LEWISTOWN - Frances May Walter, 87, a resident of Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, Lewistown, formerly of 228 Seventh Ave., Burnham, died at 9:27 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at the Lewistown Hospital. Born June 24, 1913, in Carthage, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Frank E. and May C. (Seymore) Peters. Her husband, Glenn A. "Keggy" Walter, whom she married April 11, 1934, survives. She is also survived by children, Edward L. Walter, Elizabethtown and Mrs. Alfred (Judith A.) Emerson, Pine Street, Burnham; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. She was a homemaker and a member of the Walnut Street United Methodist Church, Burnham. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Larry K. Lutz officiating. Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery, Burnham. Friends may call 10 a.m. until the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home. LEWISTOWN - Glenn A. "Keggy" Walter, 90, a resident of Ohesson Manor, Lewistown, formerly of 228 Seventh Ave., Burnham, died at 11:28 p.m. Saturday, May 12, 2001, at the nursing home. Born Dec. 19, 1910, in Burnham, he was the son of the late Cloyd E. and Lilly (Erdley) Walter. His wife, Frances (Peters) Walter, died Dec. 30, 2000. He is survived by children, Edward L. Walter, Elizabethtown and Mrs. Alfred (Judith) Emerson; a brother, Lawrence E. Walter, Erie Street, Belleville; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. He was employed in the melt shop of Standard Steel for 43 years, retiring in 1975. He attended the Walnut Street United Methodist Church, Burnham. He was a member of the Burnham Lions Club for 46 years and a member of the Burnham Volunteer Fire Company, the Newtown Fire Company and the United Steelworkers of America No. 1940. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Larry K. Lutz officiating. Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery. Friends may call 9 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Burnham Volunteer Fire Company, 205 N. Beech St., Burnham, PA 17009.
MIDDLEBURG - Howard R. Walter, 85, of Middleburg, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at River Woods, Lewisburg. He was the husband of Miriam V. (Gilbert) Walter, who survives. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Hummel Funeral Home, Middleburg. Interment will be in Glendale Cemetery, Middleburg. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Robert R. "Bob" Walter, 69, of Beavertown passed away at 10:40 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, following an extended illness. Born Feb. 3, 1932, in Middleburg, he was a son of the late Homer H. and Carrie (Musser) Walter. His wife, Marlys (Lunn) Walter, whom he married Jan. 16, 1969, survives. Also surviving are: five children: Melinda J. Meiser, Thompsontown RR1; Deborah A. Pyle, Middleburg; Roger A. Walter, McAlisterville; Michelle A. "Mick" Freed, Richfield; Mitzi J. Royer, Middleburg RR1; three stepchildren, Linda D. Keister, Beavertown RR1; Lisa N. Zechman, Beaver Springs RR1 and Rolland M. Southern, Washington, DC; 13 grandchildren, Jeremy, Alaina, Michael, Amber, Thomas, Jamie, Daniel, Brian, Christopher, Jessica, Megan, Carrie, Kaitlyn; 13 step-grandchildren, Jeri, Brian, Kristin, Curt, Bradley, Taneka, Ashlee, Ryan, Erica, Daniel, Luke, Levi, and Miriam; three sisters, Arla Smith, Westfield Terrace, Middleburg, Faye Walter, Beavertown and Carol Wallace, Beaver Springs RR1. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Jr. in 2001; a granddaughter, Courtney D. Meiser in 2000; a sister, Pauline Long; and a brother, Earnest. He was last employed by the former Beavertown Cast Stone. He had also worked at the Selinsgrove Center, drove bus for the late Paul Gross, cared for the Adamsburg Cemetery, and had various other jobs through the years. He was a member of Christ Church, Beaver Springs. He enjoyed his grandchildren, working with wood, fishing, hunting and watching birds. His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the Christ Church, Beaver Springs, with the Rev. David Meckley officiating. Interment will be held in the Adamsburg Cemetery. Family will receive friends 12 p.