1960-1972, he was owner/operator of Wagner's B. P. Service Station, Lewistown. He was last employed from 1973 in the purchasing department of Lewistown Hospital, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Bethel AME Church, Lewistown. He was a life member of the City, Hook, and Ladder Fire Company, a former life member of Junction Fire Company, and former member of the Mount Union Masonic Lodge. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Captain Eddie Purvis officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery. Friends may call 3 p.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Salvation Army, 9 S. Dorcas St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
LEWISTOWN - Anna E. Walker, 77, of 5736 SR 103 North, Lewistown, died at 10:15 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Aug. 10, 1924, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Mabel (Hughes) Eby. Her husband, Clyde E. "Tarball" Walker, preceded her in death on Aug. 18, 1988. Surviving are: children, Clyde E. "Ed" Walker, Jr., 30 Duquesne Way, Lewistown, and Mrs. Charles (Connie) Rodkey,195 Jacks Mountain Rd., McVeytown; and a granddaughter whom she raised, Sue (Walker) Howell, 45 Appleby Lane, McVeytown; sisters, Jenny Pittman, 215 Cider Lane, Pleasant Acres, Lewistown, and Doris Napikoski, Napikoski Lane, Lewistown; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ferencz. She was employed by Cluett-Peabody early in life and then a homemaker. She was a Protestant by faith. Her funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Bernard Carpenter officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to: American Heart Association, 501 Howard Ave., Bldg. CHAMBERSBURG - Lena R. Walker, 96, a resident of Falling Spring Nursing and Rehab Center, Chambersburg, died at 12:13 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2001, at the nursing center. Born Feb. 1, 1905, in Siglerville, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Margaret (Fultz) Fultz. Her husband, John Wesley Walker, died May 3, 1983. She had been employed at Knouse Foods in Chambersburg for a number of years. She was Protestant by faith. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with the Rev. Paul B. Baker officiating. Interment will be in Stenger Hill Cemetery, Fort Loudon. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
BELLEVILLE - Jane Wenger Wallis, 92, a resident of Valley View Haven, Belleville, and formerly of Hotel Lewistown, Lewistown, died at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan 18, 2001, at Valley View Haven. Born Aug. 14, 1908, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Christian and Lucy (Pinching) Wenger. Surviving is a niece. She was the last of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by two brothers. She was the former owner of the Hotel Lewistown and a retired auditor for the U.S. government. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Lewistown. Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Doctor Derald W. Stump officiating. Interment will be in Shoop Cemetery, Harrisburg. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 21 South Main St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
FREEBURG - W. Edward "Ed" Walmsley, 77, of 13 W. Front St., Freeburg, Snyder County, died on Thursday, July 26, 2001, at his residence. Born Oct. 5, 1923, in Freeburg, he was the son of the late William Wayland Howard and Anna Miriam (Brown) Walmsley. His wife, Ruby Matilda (Lindstrom) Walmsley, whom he married on Dec. 25, 1945, preceded him in death on Sept. 7, 1994. He is survived by a companion, Betty Zeckman of Mifflinburg; and nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by two sons: Kenneth L. Walmsley on May 19, 1952 and Larry A. Walmsley on June 12, 1946; and one sister, Audrey Walmsley Musser on June 3, 2001. He graduated from Freeburg High School in 1941. He served in the United States Army during World War II, where he was in the Army Medical Corps as an x-ray technician. He was employed at the Danville State Hospital in Danville; the former Selinsgrove Colony (now the Selinsgrove Center), Selinsgrove; as a machinist for a machine shop in Danville; a long-distance truck driver for Interstate Trucking Lines in Ohio; and as a school bus driver for the former B.K. W. Company, now Rohrer Bus Service, of Hummel's Wharf; and most recently drove school bus for Musser Bussing Company, McAlisterville. He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Freeburg; a life member of the Freeburg Volunteer Fire Company, Freeburg; a 41-year member of the American Legion Post 25, Selinsgrove; a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6631, Selinsgrove; and the S.E.O. Teamster Retirees Club and the American Association of Retired Persons. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Freeburg, with Pastor Alice Pawling officiating. Interment, with full military honors accorded by the American Legion Post 25 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6631, both of Selinsgrove, will be in Fairview Cemetery, in Freeburg. Friends may call at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Memorial contributions can be made to: St. Peter's United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 153, Freeburg, PA, 17827. Funeral arrangements were made by the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Inc., Mount Pleasant Mills.
Carol A. Walter, 42, of Beaver Springs passed away at 8:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital, following a brief illness. Born Sept. 28, 1959, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of Merrill F. and Grace M. (Harshbarger) Latherow of RR1 Ryde. August 1, 1998, she married Brent E. Walter, who survives. In addition to her husband and parents, she is survived by a daughter, Jessica M. "Jess" Duncan, at home; a brother, Larry F. Latherow of Ryde; a niece, Angela; two nephews, Kevin and Chris; and a great-niece and nephew. She graduated from Mount Union High School, class of 1977. She was last employed at Barrett Enterprises as a general manager of McDonald's, Lewistown for over 15 years. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Beavertown. She enjoyed flowers, riding horses and was a devoted mother and wife. Her funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's UCC Church, with the Rev. Joclyn Richard-Livingstone officiating. Interment will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Beavertown. Friends may call 4-9 p.m. Thursday at the Beavertown chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, where the family will be present from 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. Paul's UCC Church, Beavertown, PA 17813 or to the American Cancer Society, 1948 E.