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Heart Association, 1704 Warren Ave., Williamsport, PA 17701; the American Lung Association of Central PA, 264 Market St., Sunbury, PA 17801; or Christ Church, Beaver Springs, PA 17812. LITTLE RIVER, SC - Robert R. Walter Jr., 48, of 190 Queens Road, Little River, SC, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, in the McLeod Hospital, Florence, SC, due to complications following heart surgery. Born June 27, 1952, in Sunbury, he was the son of Robert R. Walter St. of Beavertown and Shirley Strawser Barth of Calabash, NC. His wife, Vickie (Dressler) Walter, whom he married Jan. 22, 1983, survives. Also surviving are: children, Jeremy Walter, Mifflinburg and Alaina J. Walter, Little River, SC; stepson, Treg Dressler, Freeburg; brother and sisters, Roger Walter, McAlisterville, Melinda Meiser, Thompsontown, and Debra Pyle, Selinsgrove; and two grandchildren. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was employed as a truck driver for APB Inc. in North Myrtle Beach, SC. He was a member of the Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church in Calabash, NC; the Moose Lodge of Shallotte, NC; and the American Legion of Calabash, NC. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid sprint car fan. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant Mills, with Pastor Kathleen M. Ehrsam officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Freeburg. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. LEWISTOWN - Agnes Walters, 82, of 39 Eastwood St., Lewistown, died at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Born Nov. 12, 1919 in Mound, Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Ida Lean (Thomas) Motley. Surviving are children, Iris Walters of Oakland, CA, Earlene Berry of Belleville, MI, Lonnie Jones of Oakland, CA, Frederick Willis of the Philippines, Goleatha Willis and Carlos Moore, both of Lewistown and Jonelle Brox of Warren, MI; 20 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel AME Church, Lewistown, F.W. Black Senior Citizens Center, and the Order of the Eastern Star in Flint, Michigan. She loved the outdoors and she was a great woman who will be sadly missed. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bethel AME Church with the Rev. Bernard Carpenter officiating. Interment will be in the Lind Memorial Cemetery. A viewing will be held at 10 a.m. Monday until the time of service at the church, 23 Juniata St., Lewistown. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel AME Church, 23 Juniata St., Lewistown, PA 17044. Funeral arrangements were handled by Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.
MIFFLINTOWN - Blaine S. Walters, 76, of Mifflintown RR3, died at 1:40 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at his home. Born July 15, 1925, in Mifflintown, he was the son of the late William Blaine and Carrie M. (Varner) Walters. He is survived by his wife, Betty M. (Ricewick) Walters, whom he married Aug. 26, 1947. Also surviving are: a daughter, Susan M. Horning, Mifflintown RR3; five brothers, Russell Walters and Larry Walters, both of Mifflintown RR4, Clifford Walters, Reedsville, Brooks Walters, Mifflintown RR1, and Clyde Walters, Mifflintown RR3; four sisters, Ethel Bashore, Mifflin, Lavinia Dunmyre, Hummelstown, Norma Parker, Mifflintown RR3, and Loma Saner, Mifflintown RR4; two grandsons, Dave and Jeff. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven B. Walters, three sisters, Helen Hargador, Beulah Haubert and Betty Cox, and three brothers, Doran Walters, Gerald Walters and Marlin Walters. He was a retired bricklayer, with membership in the Bricklayer's International Union and Local 5. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served during World War II in the Pacific theater of operations. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Douglas Compton officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown, where military honors will be provided by the Juniata County Veterans Council. BELLEVILLE - Genevieve L. Walters, 86, a resident of Valley View Haven, Belleville, formerly of Uniontown, died at 2:20 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2001, at Valley View Haven. Born June 25, 1915, in Uniontown, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Tillie E. (Swaney) Gibson. Her husband, H. Gerald Walters, whom she married Aug. 8, 1938, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Samuel (Jerilyn) Strohm, Belleville and Gary L. Walters, North Huntingdon; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Gibson and sisters, Mildred Phillips and Beulah Enzor. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church, Uniontown and the Uniontown Service League. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the James Barnett Funeral Home, 196 W. Main St., Uniontown, with the Rev. Samuel G. Strohm officiating. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Uniontown. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
